Warm sunlight cast its warm golden rays through the slits in the barn wall. They cascaded over the floor and etched thier way into the stall, to where the black stallion was dozing softly, his coat gleaming in the new light of the day. The shadows slowly faded away into nothing, and Apollo stirred softly.

Zoery stirred and got up, waking up with a yawn. Opening her eyes fully, She got up and looked around getting up. She looked at him. "Do you want to come outside boy?" she asked.

Apollo snorted softly, opening his eyes and focusing on the small figure in the straw. He stumbled to his feet, favoring his wounded leg and pushed his head against her chest.

Zoey giggled and petted him. She opened the stall door wide open. "The fields ip ahead." she said, smile bright.

Apollo whickered softly, then slowly walked out of the stall. He stopped in the isle, and looked expectantly at her as if to say, are you coming or what?

Zoey smiled and closed his stall door, walking outside and sighing. She looked back at him. She looked over and smiled even bigger to see Jaybird out training. "Look. She's a natural."

Apollo snorted, ignoring his sister and walking past her, limping. He snorted for her to follow, favoring his leg.

Jaybird flicked her tail and walked over to him. "Hey bro, how ya feeling?" she asked, cocking her head, eyes shinning.

Apollo sighed. "Iffy." He looked at Jaybird, his ears pricked upwards, forlock settling in between them and covering his white star.

Jaybird cocked her head. "What do you want now?" she asked and looked at him. She looked over at Zoey, watching the others racing. She smiled and snorted then turned her head back to meet her brothers toubled gaze and waited for him to say the reply.

"For the heck of it, let me race!" He whinned happily, then pawed the ground in a frenzy.

Jaybird smiled and whinnied. "If you think your legs good enough then, what the heck!" she said and started to run off, like a bullet.

He tossed his head, gesturing towards the track. With his long black mane whipping in the breeze, he broke into a canter, and easilly cleared the fence.

Jaybird turned back, jumping the fence and smiled. "Ready... set... go!" she broke off into the run, running again like a bullet down the track.

Apollo took off, his feet flying faster and faster over the ground, his large muscles pumping under his hide. Black coat flashing in the sunlight, his hooves threw up sand and dirt behind him, leaving a trail in the freshly plowed dirt of the track. He caught up to Jaybird, then ran side by side with her.

Jaybird smiled pumping herself more. "I was just playing around but, not anymore!" she laughed and pushed herself more faster.

"Really?" Apollo tossed his head into the air. "Because I'm on a lesurly sunday stroll!" He surged forward, his side brushing against hers.

Jaybird's eyes widended and he finally, they went across the finish line. She heaved a sigh and collapsed to the ground. "Phew!" she heaved and looked at him smile, crossing her lips and bumped him. "Good job!"

Of course, Apollo's leg was bleeding, and he lifted it softly off the ground, his sides heaving, hide coated with a thin sheen of sweat.

Jaybird giggled and walked over to him, licking the tangy blood off his leg. She looked up at him and pressed against him. "This is the brother I know..." she whispered. Zoey was looking at them, eyes shinning.

As the stallion whickered to his sister, something caught harshly around his neck, dragging him backwards. He let out an earsplitting whinny, throwing his head up into the air and tugging forward, only to be yanked backwards harshly. Trying to rear into the air, he was pulled off his hind feet and fell to the ground. A lasso came flying through the air, also settling around his neck. Kicking and biting, he pawed at the ropes, being hauled towards the gaping mouth of a wide, dark trailer, labled Fairwood Breeding Stables on the side.

Jaybird gasped as something start pulling him. She whinnied and went for him, but something was pulling her back. Zoey's dad was pulling back. She looked at him, eyes to her whites and whinnied again loudly. Zoey came over to his side, eyes filled with film. "Dad let him stay, he makes Jaybird happy, he makes me happy." Dad looked at her and shook his head. "I'm sorry."

Apollo found himself surrounded by humans, all waving thier arms and making him snort, tossing his head and stepping backwards, to get away from them. His back legs soon pressed against the raised floor of the trailer, and someone started to yell, waving his arms. Apollo whinned at the confusion, and before he knew what was happening, he had backed in fear into the trailer, and the door was swinging shut.
