Rachel could hear the small oddity in Xavier's voice as he replied, but she dare not question him further. She was just about to look back out at the never ending blue that coated the surface of the ocean when he spoke up again. Her mind couldn't help feeling surprise at how talkative he suddenly was. He never showed interest in speaking to her, but now he couldn't stop. A smile split across her smooth lips and she shook he head softly. "No... I wasn't given the pleasure. My mom still loves my dad... But he ran off when I was young and I haven't heard of him since" She replied, and shrugged lightly. Her expression wasn't tight or sorrowful, because she honestly didn't care. Rachel though that if he didn't care to have anything to do with her, and she didn't know him enough to miss him, then why bother?

Xavier gave a light nod to to her words and then turned around in his seat with a contented sigh. Blake glanced back at Rachel. "He'll become is quiet, broody self in about half hour. Don't worry, he hasn't lost his mind...completely," Blake said with a light laugh before looking back at the road. They got back to Blakes house nad he parked it in the garage and jumped out, pulling out the keys. "Did you guys have any plans this afternoon? Or did you want to do something together, instead of just splittin' now?" Blake asked and Xavier shrugged. It hadn't been about 20 minutes and he already fallen to his quiet self. A little shorter time then Blake had said, but close enough. "I don't mind," Xavier finally replied and Blake looked at Rachel expectantly.

Rachel frowned as Blake explained the situation. "You really should just stay talkative" She said, her voice was light hearted but honestly, she'd like it if he was a little more conversational. Her eyes turned away from the two before her and looked out towards the side of the road. Two steady yellow lines periodically broke apart into dashes, taking turns breaking and then going solid once more. Rachel looked up as they pulled to a stop, and she climbed out of the vehicle. Her hand swiped at a rogue strand of sandy blonde hair as she listened to Blake. She shrugged, and pushed her slender hands into the back pockets of her pants. "I don't mind, and my mom won't either. She works all day long" She laughed, and looked over at Xavier. Her smile was quick, then she turned back to the slightly more welcoming of the two. They were both polite, but something about Xavier made her nervous.

Blake grinned at her words and then he cocked his head to the side, thinking. "Okay, so where do you guys want to go? I don't mind even if it involves driving again, just as long as it's good," he said with a smirk. Xavier looked at Blake and gave a shrug. Afterall, he had already gone where he wanted to go. So there wasn't really anywhere else he wanted to go. They both looked at Rachel, waiting for an answer.

Rachel turned to look at Xavier for a reference, but he was looking at Blake. Frowning, she looked over at Blake and shrugged. "Just ask the new girl, the one who doesn't know anything about the place" She teased, and laughed quietly for a moment. Her eyes turned out to the water, then over at the town. "It's up to you" She said. Secretly, she hoped neither one of them enjoyed swimming.

"What about the beach?" Xavier asked softly. Blake thought about it for a moment and then shook his head. "Nah. I doubt she wants to go there. She doesn't have a swim suit with her," he said and looked at Rachel and then gave a wide grin. Xavier gave a shrug and looked away fromt he both of them. It's not like he really cared where they went or anything. It was just a suggestion. "Honestly?" Blake said, "I have no idea. My mind is completely out of ideas of what we could do... Well isn't this exciting," he said after a few moments and then cocked his ehad to the side. "You sure there's nothing you want to do, rach?" Blake asked, looking at her.

Rachel's heart leaped up into her throat at the mention of the beach. To stifle her expression, she coughed slightly as though she had a cold. She felt she had played the small outburst off quite well. Her grin was small yet adorable when she looked up at them apologetically. "I uh... I can't swim" She stammered, thinking on the spot. Rachel felt her cheeks flame up and looked down at her shoes. Her toes lifted as she leaned back on her heels, and she stuffed her hands into the back pockets of her shorts. When Blake asked if there was anything else she could think of her dark green eyes turned up to meet his. He was a good foot or so taller than she was. "Sorry.. I just don't know..." She said and the corner of her lips tugged down in thought. "Maybe we could throw a party?" She said and chuckled. It was a lame suggestion, but it might give her a chance to slip some conversation from Xavier.

Blake looked Rachel as she admitted she couldn't swim. He stared at her in surprise and then grinned. "One day, we should teach you. Not now, though, obviously," he said and then she suggested a party. He looked at Xavier, "what do you think of that?" he asked the other man. He shrugged and looked at Blake and rachel. "Sure, why not?" he said. "Okay then, i'll go get the boys, you and Rach go buy some things," he said and then pulled out his wallet and threw it to Xavier, who caught it with ease. "Don't spend it all," he said and then jogged off. Xavier shook his head and then glanced at Rachel. "Better go get everything," he said softly before he started walking, waiting for Rachel a moment later before walking down the street again.

A small laugh fell from the girl's lips. "Yea... Maybe" She said nervously, then looked over at Xavier as he caught the wallet. A slight grin lifted on her lips and she nodded. "Yea" She said with a chuckle and moved to catch up with him. When they started walking in stride, she felt uncomfortable. Should she say something? Then again, he probably felt like he had been forced to bring her along. The thought made her turn her gaze aside to the road she was walking beside. It was rush hour, and several cars were backed up at a light. Did he even care to get to know her, or was she wasting her time? Shaking her head, Rachel looked back at the sidewalk she was walking along. Rachel, you're being silly. Just stop this nonsense before it gets out of hand.

Xavier kept walking, however he noticed Rachel discomfort and he glanced across at her as she watched the traffic. Should he say something? Well, it's not like he was very talkative person, so it didn't really matter either way, did it? When she finally looked at the pathway, Xavier sighed. "You alright?" he asked her, looking down at her and moved his hair from his eyes as he waited patiently for her answer. He didn't really care whether she answered or not, really. That's what he told himself anyway.

Rachel's stomach fluttered, both angering her and making her feel even more discomfort. She flashed a sweet smile to the left at him, and she shrugged. Her eyes turned towards the sidewalk, but further up than she had before. "Yea, I'm alright" She said quietly. What a stupid reply! She exhaled slowly, trying to clear her crazed mind. Never, ever, had she felt this way. She never even found guys attractive until now. She had prided herself on that, smug that she wasn't those love-driven girls that are always on silly television shows. Now, she felt like little more than a silly girl with a crush on some high ranking, out-of-her-league guy.

Xavier listened to her reply, but he didn't really believe it all that much, but he let it slide. He didn't like tohers prying into his life, he wouldn't do it to her. "Okay then," he said lightly before giving a light sigh. They soon got to the shops and he went inside, where he got a few snack and drinks and then looked at Rachel. "Can you think of anything else we might need?" he asked her.

Rachel felt awkward, and was relieved when they finally reached the stores. She stepped inside and walked in Xavier's footsteps as they wandered about. When he turned around, she stopped abruptly to listen to his words. The girl shrugged and her eyes turned to trail the aisle that was lined with snacks of all assortments. "Ummm... Not really... We've got pretty much everything I can think of..." Her voice trailed away in thought. When she turned back to him, her lips turned up in a grin. "You're the expert here" She teased.

Xavier nodded when Rachel said she didn't know. Then she said he was the expert and he looked at her for a few moments befor looking away and shaking his head lightly. "Not really. I've never gotten the stuff for the parties. I'm just expected to show up," he said honestly before he went and paid for what he had. Taking the bags, he left the store and walked down the street, pauding only to wait for rachel to catch up.

Rachel's glow faded as he dismissed her comment, and she trailed after him. This time, she hung back though. Her eyes turned to the rows of snack items, she pretended to be preoccupied with their contents. A small, inaudible sigh parted the girl's lips. Why wouldn't he just let her in? Accept that she not only wanted, but practically needed, to break his shell of silence. It was eating her up inside, destroying her each time he answered her with a guarded reply. She turned up when the bell of the door chimed loudly, and she followed Xavier into the midday sun.

Xavier glanced at Rachel and then held all the bags in one hand and grabbed his phone. Scrolling through his contacts until he found Blake, he pressed the call button and put the phone to his ear. Once he answered, Xavier asked, "which house are we having it at?" a pause, "no. We're not having it at my place," Xavier snapped, "I don't care if you guys have never been there, Blake. You are not having it at my place." he snapped again, "Blake, fuck off, i'm taking it all to your place," Xavier said and hung up. He shoved his phone in his pocket and ran his hand through his hair with a sigh. He glanced at Rachel, "sorry bout that," he said lightly.

Rachel's eyes widened at his words, and she stepped aside slightly. Her feet now a full foot from his. She listened, with her gaze low and her mind pulling the strings of the conversation together in order to infer the rest. She assumed Xavier was incredibly secretive about his home, and that he truly didn't want them over. This spiked her curiosity, yes, but she dared not mention it once he hung up. The girl's eyes were focused ahead, but in her peripheral vision she watched him replace the phone in his pocket. When he apologized, her head shot up and she looked over at him. "I-" she started, but her voice was weak and sounded strange. Rachel cleared her throat and shook her head, turning her eyes back to the sidewalk. "It's fine," she said once she was confident in her voice, this time sounding normal.

Xavier sighed again as she replied and looked ahead. "I, uh," he started and then paused, "I just don't like people coming over to my place..." he said and looked at Rachel, "It's probably because," he stopped himself from speaking and shook his head, "no, it's nothing," he said. Why was he just about to speak to her about why he didn't like people over at his place? He never spoke to anyone about his personal life. Never. Blake didn't even know anything. That was mainly because the group rarely tried to find out anymore after coming to know he didn't talk about it. And yet, he was just about to speak to this girl he hardly even knew.

Rachel's heart fluttered and her eyes flickered expectantly to Xavier. However, just as he was about to give his reasoning. Her eyes were trained on his profile, he was just as good looking from that angle. She felt embarrassed at the thought but kept her gaze on him, even as he told her it was nothing. Rachel's hair danced across her shoulders as she shook her head, and she managed to keep walking straight although she looked to him. "It's clearly something... And something that I'd like to hear about. I understand if you don't feel comfortable talking to me about it, though," she said, and at last she turned her gaze back to her path.

Xavier looked at Rachel and sighed and shook his head. "No, it's not that... It's more, that it's hard to talk about it," he said truthfully before crossing an empty road. Soon enough, he came to Blake's place and he dropped the stuff infront of her door. He wasn't back yet. He glanced at Rachel. "Sorry. I can show you one day, if you wan, maybe," he said and gave an ever so soft smile. He didn't rally want to. But he got the feeling that Rachel wouldn't say anything to anyone if he did.

Rachel didn't speak a word after he told her it was just because it was painful to talk about. She walked alongside him, using her eyesight to guide her feet beside his. Her hand fluttered up to tuck a strand of her hair behind her ear and she stopped as he did. Then, she lifted her head to look at the groceries. Finally, she looked back to him as he spoke. Rachel shrugged, but sensed that he didn't truly care to show her anything. Her lips straightened and then tipped in a forced smile, it was small and hopefully convincing. "That would be nice" She said quietly, and nodded slightly

Xavier gave a soft nod and then, from down the street, noises could be heard clearly. Loud, joking voices. Soon enough, Blake, Caspian Koiya and Markus came into view, shoving eachother and laughing at something which must have been funny. Xavier looked at them and then looked down the other side of the street. Koiya, Caspian and Markus saw Rachel and they smiled, "hey, Rach!" they called over to her and they ran over to each give her a massive bear hug, though Markus stood back from any hugging. Blake smiled at the group nd he met Xavier's gaze and sighed before walking over to them.

Rachel turned her eyes up at the sound of the approaching boys. Their booming voices seemed to silence everything else, and she chuckled as they called to her. Her hand reached up and pulled a rogue strand of hair behind her ear just as one lifted her into a hug. She winced, and managed to keep her tip toes on the ground. A sound escaped her lips similar to a groan as she tried to breath behind his embrace, and when he let go she drew in a relieved breath. "Nice to see you too" she joked, and peered around them to see Blake slowly make his way over. His gaze was at her right, and she followed it to see a now silent Xavier. So it was them, mostly, that squelched him. Her lips tucked down a moment before she looked back at her feet and awaited the next task.

Blake came up to them and smiled. "Okay, so I guess we'll have it at my place. Okay, now, time to set everything up, ey?" he said with a grin as he unlocked the door adn walked inside, grabbing a few of the bags. The other guys grabbed a couple and walked inside, Xavier following behind them after he let Rachel walk in. "Caspian, take all the glass stuff to the shed out back. Don't want it broken," he said and the boy nodded and got to work. "Xavier and Rachel, unpack this stuff. Obviously, snacks stay out and drinks in the fridge. The rest of you guys, upstairs with me," he said and went upstairs, Markus and Koiya following suit. Xavier got to work unpacking the stuff, putting a few of the drinks in the fridge.

Rachel got a strange feeling about how uniformed the procedure seemed, but she kept her thoughts silent as she did as Blake asked. Occasionally she snuck a glance at Xavier, but only twice. He seemed different now that the rest were here. She placed a few drinks in the fridge and stood. The door shut lazily, but it's latch clicked loudly in the thick silence.
