Leah smiled and stepped inside, waiting just inside the building for Eric. She glanced at the interior designs, and it reminded her very much of an oldern-styled club. Checkered floors, walls that were half blue on the bottom, and half pink on the top. The old-fashioned clock stood off to one wall, and she turned her gaze to the counter, where it seemed many tubs of icecream were lined up behind a wall of glass. Intruiged, Leah subconsciencely smelled the inside, which smelled of cinnamon and various flavors of icecream. Leah then turned to Eric and smiled, "Do you come here often, or do you just know her from previous visits?" Leah asked, intruiged.

[ sorry if my description of the icecream parlor isn't what you planned. xD i got carried away with it and don't feel like erasing it ]

Eric grinned as he shut the door behind him, the woman giving him an obvious, daunting look. "Eric, who is your friend here?" She asked purposfully, and a slight pink flush made its way to his cheeks. "This is Leah. A friend." He quickly answered, and the woman rolled her eyes. "Mhmm. Lovley name hunny." Said the black woman, before turning and scribbling something down on a pad of paper. "He comes here often dear. Does his homework over ice cream, my boy." Giving Eric a plaintive smile, he rolled his eyes.

Leah couldn't help but think it funny of the older woman's skepticism [sp] of Eric's statement that Leah was only a friend. She didn't mind her teasing him, though. It was good to have somebody for him that would at least josh around with him. Leah nodded, "Eh, that sounds nice." Leah grimaced suddenly and commented under her breath, "I wonder what homework's really like. I'm homeschooled. Though my parents often forget to teach me some days." Leah sighed heavily. She smiled at the woman's compliment and said, "Thanks," a cheery smile plastered to her face.

Mrs. Quinn reached forward to ruffle Eric's black hair, but he quickly stepped backwards, shooting her a glance that plainly stated that now was really not the time to embarrass him. She gave him a quick, friendly smile, before looking at Leah and also, smiling broadly at her. "It's not fun." Eric mumbled to Leah, about homework, before the woman cleared her throat. "So what can I get for you two?"

Leah surpressed a lighthearted laugh when the woman tried to ruffle Eric's hair. She, personally, thought it was rather cute. Maybe this... Mrs. Quinn ... was like a mother to Eric? Seeing as she seemed to know him very well. But the thought that Eric had moved away from Mrs. Quinn seemed unnatural, and she'd seen the look on his face. Was he trying to impress her or something by being all mature? The thought made her laugh on the inside, a rosy smile on her lips. She stepped closer to Mrs. Quinn and the displays of icecream, staring into them. To be completely honest, icecream wasn't exactly the way she thought it would. She expected them to be all white, but as she looked them over, she saw greens, blues, pinks, and even a purple. Leah wished she could try all of them, but she expected that this wouldn't be the last time Eric brought her here (if she was guessing correctly, that is), so she settled on a regular strawberry icecream.

"Strawberry." Eric poked Leah in the ribs slightly. "Come on! You have a world of flavors!" Mrs. Quinn looked at Eric, seeing something in his actions that he didn't even see himself. "I'll give yall an extra scoop if you want," She started, and Eric gave her a gentle smile. "Thanks, but I can pay for i-" The woman shook her head profoundly. "No dear, its all on me."

Leah chuckled slightly. "Yeah, I can see that," Leah poked Eric back, feeling her face flush a rosy pink. "Ah, but strawberry sounds good to me." Leah nudged Eric with her shoulder. Mrs. Quinn said something, and Leah began to think that Mrs. Quinn must really be a mother figure to Eric. She was nice, caring, and obviously enjoyed Eric's presence in her shop. It made Leah feel a bit more secure knowing that Eric wasn't confined to his abusive parents.

Nodding, Mrs. Quinn opened up the freezer that held all of the icecream, holding a large ice cream scooper in one hand. Winking at Leah, which made Eric flush for some reason, she grinned and looked down at the strawberry icecream. "Cone or dish dear?" She asked.

[ it's okay :D ]

Leah smiled and watched Mrs. Quinn for a moment before saying, "Cone, please." Leah was glad that this place had such a friendly atmosphere. Mrs. Quinn was wonderful, as far as Leah could tell. Eric seemed to like her very much, from what she could see, and this place made Leah, frankly, feel more secure. More secure, at least, than her own home, and probably Eric's.

Instead of taking one of the small, cake cones that she usually did, the woman took a chocolate drizzled waffle cone and filled it to the top with soft, creamy, strawberry icecream. She handed it to Leah, then raised an eyebrow at Eric. "Eric, what do you want?" The teen glanced down at the freezer, then as he stepped forward, Mrs. Quinn raised an eyebrow. "Good golly, is that the new style!" She gestured to his shirt, and Eric blushed.

Leah smiled as she watched the friendly elderly woman get her icecream, then took it from her hand with a nod of thanks, stepping back to allow Eric to see the large-ranging selection of icecreams in the freezer. She examined the chocolate-coated cone for a moment before smiling. Mrs. Quinn was really nice. Leah had taken one lick when Mrs. Quinn made the comment, which made Leah laugh a little, seeing Eric's face flush, but she'd let him answer for himself if he wanted. Leah knew her own shirt was tattered, so Mrs. Quinn must think it was just a style.

"Actually, yes!" Eric winked at Leah, before gesturing to her own shirt. "It's match with a friend day Mrs. Quinn, didn't you know?" The woman seemed confused, and blinked once, before shaking her head, rolling her eyes. "Teenagers." She muttered, before placing a hand on her hip.
"Chocolate chunk." Eric said, gesturing to the icecream that was full of large brownie pieces. It was rich, but he was in the mood for it anyhow.

Leah surpressed a laugh at Eric's comment to Mrs. Quinn, and smiled at her remark on teenagers. Leah knew that teenagers, even though she was one herself, were rather odd. Leah frowned at Eric's choice of icecream. It looked extremely decadent [sp?], and she wasn't one for somethingas chocolaty as that. Shrugging, Leah continued to eat her own icecream, rather content. What'd she'd heard about icecream was correct: it was delicious.

"Wait-" Eric said, right as Mrs. Quinn was about to scoop out the icecream. "Make that a butter pecan." Eric always ended up changing his mind, and soon, he was presented with a large cone of creamy icecream, topped with pecans and a bit of caremel syrup. The woman handed them both napkins, before turning away, scrubbing off the counter, though it was already squeeky clean. "Shoo! Go take you're date somewhere else, in the corner perhaps? Privacy is a must." She stated, winking sugustivley.

Leah rolled at Eric's sudden change-of-mind. She stepped back a bit more when Eric was given his icecream, and when Mrs. Quinn identified her as his "date" she felt her face flush, tinging red when she said 'privacy is a must.' Leah, if it'd been anyone else, would've opened her mouth and detested that assumption, but Mrs. Quinn seemed different, like she wouldn't judge, so Leah just kept her mouth shut, hoping Eric wouldn't mind she didn't oppose Mrs. Quinn's statement.

"Yeah, sure..." Shaking his head, he rolled his eyes and guided Leah away from the woman, placing a gentle hand on her back, before exiting out the door. Outside, there were a few small patio tables, and Eric pulled out one of the chairs for her to sit down at, giving a grand bow and winking playfully.
"You like it?"

Leah smiled slightly and felt another of the electric shivers travel down her spine whenver Eric touched her. She chuckled at his behaviour when they got outside and took a seat, crossing her legs leisurely. "Yes, it's quite good." Leah chuckled and stared around them. She'd never been in this part of town before, and, now that she looked at it, it was actually quite nice. "You come here often? Lucky."

"It's like a second home... exept that I get way to much icecream." He laughed, then sat down, the umbrella above them stirring in the warm breeze. He licked at the icecream cone, then gestured to Leah's. "You're dripping." Sure enough, her strawberry ice cream was beginning to melt down one side. "Hurry and lick it!"

Leah laughed as well, then chuckled when she had to tilt her head (and the icecream cone) to get the dripping substance. It was still good melted. Leah smiled at him and leaned back, then commented, "I'd rather be here and have too much icecream than at my house and have none at all." Leah chuckled, sighing and taking another lick of icecream. "It's nice outside, isn't it? Better than yesterday." Leah laughed.

Eric nodded, but then patted his stomach. "It's hard to refuse Mrs. Quinn. I think she's set on getting me fat." He laughed slightly, and looked up at the sky, that was blue and dotted with fluffy white clouds. "It's much nicer. Storms always give away into pleasent weather." As he said that, he wasn't sure if now, he was even talking about the weather at all in the first place.

Leah laughed at him: a genuine laugh, not just a laugh that would go along the lines of "insert laugh here," but a real laugh. She felt a growing sensation of warmth swelling in her chest as she took another lick of her icecream. Leah remained quiet for a moment and just enjoyed the icecream, weather, and his company. "How long have you known Mrs. Quinn?" Leah asked, turnin her eyes to him again.

"Mrs. Quinn?" Eric trailed off, cocking his head to one side, calculating how long it had really been. "About two years, ever since she opened this shop." He was about to continue, when he glanced up, looking at Leah, and what he saw made his eyes widen in surprise. Behind her, her whole family was heading in closer to them, the children bouncing with exitment. Her parents were holding hands, talking to eachother, and heading straight for the ice cream shop.

Leah nodded, then saw the look on his face. "What is it?" She turned her head around to see her family. Before she could look away, she caught Liam's eye, and a cruel smile spread across his lips as his strides lengthened until he stood beside her. Leah got to her feet, and turned around, staring at Liam, her parents finally catching her and walking over to them.
"Leah, you're supposed to be doing the chores, I thought?" Jospeh said, an obvious edge of annoyance in his voice.
Leah dropped her head and didn't try to stop Liam when he took the icecream cone from her hand. "Yes, sir," she said quietly. Liam grinned.
"Oh, strawberry. My favorite. One less cone to buy today, huh, Mother?" Liam sneered.
Marissa frowned and snapped at Leah, "Get back home, you lazy, good-for-nothing girl! You should be doing chores! Now leave!" When Marissa saw Eric, she smiled, "Sorry, dear, but Leah has more important things to be doing. Like the laundry, Leah." Leah nodded and scuttled off, biting her lip to hold back tears.

Stiffening as Liam aproached, he set his jaw as he shoved Leah backwards, taking the cone out of her hand, and deliberatly smirking at him. As Marissa snapped at her to go home and finish the chores, Eric shook his head, pursing his lips. "No. She's not going anywhere!" His words were harsh and deliberate, and as Leah started walking away, head down, he shoved his way past Liam, quickly catching up to her and taking her by the arm, pulling her around so she had to face him. "Leah! What are you doing! You cant just let them boss you around like that!" He hissed in her ear, before rage took ahold of him. He spun around, jaw set, hands curled into fists. His knuckles were white, and his eyes blazed in anger. "Why doesent LIAM go and finish the chores!? Why is Leah the only one that has to do anything around that lazy ass house!"

Liam smiled gently at his youngest sister, Winnie, and handed her the icecream cone and said gently, "Here ya go, girlie. Enjoy it, okay?" Liam kissed her forehead delicately before going after Eric and Leah, telling his parents he could handle this and that they should go ahead and get icecream. Marissa and Joseph nodded and moved out.
"Yes, I have to, Eric! They're my parents!" Leah pulled away from him, just as Liam walked up.
"Hello, lovebirds," Liam grimaced. "I think it's time to break this up. My parents, if I do believe, will most likely put a restraining order on you. I bet they'll believe any crazy story I make up. Hmm, maybe like you and Leah are having an affair behind their backs? They'll really get pissed at that one, Leah."
Leah shoved Liam, "No you won't! Just shut up! I'll leave him alone if you just keep your fat mouth shut!" Leah shoved Liam back and turned around and speeded around.
