Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Eric wished that he had some way to contact Leah. He knew her cell phone was broken, and mentally punched himself. Why hadn't he given her his? Or something!? His mind reeled, trying to remember places that Leah had been. Where would she be hiding, where!? He walked down the sidewalk, a crinkled twenty dollar bill folded in his palm. Stuffing it into his pocket, he narrowed his eyes.

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Only the voice of her father bellowing up the stairs brought Leah out of her misery. She kissed the washrag that now smelled faintly of Eric and more of her tears and make-up, Leah got to her feet and tossed the washrag into the dirty clothes bin, washed her face, and reapplied her make-up. There was a banging on the window outside, and Leah was tempted to go see what it was, but she knew her father would be even angrier if she kept him waiting.
Hurrying down the stairs, Leah nodded at her father casually, “I’ll get right onto chores, sir,” Leah commented, moving to go do the dishes that were in two stacks, each one almost a foot high, when her father said,
“Since you were a good girl and came home to us, Liam is outside removing the boards on your window. The bars will stay up, but the boards will come off.”
“Thank you, sir,” Leah said before moving to the dishes.

She wouldn't be there, would she!? Eric stopped in front of Leah's house, his dark eyes gazing up at the structure. Wearing all black clothing, he looked out of place as he stood there, unmoving. Would it hurt to check? Probably, but he couldn't risk passing Leah up. Stepping to the front door, he rang the doorbell multiple times and waited.

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Leah groaned when she heard the doorbell.
“Leah!” her father snapped, “Go get the door!”
“Yes sir,” Leah said, her sleeves rolled up and a cooking apron on, soaked with bubbles from the dishwasher soap from the top of her chest to her waist. She didn’t bother to fix her appearance as she opened the door, her heart catching in her throat when she saw who it was. She had half the mind to slam the door in his face, but instead she just stared, trembling slightly.
“E-Eric?” She murmured. “I thought… I thought I told you not to come looking for me!”

Eric was ready to turn away as he heard muffled shouting in the house, the unmistakeable voice of Joseph. He closed his eyes for a split second, and turned his back on the door, before he heard it open, and stop. Slowly, Eric turned around, his eyes widening at the sight in front of him. He didn't know what to say, didn't know what to do. He yearned to run to her, scoop her up in his arms, but something held him back. As Leah spoke, his straightened slightly, then shook his head, still speechless. "After everything I, we did for you," His voice was hurt and unbelieving, "You do this!?"

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Leah, in complete honesty, was hurt by his accusing words. “Eric, you don’t really believe I wanted this, do you?” Leah whispered, her voice cracking slightly. She could feel tears already welling up behind her eyes. “You don’t really believe that I left you, after I told you I loved you, that I left you just to break your heart? Me, of all people? After losing Micah, you don’t know how hard the decision was for me to make. But I’m here now. And you shouldn’t be. If my father sees you…” Leah trailed off, letting a tear fall down her cheek. She wanted to hug him and beg for his forgiveness, but she couldn’t bring herself to do it. “I didn’t want to leave,” Leah repeated softly, staring at the ground by his feet. “But I did what I had to do.”

"You know what!?" Eric was filled with a fury that seemed to take over his very being. If she could just hear herself! "You say that you love me, but leaving when you get the first chance doesent really show that!" He felt tears starting to form in his eyes, and winced slightly. "Well, I dont know what you left for! Because I sure do know that you broke my heart in the process Leah! What was more important that me! Why did you just lead me on like that!"

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Leah shook her head, “I left because I was scared!” she said heatedly, her stance going rigid. “I left because I was scared I’d eventually lose you! Whether it was through my parents gaining custody of me again or if it was death, way in the future. I was scared I’d lose you after I got so attached…” Leah closed her eyes, taking in a centering breath and holding back the tears. “Eric, you’re acting like I didn’t hurt myself. It hurts me as much as it does you, whether you believe it or not,” Leah said in a monotone. “I do love you, and I can promise you I always will. But I can’t lose another man I’ve fallen head-over-heels for. I can’t let it happen again.”

A forced, angry smile came to Eric's lips, his eyes glittering with unshed tears. Pain was written clearly over his features, and he set his jaw tightly, blinking once and feeling tears start to cascade down his cheeks.. "You forgot to notice, that you're actions effect more than yourself, Leah." He shook his head slowly, staring into her eyes with a very intense gaze, as if he was trying to see what she was thinking. "Because you changed more than just your life." He pulled out the train ticket from his pocket, and pursed his lips. "I'm going now. You're better off by yourself now anyway."

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Leah opened her mouth to say something when her eyes landed on the train ticket. Her heart clenched painfully, and she couldn’t keep back the tears any longer. “I’m sorry!” she blurted out. “I’m sorry I screwed up Eric!” Leah shook her head and cupped her head in her hands. It took her a moment to gather herself enough to speak again, knowing her eye makeup was probably smeared. “I’m sorry I can’t be everything you want. But I’m not going to stop you from leaving if that’s what you really want.” Leah paused a moment, her voice soft and wavering, “I’ll miss you.” Leah said, kissing him gently once before turning around and closing the dear, silent tears cascading down her cheeks like a waterfall.

"No!" Tears were now streaming over Eric's bruised cheeks. "I dont want anything more than you Leah! I dont know why you didn't stay! What did I do to make you go!" He cried out, uttering out his thoughts, trying to sort out what was happening in his head.
"Did you really think I could just. go on?" His words were soft and quiet, and he closed his eyes, his head falling back onto his chest. He felt someone brush against him, and felt Leah's lips on his, before she ran up to the house and closed the door, leaving Eric alone. His ticket was fluttering slightly, clenched in between his fingers.

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
[ Dx this is so sad, I wonder what’s going to happen… ]
Leah shook her head, “You didn’t do anything,” she managed to utter before the door shut completely. Her father, much to her surprise and horror, was standing behind her, and when she turned around she almost ran into him.
“I see you haven’t lost contact with your friend with benefits, dear,” Joseph snarled. “Maybe I should just go teach him a lesson to stay away from you from now on…”
“NO!” Leah shouted, pushing her father back. “I came back here so you’d leave him alone! I came here so he wouldn’t get hurt! So you’re going to leave him alone!” Leah was faintly aware that Eric might be able to hear her shouting, but she was blinded by anger and tears and depression, making it nigh impossible for her to care at that moment.

(....*sigh* I'm crying again. It's like a sad movie that you have to keep watching. Eric's going to come back later that night, and have an extra train ticket for Leah.)
Eric heard muffled shouts inside of the house, and stood there, blankly staring at the door. His face was expressionless, backpack heavily slung over his shoulders. This was...it? Shaking his head once, his face set with determination, and he turned, striding purposfully from the door and shoving his hand deep into his pocket. Not there, no. He checked all of his pockets, before finding the wrinkled twenty dollar bill, and he smoothed it out on his thy, before leaving and walking down the sidewalk without a last glance.

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Leah wiped her eyes gently after yelling at her father and returned to her chores. Her heart was heavy and she regretted everything. She regretted leaving Eric, she regretted breaking his heart, and she regretted coming back here, instead of somewhere else. Her own heart was as equally crushed, and she was worried that at any moment it would cease to beat, and she’d just die instantaneously. Now that Leah had lost Eric, she was finding she didn’t mind the idea that much. At least, she thought, she’d gotten to kiss him one last time and tell him that she was sorry—she only feared he didn’t understand how sorry she really was.

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Exchanging his money for another ticket, Eric thanked the man and stuffed it into the pocket of his black skinny jeans. His oversised black sweatshirt hung on his body, and he turned from the booth and made his way out of the train station. It was the only way. Dressed in all black, he only dressed like this when something was seriously wrong. He was depressed beyond all reasoning, and no longer cared about anything... Exept for Leah. Knowing that she had forsaken him, knowing that she had broken his heart, knowing that she didn't really love him made Eric's heart ache, feeling as if he was going to keel over at any moment and just... die.

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Leah’s mind wandered all day. Her hands were almost baby-smooth from all the suds and cleaning supplies she’d used to finish the chores. But now she was finished, and she sat on her bed, her knees curled up to her chest, chin resting in between them as she watched the sunset go down, wondering if Eric was watching the same sunset.
It wouldn’t ever be the same, would it? It was over now. No matter how many times Leah told him that she really did love him, he wouldn’t believe her anymore, would he? How could he couldn’t understand she’d left to protect him? To protect what they had? Tears welled up in her eyes. She was sad and angry that he couldn’t get the simple equation through his head. She still loved him—she knew she always would—but she did what she had to do, and even though she regretted it, she knew it couldn’t be undone. He was gone now. And she felt like she was wasting away.

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
The boards were off of Leah's window, good. Eric stood at the back of the house, hunched in the shadows. The sun was sinking down, and darkness was starting to settle over the city. After making sure no one was watching, he placed his converse clad foot onto the gutter, the bolts sticking out. He started to climb up the side of the house, his backpack left below in the shadows, and tried not to make noise.

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Leah had been laying there for hours, staring up at the ceiling. She’d kept murmuring ‘I love you, I love you, I love you,’ and ‘I’m so sorry’ to herself, as if Eric could hear her. Her mascara and eyeliner traced a clear path from her eyes all the way down her cheeks, signaling she’d been crying quite hard for a considerable amount of time. She heard a creak outside her window, but guessed it a squirrel, and a fresh wave of tears and heartbreak consumed her.

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Eric grunted slightly, and gripped Leah's window sill with his fingers. Afraid of falling, he made sure he had stable footing before he raised his fist to rap on the window, his fist fitting between the bars. He rapped again, harder and shifted, not daring to look below him. "Leah, open up now!"

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Leah jumped when she heard the noise, afraid for a split second it was her father, but she soon realized it was Eric. She scurried off the bed, hurriedly wiping away the tears and makeup from her face before unlocking the window and pulling it up so he could get in, standing back. “Why did you come back?” Leah asked timidly, her heart shattering even more when she saw his face.

Eric's face was expressionless as Leah came to the window. His heart throbbed once, before he shut it out, ignoring his feelings. Her face was tear streaked, and he just shook his head, clenching his jaw. Sure, she was all so sad. Right. She was the one who had taken advantage of him in the first place! He dug in his pocket and pulled out the train ticket, thrusting it through the window. "I bought this for you. You coming?"

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Leah looked at him, his face unusually taut. It hurt her to see him like this. He obviously didn’t believe how much pain she’d put herself in by removing herself from his life. Whatever he was thinking, it must be wrong. She did love him, but after this…it may not be worth the fight anymore. Not when Eric was looking at her like he was. She tentatively took the ticket and looked at it, feigning interest. Truth be told, she couldn’t think of anything else besides Eric—much less read something. Quietly, she muttered, “After what I did to you, Eric…why would you want me to come?” Leah kept her eyes on the ticket, not looking up.

"Take it. The train leaves at eleven o'clock tonight." His fingers brushed against hers as he removed his hand from the ticket, leaving it in her hands. His jaw was set tightly, eyes bloodshot and dry from the tears he had cried. Clenching his fists slightly, he gazed in her eyes before looking away. "Up to you if you want to come, but I dont see what you have here. Especially when you left me to come back."

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Leah finally looked up from the ticket, her eyes filled with sincere emotions. “You don’t get it, do you?” she whispered, her voice sore from all the crying she’d done, which made the words almost inaudible. Knowing she was being abnormally quiet, she continued anyways, “I left because I loved you. I was afraid that I’d be forced to leave you sometime…and I had a bad feeling about my parents regaining custody over me. My mother’s a lawyer, Eric. Mrs. Quinn didn’t stand a chance.” Leah’s voice cracked slightly. “You…” she shook her head, pinching the bridge of her nose to keep tears back. “I’ll think about coming.” Leah closed the window and turned her back on him, walking solemnly into the bathroom to wash her face from the tears.

Eric's eyes threatened to spill tears, but he held hem back, blinking a few times to clear his vision. Listening to her quiet voice made his heart throb painfully, and he shook his head. "That wouldn't matter Leah. Why do you think that that would make me love you any less!?" He had more to say, more to go on, but Leah had already turned from the window. "Pack light Leah. I'll wait for you at the park."
