Shadow

I had smiled at Felene and was about to answer her when she started to plummet toward the ground. I acted quickly, shooting towards the ground. When I was below Felene I flapped my huge black wings hard and shot up to meet her. When she landed on me it almost sent me plummeting down but I kept flapping my wings and I continued to rise, now with Felene on my back. "Are you okay?" I asked, concerned, as I kept flying upwards.

"I think so..." She said, her breathing ragged. She rested herself on his back, letting the doe rest on him too. She felt dizzy a bit, but she didn't want to put so much weight on him. "Ca-Can we land?" She said, speaking quickly so she could take another breath. She felt almost like laying on his back, but remained in her seated position. She staggered a bit as she tried to balance herself on his back.

Shadow

"Yes. We can land." I said, quickly correcting myself as she stumbled so she wouldn't fall. He angled himself towards a nearby cave and slowly landed. When he had he layed down so Felene could get off of his back.

Felene let out an audible sigh of relief and hopped off her back, still holding on to the doe. She felt it bring her down faster, and it landed with a heavy smack on the ground. "I-I-I just have a hard time...." She felt out a breath and continued to breath more, hoping to finish the sentence. She didn't want him to know how weak she was, though she didn't want to tire herself out keeping up. "I have a hard time lifting heavy things." She explained, letting the doe out of her mouth. "Shall we eat?" She said, then gnawed at her food lightly. She really wasn't feeling up to eating now, but she forced herself to rip a piece of meat out from it's neck.

"I see." I said. Then I settled down and started eating the doe had I gotten for myself.

Felene soon started to pick at the meat, before she kicked herself. She needed to eat, it was a free meal. She would be regretting this decision, and she might not even eat today! As her mental battle raged on, one soon found it victorious and she began to eat. It slid down her throat, and she found it wasn't that bad. She was getting her appetite back. Chewing on different parts of the doe, she was surprised that she had eaten all of it. Her belly was big and she felt like taking a nap, but she had company. Turning towards Shadow, she let her eyelids fall. "Well if you don't want to do anything else, I'll be going..." She said, muttering it. She leaned on a nearby tree for support.

Shadow

I had finished my doe and was standing up to stretch when Felene's comment hit my ears. I looked over to see her drooping eyelids and her leaning against a tree and I said, "You should probably rest first. You don't want to fall asleep while you're flying." I was genuily concerned for her safety.

"Oh well I-I....my den isn't that far away from here so I'll fly..." She said groggily and managed to balance on her feet. Flapping quickly, she tried to wake herself up without success. She managed to gain height and left Shadow's figure below her, while she looked at the massive grey clouds coming towards her. It looked like the clouds would meet in a single point, making strong winds. She shuddered at the thought, not wanting to fly during a tornado. With her dull senses, it took her a while to notice a grey figure coming towards her. She focused on it, but her eyes blurred. Shaking her head she was finally able to process the being. She noticed that the figure had scales and eyes, with wings. It took her a while to know that she was always being hunted, being softened up by Shadow's appearance. The dragon sped up, coming faster and faster. She flapped her wings harder and dropped altitude, but the dragon was going to fast. Despite her gaining speed, she could still see the dragon-it's mouth wide open. She felt cold fear trickle down her as the mouth began to glow, and she soon did a steep dive. A blast of fire suddenly went off, slightly burning her wings. Falling fast towards the ground, she wondered why she was still tired. Flapping towards the forest, the dragon kept pace with her. With horror she realized her wings were becoming stiff, and her limbs only twitched when she tried to move them.

Shadow

I saw the dragon right before Felene took off. "Felene! Don't-!" I called out but she had already left. I watched helplessly as the dragon attacked her. As she started to fall I ran to the edge and jumped off, snapping my wings out and shooting into the sky. I shot towards the dragon, roaring and letting out my own blast of fire. It hit the dragon and it screeched and went hurtling toward the ground. I turned my attention away from it and towards Felene. Seeing she was falling I quickly shot towards the ground. Then I came up underneath her and she landed on my back. I flapped my wings hard and raised into the sky. "Well, here I am, rescuing you yet again." I said jokingly, hoping to cheer and wake her up.

Felene would have tried to push her away if her limbs could do anything. The screech of the dragon was still in her ears, and her wings started to become stiffer and stiffer. Right before she was about to fall, she saw Shadow run up beneath her. Her wings could only do tiny flapping motions, and she tried to draw in her wings. It took effort, but she managed to draw them in before her eyelids began to drop. She desperately tried to keep them up. She was barely awake as Shadow moved, though she felt herself slipping. Finally, she closed her eyes. She managed to hear a roar from somewhere around her, though her consciousnesses slipped away right after.

Shadow

I felt Felene fall asleep as I started to angle myself towards my den. I gently slipped through the hole in trees and landed on the floor of my den. I gently let her slid off of me. Then I curled up around, noticing I was several times bigger than her, trying to keep her warm as she slept.

Felene was aware of something big around her, keeping her warm, but she didn't know what. She felt herself go in and out of consciousness for a while, but she managed to grab a hold. A few hours passed before she was able to open her eyes, and the place seemed different. She could hear the faint birds off in the distance, but she could also hear breathing. Getting up quickly, she tried to get away from it. She collapsed on her legs, but continued to get up. After more attempts, she laid exhausted on the ground, but held her tail out. "Go away..." She managed to yell, though it sounded pitiful.

Shadow

I jerked awake when Felene started to struggle. I watched as she collasped and heard her cry out. "Felene! Calm down! It's only me." I said, my mouth close to her ear. I was hoping to calm her down.

Felene struggled more as she felt the breathing get closer to her, and held her tail spike out. She hadn't used it in awhile, but she hesitated as she heard it scraping against the floor. Hot breath flooded her ear and she let out a squeal, her blade now sliding on the ground. She hesitated when she was about to stab what felt like a leg, and heard the familiar voice. It took her a moment to remember, and she went still. Sliding the blade back in, she laid still for several more moments. Finally, she managed to locate where she heard it before. "Uhhh...Shadow?"

Shadow

I watched Felene's tail spike warily until she pulled back in and adressed me. "Yes. It's me. Are you feeling okay?" I reassured her, concerned about her.

Felene managed to crawl away from him some more, uncomfortable about the closeness of his body. The tiny effort took the wind out of her, and she breathed hard. Finally she looked at Shadow in the almost nonexistent light. "I-I just need to get bacccck to my den." She was confused about why her voice had slurred, but she put it off as exhaustion. Crawling out of his den, she poked her head through and rustled her wings. They felt stiff and numb, almost like if they were frozen in ice. As she poked her head out, she heard rustling nearby. Before she had time to pull back in, a giant claw grabbed her whole head. She let out a strangled roar as it pulled her easily out of the den. She opened her eyes and saw the giant green dragon, and it threw her in the air. She hadn't even been able to open her wings before she caught images of the tree's blurred, then the sky. She wondered why she was seeing the afternoon sky. The wind blew back as she began to fall, though she felt numb. She almost hit a tree when another dragon grabbed her body in it's claws, bringing her up by it's belly. She gazed at the scales, unable to process thought about what was going on. Her body went limp again, and she could only move her head. She didn't even feel panic, but watched as the trees started to become smaller and smaller.

Shadow

When I saw Felene get snatched up by the other dragon I shot out of my den and aimed for the dragon that now had Felene pushed against it's belly. I let out a deafening roar and soared higher, going above the other dragon. Then I aimed myself down at it and started for it. I dug my claws into it's wings and roared as I began to beat the dragon with my huge black wings.

Felene felt the dragon's grip tighten on her, squeezing the air out of her. She felt like she was about to be squished when the dragon let go. She dropped like a mallet, and she tried to open her wings. She was numb to the feeling of falling and the air around her, but the trees were becoming closer and closer. She didn't feel calm, she felt fear. As the drug moved out of her body, she started to thrash around her legs. She spread out her wings, slowing her descent. She was still slow and numb, though she managed to glide to a tree. Bracing herself for impact, she collided with the trunk of a tree. She inserted her claws into the bark, but was slowly falling off. Flapping her wings as fast as she could, she only made it worse. Finally, her claws chipped the bark that she was hanging on to, and she fell. She tried to find something to grab onto, but her claws only made marks on the tree. She put both feet on the tree, still trying to slow her fall. She kept falling, and she knew that it wasn't long before she would hit the bottom. Finding the right moment, she pushed off the tree with her back legs. She sprang forward to a nearby branch, and she gripped it. Pulling herself up slowly, she regained her breath as she wondered where Shadow was.

Shadow

I saw Felene escape so I let go and let out one final roar directed at the dragon, fire pouring out of my mouth. The dragon roared in pain and started to plumit to the ground. I turned away and angled myself toward the ground, spotting Felene. I quickly flew down to her and landed on the branch beside her. "Are you okay?" I asked, nuzzling her neck gently out of concern.

Felene rested herself on his neck, not bothering to back away from his touch. More sounds filled the area, and she felt her energy surge. Almost at once, she regained control of her limbs. "I have to go now, the area isn't safe anymore. I'm sorry I got you tangled in this mess, and they might hunt you down too. Once I get some-" Her words were interrupted by a snort, then a sucking noise. She jumped off the branch as a claw reached and broke the branch she was just on, following by a massive jet of fire. The tree was engulfed in flames, causing animals to scream in panic. She scrambled to find her way to her den, hoping that she could make it. The tree soon was kicked over by the dragon, golden with blue eyes. Another one soon followed up, then the same one that had grabbed here. "There!" Screamed the golden one, and they chased after her. Recognizing her tree, she quickly flew up and inside the hole.
She maybe had seconds to get what she needed before she was grabbed, or killed. She grabbed a pack full of items, then went lower in the tree. As she started to grab plants and powders, a loud creaking sound soon came above her. The tree shook, and a claw reached into the hole. Then a loud grunting noise came from two dragons, and half of the tree was sliced off. It landed with a huge boom and they reached in with there claws. She let out a squeal and began to run farther down, until a giant claw reached through the wood and grabbed her. The silver one that had first appeared was now trying to break the wood and pull her out. She let out her blade and let it slice the dragon's arm. It let out a roar and started to pull harder, creating cracks in the wood. Pushing out more poison in her tail, she stabbed his arm. She saw through the dim light that drops of liquid were now on his arm, and he soon went limp. She landed at the end of the tree, and stared in horror as claws started to cut there way through the wood. Two pairs of claws soon started to feel their way to her, but she quickly left the bottom. She climbed up, knowing that something might be waiting for her, and snapped at her wings. She waited a moment, until she saw a green figure. Jumping up, she flapped hard and fast as it roared. The other dragons looked up, then began to chase after her.

Shadow

I shot out of the tree in time to see Felene fly away while being chased by a few dragons. I let out a roar and a blast of flame hit one of them and he went screeching to the ground. Another turned and saw me and let out a roar and hurtled himself towards me. I quickly shot higher into the sky, the dragon hot on my tail.

Felene's head shot back as she saw Shadow coming up, another dragon attacking him. "Shadow run!!" She roared, trying to reach him over the distance. The remaining dragons soon started to fly towards her, coming in fast. She wanted to save him, but she would probably just make it worse. She hesitated and roared to try and reach them, but the dragons were now closing in. She turned her back towards him and started to fly down, the dragons hot on her tail. She could feel the sucking in of the dragons mouth, about to produce fire. She snapped her wings in and went into free fall, missing the jet of flame by a few feet. The quickly dived to get her, but she quickly changed direction. She angled her wings to continue her dive, though in a matter of seconds, completely changed direction. She let out a grunt as her wings painfully reminded her of the wind. The dragons quickly turned after her, but bumped into each other. They roared at one another, and pushed, but steadily made their way towards her. She was already shooting across the sky, going as fast as she dared. She didn't want to miss her target, or lose her sack of precious items. Closing the distance in seconds, she quickly spotted the dragon aiming for Shadow's throat. Dropping her wings, she let out a screech and sliced the top of the dragon's neck. It's head whipped back, but it soon started to drop to the ground. "Shadow, go! They will want you too now!" She roared, then started to fly off in the opposite direction of the approaching dragons. Flying fast, she hoped that Shadow had heeded her warning.

Shadow

"Okay!" Shadow roared after her. He tried to decide if he should follow her or go somewhere else. A dragon hurtling at him from the side helped make his decision and he shot after Felene, his body a blur as his wings flapped the hardest they could.

Felene started to beat faster, feeling her wings become numb, but she kept flapping. Soon the tree's were beginning to blur. She looked back at him, sympathy digging at her like a thorn. It was almost painful to watch him tire himself, he would get caught before he left the forest. Slowing down, the effects of flying so fast hit her hard, she faltered a bit but regained her balance. She started to fly in the opposite direction, meeting him in the air. The familiar bodies of the dragon's were gaining ground, and fast. "I'm sorry I got you into this, so I'll get you out. Hold this, don't let anything happen to it, okay?" She pressed the bag to his chest, then whipped her head at the dragons. She suddenly started flapping faster towards them, her tail whipping back in forth. Breaking in the middle, they quickly dispersed and all started to follow her. Flying up, she quickly lost speed, and thought that she might be able to fly above the clouds. The dragons followed more cautiously this time, but it was still enough. She lost speed quickly and stopped flapping, then started to fall. She was dead weight, and saw a dragon. Letting out a shriek, she dived straight through it's claws, letter her blade slice a deep cut on it's chest. It let out a roar and began to fall to the ground, blood falling in front of him. She felt a pang of sorrow, but she was soon grabbed from behind. She stuck the blade up the dragon's stomach, causing it to throw her. She was left dizzy from the throw, but began to spin with her blade out. She felt it slice flesh, and then lightly bounce of scales. Falling faster, she could soon see Shadow's shape. As she started to dive, she could barely breath. Turning her belly up, she quickly saw a dragon trying to reach for her. It tried to pull back it's hand, and missed her blade just by inches. She let out a fustrated grunt and began to fly the opposite direction from Shadow, hoping to draw attention from him.

Shadow

I grabbed the bag from her and watched as she fought the dragons, impressed by her skill. Then I smiled. At first it had been me saving her. Now it was her saving me.
