My eyees widened as Felene collasped and I shot out of the den, calling over my shoulder, "Be right back!" I quickly caught a large doe from a nearby deer herd and returned to the den. I dropped the doe in front of Felene and said, "Here. Eat."

Felene was breathing hard, the cramps becoming longer and longer. She was relived when she saw the doe, but knew that it wasn't over yet. She dragged the doe over to her, or rather, pulled herself to the doe. Placing her jaw on the neck of the deer, she hesitated. Then she ripped off a chunk of flesh and began to eat, trying not to focus too much on the taste of meat.

I watched as Felene ate the deer, hoping she would be okay.

Felene pulled her body to the meat, growing weaker and weaker even with the food. She ate faster and faster, but was slowed down due to the exhaustion. She clenched her jaw when she felt her muscles weaken. "I went too fast, I might need to rest for a few days." She reassured him, but she felt the guilt of having to leave him again disappear. For now anyways. She would have to leave, but only when she recovered. She managed to crawl off the deer, having had her full. "I can't really fly..."

"Then I'll stay with you. You are too weak to defend yourself." I replied, my voice suggesting I woudn't take no for an answer. I had grown found of this female dragon and I wasn't going to let anything happen to her.

Felene let out a sound that was a mixture of a sigh and a cry of pain. She tried to get up, but collapsed at her side. "Take me back to the den." She said, breathing heavily. Her side felt bruised from the fall, and the pressure of her body on her wing. She rolled upright and looked at the deer, not wanting to waste it, but made no effort to do anything about it.

I nodded then as gently as I could I placed Felene on my back in between my wings. I grabbed the deer in my claws and flew out of the den, not going fast as I normally would. I slowly started to fly towards the other den, being careful not to drop or hurt Felene.

Felene made an effort to not slide. She could feel herself slip just a fraction of an inch, which only made her become more panicked. She closed her eyes, fighting nausea that was growing inside.

I slipped into the other den and set Felene done in the nest I had made under an outcropping. Then I put the deer on the pile of food we had gathered.

Felene opened her eyes just a bit, her eyelids having come accustomed to being closed. She was still as she felt herself being lifted onto the nest. She straightened out her tail and rolled around to a comfortable position. Once he was gone, she opened her eyes. She barely had enough energy to stay awake, or try and remember what happened. She didn't have the will to keep her eyes open, so her eyelids drooped, then shut. Her mind felt foggy and she took a deep breath, falling asleep.

I walked back over to Felene and saw she was asleep. I slowly and gently curled myself around her, offering her warmth and protection. I placed my head on fore feet and closed my eyes.

Felene didn't register his touch all over her body, but she could feel his warmth. She didn't know what it was, bust she rubbed against it. She was asleep, but only for a few hours. When she woke it must have been in the middle of the night, but she couldn't tell. She couldn't see the sky outside, but her muscles felt better. Good enough to fly where she needed to go. She stretched her limbs, making her feel more tired. Her mind was fuzzy, but she didn't want to leave him. He was warm and all around her. Letting out a soft purring sound, she thought that she might have jumped at the chance to sneak out any other night.

I felt Felene stirring and I lifted my head. "You okay?" I asked.

She positioned her head on his body, making it comfortable for her. She felt relaxed hearing his breathing and the steady rise and fall of his chest. He was alive, and safe, for now anyway. She let her maw crack open a bit, then she stiffened when she heard him speak. She didn't know what to expect, but the strong desire to answer him woke her up. "Yeah." She muttered, quickly getting up and stretching. She didn't think much of it until she stepped over his tail, then her muscles seemed to lock up. What felt like all of her muscles started to cramp, causing pain. She opened her mouth to let out a yell before it was gone, leaving her falling towards the floor.

I saw Felene start to fall and I quickly moved to her side and supported her so she wouldn't fall.

Felene was still for a moment, searching for traces of pain. It was nothing but a distant memory now, and she could barely summon what she felt. She bounced back up, breathing deeply. She paced around in front of the den entrance, not sure if another cramp was coming. "I'm going...soon." She said to him, hesitating before finishing it. She wanted to stay longer, possibly midnight, but she guessed that she changed her mind.

"Okay." I replied, knowing it was useless to stop Felene. I wanted her to stay and just forget about what she had to do. I wanted us to have a life together, but she obviously wasn't ready for that yet.

"Where's the food?" She asked, hoping to change the subject. But every time she would look at him it would make her feel guilty. She turned her head away from him to try and keep the guilt out.

"Here." I said, walking over to the food pile and tossing her a rabbit.

Felene grunted as she looked at the rabbit. She felt empathy for her prey again. She held her tongue though, not wanting to just leave it to rot. She bit off a few chunks and chewed, staring at Shadow. Finally she swallowed the rabbit whole, and turned towards the den entrance. She urged herself to move, but she just couldn't. Her claws dug into the earth as she ordered out her thoughts. She opened her mouth to say something, then closed it, and opened it again. "Come with me." She blurted out, not able to stand the feelings that were coming up from just looking at him.

My eyes widened when Felene told me to come with her. I walked up to her and gently nuzzled her neck then I said, "Are you sure?"

Felene breathed deeply when he nuzzled her, thinking that the trip would be better with him there. "Y-yes." She said, but turned her head away. "Make sure you're ready, or are you ready right now?" She asked, slipping out of the den entrance. She looked up at the sky, her wings tense for the long flight. She wondered if he would stop her if he knew where she was going. She would have to go or she would eventually run into them, just with more to lose.

"I'm ready now." I replied, following her out of the den. I stretched out my huge black wings and got ready for our impending flight.

Felene hunched her shoulders, lowering her head away from him. But she breathed in deeply, then opened her wings. "I know where to find them." She said loudly, bracing herself. She wasn't sure how he'd react to what she just said, and she wanted to distance herself from him. She felt like he was doing the thinking for her, which she didn't like. Her tail whipped from side to side, then she took off running. Only just a few steps, though she gathered speed quickly. Her wings were spread out next to her, and she flapped quickly once she jumped up. She flapped them harder and harder, grinding her teeth from the effort it took. She was gaining height fast. She angled herself down a bit, picking up some speed, then spread her wings out. She breathed deeply, allowing herself to glide for a bit. She flapped a bit so she wouldn't fall too quickly.
