Fire and Ice [ Shiori]
Dóiteáin
My large paws created burning indentations dashed with ash as I walked slowly along the path. The forest smelled of relaxing pine and the path I was taking wove round several tall evergreen trees that seemed to caress my thick, obsidian and grey coat as I passed underneath them. A few green needles clung to my glossy top coat, as well as the fur atop my toes. I lift my nose to the air as an unfamiliar scent wafted into my nostrils. I lift my black nose and smell the air again, trying to place the odd and intoxicating scent that lifted my heartrate. I remembered meeting the scent once before in my life, but only once. It brought me to a jumpy, scrauny female that quickly ran from my presence. I didn't follow her, but thoughts of her anxiety plagued my mind for days afterward. I look around me for several seconds before tentatively taking a few steps forward on the trail. All of my senses were on high alert to meet the wolf that I knew would show itself sooner or later.

Re: Fire and Ice [ Shiori]
Maerdyr sniffed around the ground, searching for wherever the rabbit hole had gotten off to. She’d heard and smelled another wolf nearby, and she’d been frantically trying to locate it before the wolf showed up. Hearing the footfalls of the wolf, ostensibly male, her head shot up. The ground of iced circles around her paws froze even more before she stared for a moment, then darted off in the opposite direction, speed nearly incomprehensible. Mae’s nose once more picked up the scent of the rabbit—thankfully for her—but she still smelled the he-wolf behind her somewhere, and, once she discovered the rabbit hole, she dug frantically into it, making it large enough for her to crawl in, and she stowed herself away in one of the farthest chambers, completely freezing the rabbit family that lived in there, while she snacked on the male rabbit that she’d been tracking in the first place. Her ice-blue-tinted ears flicked back and forth, ready to attack if the male wolf got anywhere that was too close for her liking.

[ A little difficult but not too bad ]
The crackling of bush twigs seemed to turn my head automatically. A dash of frost white and ice blue danced away from me. With nothing better to do, I jump over the poison ivy bush and lope after the small fae. Ears laid tenderly back and muscles gliding over the surface of the Earth quietly. My massive body moving quicker than seemed possible. I slowed when I couldn't hear her anymore. Stopping and crouching behind a fallen, grey tree and lifting my ears I see her digging in a rabbit's hole before clambering frantically inside. I snort softly when my breathing was no longer as labored and leap gracefuly out of hiding. Curiousity getting the better of me, I peer inside the hole. The scent of death and a sudden chill made me bounce back. Shaking my coat, it glowed a slight red/orange as I warmed myself up.

Re: Fire and Ice [ Shiori]
Maerdyr knew that the brute was somewhere outside her safety zone, and she finished most of the rabbit before growling loudly when he looked down at her, through the entrance of the now-frozen hole, but he bounced back suddenly, just as an uncomfortable heat seared against her frozen fur. She pinned her ears against her head and was beginning to wonder why the heck she’d dug herself into a hole with no other place to get to. Mae looked around, wishing rabbit holes were like some other critter burrows, where there were more than one dens inside so she could easily navigate her way out of the situation. Mae growled again, shaking slightly. Mae didn’t like brutes. In fact, she’d killed more of them than she had killed her own food.

Re: Fire and Ice [ Shiori]
I didn't snarl back, but rather layed down and rested my head against the ground that was warmed by my elemental heat. That alone was a sign that I wasn't a threat to her. I added a small bark ,that sounded more like an ummph and made my chops bounce away from my teeth and then settle back down. I didn't know why the she-wolf was hiding from me, but I didn't like that she was so scared of me when she didn't even know me. She was small. Much smaller than I was, and she had an elegant yet sharp way to her that interested me. I liked that she wasn't cowardly or offensive, but rather defensive.

Re: Fire and Ice [ Shiori]
Mae stared at him when he sat down, the top of his head—stopping at the base of his ears—just visible to her. His posture clearly spoke that he wasn’t trying to be threatening to her, but Maerdyr knew better than to trust brutes. She kept her ears pinned to the top of her head, and as she growled again, the frost of her breath wafted up towards him. He’d backed up the first time he’d been witnessed to her elemental powers, and hopefully if she could get him to back up even further, Mae would be able to easily slip past him without having to engage in a fight. Though he didn’t seem like he wanted anything with her, Mae’s bad experiences kept her from letting her guard down.

Re: Fire and Ice [ Shiori]
Her breath was uncomfortably cold, and I wiggled slightly. Standing up and then sitting down again. My fur bristled to keep me warmer, and I snort. "Would you stop that?" I say, my voice crackling slightly like the embers of a campfire. I wasn't trying to be rude, but rather sarcastic and light-hearted. If I could just get her to see that I wanted a friend and not to hurt her, then maybe she'd wander out and take risk enough to get to know me. At least a little, anyway.

Re: Fire and Ice [ Shiori]
[ no problem ]
Mae kept her ears pinned, lurching forward slightly when he moved back. She had just reached the mouth of the rabbit hole when he had come back and sat down where he had been originally, and she scurried back down into the rabbit hole. “What do you want?” Maerdyr growled at him, keeping her ears pinned. “Would you move over? It’s cramped in here!” Mae barked angrily, her back paws digging in the dirt to give her more room to navigate. Not that she wanted to come up beside him, however, she just wanted to be out of the rabbit hole that smelled of already decaying flesh.

"Will you run?" I counter her question and perk my ears forward at the sound of her digging claws. The sound was odd, and seemed to echo out of the small chamber. "I won't hurt you, if that's what you are thinking, I just want some company" I say and step back a few inches. Not enough for her to run away, but enough for her to begin to come outside.

Re: Fire and Ice [ Shiori]
[ lol nice ]
Mae frowned and shook her head, “I’m not promising anything,” she snapped. Maerdyr growled and unpinned her ears, crouching forward, quite timorous. Mae shook herself, coming out to the entrance of the tunnel, being able to feel the heat coming from him. She squinted and growled again, “Would you move back!” She pinned her ears, frowning deeply and scooting back once more.

Re: Fire and Ice [ Shiori]
"Fine" I snort and move back enough for her to come out and sit back down. "I'm Dóiteáin, by the way" I say and curl my tail neatly around my back leg and wait for her to come out of the cramped den.

Re: Fire and Ice [ Shiori]
[ aww, okay. Bye. ]
Mae stared at him angrily, her guts telling her not to move. Silently, she pinned her ears. “Fine. Thanks.” She said begrudgingly. Maerdyr flicked her tail and came out, staying at the mouth of the rabbit’s hole, however. She could feel the heat singing at her fur. Mae flicked her tail and sat down, keeping her back rigid and straight. She unpinned her ears, her claws digging into the ground. “Can I help you?” She said indignantly.

Re: Fire and Ice [ Shiori]
I lay my ears down and back up more for her. "What did I do?" I say and snort. Standing up and stepping back enough for to run off if she wanted to.

Re: Fire and Ice [ Shiori]
Mae stared at him for a moment before shaking her head. “Nothing. You’re just…hot.” Realizing what she said, Mae growled slightly, extremely embarrassed. “I meant…as in, elementally hot. Not… appearance wise. Not that you aren’t, but…Oh, forget it!” Mae dropped her gaze to her feet.

Re: Fire and Ice [ Shiori]
Taken aback by her comment, I pin my ears in confusion and cock my head. When she continues in her explanation I chuckle. "That's ok, I see your element is ice. The first elemental wolf I've seen aside from myself" I say and sit down on a patch of moss. It was comfortable until it burned to ash. Then it was like sitting on a heating pad.

Re: Fire and Ice [ Shiori]
Maerdyr looked up at him and frowned momentarily. “Yeah…” she said. “Ice is better, I think, but taking a bath is awful. When the water freezes around you almost as soon as you touch it? Doesn’t work out very well.” Mae rolled her eyes, watching as the moss-pillow burned into nothing. “Must suck to be an elemental fire wolf. Looks like you burn everything you touch. But I guess they’re downsides to every elemental wolf. I’ve seen quite a few in my day, actually.” Mae was talking about her sisters and brothers, not that he’d know, of course. She flicked her ear, her tail swishing back and forth neutrally.

Re: Fire and Ice [ Shiori]
I nod calmly "Well if I try hard enough I can keep from burning the things I touch" I say and listen as she talks about our kind. "Really? I wouldn't know... My mother left when I was a pup, she was the elemental wolf in my situation, and I didn't have any siblings" I ramble, and then shrug. "I didn't mind though, usually having other wolves around can be a hastle..."

Re: Fire and Ice [ Shiori]
Mae nodded, understanding to a certain degree, but she didn’t feel obliged to tell her life story. Hers, after all, wasn’t one somebody went around flaunting to the rest of the world. Sighing, Mae shrugged the best that a wolf could. “I don’t mind faes. Brutes, not so much. Eh… personal experiences, I guess you could say,” Mae stated simply.

Re: Fire and Ice [ Shiori]
I nod gently and let out a heavy breath. "Where are you headed?" I say, making an attempt at small talk and accidently coming off as nosy. "Wait, you don't have to answer that, sorry..." I add to the end and lower my head in embarressment.

Re: Fire and Ice [ Shiori]
Mae shook her head, “No, no, it’s nowhere that I can’t share with you,” Mae said, flicking her ears once more. She still didn’t trust this brute—she would attack him at any given moment, if worse came to worse—but it wasn’t like she was going on some top-secret mission. “To be honest, I wasn’t going anywhere. Except from away from you, at first. Like I said: don’t like brutes. Are you headed anywhere in particular?”
