Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Eric swallowed as she glanced at one of the clubs they were passing, before he shook his head sternly. "Nu-uh." Taking her shoulder, he guided her to his other side, not wanting her to even think of such a thing. "No motel, your money would be gone... In only a few days. There's always the church-" His words broke off.

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Leah shook her head, “I wasn’t planning on it—just merely pointing out there seems to be the majority of female jobs around here.” Leah grimaced, allowing him to move her to his other side. She shrugged, “I can get a job as a waitress or something, Eric. Then we’d have enough money to afford rent in an apartment, probably.” Leah shrugged when he mentioned the church. “The church…?” She asked. “Do they even let people stay there?”

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
"I've been to the church before. Yeah, they have a shelter kind of thing... But that's only if you want to go. I'm not going to promise everyone there is... exactly wonderful to be around." He gave her a lopsided smile, his hair falling over his eyes. Taking her hood, he flipped it over her head once again.

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Leah nodded, “Eh, it’ll be nice, though, to have a roof over our heads. I guess we could try it out. But either way I’m going to go out tomorrow and find a job. If we’re going to make a living here, we’re going to need to make money somehow. I’m up for being a waitress. Easy enough.” Leah smiled, squeezing his hand gently, “It’ll all work out in time, Eric. I’m sure of it.”

"I'll do the same..." Eric trailed off. He didn't know what a teenage boy could get as a job around here, and narrowed his eyes slightly. "I'll be a waiter." Tickling Leah slightly in the ribs, he was teasing. "But really, I dont know." They reached an intersection, and he took a right turn, heading down the sidewalk yet again. The streets were almost empty, exept for drunks and a few hookers, all who were the usual sights in such a city. Eric's arm tightened protectivley around her shoulder as a drunk staggered past, but he passed out a few steps later.

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Leah nodded, then laughed when he tickled her, “Hey!” She said, hitting his shoulder gently, in a playful manner. She settled down after he stopped, however, and kept a wary eye out on the people surrounding them. It definitely wasn’t a place that teenagers should be out at night. It was dangerous, with all the drunkards and rather perverted people that were lining the streets, it just wasn’t a place she wanted to be. And she could tell Eric was apprehensive, as well, when his arm tightened around her shoulders, but she didn’t complain. He made her feel safe.

After minutes of walking, Eric on edge, they finally reached the brick building. It's tall steeple pointed up into the sky, and it looked very out of place where it sat. Still, Eric moved up the steps, and quickly pulled open the side door. The large room had been converted into a shelter for the night, as the homeless flocked to it as evening fell. Many cots were laid out, and many people turned their heads as they heard the door creak open.

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Leah looked around and frowned at what she saw, but only momentarily. She hated to admit it, but compared to this, her own house had been lavish. However, Leah would definitely take this place over her home any day. It wasn’t like something she’d ever seen before, but she was glad that the people in here were not drunk, or hookers, or doing anything that would be considered ‘unreligious.’ After all, they were in a church. She didn’t find it surprising though, that the doors were squeaky, and that they garnered the attention of everybody around them when they opened the door.

"It's ok Leah, I know some of these people." Eric's face broke out into a grin, and one of the men pushed himself to his feet, standing raggedly and coughing into his sleeve. His face was taught and dirty, but his eyes were alive and twinkling. "Eric!" Eric smiled, and strode over. The two wrapped eachother in a huge bear hug, before the mane ruffled his hair. "Why are you here!" He exclaimed, and Eric grinned.

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Leah nodded. She let go of his hand as another one of the men in the room got to his feet and strode over to Eric. She smiled gently, thinking it was nice that even in this city Eric had friends he could rely on. Leah didn’t know he’d had any connections outside of their small neighborhood. Leah had never been outside of her home before, and the farthest she’d ever been was at the house that Eric’s father had taken her to. The thought made her shiver slightly, but she quickly shook it off, a gentle, small smile returning to her lips.

Mark had surprising strength for his figure, and he slapped Eric on the back, making him cough slightly. "Uhh-" Eric turned to Leah, before holding out his hand. "C'mere." Looking back to Mark, he smiled broadly. "This is Leah."

[ IT’S OKAY, IT’S OKAY, IT’S OKAY! :3 lol ]
Leah smiled gently as she noted that Eric had coughed a bit when his friend slapped him—in a friendly way—upon the back. She took Eric’s hand gently and smiled at Eric’s friend. He had a very kind look about him, and Leah was already starting to like him, even though she didn’t even know his name yet. There were some people in the world, Leah reckoned, that were like this man. Friendly with a welcoming air. With her free hand, Leah waved, “Hi.” She said, though she was still about uneasy and about what she was supposed to say.

Eric smiled as Leah took his hand, and Mark raised an eyebrow. "This is...-" Eric felt like he was put on the spot, even though Mark hadn't meant to. "This is Leah-" Mark cut him off. "She is your.. what-" Eric gave Leah a nervous smile. "She's my girlfriend."

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Leah looked tentatively at Eric, wondering what was making him so suddenly nervous. Mark seemed to just be genuinely curious, not trying to delve into Eric’s personal life. When Eric said she was his girlfriend, she managed to keep her surprise completely off of her face, and instead, she smiled. However, on the inside, she was wondering whether Eric was just saying that to explain why he had a girl with him, or if he was really being serious about it.

Mark let out a heart laugh, before scooping up Leah into a hug. Eric hoped she wouldn't mind, Mark was a... friendly man. He let Leah go, before scruffing Eric's hair yet again. "My, but what happened to Danielle?" Eric stiffened, and set his jaw, not answering Mark's question. He laced fingers with Leah, and gave her a kind smile. "Were just staying a night."

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Leah smiled, but she was caught off guard by his hug. She got over it quickly though, and hugged him back, patting his back, if somewhat awkwardly. When he let go, she smiled at him, good-humoredly. Eric sure had some nice friends. When Mark mentioned ‘Danielle,’ Leah saw Eric stiffen, and she immediately felt nervous, and her friendly demeanor ebbed off a bit. He turned to her and said something completely different than what they had originally been talking about. Leah nodded, confused. “All right.” She said softly, smiling rather nervously.

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Mark pointed to the corner, where a few clean sleeping bags were rolled up. "Grab one, and you can choose wherever you want to sleep. Unfortunatly, the cots are all taken." He winked at Leah. "But that's alright." He slapped Eric on the back, before turning and striding again. "Good to see you Eric!" Eric had a feeling that he probably wouldn't be left alone for long, Mark was rather talkative. "That's Mark." He said pointedly, smiling at Leah.

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Leah nodded, glancing over to the sleeping bags. She felt her cheeks flush, but only very lightly, when he winked at her because “all the cots were taken.” He wasn’t sure what he meant by that, but she had a slight idea. Leah watched him walk off, saying goodbye, but Leah had a strange feeling Mark didn’t expect to leave them for long. Leah chuckled, “How long have you known each other?”

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Eric saw Leah's cheeks flushed, and so did his own. He pursed his lips, and smiled at her question. He ran a hand through his hair, and raised his eyebrows, sighing slightly. "A long, long time." That should suffice. He wasn't sure exactly, but his words seemed to sum things up. Making his way over to the sleeping bags, he leaned down and grabbed two of them.

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Leah chuckled, “Obviously,” Leah rolled her eyes at his blunt answer. She didn’t care if he didn’t tell her exactly. She walked over with him towards the sleeping bag, offering him her hand to take the sleeping bag from him. “Eh, where do you want to put the sleeping bags?” Leah asked, eyes scanning the room, looking more at the people in the room rather than the numerous free spots.

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Eric grinned, handing her a sleeping bag, before grabbing one of his own. He pointed to a corner where not many people were, and took Leah's free hand in his. He guided her over, before unrolling his own sleeping bag and spreading it out. He wondered what she would feel if they zippered both of the bags together, but shrugged slightly.

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Leah nodded, holding the rolled up sleeping bag in one hand, her fingers laced through his with her free hand. Leah, once they’d reached the corner, rolled out her sleeping bag, plopping down on it without a second thought. Despite the fact that they were sleeping on the floor, even though they were in sleeping bags, she thought it felt nice. Leah smiled and looked at Eric, who shrugged for no particular reason, “Something wrong?” Leah asked, opening one eye and looking up at him.

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Eric watched Leah intently, as she unrolled her sleeping bag. Her slender fingers were intertwined with his, and he gave her a slight smile as she plopped down onto the bag, looking happy. When she asked him what was wrong, he shook his head and let go of her hand. Spreading out his sleeping bag, he laid down on it, lying on his stomach.

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
Leah eyed him suspiciously for a moment before shrugging, allowing him to let go of her hand. She sat up and unzipped the sleeping bag, eagerly crawling inside and getting herself nice and cozy, resting on her side, on of her arms folded and lying underneath her head. “Sure nothing’s wrong? Even something tiny? Like your nose itches?” Leah smiled in jest.

Re: Never Alone. (Shiori)
"Darn," Eric pushed himself up onto his elbows, before managing into a kneeling position. "I forgot the pillows." Sighing, he ran a hand through his hair, and got to his feet, walking away before Leah could ask him any more questions. He took a few minutes to locate the pillows, though he knew where they were and on the way back, Mark stopped him, talking for a little while.
"Talk to her, she knows somethings bothering you." Mark had obviously been watching them, and Eric paused, turning around. The pillows were stuffed under his arms, and he frowned. Shaking his head slightly, he just looked at Mark before turning away. Mark's strong hand caught him by the shoulder, forcing him to turn around and look him in the eyes. Though Mark was dirty and thin, his demenor demanded respect, and Eric couldn't help but give it to him. Nodding once, he pursed his lips and shrugged, lowering his eyes. "Maybe."
