Turning his head again, Zander sought out Peeta. He could see in the dim light her swollen hoof. He felt bad for not being faster, he could have saved her from pain. With a grunt, he struggled to his hooves. He winced at the pain in his side but ignored it. Limping over to her he said, "You should put that in the creek. The cold water will bring down the swelling." He stopped close to her but not close enough to make her uncomfortable.

Peeta turned her head to him and looked up at his muzzle. She smirked, "and you're one to talk Zander. The water could probably help with your pain too." She stood slowly and didn't put too much pressure on the hoof that brought pain to her and she stood there. As she did so a long willow limb laid gently on her muzzle laying beside her eye like hair would.

Zander chuckled, "I don't plan on lying down in the water. Besides, im fine."

Peeta rolled her eyes at him, "I'm sure you are." she shook her head and started limping towards the creek slowly. She winced every now when she stepped on a rock. When she got into the creek she sighed and stood there with the water going over her hooves. She looked at Zander and smiled, "thanks."

Zander smiled, watching her limp over to the water. He felt bad that she was hurt, blamed himself. "does it feel better?" he asked before she said thanks.

Peeta just nodded, didn't say anything for once. She looked at Zander and wondered why he was still sticking around. She also wanted to know why he was so nice. She sighed and laid down in the creek and let the water run over her body, it felt nice.

Zander dipped his thick skull and stared at the water for a long while. It was an awkward silent between them now, he could almost feel the unspoken question in the air that she was thinking. He didn't bother to answer though. Instead, he busied himself studying the way the water rippled around the large rocks in the creek and interesting image it created as it passed over the many colored pebbles. He lowered his mug to the cool liquid and stole a few sips, quenching his thirst.

Peeta let out a sigh and stood up she looked at where Zander was then shook the water off of her. She looked down at her hoof, it wasn't as swollen, she smiled and walked back to her willow and laid down. She groomed herself to get dry, stealing glances at Zander every now and then still wondering.

Zander didn't lift his gaze when Peeta exited the water. He continued sipping the water until he felt cool.
