Re: A Millennia of Memories [ Spritzie-kun ]
Grace wondered how anybody could ever be able to live with themselves if their house smelled this badly. Grace would definitely be here to help him clean up for a while—of that she was sure. Nevertheless, it didn’t bother her in the least. It would give her time to take her mind off of things, and to think about what would happen to her and Colton in the future. It wasn’t an immediate concern of hers, no. But it would need heavy consideration in the near future. Regardless, Grace would probably end up telling Colton she’d find a place of her own to live so he didn’t have to sleep on the couch and could have his own bedroom to himself.
Getting a job and a house would be difficult until she was fully reformed to the point where everyone could see and hear her. She didn’t understand how that would work at the moment, but she did know that it would happen. Her choker would disappear in time, showing she’d fully regained humanity and could now, in the blunt expression, die and go to heaven. She hoped, at least, that she’d go to heaven. And that she’d be reconnected with Ty. No, no. Not Ty. She was taking her mind off of Ty at the moment.
She started when she felt Colton wrap his hand around her wrist just as she’d been about to pick up a broken beer bottle. Dragging her gaze from the bottle up to Colton’s face, she studied him for a moment before he opened his mouth and spoke. Sighing thickly, Grace scrutinized him, not bothering to wriggle her wrist free from his grip. Though the gesture was, in a sense, a harsh one, she didn’t mind.
“Perhaps not,” Grace stated calmly, “I don’t ‘have to’ do anything for you—or with you. Even so, I do have free will, and I would like to make myself useful and help you.” Grace smiled gently. “So, I’d appreciate it if you let go of my wrist and tell me where the other trash bags are. We’re going to need more than just that one.” Grace pointed to the one he’d gotten with her free hand, silently pointing out with her eyes and sentence that it was almost completely full.

Within a second, Grace had regestered his grip around her wrist and tried to pull free, Colton's grasp loostening but not dropping fully. She said she wanted to help, but he didn't really feel that was nececarry. No, it definatly wasn't. There really wasn't a reason she should be here in the first place. Maybe it had been a mistake to bring her here at all. But no, no. That couldn't be it. It was simple, what she had said, thus Colton let her wrist drop from his grip, his gaze glancing down to the bulging trash bag at his feet. Help would be alright, he supposed. Even if her staying was only temporary. Giving a halfhearted sigh, he shrugged and gave a tiny nod of his head; though he was done speaking for a while.
Colton's stomach twisted slightly, but he didn't know what it was from. Looking up at Grace standing there, he turned away from her and began to make his way towards the kitchen without a sound, avoiding the remains of trash littering the pathway to the door. Once he reached the small room, Colton stepped out of sight; appearing to be getting another trash bag. As soon as he was sure Grace couldn't see him however, he leaned back against the dirty counter and ran his fingers through his now clean hair.
For some odd reason, his heart was pounding wildly in his chest, and his ears felt hot. Letting his head drop into his hands, he gave a nearly inautable sigh and shook his head. His eyes closed then, an automatic gesture that he was tired and confused; something that he hated. It only happened rarely, but now that he felt this way he knew there was a reason to it. Seconds ticked by, and suddenly he remembered he was supposed to be getting a plastic garbage bag for Grace. Glancing to the doorway, he prayed she hadn't seen his sign of weakness, but didn't see her.
Kneeling down near a cubbord, he opened it and dug around inside. Only one or two was left, and he hoped they would be enough to get the apartment at least into a managable shape; even that would seem like a wonder.

Re: A Millennia of Memories [ Spritzie-kun ]
Grace stared at him a moment before he turned and left the room. He seemed to be deep in thought, and it worried her. Had she said something wrong? Did she do the wrong thing by continuing to help? She hadn’t wanted to be a nuisance. No, only to be helpful and make sure his house was taken care of like every other house. She wanted to make life easier for him, and she could use the distraction, as stated earlier. Running a hand through her voluminous, wavy brown hair, Grace stood up straighter and stared at the area he had just disappeared. She thought she saw him look back out, but she’d already gone back to picking up.
She cut her finger on one of the broken beer bottles out of sheer recklessness, but only because she was too busy thinking of other things. The pizza boxes no longer fit in the current bag, so she had gone to stacking them on top of each other on the coffee table near the couch. She had reached under the couch to grab a beer bottle and had come up with a slice of half-eaten cheese pizza covered in mold, and, much to her surprise and horror, a rat nibbling on one end of it.
Grace let out an involuntary scream and backed up, nearly tripping over the bag of trash. Sighing, Grace was second-guessing herself to help now. She hated rats. Hated, hated, hated, hated rats. Grace grimaced and picked up the pizza slice between two fingers and dropped it in the bag after the rat had run off. She stared into the bag for a moment before doing an internal face-palm. When Colton came back out with the trash bags, she smiled weakly and tied off the first one, wiping some of the already-drying blood from her finger onto a used napkin.

"Damn it Grace,"
Colton massaged his ear drums with an index finger wincing. His ears were still ringing, and he wondered if he would be able to hear properly for a week.
"Why did you have to scream, I forgot how loud girls could be!"
Just to show that he was teasing her, Colton added a lopsided grin before his eyes landed on her finger, which was stained with a drop of blood. What did she do? A thump from the other side of the wall made the teenager roll his eyes. Of course, that noise would have woke the neighbors up. These walls were paper thin, not always great to have loud noises unless you wanted to get reported to the cops. The older people seemed to be very touchy about that. Clearing his throat, he glanced around the room before complimenting Grace with an appreciative smile.
"Thank you, I really do appreciate it." Pausing for effect, he winked once before bending down to grab a bag of potato chips that had gone stale. Dropping them into the plastic garbage bag, he threw one over to Grace and continued his speel.
"Really, its usually not this bad. Only when somebody throws a surprise party without telling me, eh?"
Shrugging slightly, he suddenly strode to the closet and opened the door, an old vacum sitting in the midst of clothes wrapped in plastic. Who would have known Colton would own a suit? Hauling out the old thing, he looked at it with a dilapidated expression.
"I bet if I turn it on, its going to explode."

Re: A Millennia of Memories [ Spritzie-kun ]
Grace stared at him as he cursed, but a smile was slowly creeping across her face. It was amusing to her the sensitivity of his ears. Grace knew he probably wouldn’t have screamed if he’d seen the rat, but Grace knew from personal experience girls didn’t bode well with furry, four-legged critters with tails. Not a good mix at any time. Especially when the girls are younger. Their screams were even more high-pitched. Grace wiped her hands on her jeans and smiled. “Yeah, sorry…” Grace laughed, mirth filling her eyes.
She watched as he went to search some more, and Grace grimaced as she wiped the excess blood off of her finger, suddenly noticing how much it stung. She probably got some extra beer in it. It really bugged her, but she forgot about it easily enough and went back to stuffing the extra junk into the trash bags. She watched him go over to the closet and pick out a vacuum cleaner. When he made the comment, Grace laughed.
“You never know until you try, eh?”

Who knew how old this vacuum cleaner was... Colton was warry to turn it on, and seriously wondered if he would get electrocuted for trying. Shrugging once, he lugged it all the way out of the closet, as most of the trash on the floor and tables had been picked up, thanks to Grace. Maybe there was hope getting it clean after all, though the apartment would never be a luxury to live in. The carpet was slightly stained, couch uncomfortable and old, and walls paper thin. Once he found a steady job, he would definatly try to find somewhere else to stay. Puling the plug over to the outlet, he slowly plugged it in, freezing up and expecting to feel the static shock of electricity jolting through his body. The vacuum spluttered to life, choking for a few moments before starting to roar with energy. The hose was lying limply on the ground, before a few scraps of paper were sucked up the tube, the bag jumping slightly as the trash made its way into its system. "Hey, it works." Though stating the obvious, Colton moved back from the outlet and back to the machine, which quite frankly, scared him.
Taking the handle, he began to push the spluttering vacuum across the carpet. This apartment needed more than just a minor cleaning however... but this was the best they could do.
(I'm sorry it took so long, and also how short it is.)

Re: A Millennia of Memories [ Spritzie-kun ]
Grace stared at him a moment as he pulled the vacuum cleaner out of the closet. Grace stepped back a bit and stared as he turned it on. There was a moment where it didn’t do anything, but a few seconds later it started coughing and sputtering like there was something stuck in it. To the pleasure of both of them (and she was certain to both of their surprise) and chuckled as he said it was working. “No, really?” Grace jested and hopped onto the couch, pulling her feet up so he could vacuum. Having second thoughts, Grace looked at him, “Hey, where do you want me to put the trash bags?” Grace lugged the trash bags over to her, tying them up and bringing them onto the couch with her so that Colton could vacuum without sucking up the trash bags. After all, a hole in one of these things would be the last thing she wanted. It’d taken long enough for them to pick it all up, and she didn’t fancy finding another rat.

Though it had turned on, that didn't mean the vaccum was nececarily safe to run, did it? Choking and coughing, the thing finally evened out its haggered breathing and was able to calm itself, the teenager cautiously approaching the item. A few minutes later, it was sucking all of the crumbs and bits of paper off of the floor. He supposed it worked well enough, flashing a smile at Grace when she flopped down onto the couch and pulled her feet up so he could get all of the junk off of the old carpet.
Yelling over the noise of the machine, Colton managed to convey he would take them out to the dumpster with a series of nods towards the door, probably making himself look like a complete idiot but at the moment, he didn't really care.
Once the floor of the living room was cleaned, he unplugged the machine and wiped his forehead.
"And we're all still alive, that's a good sign."

Re: A Millennia of Memories [ Spritzie-kun ]
Grace watched him move the machine around, trying her best to ignore the grating noises it made whenever it ran over something it hadn’t originally been made to pick up. As he nodded towards the door, Grace tilted her head slightly, holding back a series of giggles. When she finally got it, she nodded back, and leaned against the iron slab of a couch, staring up at the ceiling and allowing herself to drift off into thought. It’d been almost a day now, that she’d been in this living form. And the more Grace thought about it, the more doubt crept into her mind. Did Colton really believe it was her—Grace in the flesh? That she’d been made whole again by him… or whatever had happened to bring her out of that cursed mirror? Did he believe that she was there… did he think he was insane? Without noticing it, a deep frown formed on Grace’s face as she continued to stare, unblinking, up at the ceiling (where she vaguely noticed chips of paint were falling off).

Unbelievable, that's what it was.
Even now as the young man cast his eyes to her figure, the previous events seemed like a dream gone wrong, despite himself. It was nearly impossible to believe that whatever had happened had really taken place, along with the ever sinking feeling that it may just have been a vision... or whatever he wanted to call it. A twinge of jealousy had definatly sparked inside of him as Grace spoke of her lover, but why it was there he had no clue.
Sinking down onto the couch beside Grace, he cocked his head to the side and squinted ever so slighty. Taking the moment to look at her while she hopefully wouldn't notice, his jaw tightened insignificantly and he looked down to his lap. Awkward silences were something he was used to, but right now it seemed a bit more intense than it usually was.
"You probably are disapointed, no?"

Re: A Millennia of Memories [ Spritzie-kun ]
Grace was vaguely aware of his body next to hers, his gaze plastered to hers. It was discomforting to know he was looking at her so intently. Grace was trying her best to hold back tears. She wanted Colton to believe it was her—more than anything, in fact. If there was nothing Colton believed elsewise, all she wanted was for him to believe it was actually her. When he spoke up, Grace blinked a few times, her eyes glazed over with unshed tears as she turned her head to face him. Her eyes scanned the skater-boy over once, twice, and then she parted her lips slightly to speak to him.
“Disappointed? Of course not…” Grace paused. “I’m just… I’m worried. I’m afraid you don’t believe I’m here… I want you to, but there’s nothing I can do that would ever prove to you I’m alive.” The spare thought ran through her mind, unless I kissed you, but I won’t. I don’t want you to reject me. “I…I’ve waited so long to have a friend…a companion…somebody who could see me and listen to me and know that I share the same pain every living person has…” Grace cleared her throat, which was tightening up quickly as she tried not to let the tears spill over. “I just want somebody to believe I’m here, and I’m not sure you do.” Grace hazarded a sideways glance at Colton before sighing thickly.
Murmuring quietly under her breath, Grace commented, “You don’t think I’m here. Would it make any difference if I left?” Pushing herself off of the couch, Grace kept her eyes trained in front of her, on the ground that was remarkably cleaner than it had been earlier that morning. Gritting her teeth and clenching her hands by her side, Grace said, “I’m sorry I caused you so much trouble.” Grace strode from her spot beside him, managing to restrain her tears, before unlocking the front door and walking out—making sure she didn’t start running until the door was closed behind her. As soon as the door clicked into place, Grace ran.
She ran longer and faster than she had in so very long… She ran across streets haphazardly (almost getting hit by a Minnie Cooper) and towards any body of water she could find. As soon as she found a small river, Grace ran to its edge and curled into a ball, finally allowing the tears to cascade down her cheeks. She didn’t bother being quiet; she knew that nobody but Colton could see or hear her. So what difference did it make? Ignoring the fact that the scenery around her was lovely, Grace let herself cry and wallow in the thoughts that Colton didn’t think she was real… Thought that she was simply an illusion. So long left in seclusion with no way out, and when she finally did get out, the only person that could interact with her began to doubt?
I can only die one more time… Grace thought to herself quietly. Then I’m either stuck in the netherworld forever, in heaven, or remain a wandering soul here on earth until the ends of days… My new body is so young, yet my mind is so old… Should I listen to my heart and leave Colton behind for good? If he doesn’t believe me, nobody else will or even can. I wish somebody would just love me like Ty did! Grace let a fresh wave of tears hit her, as she stayed hunched over by the waterfront.
