Painted Promise- The Police Cases Empty Painted Promise- The Police Cases

(This is where all the police rescue cases will be held.)

The large black pickup pulled into the lot, its breaks squeeling slightly as it came to a jolting stop. The battered driver door opened, and large brown cowboy boots crunched on the gravel. The boots belonged to a man, very tall, well tanned and muscled for his older age. He had black hair, with flecks of grey in it. He was wearing a black T shirt, tucked into his faded blue jeans. Another door opened, and a smaller pair of boots hit the ground. They belonged to a youthful teen, with beautiful green eyes, and long amber blonde hair that fell gracefully past her shoulderblades. Imedietly, the girls eyes swept the perimeter, taking in the yellow police tape, the flashing lights, and most of all, the horse that was standing in the middle.
Her heart almost broke.
The poor, poor animal had been subject to terrible abuse and mistreatment. Madison glanced at her father, and he stepped forward, greeted by a police chief. They spoke a few words, and exchanged a few nods, making an understanding with eachother. Meanwhile, Madison had slipped under the yellow tape, and inched closer to the horse.

Painted Promise- The Police Cases Empty Re: Painted Promise- The Police Cases

Post by Tayssi Sat Oct 01, 2011 7:40 pm

Name: Joker
Breed: thoroughbred
Gender: stallion
Personality: Joker had been a great stallion. When he was young, he had been a steeplechaser and then at the age of 4 went to doing cross country competitions until he was 6. But his owners died and from there, he had went to his new home. He was literally kept in a cage just big enough for him and was fed maybe once every 4 days if he was lucky. It was a miracle Joker didn't die. He was also abused physically, which resulted in a few scars here and there. The worst wound he had received was a chunk of flesh from inside his left leg, which has resulted in a large, nasty scar. When he was found they had immediately taken him away. He won't let anyone near him when he's not tied up.
Painted Promise- The Police Cases 097

Seeing the girl coming towards him the overo thoroughbred stallion pulled his head high, staring downa t her with frightened eyes. He pawed the ground nervously, not wanting her to get any closer. But Joker couldn't escape, as he was tied to a post. The once gorgeous, strong stallion was now a total reck. His mane and tail was matted, he had hardly any muscle left, he was skinny and wounds and blood dotted his coat. To say he was a mess was an understaement. His breathing became laboured and frightened as the girl came closer to him. He to leave, to run for soem sort of protection, but he tied and couldn't go anywhere.

His pawing at the ground continued and his head stayed high, hoping to keep his head out of reach from the girl. He was scared, he was weak, he was wounded and he was unprotected. He couldn't do anything to this girl. A horse would probably strike at the girl, but even after abuse, Joker still had a soft heart and didn't like to harm others. That didn't mean he wouldn't, though.

Painted Promise- The Police Cases Empty Re: Painted Promise- The Police Cases

Seeing the horses fear, Madison stopped, then lowered her eyes to the ground, hunching her shoulders slightly. By doing that, she was conveying the message that she was no threat, that she didn't want to hurt him. She spoke low and soft, then slipped a bright orange carrot from her sweatshirt pocket, holding it out in an open palm, but keeping her eyes downcast onto the ground. She was very worried about this horse, at least from her first glance.
Madison didn't even try to step forward, but kept her distance.

Painted Promise- The Police Cases Empty Re: Painted Promise- The Police Cases

Watching the girl as she stopped, lowered her gaze and hunched her shoulders, showing she meant no harm to the stallion. Joker relaxed slightly, lowering his head, but his nervous pawing continued. His breathing didn't slow or calm down and his ears stayed back, his eyes showing a mixture of nervousness, fear and uncertainty. Watching as the girl pulled out a carrot, Joker's leg paused midway in the air and he eyed the girl cautiously. She didn't raise her gaze, nor did she even attempt to move closer to him. Should he risk being harmed just for a carrot?

Joker stayed where he was, his hoof moving to rest on the ground. He wasn't sure about this girl, but he knew he didn't want her any closer to him. His posture stayed rigid and tense and his eyes stayed on the girl at all times. But the stallion was exhausted. Even if he wanted to, he couldn't do anything to this girl. All he wanted right now was to rest.

Painted Promise- The Police Cases Empty Re: Painted Promise- The Police Cases

Madison wasn't disheartened, though the stallion didn't take the carrot from her. She very slowly moved forward, snapped the carrot in two, and set one of the pieces on the top of the post he was tied to, then stepped back, keeping her eyes down. She stayed about 10 feet away from the stud, and she could feel other peoples eyes on her, making her a bit edgy. Couldn't they just leave the pair alone?
She hoped the Stud would be alright on the way home, in fact, she had packed the trailer bed full of thick, dry straw for the 3 hour trip home. There was a bucket of fresh water, and a whole hay bag stuffed full with rich, green alfalfa hay.

Painted Promise- The Police Cases Empty Re: Painted Promise- The Police Cases

His nervous pawing started again as she came towards him, jumping as the loud sound of carrot breaking into two came to his sensitive ears. He stepped away from the girl when she came up to him, relaxing as she moved away. He looked at the half carrot resting upon the post he was tied to. He just looked at it for a while, before he glanced at the girl. Feeling all the eyes of everybody upon him and the girl, Joker's ears flicked back again as he started to get aggitated. There were too many people around here. Too many people watching him.

Trying his best to ignore the people watching him, he turned his gaze back to the half carrot. He lifted his head slightly and nosed the carrot, unsure about it. It rolled off the post and hit the ground and Joker snorted in distaste. Then he lowered his head and ate it.

Madison smiled at the horse, as he lowered his head and very slowly, ate the carrot. She could see the fear in his eyes, and her heart went out to him. She silently conveyed to her father, who was watching, that there were too many onlookers, and he and the Police chief soon shooed all of the nosey townspeople back into their cars. Madison then turned her attention back to the horse, then stepped closer, her movments even and fluid. After one step, she stood still, not making any move to move forward, casting her eyes upon the ground once again, her shoulder hunched.

Seeing a movement in the corner of his eyes, Joker raised his head quickly, eyeing the girl cautiously. But then he noticed most of the other people were gone and he visibly relaxed. Not totally, but mostly. He snorted and turned his dark gaze back to the girl and pawed the ground, his body shaking as a cold wind blew. His stomach growled and the stallion drew his head back, blinking in surprise. Snorting in distaste, the overo thoroughbred stepped back, pulling harshly against the rope which tied him to the post.

He ignored the halter which threatened to cut into him as he pulled. He wanted to get away from here. Get some water, something to drink and good, long rest. He didn't want to be stuck here in the blazing sun.

Madison slowly, causiously stepped forward several more steps, pausing after each one, untill she was arm length from the gelding. Once again, she cast her eyes downward, then held out the other half of the carrot in her open palm, dead still, making sure she posed no threat. Her blonde hair blew slightly in the wind, and she could sense that a storm was on its way.. They had better get this horse into the trailer.

The stallion froze as the girl came towards him and then tried, more franticaly to get away. But, when she was an arms length away, holding the carrot out to him, Joker stopped his struggling and watched her. He just stood there, not moving, watching the girl before him. He eyed the carrot in her hand and he reahced over and nosed it from her hand so it fell to the ground. Stepping forward slightly so her could lower his head to eat it, though stepping around the girl.

He ate the carrot and then raised his head. Well. There was only one way to see if she'd hit him at all. Joker reached over and nipped the girl on the arm. Not hard enough to draw blood or seriously hurt her, jsut to see. If she was waiting for a reason to strike him, this was it.

Madison saw the horse coming at her with his teeth, and her father jumped forward, but Madison didn't move at all. The bite did hurt, and would probobly leave a dark bruise, but that wasn't anything special. She kept her posture soft, her one hand still raised, palm up, where the carrot had lain, even though the treat was already consumed. A bit of thunder rolled in the distace, but the girl didn't move a muscle.

Joker saw a man jump forward and the thoroughbred pulled his head back quickly, his breathing quickening again. He looked over at the man, fear filling his eyes once again. His ears flicked back and he watched the man cautiously. But, then thunder rolled over and the stallion turned his attention to the sky. A storm was here and shortly, it would be a big one. Joker looked at the girl. She ahd done nothing. She didn't strike him, nor did she flinch. Did this mean she was going to try to help him.

Joker watched the girl and then looked over at her father. He didn't like the man already. It was man that had hurt him. Never had a girl tried to harm him in his life. Why would this girl be any different? He watched her for a moment longer, before relaxing slightly.

With her open palm, Madison slowly reached forward, her hand gently touching the horse on the neck, letting him know she wasn't there to hurt him. Her eyes looked into his, and she saw the horse he used to be. She gestured for her father to stay back, judging from how the horse had reacted, he was more of a womans horse, at least for now. She stroked him very lightly, then started soothing him with quiet soft words.

[cenrer]Joker jumped in surprise upon feeling the soft touch of the girl. He went to bite her, ears back, but he saw her soft, gentle gaze and the thoroughbred stallion stopped and snorted in distaste. As she looked into his eyes, Joker met her gaze evenly, though they showed uncertainty, nervousness and fear. Though she was touching him and he wasn't trying to harm her, that didn't mean he trusted her.

He pawed the ground, growing more nervous by the second her hand stayed there. Then she started to stroke him and his breathing picked up again. Then she started to speak softly to him, calming him down. The stallion tugged slightly on the lead, wanting to leave this place. but he knew he couldn't.[/center]

Madison inwardly sighed. This stallion was very much messd up, making him so hard to work with and keep calm. She slowly untied the leadrope, keeping her gaze calm and quiet, letting him know everything was fine.
"Good boy. Easy now."
She spoke softly, almost a whisper, before clicking with her tounge and stepping forward.

Joker watched as the girl untied him and then tried to lead him. Listening to her voice, Joker snorted and started to follow. His head flicked up in mild surprise when she clicked her tongue. The sound was loud and hrash to his ears, though he didn't make any move to attack her for it.

He came to the trailer and he looked back at where he had been tied up, in the sun. He looked up at the oncoming storm and then he walked into the trailer. He was used to them. Well, he had to be, afterall, he did used to do steeplechase and then cross country, so obviously he would've gone into a trailer many, many times.

Madisons eyes widened as he stepped lightly into the trailer, he had obviously done it before. Unhooking his lead, she closed the door behind him, then peered through the back window, hoping to see him eat and drink something before they started out on thier long ride.

Looking behind him as the door closed, Joker snorted before he looked around for food. He found some hay and he went to it straight away and started to eat. He saw the water. Hesitating slightly, Joker lowered his head, breathing lightly and watching the ripples he created run along the surface. Satisfied by absolutely nothing, the thoroughbred started to drink.

Where would he be going now? He hoped, that one day he'd be able to compete again. Become that gorgeous, strong, trophy winning stallion he used to be.

Madison breathed a sigh of relief, then turned, seeing someone with a tv camera mounted on their shoulder. She frowned, very surprised, before her father came up behind her and pulled her gently away, glaring at the camera man.

(Hey, Im going to need a teenage boy.. You up for it?)

Madison opened the passenger side door and hopped into the battered truck, slamming it shut behind her. Her father joined her in the driver seat, and he started the engine.
"He's going to be a handful, Madison."
Madison sighed. He always said that.
