Shay watched Elora with amusement as the girl had jumped and clutched her chest, trying not to burst out laughing. When she started laughing, Shay couldn't help but laugh too, despite the dark vibe the storm had provided. But she couldn't deny it, Elora was a bit of a wuss. For some reason though, Shay didn't mind it. "You ain't kidding." She joked, shaking her head mockingly, as if she was disappointed. "Sometimes that comes with over protective parents?" Shay said, shrugging her shoulders. Though she had no idea what it was like to have parents who cared, she longed for people who did.

Elora mulled over Shay's question, her smile fading a bit. "Well," she began, "Sort of. My dad was pretty protective." Though her words came from her throat clearly, she felt a piece of her crumble; mentioning her father, even this long after his disappearance, still managed to be a kick in the gut. You'd think by now that she'd externally pretend he never existed, but he was still her dad, and she couldn't help but let the words 'my dad' slip from her mouth every so often. It kept her from believing he was gone for good. Maybe it was foolish. "Anywho! I think the movie's just about over." Gesturing to the TV, she slapped on a grin.

Shay listened to what Elora had to say, her blue eyes kept on her softly. "My parents never really cared, honestly." She muttered softly, partially to herself. All of the bruises, pain, and neglecting made Shay feel more hate for her parents than she has for quite some time. Though they were her parents, Shay didn't give a shit about them. Not one bit, and she didn't plan to. When Elora spoke, Shay raised her gaze back up to Elora's, and faked a smirk. "Ah, yeah. Right, the movie." She chuckled, turning her head back to the TV, but didn't pay all that much attention. Shay's past had been drilled into her mind, like a nightmare she couldn't wake up from.

Elora really tried to focus on the movie, she really really did, but Shay's words got the best of her attention. She looked over to the girl, and her mind seemed a million miles away. Frowning lightly, her lips pursed together, eyes skittering around the room as she debated on what she had thought to do next was a good idea or not. In her opinion, it probably wasn't a good idea - but still, she couldn't bring herself to care that maybe it wasn't for the best. Without any further hesitation, she wrapped her arms around Shay. "I-if you need anything, I'm here for you," she whispered, "I know we've only known each other a day, but... I consider you to be my friend."

Shay had kept her eyes on the TV for the most part, her blue eyes showing next to no emotion, as if she was soulless. Then she felt a pair of slender arms around her, and out of instinct, Shay's body tensed up, and her breath hitched. Shay rotated her head, her eyes locking with Elora's, and she couldn't help but put on a little smile. "Thank you," she murmured, not moving her gaze away, "I'm here for you too." Shay couldn't return the hug, as she wasn't much of a hugger, but she was grateful. Elora was soft and really kind, but Shay being the complete opposite, couldn't bring herself to hug. "Friends are important."

Elora managed a little smile and nod in return, eyes still connected with Shay's - and then, she was aware of how close they were. Breath hitching, her cheeks burst aflame, heart rattling against her ribs like it was striving to beat its way out. Her hands, though they remained resting at her own sides, slickened with sweat. Every nerve in her being both screamed for her to back away and stay still, and inside her stomach churned some kind of anxiousness she couldn't pinpoint. Elora, transfixed, froze.

For some reason, Shay couldn't bring herself to rare her gaze from Elora's, or move away, despite how close they were. She swallowed a lump in her throat, fairly nervous herself as she debated on whether to move away, or touch the brunette in front of her. Biting her lip a little, though careful to avoid biting her snake bites, she lifted her hand, and ran her hand gently through Elora's short brown hair. Shay smirked softly. "Something on your mind?" She asked, her voice going husky. Shay instinctively cleared her throat.

And that's when she broke. How can she drive me so crazy? Her lips collided with Shay's, hand darting up to cup the nape of her neck in a frenzy she could only describe as carnal. She could still feel the shivers rack her as she kissed her; the girl she only really just met, but she couldn't help herself -- Elora, the introverted little dork, couldn't resist the bad-ass Shay even if she tried. Tongue sweeping against Shay's bottom lip, Elora felt her heart quicken.

Shay was about to say something more, when Elora came right at her, lips now on her own. Her heart pace quickened, and it took a minute to piece together what was happening, her lips not moving at all. Oh, what the hell.. Shay wanted this just as much as Elora did. Shay snaked her arms around Elora's waist, returning the kiss and pulling the shorter girl closer. She gently nibbled Elora's lower lip, and slipped her hand up the brunette's shirt, running her thumb over her curves. Feeling a tongue sweep over her lower lip, she opened up her mouth a bit.

Warning bells sounded in Elora's head as Shay's fingertips ran across her stomach, breaking the kiss to look anywhere around the room but Shay with wide eyes, scrambling to stand. Her whole body quaked, and she shook her head too fast. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that -- I'm not, I mean -- I'm not that kind of girl, y'know? I don't -- s-sorry." Pulse throbbing in her ears, she darted to grab her things, and she bolted out of the girl's house. What in the actual fuck is wrong with me? I can't just do that. I can't just... kiss someone. This isn't me, is it? I don't normally do this stuff - dear God, I can't even remember the last time I kissed someone, that wasn't from a minute ago. Her head crammed with thoughts so loud she couldn't hear the rhythmic pounding of her feet against pavement, much less her erratic heartbeat and breathing to match.

Shay tried to piece together what the girl was saying, she really did, but with how fast Elora was speaking, it took time for her to understand. When Elora had gathered up her stuff, Shay went to try and stop her. "Elora, wait!" She yelled, bursting out the door after her. But she stopped herself forcefully, reminding her conscious mind that Shay Brookson doesn't go after anyone, except Nisha. Shay grabbed her longboard and set in on the pavement, pushing herself forward and moving smoothly. Longboarding cleared Shay's mind better than anything, other than -- No! Shay shook the thoughts of alcohol away. She was not about to get herself drunk in the middle of a storm, away from home, with nobody around. Shay skidded to a stop on her board as she swerved to avoid a man, who clearly wanted more than her longboard. "Hey, girl," he called huskily, stopping her. Shay stepped back and eyed him like prey, "leave me alone." She clenched her jaw. The tall man tried to grab Shay's arm, but she merely stepped away and punched him square in the jaw, before continuing her longboarding ride away, in hope to find a place to think.

One week later...

One week ago, Elora and Shay kissed, and not a moment has passed when her heart has ceased to race, and thoughts of Shay didn't swarm her mind. Elora was an absolute mess. When it came to school work, she couldn't concentrate -- she was preoccupied with the memory of that night, and sometimes, she swore she still felt the ghost of Shay's lips pressed against her own. It was more than enough to drive her insane. Getting involved with someone on this level wasn't something she was accustomed to, not in the slightest.

Even now, as she stood idly by her locker, Shay dashed through her mind. It was only the first period of the day, but dear Lord, she was already exhausted.

Shay's blue eyes wandered aimlessly as she walked down the hallway, bag over her shoulder and skateboard in hand. It had been just over a week since she last saw Elora, or, well, kissed her. Shay didn't know why the brunette kissed her, but for some unknown reason, Shay was glad she did. Her mesmerizing gaze caught sight of the girl, and she hesitated before walking any further. Shay sighed, and walked up to her, placing a gentle hand on Elora's shoulder. "Could I talk to you?" She asked, trying to keep her voice.

Hearing Shay's voice made her heart cram up her throat. Muscles tensing, she willed herself to turn her head enough to glance at the girl, swallowing and nodding. "I, u-uh," she stammered. "Y-yeah. What is it?" She clutched the strap of her backpack like it was the difference between life and death, with her heart throbbing so loud she was almost sure Shay could hear it.

Shay bit her lip softly, trying to figure out what to say. This just might be the first time Shay has ever really been awkward in a time like this, her blue eyes not meeting Elora's brown until she spoke. Lifting her head and meeting the girl's eyes, she sighed. "What happened last week?" She asked straightforwardly, crossing her arms over her chest after placing her skateboard on the floor. Shay waited for Elora's answer, raising her eyebrows a bit.

And then came the question she'd been dreading to hear the past week. She took a deep breath in, then expelled it through her nostrils in an effort to soothe her nerves -- her heart only slowed a tad. With every ounce of courage she could muster, she lifted her chin to meet Shay's gaze. "I'm sorry. It was a spur of the moment." Her next words came off so soft she half-expected Shay to not hear them. "It... it won't happen again."

Shay waited for the shorter girl to answer, the long fringe that covered her left eye being flicked out of place so she could properly meet Elora's gaze. When the spoke, Shay decided to mess with her a bit. She didn't even realize how close they actually were until she stepped a little closer, a blank look on her face, and the ghost of a smirk forming on her lips. "Are you sure about that, Elora?" Shay asked, her voice going husky.

Elora's cheeks burned a scarlet, but for the first time in a while, her eyes did not falter. "How do you do that?" she questioned, quiet, head tilted to the side. "How do you turn my insides to mush? Just like that?"

Shay's smirk grew, one dimple forming on her cheek as she moved to stand behind Elora, not daring to wrap her arms around the girl, not just yet. Instead, she let her fingers brush the girl's curves. "It's a skill I've developed," she answered. Shay placed her chin on Elora's shoulder. "Do I make you nervous, Lora?" She murmured.

Elora shuddered, breath catching in her throat as Shay's hands caressed her figure. Getting touched like this, in front of everyone no less, was otherworldly to Elora -- but damn it all if it didn't feel good. In spite of so, she knew it couldn't go on. Not here. She took a step forward and turned. "Yes," she whispered in response, arms folding over her chest as if she'd just now become aware of herself.
