Felene felt the dragon's presence behind her, then something came up from over her. Big claws grabbed her neck, and a dragon grabbed her tail. She tried to move her blade, but the dragon soon immobilized her tail. She let out a grunt as more dragons came up to grab her, until someone grabbed a rope. She tried to wiggle out of the dragon's grip, but the dragon only held tighter. She felt the rope wrap around her arms and wings, until someone grabbed her tail and bent it to tie it. She let out a loud, high-pitched shriek as they bent it to her belly. They hesitated, but soon she found her blade against her chest. A dragon carried her, and the trees soon thinned out.

My eyes narrowed and roared loudly before shooting after the dragons that had caught Felene.

Felene hoped that Shadow had flew the other way with her things. More dragons seemed to come up from the trees, until there were about 10 dragons total. She couldn't take this many out, and it was hopeless for him. He hoped that he knew, if not, he was going to be killed. She stayed silent and still as they flew, hoping that they would make some conversation. Instead, they just looked at each other. "Where are you taking me?" She asked, hoping that a dragon would fall for the bait. "Shut up yo-" A dragon began, but another one cut him off. "You have been selected to help us, and our information told us you wouldn't come if we asked you." He began, and she was relieved he wasn't as mean as the first one.

Felene couldn't calm herself down about Shadow, though she couldn't prove that he was still following them. If he was, he was doing a good job not showing it. She felt sore being gripped by the dragon, but made no complaints. She didn't want them to know that she was weak, even though she was. The sun seemed to set, making her look away. Her beloved forest soon disappeared too, giving away to flat grasslands. She knew that she was far away from her home know, and would have to make another one. She had only been there for 6 months, the longest yet.

Felene eventually dazed off, not knowing that the dragons were beginning the land. She felt her sense of time blur, but opened her eyes as she saw several bodies around her. The sun had disappeared from the sky, and the moon was already shining. They wasn't much light left, but it was enough to fly in. The dragon had was tying her to a uprooted tree. She tried to move a limb, but discovered that it was hopeless for an escape. The tree's long roots covered her sight, and she watched the dragon give orders, or rather, the dragon's feet. "Go and fetch some prey, I want all of those that are injured to sleep, and others take turn guarding. A few of us took some hits, but none were lethal. A dragon is trying to recapture her, so be on the look out. Give a few scraps to her, but not too much." The dragon ordered, and the other pairs of feet soon went out of sight. The rope felt uncomfortable, so she stayed still. She noticed that she was laying on sand, and that she could hear the ocean not far away.

Shadow

I watched as a dragon tied Felene to a tree. I waited until the others had left then I angled myself towards the dragon silently. When I was close to him I stuck out my feet and grabbed the base of its wings. I darted into the sky again, my huge black wings easily lifting me and the dragon. When I was high in the air I flew over to some trees and opened my claws. I watched as the dragon speeding towards the ground, not able to fly because my claws had injured its wings. After the dragon hit the trees I flew back to Felene and landed. I began to untie her, hissing, "Stay quiet. I'm going to get you out of here."

Felene snapped her head towards the voice, hoping that it wasn't who she thought it was. As she made out the color even in the dim light, she started to shake. No, no no! She screamed in her mind, and tried to talk to him without alerting another dragon's attention. "No! Don't save me, go away Shadow!" She almost stuttered as she told him, but managed not to. She tried to wiggle away from him, hoping that he would get the hint. "Save yourself and save the bag I gave you." She whispered, then the bag came to her mind. Did he still have it? She tried to see under the tree's roots, even though it was hopeless. "Go now! They're coming back!" She warned as she could hear wing beats over her head.

Shadow

I stubbornly continued to untie her until she was free. Then I lifted a little into the air and gently picked her up, pinning her wing to her sides gently. Then I shot into the air and went streaking across the sky, avoiding the oncoming dragons. I was headed for our home and the cover of a special place only I knew about, a place where the other dragons would never find us.

Even though Felene had warned him not to, he still rescued her. She had remained still like she was when she was tied. The sky was now dark, and she decided to not worry herself trying to look for the other dragons. They weren't some run-of-the-mill dragons, someone had sent them. To have such a big group chasing after her, someone had told them to find her. Whoever it was, she thought, might know about her toxin. She hadn't thought about it in the past, but know it made sense. If a dragon caught wind of something that powerful, could they want it for their own use? As they flew on, she was still quiet. She didn't know what to do about him, or what he wanted.

I spotted the entrance to the place where I where I was going and I moved towards it. I slipped inside and released Felene

Felene watched as he flew towards what looked like an entrance. She remained still. She felt his claws loosen on her, and she quickly reacted. Feeling for the bag, she grabbed it off of him. She then jumped off of him and looking around her. "Where are we?" She asked, looking around in the dark.

Shadow

I felt her grab the bag from me and heard her ask where we were. Instead of answering I smiled and turned to a torch barely visible in the darkness and gently blew fire on it. It caught and the fire kept going along a long line of torches until the whole cave-like place was switched from darkness to light. I looked at Felene, questioning her with my eyes of what she thought of it.

Felene stared in wonder as his flames kept going along the line of torches. She walked towards one of the torches, then looking at the rest. It also pained her that the room was bigger then she thought it was. She caught Shadow's look, and turned away from him. If she had to be mean to make him safe, that's just what she'll have to do. She snorted and sat at the dimmest part of the room, or what looked the dimmest. "I don't need your help. Why do you keep helping me?" She asked, though she almost flinched at her own words.

I smiled then visibly flinched at her harsh words. "I just wanted to show you kindness..." I muttered, trailing off as I walked to a little out-cropping in the wall of the cave and layed down in the nest I had made there. I set my head on my front feet and stared at one of the torches. I thought showing kindness to Felene would be a good thing. Now I was not so sure, hence her words just a few moments ago.

Felene walked off farther into the corner, until her nose was pressed against the wall. She couldn't be too mean, she reminded herself, the meaner she was, the faster Shadow would be safe. But somewhere inside of her, it was too late. She could be kind to animals, but dragons were different. They required more then just kindness and love. They wanted more, and she was just a boat rocking on the stormy waves. Finally she hunched over, becoming deeper and deeper into her thoughts. The dragons would look for him, even if he tried to hide. If he was on the boat with her, shouldn't she help him? Finally, she shivered and turned around quickly. Walking to shadow, she felt herself rocking back and forth. "Shadow, I-I-I'm sorry. I....I just don't want you getting hurt, being inv-involved with me." She didn't mind that she stuttered when she apologized, though she hoped that he would accept it. She kept her head down, looking at her feet.

When she approached me I lifted my head. I watched while she spoke. Then, ever so gently, I got up and rubed my head on her neak. "I can accept your apology." I said after pulling away from her.

Felene sensed that he had moved. She wondered if he was angry. As he nuzzled her, she felt warmness spread around her neck, slowly flowing to her toes and tail. They had only met a while ago, less then a day, yet she was having feelings for him? She shuffled her feet, embarrassed at her thoughts. But as he drew away, she wanted to be close to him again. She lunged after him, landing by his chest. She leaned up against him before she knew what she was doing. She stood still for a moment, but lowered her head and stayed there. Maybe he has the same feelings. She thought hopefully, but maybe it was too soon for anything. She didn't want to fall in love with him, just to find out he doesn't like her back. She lashed her tail out a bit, no blade sliding under her skin.

I was a little shocked when Felene lunged after me and landed by my chest then leaned against me. Then a sense of warmness and happiness overflowed me. ~Am I having feelings for her? Could I be... Falling in love with her?~ I thought. I smiled down at her and nuzzled her neck again. Then, ever so gently, I placed my lips on her neck and kissed it.

Felene felt herself growing hotter and hotter, even though the room temperature hadn't changed. She felt the muscles move under his chest, her shoulder touching his scales. She shut her eyes hard as she waited for what would happen. Would he nudge her away, or....? She didn't know what else he might do. Maybe push her? Throw her across the room? As he nuzzled her neck again, she rested against it, wanting the warmth. She couldn't stop herself, she wanted Shadow. She froze as she felt his mouth somewhere around her neck, though it was hard to tell. She then felt the heat of his breath on her neck. She let out a strange purring sound and pushed against his neck. She had her thoughts, but it felt good. She didn't stop herself, even as the purring sound was becoming louder and louder.

I pulled away from her neck and smiled down at her as she started to purr. Then I put my lips close to her ear and whispered, "I love you, Felene."

Felene felt his warmth drain from her body, leaving her with her own heat again. She felt cold, even if it was normal. As his head drew near her head she stopped purring, feeling self-conscious about the sound. His words had surprised her. He does love me, but this... Her mind trailed off at what she was about to say. She couldn't reject him, she couldn't even think of the possibility in her mind. Even if this made it 10 times harder, she wouldn't push him back. Knowing that she couldn't falter, or stutter, she breathed in deeply. "I love you Shadow." She replied, becoming still again with embarrassment at what she just said.

I smiled as I heard her words. I pulled away from her ear but then I wrapped my neck around her side and pulled her close, enjoying the warmth that was coursing through my body.

Felene has just looked up in time to see Shadow's smile. She let him pull her close, and enjoyed the combined warmth. She felt herself rest against him, and her eyelids were falling. Everything was safe, for now. She wanted to enjoy the safety, even if it was short-lived. It would only make it harder for her to go back to her normal life, but she wanted to experience this feeling. She thought that the feeling might be love, which would only make things more tangled eventually.
