Phoenix broke away with a kind smile. "Yeah, you're welcome." He stretched before looking at the moon as if stared softly back at the two wolves. He tilted his head back and howled.

I smiled and let out a beautiful howl that sounded like a song, closing my mesmerizing blue eyes. I felt my heart beat increase as I finished the howl. Does Phoenix love me? What would he say if I asked? I thought with a confused look on my face, though I tried to keep in natural. 'phoenix/' I whispered, looking over at him with my aqua orbs. "H-How do you feel about me?" I asked, swallowing a knot forming in my throat. I just hoped I said the right thing.

Phoenix flicked an ear. "Well," he said. "I feel like I ate a really juicy rabbit, and now I'm laying in the sun, sunning my belly." He rubbed his stomach with a paw. "So, I guess you make me feel warm and full."

I smiled and searched his eyes for a moment. 'My heart beat is increasing.' I thought, trying to stop it. I could basically hear it pounding with my feelings for Phoenix. I looked at my paws in embarrassment and blushed lightly.

Phoenix yawned and padded to the den.

I sighed and followed him before falling asleep.

In the morning, I realized the sun was up already. I padded out to the river, and lapped up some water before singing a song called Keep Holding On. "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vtzyya7dQcU&feature=player_detailpage" I sang beautifully.

"Stop that!" Phoenix yowled. He wasn't used to her singing all the time, and covered his head with his paws.

I bared my fangs, but stayed calm. "Fine, then." I growled, now just watching the sunrise. But out of nowhere a fish slapped me in the face, and I fell in the water. I gasped for air, and crawled out, walking over to the den with a vicious and irritated look on my face. "Stupid fish. Stupid everything." I growled.

Phoenix yawned, approaching her. "You're letting a fish attack you without doing anything?" he asked, unimpressed. He crouched near the lake, waiting for another fish to leap up.

I laughed and licked his ear. "Yep. I cant do anything about." I replied jokingly before padding back to the lake, waiting for it to pop up. Then it did. I snatched it in my jaws. "Feel the pain and revenge you scaled biotch!" I growled at the fish.

Phoenix watched her. He lowered his snout from to the lake. He yelped as a fish leaped out. It's mouth was full of razor sharp teeth, and its tiny black eyes were on Phoenix. He barely got out of the way. It looked like a salmon, except it was tiny. It squirmed on land a little bit before the lake grabbed it and tossed it back into the water. "That was a pirannah," he growled. "Layla, we should leave. Fishing isn't safe anymore. Let's go."

"Good point." I replied, padding after him. My stomach churned for food, and I spotted an elk carcass. I smiled and ate happily, waiting for Phoenix. "Are you just going to sit there like a dead carcass or what?" I joked, giving a cocky smile.

Phoenix leaped on it, tearing into it. He instantly spat it out. "It's old." Flies buzzed around it. The carcass was tough and a dark shade of pink.

I rolled my eyes and threw it in the lake.

We came to a steep cliff side. I knew exactly what to do. I leaped up scaling the wall and grabbing a branch, to pull my way up. "Let's see you get up this!" I teased, trying to test him.

Phoenix grinned. Over the month he had been with Layla, he had grown skilled in climbing. He scrambled up the wall, his pads soon growing bloody as the rocks cut over his paws.

I licked his paws in comfort, and gave a smile. I lifted me head, and my nose touched Phoenix's. I stayed still, slightly stunned.

Phoenix grinned. "Now, let's hunt."

"OK." I said, sprinting away, already on the scent of an elk. I skidded to a stop as I saw it, and I crouched low before leaping and landing on its back. I sank my teeth in its neck, driving it down to the forest floor. I dragged it to Phoenix. "Breakfast." I said, my tail wagging.

(You do know that an elk is twice a wolves size. Unless the elk is young, weak, old, or injured, it's kind of impossible for a wolf to take down an elk on its own.)

Phoenix dug into it. This time, it was fresh.

(Oh hush up. It was weak. But SUPER plump and fleshy. :3)

I ate with him happily, my taste buds tingling. I lifted my nose and smelt the air. "I smell a storm coming." I warned, seeing the dark clouds.

(....what? super plump and fleshy, yet weak?)

Phoenix tore off a hind leg and devoured it. He yawned. "Whatever. As long as it's not raining now, we're fine."

"Alright." I replied, giving his ear a lick. My feathers pierced into my ear waved, and I smiled. These feathers were a symbol of me. I was the only one with feathers put in my ear.

Phoenix yawned again. "But, anyway, we need to find a den for the night."
