Phoenix looked at her coldly. "We were never meant to be together, Layla," he growled. "Never." He flicked his tail before struggling out of the gorge.

I watched him leave, and I looked at my paws. "What have I done?" I asked myself, knowing I screw everything up myself.

He managed to climb out of the gorge, and sat down nearby, scratching his side. His belly ached, so he decided to go and hunt.

My heart felt empty. Hollow. It was gone. "Why do I have to do everything wrong?" I asked myself, before I heard something. Out came my long time friend Kaitlyn, and I smiled. "Looks like you lost something important." She informed. "Yeah. Someone I love." I answered.

Phoenix wondered if he had done the right thing. Sure, he liked Layla a little. But he had to leave her. She was literally carrying danger in her mouth! Left and right, there was trouble. He sighed and kept going.

I shook my head and raced after Phoenix with an elk in my jaws. "Phoenix, wait!" I barked, and came to his side. "I want you to have this." I whispered, handing him the elk. "I'm gonna miss you. I'm sorry for getting in so much trouble. I just... I do the craziest things." I said and sat down for a second, the feathers pierced in my ear waving and my mesmerizing blue eyes searched his.

He snorted rudely, but took the elk anyway. Phoenix flicked and ear and looked at her. "Sorry won't replace any of the danger you put the both of us in," he said sharply. "You need to learn how to stay low and quiet. Trampling through the bushes like a badger is definetly not your smartest move" Flicking his tail, he began to eat the elk. Around bites, he said, "Anyway, I will let you travel with me. Just listen to me, and don't go off beng stupid."

I smiled and nudged his shoulder. "Thank you, Phoenix. I was just trained to be an assassin, not a regular Wolf." I replied, sitting down beside him. "Your the best friend I ever had." I said, though I didn't meet his gaze. I watched the area for any sudden movements warily, making sure nothing happened.

Phoenix flicked his tail. "Whatever." Gnawing on the elk's bones once more, he turned and trotted off.

I sighed and followed Phoenix, the feathers pierced behind my ear waving. My ears flicked forward, and I bared my fangs. "Phoenix, hold it." I whispered, listening to something in a bush. Stalking forward, I leaped on a Brute, slicing his shoulder. "Neon!!!" I snarled at the male from my pack. "Layla!" He shot back before I snapped his neck like a twig.

Phoenix jumped backwards. "You see?" he snarled. "Stop killing wolves, you stupid mouse-brain!"

(But seriously. I didn't angle the insult towards you, but can you stop making random wolves appear and attack us?)

(Yeah sure, sorry. We need SOME action. )

I snarled at Phoenix, lashing my tail. "Its not my fault! My pack has wanted me dead for months now, so you'll just have to live with wolves on my tail!" I snapped, mesmerizing blue eyes swirling in anger. First he gets angry at me for trying to get rid of my former pack, then when I give him an elk he randomly lets me travel with him, now he gets angry for the Delta of my pack attacking as if its my fault!? "Phoenix, you know its not my fault. Who's the one that saved you from Lobo and Sniper? That's right, I was that wolf. I risked my life for someone that doesn't even seem to care!" I snarled.

Phoenix slitted his eyes. "I don't even know why I agreed to letting you travel with me!" he snarled. "All you are is extra weight! You complain and whine all day." He stalked off, tail bristling. "This time, I'm done with you. And I mean it." Phoenix vanished into the trees.

"Hold it right there Phoenix!" I barked, stopping him. "When's the last time I whined or complained? All I try to do is be a good companion, yet, you treat me like crap! I have done nothing but care and try to control my temper, but no! Just because I had the slightest feelings for you, you decided to try and escape me!" I shot back at him, holding back tears. "Your just like my father... If your smart, you'll chose to prove that you are nothing like my father. I know you care, Phoenix. But you don't show it." I added, fur bristled.

(So what happens between them? I'm kind of hoping they stay as companions.)

Phoenix glared at her. "And this is coming from the female saying that love makes you weak?" he shot back, coming to face her once more. "Listen, female. Love is a weakness. I don't have any room in my heart for love, or weakness. I have to be cold and hard to survive, and you don't seem to realize that. Now, if you wish to stay my traveling partner, I suggest shutting your jaws before you say something else that could get you hurt," he added with a cruel sneer.

"Forget that, Phoenix! I actually thought I saw something in you." I replied before following him into the forest. After a while of walking, I decided to make my move. "I'm... I'm sorry for freaking out like that." I said softly, my gaze on the ground. I wasn't upset with him, but myself. I had fallen in love with a wolf, yet my temper was too much for him to return the favor. I hated that. "Maybe I am just a stupid female. And I'm sorry." I added, feeling guilty.

Phoenix had ignored her until she spoke. He flicked his ear. "Stupid female, huh?" he muttered under his breath, so soft he wondered if he had thought it. He didn't respond, just ignored her.

(Well what happens between them? Does Phoenix eventually fall in love, or what?)

I sighed and stopped to rest. The rain had stopped thankfully, but I was tired. "Phoenix, do you mind if we stop for a while?" I asked.

Phoenix only let out an agreeing grunt and lay down in a hollowed out log.

I sighed, knowing it was my fault. "I'm such a screw up." I growled, walking down to a nearby lake.

Phoenix follow her. "Stop feeling sorry for yourself," he snapped. "Whining and whimpering about how sorry you are won't make anybody forgive you."

"I'm not Phoenix. I'm not whining, I'm just stating true facts! Even you said so yourself, I'm no use to you." I replied, not looking at him, but at my reflection. "I just need some space to think things through." I added softly, nudging his shoulder before padding off again.

Phoenix looked after her, then lapped from the lake.

I laid by a pine tree, thinking over things carefully before hunting. I returned to the lake shortly after to find Phoenix, and I dropped the large elk next to him. "Lunch." I said, sitting next to him.
