Eric jumped as his phone went off, noisily beeping its way louder and louder. Note to self, never set ringer on high... Again. Rolling his eyes, he grabbed the phone in his hand, pulling it towards him and glancing at the screen.

New Message

It flashed, and Eric pressed the words. The screen changed, and he saw who it was from, reading the short text quickly. Though not talking to her face to face, the feeling of dread in his gut seemed to melt away as he started pressing down the small letter keys.

Hey!
Just got done showering... I think we both needed it, eh?

Never Alone. (Shiori) - Page 3 Empty Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)

Post by Guest Wed Oct 26, 2011 4:18 pm

Leah had just dozed (she was warm and dry now, so she found it hard to keep her eyes open), when her vibrating phone went off on her stomach, jerking her awake and looked around confused. When the phone hit the floor, she sighed and pushed back her wavy hair and picked up her phone and read the text. Just thinking about talking to the mysterious and intruiging Eric made her happy, despite the fact that her parents had still forgotten about her and were doting on the other 4 children. Grimacing for a moment, Leah read the text and then replied:

Yeah, me too. I feel sooo much better now. Though my family are being assholes.

Leah felt compelled to add the last part, since she still felt so strongly that her parents had forgotten about her. She felt like she could get up on the roof and scream it to the whole world. They always ignored her! It made her feel like she was simply nonexistant.

Eric turned down the volume on his phone, and waited it for it to go off again, while turning onto his back and throwing his hands up behind his head, closing his eyes. The phone vibrated, and Eric grabbed it, flipping it open and laughing as he read the text. Though it wasn't funny, her choice of words made him laugh. Pressing the keys down, he started on a new text.

Maybe so, but you're lucky to have a family. I'm not saying its not hard, but you know you are loved by them...

Leah began to run a brush through her hair until the phone went off again, yet again falling to the floor. She frowned and looked pressed the button to open the text with her toe, opening the message and reading it over the bridge of her nose, her brush still running through her hair and forcing it to be straighter. Feeling too lazy to pick it up, she sat upright on her beanbag couch and began to type with her toes, ignoring the very bad spelling mistakes she was making:

Noit spo shuree. ji'mk invisnble tooo thebm.

She also didn't bother to turn on auto correct, and hit send with her toe before going back to brushing her hair, trying to tame the wild waves that were now insiting on poofing out in every angle.

Almost falling asleep, the constant vibrating woke Eric out of his trance, and he again opened his phone. Frowning at the spelling errors, he began to type.

No offence, but you dont know how bad it is to have a family that doesent, I repeat, doesent care about you.

Those words had probably given away some of his backround, but he didn't care anymore. Now, he was on a mission to purswade her that she was the lucky one after all.

Leah frowned angrily after she finished brushing her hair and pulling her phone up onto her lap as it vibrated again. She'd just started a game of fruit ninja when she was forced to exit out and read the text. She was vexed. He didn't understand her family life. Given, she didn't understand his either, but she was determined to find out, really. Even if it was a bit personal. After all, wasn't it he who said you can't learn about a person without asking them questions?

I doubt your family doesn't care about you. Why wouldn't they? I think you're a nice person!

Leah sighed exasperatedly and laid back down on the beanbag couch, her phone clenched in her palm.

Eric wasn't mad after reading the text, but he decided that if she couldn't get what he was feeling, it was because she didn't know what it was. Placing his fingers on the keys, he leaned his head back against the wall and closed his eyes, thinking about what to say, and not wanting to give too much away about his past and history. Not yet, anyway, he didn't really know her that well.

Lets just say that if you're family disliked you, you would be able to tell... Very well.

Leah sighed and almost didn't reply to the text when it came. She never wanted to get into this mini-arguement with him. She had only meant to say hi, sup, talk a bit about themselves and then set up a date to see each other next. Apparently, her plans had gone totally downhill. And really, she was the only one to blame. It was her who had brought up the 'my family are assholes' in the first place. She didn't really have to say that, but she had felt compelled to, anyways. Doing a facepalm before replying, she began fighting with herself mentally.

I guess, but my parents completely forget I'm here. Ever. I mean, they never say hello, how are you, how's your day, i love you, nothing! I'm nonexistant in this world and it was all because they loved Micah more than they loved me!

Leah pressed the send button a bit too hard and nearly flipped her phone out of her hand, tears welling in her eyes. Her family did love Micah more than her, she knew that for a fact. And now that Micah was gone, she had no purpose in life. None at all, and she doubted she ever would again.

After reading the text, Eric fell back onto his bed and closed his eyes tightly. He didnt want to get into a fight with her, and thus decided to let it go.

Sorry.. I'm not in you're place. I dont know what it feels like for you. I'm sorry.

[ lol it's okay; i gtg after this anyways ]

Leah curled up on the beanbag chair and breathed in its scent. It still smelled of Micah and the perfume she used to wear whenever he was around. He always said he'd loved that perfume so much. When she got the text message, she already had tears in her eyes that were trickling silently down her face. She sniffed a bit, finding herself rather emotional, and typed back with weak fingers, not wanting to type too much, afraid her tears would short out her iPhone.

sorry, too...

With that, Leah curled up into a ball, letting her iPhone drop on the floor and cried into her arms. She was thankful, though, that this time she didn't have makeup on to smear.

But I understand... I mean, having 'asshole' parents... We have our similarities.

Leaning back and closing his eyes, Eric flipped the phone shut and rested his head back against the wall. The pillows were propped up behind his back, and he could have fallen asleep, but he didn't want to miss a reply from Leah. Perhaps his wording had been a bit wrong, about the similarities thing, but it was sent and couldn't be retrieved. His damp black hair fell into his eyes, but he didn't care, not even swiping it away. A sudden noise, a creaking of a door from downstairs made him jolt upright in the bed, his eyes hard and mean. Pushing himself up, his phone clattered to the floor, and he made sure his door was locked, even wedging a large chair under the handle. His stomach growled in hunger, and he inwardly kicked himself for not getting food when he had the chance. Unless he snuck out of his window and paid for a meal at a resturant, he probably wouldn't be able to get foor untill the next morning... Possibly later.

Never Alone. (Shiori) - Page 3 Empty Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)

It took ten minutes for Leah to get herself together, and she was now lying on her bed crying into her pillow, staring out angrily at the tomato-orange beanbag couch that smelled so much like Micah and her rather intoxicating perfume. She remembered the many times Micah and her had lain on that couch together, her head on his chest, his lips pressed gently on her forehead as the light from the moon streamed in from the window that was just to the right of the couch. Leah stared out the window as night began to fall, the stars showing their brilliance. She nearly forgot to text Eric, but once she remembered, she said:

I guess. This may be a bit personal, but have you ever lost somebody you loved very dearly? Are we the same in that sense? Is that how you 'know' how it feels to have asshole parents?

Leah hesitated a moment before pressing 'send' and laying back on her bed, her head turned and neck straining very slightly to get a good view at the blanket of stars that were tentatively spreading across the sky's shade of midnight blue.

Erics ear was pressed against the door, listening for the slightest of sounds. A tv being turned on, the fridge being opened. The creak of the living room armchair. The buzzing of his phone made him jump, whipping around, and spotting it lying dejectedly on the floor. Taking one last glance at the door, he strode forward and swiped it off of the ground, waking it up with a deliberate jab of a button, and reading the text. Her words made him scoff, letting out an angered grunt. His fingers worked quickly over the keys, mispelling a few words, and he quickly fixed them.

No. Because there was no reason for me to 'love' any one of them. I cant 'love' anyone. Because even if I did, they wouldn't love me in return. Again, same as you, not to be personal, but have you been driven to the point of desperation, where you actually slit your own wrists?

Post by Guest Fri Oct 28, 2011 3:52 pm

Leah waited a few minutes after feeling her phone buzz while it lay on her stomach, entranced by the stars. She wondered if Micah was looking down on her from Heaven somewhere, hearing her desperate thoughts and wantings. She needed him back. Sure, there was a quite strange attraction to Eric that she'd found only today, but he would never ever be able to replace Micah. A single tear rolled down her cheek as she turned and answered the text in a rather heated response to his rather heated answer.

I've cut myself once, but I hated myself for it forever. In retaliation, have you ever loved somebody so much and dated them for a year only for them to die and have your parents completely forget about you because they loved your significant other more than you, their CHILD!? Do you still have something you made with them that you can't let go of and is a constant reminder of how you'll never see them again!?

Leah wanted to cry. She wanted to lay there and just cry until she died, but she was more angry than she was sad now. She missed Micah, and Eric had no idea. He was clueless.

Reading the rather heated reply, Eric hated himself and was tempted to throw his phone across the room, but held himself back.

No. I dont know. And I dont know really what you're going through, and I wish I could understand! And I'm so sorry. At least your parents dont beat you.
He hadn't gone into details, and left it that way. If she wanted to know more, she would ask, and he was guessing that she would.

Leah clenched her fists and screamed into her pillow instead of banging her head against the side of her bed. She kept her face burried in the pillow until she could no longer breathe, then lifted her head and checked her phone. It was blinking a dull grey color, and made a quick chirp, and continued blinking. Leah grabbed her phone and opened the text, replying with soft intentions.

...Why don't you run away from home, then? And...why would they beat their child in the first place?

Leah felt awful about snapping at him now, and she kept hitting her head against the wall until her father screamed up the stairs for her to shut up, which only made her kick the wall as hard as she could, hearing her father's angry steps coming up the stairs, trying the doorknob.
"Leah, you keep yourself quiet up here, would you!? Nobody wants to hear you beating yourself! If you're going to, do it quietly!"
Leah teared up slightly as she heard her father's steps reatreating down the stairs once more.

Eric flipped open the phone, standing near the door. He had been about to reply, when he heard someone walking up the stairs, the boards under the persons feet creaking as they supported his weight. Eric recoiled from the door, making sure it was locked, and watching the handle turn, hearing a muffled stream of cursing as the figure found it was locked. A hard fist on the door made Eric jump, retreating and watching the door with hard eyes.
"Open up! I just want to talk to you!"
A hard, masculine voice was slightly muffled, but Eric knew it well. he didn't make a move forward. He stayed right where he was, before his fingers found the keys on his phone.

I cant run away. He finds me. It gets worse.

Leah frowned, concerned, at his reply. She wondered just what his father did to him, or his mother, or whoever it was. Obviously it was violent enough to make him cut himself. She was glad, however, that he hadn't committed suicide (at least, not yet). Leah's fingers flew over the keys, trying to reply to him as quickly as she could, seeing as his reply had gotten shorter. And they silently screamed "danger." Leah hit the send button almost before she'd finished typing, but her suggestion was meant for good intention, not anything weird.

Would he find you if I let you stay at my house? I have a place you could stay.

I never put other people in danger. NEVER.

Erics reply was quick, obviously stating that something was going on, that he couldn't make long posts. The voice continued to talk outside of the door, but Eric could easilly detect the sound of forced patience and fake sincerity.
"LEAVE!" He screamed, pounding his fist onto the door. He heard his stepfather recoil, then heard him hiss out a long sigh that made Eric shudder. Stepping back, he backed away from the door, sitting down onto his bed. His head fell into his hands and his breathing quickened. If his stepfather got in here-

Leah's heart skipped a beat for a second. Was whoever was hurting him that violent?

I'm more capable than you think, Eric. Please come over, you'll be safe for a little while before you can get somewhere safer!

Leah knew for certain now that something bad was going on. Eric's responses were getting shorter and seemed, to her, more desperate. She frowned and bobbed her foot up and down nervously, anxiously awaiting his reply. She was scared for him now. She felt extremely guilty about snapping at him about Micah (whom he probably still hadn't guessed was the lover she'd been talking about earlier), and she felt now that the only way she could repay him was give him a safehaven for a while.

Eric felt his phone buzz, but he didn't pick it up untill he heard the heavy footsteps retreating down the hall, into the bedroom. He glanced down at the phone, shaking his head as he read the text.

No. I cant. I wont. Thanks for the offer.

Watching with hard eyes, he leaned back on his bed and sat in total darkness, only the light of the moon cascading into the room, coating his body with a silver light.

Leah, being the stubborn and inistant person she was, decided she'd continue to badger him until he said yes. She wasn't going to let another person--regardless of who it was--going to get beaten by their parents! The prospect made her want to hit someting really hard. She didn't, though, for fear of her dad snapping at her again and giving her another heart-wrenching statement as he had last time. She picked up her cell and texted back, adding a smiley face for emphasis this time.

Please, Eric! If not, just come and visit! Like right now. It sounds like you need to get out of there. :( Please?

Leah hoped he'd say yes, and if he did, she considered putting on an actual shirt instead of the cami she was wearing now, and the shorts that barely passed halfway down her thighs. Groaning, Leah decided she'd just await his reply.

Eric's face tightened, setting his jaw as he quickly read through the text. His inbox was filling up, and he made a mental note to clear it after he sent this text. Placing his fingers over the keys, he thought about how to politley turn her down, but figured that probably wouldn't work.. She would keep pestering him to come over, sometime, and he knew he would probably end up cracking and giving in.

Not tonight Leah. It's already past seven. Maybe tomarrow. I'll be fine.

I hope. He thought, then hit the send button.

Leah, however, was not satisfied with his answer, continued to pester him. She wasn't going to give in that easily. He was a human being and didn't deserve what his family was doing to him. Apparently his folks didn't even care that he'd slit his own wrists! Seething with anger, Leah continued to type at him, her teeth clenched, her answer soft, though, completely the opposite of her emotions.

Oh, come on, Eric. I'm lonely, anyways! It's not like I'm doing anything... =\

Shaking his head, Eric fell back onto his pillows, setting down the open phone on his stomach. Throwing his hands back behind his head, he pondered his desision, then rolled his eyes after several minutes of thinking. What was the hurt? He could drop in, then quickly leave as soon as he said hello.

Fine. But I dont know where you live in the first place.
