Leah shook her head quietly, not bothering to look at Eric. She was scared. Leah had complete faith in Mrs. Quinn, and that she would win the arguement, but then again there was a part of her that reminded her her mother had used to be a lawyer, and her paretns would have an uphand. Shaking her head again, Leah stared outside and waited for them to get there. If she couldn't win custody of her, then at least Eric, she prayed silently.

Within minutes of terrible, heartwrenching silence, Mrs.Quinn pulled into the parking lot of a high end looking office building. Before the car had stopped rolling, Eric had unbuckled himself and cracked open the door, before jumping out, then wincing as he was painfully reminded of his bruises and sores. Leaning on the door for a minute, he closed his eyes in pain, before making his way to the other side of the car and opening the door for Leah.

Leah was on edge when the car rolled to a stop. She nodded a thanks to Eric for opening her door for her. Her bruises and cuts were beginning to ache all over again. Her mind was racing and she was scared out of her mind. Almost unable to keep herself from doing this, she hugged Eric tightly. "I'm scared, Eric. What if, in some cruel twist of fate, we're separated?" Leah whispered softly.

[ Spritz --- you are AWESOME. So don't doubt it, oaky? You are the best poster I've ever roleplayed with, and I'm not just saying that. I'm being really truthful. You're an amazing roleplayer, an amazing person, and you'll NEVER be classified as a failure. All right? So don't think crazy thoughts like that(: I have to go for now, but I'll be back around the same time I was back last night. Talk to you then, hopefully. I'm real excited for this post to mature. ]

Eric watched as she nodded her thanks, and got out, her face pale and taught. She looked like she might throw up any second, and she wrapped her arms tightly around his body, holding him to her, looking for some sort of comfort. As she whispered her terrifying words, Eric himself wrapped his arms around her own body, holding her close to him, his heart beat matching hers. He held her to him, his hand behind her head, and rocked both of them very gently.
"It cant happen." Eric whispered huskilly, his voice low, and cracking at the end sylable, giving away his emotions that were about to overflow.

[ D: all right ]

Leah felt a few stray tears make their way down her cheeks as Eric rocked them back and forth. The shallow yet meaningful movement helped calm Leah's nerves, and she simply nodded to his response. She couldn't stand the idea of going back with her parents. And Matthew. Shivering slight, she pulled away, the few measely tears that had managed to escape now dry trails over her cheekbones. She sniffed slightly and said, "We should probably be going." The words were spoken so softly she wasn't sure Eric would hear them, but Leah knew they'd have to get it over with sooner or later.

Eric pulled gently away from Leah as he felt Mrs.Quinn's hand on his back, lightly telling him it was time to go, and there was time for this later....hopefully. He turned, then laced fingers with Leah, holding her hand tightly in his, and straightening his shoulders, his dark eyes unreadable. He followed Mrs.Quinn up to the front doors of the large brick building, and she opened them, ushering the pair inside gently.

Leah had to use all of her strength to center herself and keep herself together. Be sensible, Leah, she kept telling herself. There's no possible way your parents are going to be able to get you back. Now after what they've done to you. Eric will be safe, too. There's no need to worry!
As they walked inside the building, Leah almost immediately spotted her six-person family in the corner. Lilly and Winnie were playing with My Little Ponies, Liam standing with his arms crossed, a smug and deadly look on his face, Marissa and Joseph conversing casually with a cop, who looked like he was enjoying their company. Immediately Leah's heart sank, and she struggled not to let it show on her face. Sensible, Leah, sensible!

[ yeah, I guess so, to make it interesting. They can't have a fairytale life or this RP isn't going to go anywhere. your thoughts? ]

Imedietly, as they walked through the doors, Eric saw, and felt the subtle tensing of Leah's muscles, her hand gripping his just a tiny bit tighter, even if she didn't know it herself. He looked at her eyes, and saw that she was staring at something in the corner, and turned his own eyes in the direction, his heart giving a leap of disapointment at the sight.
Standing, in a large, happy group, was Leah's whole family, assembled and looking nonchalant, like nothing had ever happened. They had even brought the children, for god sakes, perhaps in an attempt to show the officers that there was nothing to worry about, that they werent responsible for Leah's injuries.
Eric's dark eyes looked over to the other side of the room, and his heart started to beat wildly in his chest, his eyes hardening. Leaning against the wall, and wearing a black leather jacket, Mike was watching him with eyes that reminded Eric much of a vultures, as he circled in for a meal.
His fingers twitched slightly, as they shuffled forward, untill reaching the desk at the back of the room.

[ all right. Sounds good. Who goes home and who goes to the foster care? Would Eric, cuz his father's more abusive? Errr what? ]

Leah shuffled closer to Eric unintentionally when Liam caught her eye. She didn't want to talk to him. She could barely look at the freak, so how would she be able to talk to him? When Joseph saw her, he waved happily, as if he had missed her and was relieved to see that she was well. Rage boiled within Leah as she turned to look at her mother, who had put on a mock face of concern. The outcome looked hopeless. With each step she took, it felt like a pound of bricks was being added to her burden. "It's hopeless." She murmured, not sure if anybody could hear her.

Eric shot a deadly glare at Liam, who was looking pretty damn smug with himself, leaning against the wall, arms crossed over his chest. Eric's jaw tightened, and he turned back to the woman who was sitting at the desk, her hair arranged in a neat bun, fingers holding a pen, poised over a pad of white paper.
Eric stepped back as Mrs.Quinn stepped forward, and started to converse with the woman, who started jotting down notes in perfect handwriting. His grip on Leah's hand tightened as he heard her whisper, and he shook his head. "No Leah, it's not."

[ uhm, I guess Eric should go to a foster home. Seeing as Leah's parents brough the whole enterouge[sp] of their family to show they're 'child friendly' they would pose a better arguement. A father who's just by himself and not looking very pleased would be considered more of a threat. and sorry, i'll reply to that after this xD ]

Leah shook her head when Eric responded to her. She glanced nervously back over to her family. Lilly and Winnie were still completely oblivious to Leah's presence, but the look on Liam's face send shivers down her spine. He wasn't at all trying to hide his obvious pleasure in the fact that he and his father were most likely going to regain custody of Leah. Then they'd probably beat the crap out of her. Or give her to Matthew. Leah's eyes dulled slightly with an angered emotion. It was hopeless, wasn't it? Leah sighed heavily.

(Ok, got it... I'm not really familiar with the process, so if you know, you might have to help me out a bit. I know they will have to go to court and stuff.... And its ok, I know that you like this topic alot. So do I.)

Eric plainly recognized the look on Liam's face. Smirking, and rather haughty, he seemed to be wallowing deeply in spite and revenge, an unpleasent, sour mixture when you put them together. Eric bumped Leah's shoulder gently with his, as he could see her hope was quickly draining, and he needed her to be strong, even if it was just for him. He couldn't handle seeing her taken away, back to that cruel family, not again, not now.
Anything would be better than that, he would give himself up to Mike, as long as she could stay somewhere safe. Mrs.Quinn turned to them, and smiled reasuringly, before nodding. "We'll meet the social worker in the office, in a little while."

[ all right, I'm not sure either. It can be a public hearing, I believe, or private. Private meaning Mike, Mrs. Quinn, and Eric go in for one session by themselves, then Leah's family, Leah, and Mrs. Quinn go in for one session by themselves. Or public being Eric, Leah, and Mrs. Quinn together going into court against two 'teams': Leah's family and Mike. you choose. ]

Leah finally managed to tear her eyes away from Liam's. With horror, she recognized Matthew's lazy figure sitting on the windowsill, doing nothing. He was just sitting there, staring at her and Eric with malice. Leah accidentally let out a whimper, twining her fingers even more with Eric's. The tension in the air was so thick she swore she could've cut it with a knife. When Mrs. Quinn said they had 'a little while,' she immediately wanted to ask exactly how long a 'little while' could be classified as. Was it ten minutes? Twenty? Half an hour, even? But Leah held her tongue and led Eric away from both Mike, Matthew, and her family, resting leisurely by a window in the far left corner of the room. "What am I going to do? My dad brought the whole dang family here. And even Matthew's here. This is hopeless, Eric! I may as well accept defeat now, before the battle gets bloody."

Walking towards a line of chairs in the corner, Eric felt Leah's hand tighten with his, and anxiously glance up, not knowing what else could be wrong. Liam was watching the pair with a dead gaze, holding malice and anger.
Pushing away the feeling that this was not going to go as they had hoped, Eric gently had Leah sit in one of the chairs, stooping down next to her, Mrs.Quinn on her other side. She seemed to be falling apart. Eric didn't dare look at Mike. He was a threat, yes, but he was more concerned for the wellbeing of Leah, than of himself. It was to early to tell what was going to happen anyway, so they would all need to hope and pray that whatever was coming next, wouldn't be from the devil himself.

Leah kept her eyes off of her family the entire time as Eric took her to their seats and sat down. She crossed her legs nervously. Matthew was a few chairs in front of them, her family on the complete opposite side of the room. Leah rested her head nervously on Eric's shoulder. She was confused, needing reassurance, which she knew she couldn't get, no matter how many times Eric said that they'd be okay. The odds were looking very bad. "We'll be okay, right?" Leah asked quietly, looking over at her family once more before staring at the empty chairs in front of her to take her mind away from the family.

(Do you want to play the social worker, or me, or both of us? I'm thinking it should be private hearing, because the two arent related at all and its not like they have been together a really long time...)

Eric nodded, and felt her hand on his shoulder. Mrs.Quinn had her legs crossed, and was tapping her fingers, looking concerned and agitated. Not looking at either Leah's family, or his own entourage, aka one sullen faced looking stepfather, he straightened when he saw the secretary rise and start to walk over to them.

[ eh, idk what i'd do as the social worker.... and yeah, that works. ^^ ]

Leah frowned and raised her head when the worker walked over to them. Her heart had sunk so much she felt like it was in her stomach. She took in a deep, centering breath and waited to hear the gameplan. She hoped it wouldn't be a public hearing. She couldn't stand to have Eric in there with her parents and all the argueing that would inevitably take place. Leah bit her lip nervously and held her breath without knowing that she was.

(... I'll just..try my best,)

The secretary neared the threesome, wearing pointed heels and a pencil skirt. She looked prim and proper, and stood tall, gazing at Eric and Leah with uncanny unwavering, though she did take in thier multiple bruises.
"They will see you now, come with me." She said, gesturing to only the teens, and letting Mrs.Quinn stay behind. They would have to ask them questions, and she had them follow her to a small, white room with a desk at one end. Sitting behind the desk, was another woman, with her hair in a bun, glasses perched atop her nose, and looking at them with eyes that made Eric shudder slightly.

Leah felt suddenly as if the whole world was over. She kept her fingers intertwined with Eric's, afraid if she let go that she would fall into a black abyss. She stared at the woman and nodded subtly. She had to admit, she was slightly intimidated by these women. They seemed very serious about their jobs, not neccessarily caring about where kids went, but simply solving cases and getting them over with. And, more importantly, getting paid. Leah wouldn't have been surprised if her parents had bribed these people, though she guessed that they wouldn't accept bribes.

"Sit down," The woman gestured to two plastic chairs in front of her desk. Eric figured she had to give them a breif runthrough, maybe ask them some questions, though he wasn't sure why they were in here together. He led Leah over to the chairs, and sat them down on them, staring back at the woman with his own dead stare.
"My name is Lisa," She started, giving them both curt nod. "We have gotten a few calls about both of you, so have decided to investigate further into each of your cases. What we found, isn't for me to share with you yet."

Leah sat down nervously, smiling. She wanted to say hello, but with this woman, it appeared completely out-of-place. She wanted to know exactly what kind of crap her parents had told them, but she didn't feel like speaking out of turn. Instead, she just nodded, pretended not to be curious and to completely understand. Leah, surprisingly, found it easier to keep her cool. She was still nervous, but she felt like she could deal with the nervousness now. Especially since she had Eric with her.
