Anthem whickered softly, and nodded his head. So much for the secret river.

as she entered the clearing of the herd, the stallions were sleeping, she jumped as she was embrassed by a hug, she looked up to see her fatheer "Oh Iolanthe! where have you been?" he whinnied, Iolanthe felt bad, she forgot to tell her father that she was going outside the herd grounds "but father, I-I-I....." she trailed of when she saw her father giving her a bad look, she hung her head low "sorry, father." she said as she settled down way away from the stallions.

[Spritz]

Anthem headed off into the silent darkness,wanting to be away from the herd a bit. He didn't mind Lolanthe, in fact he quite enjoyed her, but he couldnt be by the other stallions right now.

in the middle of the night, Iolanthe crawled up to the edge of the cliff and settled down there, she hung her front legs of the face of the cliff, feeling rather down, Iolanthe waited for morning to come.

Lithium flung his head around, seeing Anthum and Iolanthe coming back from the shadows.. Together! Lithium growled and trotted over to Shastas side. He glared down at Anthum. His tail lashed out behind him. Fury burned through Anthum's eyes. " Anthum go and guard the terrian. I dont want to see you sleeping when i get up for partol." Lithium glared at him, he held his head high and turned to look over at Shasta. " Go. Go talk to Iolanthe. I think theres something you need to tell her.... Something about her mother. She has been asking about her." Lithium dipped his head and turned to go lay down under a Oak Tree.

Shasta nodded, he knew it was about time she knew she was old enough. he went up to the peak and whinnied lightly to Iolanthe "Hi." Iolanthe said, watching Shasta lay by her side "I think its about time you knew about your mother, when you were just a newborn foal, your mother didnt have enough energy to get up, so she was easy prey to mountain lions, they came and surrounded you and you mother, I dragged you away from the lions to some where safe, but that was a wrong move.... I should of stayed there to protect you AND your mother..... when I returned, the lions had killed her....." he said, traling off sometimes, he came down from the cliff face and walked around the stallions whom were sleeping, Iolanthe started to cry, she ran up to her uncle "Uncle Lithium, is it true!? Did my mother get killed?!" she cried.

Dagger glared at the herd. Did none of them see his small, shuddering form in the coming darkness? He picked a rasberry from a bush, chewing it. Dagger headed to a small creek, laying next to it and watching the moons reflection.

Lithium grunted as she slammed into him. He sighed and wraped his head around her. A tear falling from his eyes. Her mother was his child-hood friend. " your father went back to go check on her and she was dead. The next day i went to go moan over her, and she was gone... Sometimes i wonder if shes still alive. If she survived all the lions.. Your mother had the most beautiful name; Taaka meaning Beauty Of The Angels." Lithium said with sadness in his words.

Iolanthe sniffed, her head rested on his neck, she showed the tiniest little peep of a smile "I know....I never even met her fully....but I miss her...." she said, that name, it was so beautiful, it made her cry more, she looked into his eyes "do you miss her uncle Lithum?" she said through her cracked up, soft and teary voice.

Dagger swung his head up, forlock swinging. "Who's there?" He asked, stepping back. He tried to be brave, stomping and rearing. Only a coyote stepped out of the bushes, foam dripping from its mouth. Dagger couldn't cry for help, he just waitied for it to approach. Once it leapt at him, Dagger spun around and his back hooves met its face. It must have been kiiled, and Dagger fell into the creek, a rock cutting his shoulder. His head lay on the other side, wound being purified by water.


He lay there, knocked out.

Lithium nodded slowly. " of course i miss her." He said. his thoughts broke off when he heard howls. He raced into the forest and stopped to see Dagger in the water blood forming around him. Lithium turned to see a coyotte glaring at him, he snorted and reared up slamming his hoovs upon its head. it yipped and fell to the ground dead. Turning back over to Dagger he sighed and helped him slowly.

"im glad you do..." she said, her father ran to a howl and saw Lithium, next to a dead Cayote "Brother, are you okay?" he said, checking him over for cuts or bruises, he turned his head to see Dagger, he nodded his head slowly "ohhhhhh" he gestured.

Lithium looked over at his brother and nodded. " Yes im fine. But Dagger.." he said flicking his tail towazrds his grey body. Lithium snorted, seeing the gaze in his brothers eyes. He sighed deeply and said " finne.." Slowly he went to one side of Dagger and dipped his head under his body and rolling Dagger onto his back with the help of his brother. Lithium lingered out of the forest and layed Dagger on the lush grass.

Anthem lowered his head to the ground, and sniffed it lightly, then raised his head into the air. His nostrils quivered as he tested the air for scents, and something caught his attention. A light,

Shasta sniffed Dagger's wounds lightly "There not too bad, but they're bad enough." he said, meanwhile, Iolanthe ran to a nice grassy patch, where she settled down for the night.

A light, scent made his ears prick upwards, and he flicked his tail, his nostrils opening and quivering slightly. Oh, how he longed to be without so many males around him. He wanted to be alone, or maybe with a mare. Either way, he wanted to be free. To be able to make his own choices for once.

Lithium snorted, his nostrils flaring to scent a mare in heat. He flicked his tail to silence his brother. Trotting forward slowly, he could barely make the shape out. Wide eyed and gasping he noticed is was Taaka! Lithium reared up flaring out his hooves. He let out a nicker toward her. Taaka's slender but large frame moved swiftly towards him. He noticed her beautiful brown coat with white specks around her cheat and shoulers. Her beautiful shaped head and body made its way gracefully towards Lithium. Taaka neighed in reply, rearing up and racing towards him. Lithium landed loudly running towards her as well. When they met, they both jumped in joy around eachother before they nipped at eachothers manes. Taaka smiled her black mane with white at the ends rode in the wind. Lithium turned to his brother, trotting with Taaka by his side. The scars on her body from the lion attack were barely showing.

Dagger blinked his eyes open, shivering from the water. "G-g-guys?" He whinnied, lifting his head.

"Taaka......?" he said in suprise, he saw her white speckled coat...... it was her! "Taaka!!!" he whinnied happily, he ran forward and embrassed her, nuzzling her beatiful, slender face "Taaka, where have you been?" he said lightly.

Shasta gave Taaka a great big hug, his eyes settling on the beautiful frame that stood before him.

Taaka smiled happily. Nuzzling Shasta. She neighed for her friend, a two-leg came out. He was dark skinned, his name was Little Creek.. Taaka smiled and turned back to her mate, Shasta. " The indians nursed me back to health.."
