Taaka flashed Lithium a glance then turned back to her mate. She smiledc nuzzling his muzzle. " Dont feel bad. Im here now. And i love you." she said with a glow of happiness in her eyes. She pulled her head up to see her daughter. Taaka eyes lit up, she nickered to her. " Iolanthe! My baby!" She cried out. Running towards her. Taaka hugged her daughter tightly. A tear falling from her eye.

Taaka shuddered back. " your father never told you about me?" she asked. Wide eyed, whipping her head around to face Shasta.

"Mother, is that you?" her face turned pale "Father told me about you..... I missed you...." she said, hugging her tightly.

Dagger watched the whole ordeal. How come every one in this herd is lucky but me? He thought. The colt had lost his mother when he was young, but she never came back for him.

Iolanthe giggled slightly, and pulled Dagger into the hug, laughing.

Taaka smiled, delighted. She looked at the young grey speckled stud that Iolanthe pulled into the hug. Taaka smiled and nuzzled them both, she looked at her daughter licking her muzzle. " I love you, Iolanthe. Im here now no need to worry bout me going away for quite awhile."

"i'm glad your here, coz now, our family is complete! what else could I ask for! we've got a wonderful herd with amazing stallions, i've got father the most talented father I know, I've got uncle Lithium who is possibly the only horse in the world who is brave enough to take on cayotes, and i've got.......you........ your the best, loving, beautifulist, amazing mother anyone could have!" she whinnied, nuzzling her mother.

Taaka smiled as she heard her daughters words. " Im happy to hear that." She said. Looking over at Lithium. Trotting up to him she nuzzled his chest lightly, cuz he was so tall thats were she could reach. Lithium looked down at her, smiling at Taaka and Iolanthe. He hugged her tightly before she turned to walk over to Shasta.

He pulled away from the hug, snorting. "I took on a coyote, but no one seems to care!" Dagger growled, turning away. "I can be as brave as any of you!" His glare settled on Lithium. Did he dare challenge?

"but Dagger, your amazing too! you can stand up to the lead stallion and not even flinch! you can take on cayotes the size of wolves!!!" she said. Shasta steped towards Dagger "Look, I see you, as my son, but can you see me as your father? I hope you can, because only a true wild at heart Colt can see that...." he said, looking into his 'foster son's' eyes.

"I don't feel like it!" He snorted. "I fight off a coyote, where is my thanks? I am getting left out of the celebration, and Lolanthes mom, none of you guys notice me!"

Shasta shook his head in shame "i'm sorry i wasn't a good enough parent for you...." he said walking of into the forest.

"It wasn't you! It was, well, everyone else. It has nothing to do with parenting. All I wanted was to be treated like someone."

Lithiums eyes narrowed, then trotting up to Dagger. " i am sorry if you feel that way." he said. Not being mean, but still if Dagger wanted a fight he would get one. Taaka snorted and steped towards Shasta whispering in his ear. She turned to Dagger. Flicking her tail for him to come..

Dagger was about to scream out a challenge, but Taaka seemed to know. He put his head down, slowly walking up to her. "I just want to be noticed."

Shasta hung his head low, enough to meet up with his head "Dagger, your part of my family, everyone is, but you, your a special part of my family..." he whispered to Dagger.

"I know, I know, but while everyone has some important job, I just sit around and flick at flies." He said, nuzzling Shasta.

after Iolanthe and her future mate, you might not realise but, since your are more or less my son, that makes you one of the greats to be." he said softly, nuzzling him.

Taaka bent her head downn and nuzzled Daggers head up, " listen Dagger. You mean everything to everyone in this herd, and no one will ever change that. You may not have an important job in this herd, but to me and the things you do to protect the herd, is more important than being a leader and a warrior. You have all the leadership of a true leader and the strength of a true warrior..." she said out-load to where everyone can hear. Lithium nodded, " very true." he said trotting up beside Dagger. " You can be anything you dream. Dont let no one tell you different." He said, resting his tail on Daggers shoulder. Taaka nodded, smiling. she nuzzled his check.

Iolanthe managed to sneak away from the horses until she could not be seen or heard "Anthem! Anthem where are you?!" she said with a loud and painfull whinny.

Anthem snorted softly. He was away from the whole herd, as he had left as soon as the mare had showed up. Bitterly, her recalled all of the happy, joyful feelings that were going around through out the whole herd. He lowered his head, standing knee deep in a cold, swift stream. The rocks on the bottom swayed as the water made them tumble down the stream.
