"OK, sure." I said, looking around for one. "Hey, how about that one." I suggested, looking at the abandoned den.

"Okay." Phoenix lifted his leg and sprayed his scent around the den. "Now. It's marked; nobody will come near us."

I nodded and curled up in the den with him, watching the storm start. "Phoenix?" I whispered, hoping what I was about to say wouldn't make him hostile. I took a deep breath, "I love you." I said, my gaze fixed on his softly.

[Blackberry]

The fur on Phoenix's tail stood on end. "What did you say?" he hissed at her.

"I... I love you." I repeated, now getting worried. 'I'm such an idiot.' I cursed to myself.

[Blackberry]

Phoenix growled. "No you don't. Nobody loves me. I don't need love." He stalked out of the den and into the rain.

"But I do, Phoenix! I have felt it for the last couple of weeks." I replied, my blue gaze resting on him. 'Why doesn't he understand!?' I thought. "Need and want are 2 different things, Phoenix. You had a mate once." I said calmly, trying to keep my temper under control. After all, he was my friend.

[Blackberry]

"I didn't love her!" I spat. "I don't need love. I don't want to love!" I was already emotionally scarred after I saw my mate as she lay, bleeding on the ground. Their screams as they accused me of murder. Me, running... as fast as I could... My eyes widened and I turned and ran.

[P r o m i s e r]

"Phoenix!" I called after him. I shook my head and dashed after him, trying to spot him in the rain. My heart pounded as I ran, catching his scent. Heaving in a deep breath, I howled at the sky, lightening bolts crashing around me. I caught a glimpse of Phoenix, "Phoenix watch-" But I was cut off by lightening striking him in the foot. "Phoenix!" I yowled. I dashed towards him, and gasped at the blood running from his foot... And the smoke. (I died at that part.)

Phoenix yelped as the lightning zapped him. The fur had burned right off. Blood crusted the wound and the skin was hot and pulsing. He rasped his tongue painfully around the wound, wincing.

I whined and licked his wound, rain plastering my pelt. "C'mon. We gotta get you back to the den." I said, helping him to his paws. "Forget Pirranah's. Lightening could kill you." I said hystarically.

[Blackberry]

He growled, failing to see the humor in joke. He brushed past her rudely, limping on the burned paw.

I sighed and helped Phoenix to the den, laying down with a huff. "I'm sorry about your foot." I woofed, feeling a bit bad. It was kind of my fault.

[Blackberry]

"You think this is your fault?" he asked rather sharply. He bent his head to lap his tongue over the burned flesh, wincing again. Phoenix gingerly set it on the ground and turned his broad head to glare at her.

"Well, kind of." I replied, giving my honest answer. "I shouldn't have brought up your past." I added, returning his cold gaze.

[Blackberry]

Phoenix curled his lip. "You're right," he said in a dark tone, a growl rumbling in his throat.

"Well, I'm sorry." I replied, licking his wound softy.

Phoenix jerked his paw away, placing it under them with a angy glare at her.

I gulped in guilt, and looked away. Sighing I tucked my head in my chest comfortably, and listened to the rain. 'I'm sorry.' I thought, before turning to Phoenix. "Here." I said, pulling a couple rabbits out for him.

He took the rabbit, not saying anything. He chewed slowly, gaze fixed on the wall.

My eyes glowed in the dark cave, and I growled at something outside. I saw a pair of green eyes, and leaped on the intruder. "Kaitlyn!?" I asked, seeing my long time best friend. "Layla!" She said happily, shoving me off. I couldn't believe it. My best frriend was here at last!

[Blackberry]

Phoenix groaned. More wolves?

"Phoenix, calm down. Kaitlyn is just my friend." I told him. Kaitlyn was a white wolf with dark green eyes. "Pleasure to meet you, Phoenix." She greeted, dipping her head.
