Kulukath wasn't busy. In fact, he was extremely bored. He was flipping his long, double-edged sword around in his hand, occasionally cutting his fingers, but the wounds healed instantly due his demon blood. He, unlike his father, was living. He had flesh and blood and a heart that beat steadily. Thinking of his father brought back terrible memories of his mother's horrible treatment, and his half-sister that had been brutally murdered by the King of Demons, Shadowhaph. Many times Kulukath had tried to kill Shadowhaph, but all had ended in failure, but each attack had been scarily close, that Shadowhaph's security had increased tenfold since Kulukath's first attack.
His blue eyes lazily wandered around the mountainous landscape around him, just wanting to be left alone. Just in this week alone, six assassins had come to kill him, only one escaping, but barely. A thick blood trail had followed the assassin's path, but with the amount of blood he was losing, Kulukath knew the assassin would never make it back to his home. Smirking slightly, Kulukath sheathed his sword only to hear a creak in the forest off to his right. He hissed angrily and shot the underbrush an angry look, his rough hand on the hilt of his use-worn sword hilt.

The clinking of several gold coins was the only sound that was heard in the dark room. A hooded figure held out a slender hand, closing her fingers around the currency, then lightly dropping them into her satchel. The deep shadows concealed the figure, and with an almost unseen nod, it stepped away to wence it came from.

Grumbling quietly to herself, Castien flipped her sword up into the air, watching as the blade flashed in the sunlight, before starting to plummet downwards. Catching it skilfully in her hand, she smiled as the worn handle fit perfectly into her grip. Sheathing the sword into its scabbord, her choppy blonde hair blew wildly around her face, her dark chocolate eyes bright and searching.
Her leather gloved hand loosly held the reins of a pure white steed, that walked behind her submissivly, his hooves landing softly on the ground. His head bobbed with each step, and he whickered quietly, nibbling her hair. Turning quickly, Castien placed a finger on the horses muzzle, and he stopped abruptly, eying her with curiosity. "It may look like straw, but it isn't!" Castien quickly chided, and the horse nickered softly to her. Rolling her eyes, she continued tromping down the worn trail, before her boots stepped in something sticky. Looking down, she lifted a foot, eying the ground beneith it.
It was covered with a sticky red liquid, something that Castien was quite familiar with. Looping the reins around the branch of a tree, she followed the trail untill she found the body of a man, dead.
Sighing, the elf raised her head, then quickly made her way back to her horse. Knowing her prey was in the area, her sharp eyes scanned the trees around her, and she pulled out her sword.

Kulukath unfurled his one, ebony wing and stared around at the forest, his eyes searching and seeing more than the normal human would. His nostrils picked up a familiar scent: an elf. He'd fought them before, and knew from experience they were formidable fighters, but there was yet to be one that could defeat him in battle. Kulukath was tempted for half a second to shift into an animal, but he wanted to see this elf, possibly test its abilities.
He thought it humorous he was just thinking how he wanted to be alone, and was now ready and eager for battle. It was stupid, he knew, so he transformed into a horned owl, the only difference being he only had one wing. And that was a disadvantage to him. He couldn't fly in his humanoid or animal form, and no matter what animal he transformed into, he always had only one wing, even if that animal was a dog. Being an owl with one wing would be less suspicious, though. It would rouse the thought that maybe he'd been caught by some sort of prey, wolf maybe, and had his wing torn off. But the cut was clean, as if he had been born wingless.
Kulukath curse himself for being a mix-breed, though his mixed-blood scent was very subtle (which he got from his mother's side. Shape-shifters rarely had scents, but demons did) and hard to distinguish when he was in animal form. He let out an innocent hoot and began hopping around in his owl form, hopelessly fanning out his wing trying to keep himself balanced.

A slight shifting of leaves, an almost soundless change, snapped Castien's attention to the spot. The great white horse behind her, merley swished his long tail, lowering his head to the ground to graze. He didn't seem all to concerned, but that didn't make the elf alter her mindset. Narrowing her eyes, she lowered her head, concentrating. The funny thing was, was that she couldn't smell him. Her senses, her pure elven senses should have alerted her of danger! And though she knew it was here, knew that it was present, she wasn't able to distinguish what it was. She had not been informed what she was looking for, but she would know when she saw it. Scoffing at the information that had been given her, her head snapped around as she heard something behind her.
Hard, dark eyes took in the form of a large bird, and she cocked her head to the side, completley focused. Her senses were fineley tuned, and though not looking behind her, with her smelling and hearing, could picture what it looked like anyway. Scanning the bird, she saw that it was an owl. But it was missing a wing. Instead of a gnarled, twisted section where the wing would have been torn, or snapped off, it looked like it had never been there in the first place.
Her demenor stiffened, and she raised the blade to her eye level, holding it firm and steady.

Kulukath knew he'd be able to transform back into his humanoid form quickly enough to dodge the perilous blade she was now holding, if it came to that. But for now, he'd play it safe. He wanted to be left alone, and this cursed elf came along and ruined his break off. Hooting again, Kulukath decided if she was suspicious of him, he'd lead her into a trap. He hopped off to the left, quicker than a normal owl would've been able to accomplish, right where a cliff was. Kulukath already had a plan worked out in his mind, and he hooted again, trying to egg her on, as if he could actually speak to her and she could actually hear what he was saying.
Of course, Kulukath knew that owls didn't really talk. He rolled his eyes and ruffled his feathers as he perched himself on the very edge of the cliff, giving him just enough room to transform if he needed to. While he was out of her line of sight, he used his own magical abilities to morph his body and make it look as though the wing had been there, just taken off. Hopefully this would confuse her into thinking she was seeing things, but it was taking a great deal of effort on his part to keep the right wing looking mangled. He knew he wouldn't be able to hold it forever, so he cleared his mind and tried to relax, using as little energy as possible.

Castien watched the owl suspiciously, and narrowed her eyes as he hopped cheerfully away, hooting and calling as he did so. His speed was faster than a normal owl, and something in Castien's gut told her that this...thing, wasn't what it seemed to be. Cautiously, she followed, but not without a hesitance that made her yern to back up and wait for the thing to come back to her.
As she followed, she pushed a few branches aside, spotting the owl, who was perched precarously on a cliffs edge. She didn't step out of the trees, and kept her sword upright, deadly straight and ready to hurl it at the creature. Suddenly, something about the owl changed, making it look like his wing had been ripped off. Shaking her head slightly, she didn't dare take her eyes away from the creature, but blinked as she tried to clear her vision.

Kulukath finally decided that he didn't want to play around anymore. He transformed into his humanoid form, the deformed side of his body growing into a muscular arm, the chest and legsfollowing that. Kulukath grinned at her and rested his hand gently on the hilt of his sword. "I see you've come to kill me, yes?" Kulukath was going to tease her. From the elves he had known, they hated being teased, but he never knew, this one may be different.
He shrugged, muscular chest rippling. "You know, millions of assassins have come to kill me, but none of them have succeeded." He glared at the elf, a look on his face that screamed 'boredum.' He groaned slightly, "And I was hoping that I'd be able to take a day off, but no. You had to come and ruin everything, didn't you?" Actually getting angry this time, Kulukath removed a small dagger from his right side and chucked it at her forehead, then clenched his fists angrily. He usually could keep his cool extremely well, but being bothered for like the tenth time this week was enough, and his patience had worn thin.

"Ah!" Castien smiled, cocking her head to the side cheerfully. "I was wondering about you!" Her choppy blonde hair whipped around her head, the wind strong and beating over the cliff face. At this time, she didn't seem like much of a threat, and raised an eyebrow at his transformation.
"Nice going." She congradulated, and shrugged, a bemused expression on her fine features. "Perhaps. That was what I was paid to do," She patted her satchel. "But I dont know if I want to..." Grinning, she laughed as he groaned aloud, obviously tired of all the beginner assasins that had come to kill him.
Her sharp eyes imedietly picked up on the almost incoherent twitch of his fingers, and she readied herself for an attack. Sure enough, his hand swiftly moved to his waist, where he plucked a small, sharp dagger from his belt, hurling it at her head. If she hadn't seen it coming, she would have been dead, but she dodged to the side, and the knife stuck into a tree trunk near her head. Pulling it out, she chucked it back at him.
"Have another go?"

Kulukath smirked at her comment, and caught the blade in his hand, ignoring the cut it created, as he sheathed the dagger again. The wound on his hand healed almost instantly, and he rolled his eyes and stepped forward from the cliff. "I find it rather repulsive," he said, smirking again. "That you would be swayed by something so little as money to go and kill people. Is a thousand dollars worth the life of another?" Then he chuckled.
"I shouldn't be speaking, though, seeing as I kill mercilessly almost constantly," Kulukath grimaced. "But at least I'm not paid to kill. I do it to save myself from the idiots who think they can defeat me." He snorted. "I doubt you could do any better."
Kulukath fanned his one, ebony wing for a moment, then folded it once again and continued in a drawling voice, not really caring much anymore whether she was going to attack or not. He would be ready for it, either way, having living his life almost always on the run and killing people senselessly, really. "If you're not going to do what you came here for, leave now, before I really decide to kill you."

Castien raised an eyebrow, cocking her head. "Who said I always kill them?" She asked, giving him a sweet smile, but keeping her sword pointed at him. She stepped closer, narrowing her eyes. "Why do they want you dead? They refused to tell me about you. And I want to know..." Trailing off, Castien's eyes softened, if only a tiny bit.
"Perhaps you do want to kill me. And I understand why you would. If I were in you're position, I would have already commited the deed." Castien stated evenly. She appeared to be completley calm, and very curious, though she was ready to fight in an instant.
"So tell me," She stepped closer, eying him with curiousity, warriness, and a mix of hesitance. "I do hope you're story is interesting. I dont always like to kill you know."

Kulukath had a sharp tongue, and he wasn't going to be nice about it, "So you're trying to tell me you're untrustworthy and can't finish what you started?" Kulukath shrugged and rolled his eyes. "Ah, all the same, it's not up to me whether you can kill or not."
Kulukath stretched for a moment, then shrugged. "It's my mother and father..." Kulukath laughed for a moment, short, but full-fledged. "It's hard to believe that you've never heard of them, my father is quite infamous, as is my mother. And my deceased half-sister."
Kulukath talked about it as if nothing had ever happened, and he began to tell the story, "Well, you see, my mother was a shapeshifter and my father a demon. Of course, an intimate relationship between the two races is strictly forbidden by each of the races' leaders. My mother and father, of course, fell in love, and me? I'm the result. My mother was forced to bear the demon king's daughter. Shadowhaph was the demon king...After my half-sister was born, and Shadowhaph killed her, then burnt my mother. My father was killed before my mum died." Kulukath shrugged.
"You know, I have better places to be." He walked past her, slapped her wrist with his hand, the one holding her sword, and shoved past her, making sure to keep his ears up in case she tried anything stupid. Her smug look was rather annoying.

Castien sighed. "I dont necicarraly like my job you know... But not many trust a she-elf with a males name. So, I dont have many choices." She let her hand holding the sword lower a tiny bit, but she narrowed her eyes as he started the story.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

After he had finished, Castien raised an eyebrow, her hair blowing around her face softly, highlighting her deep chocolate eyes. "I wasn't expecting for you to tell me. In fact, I was expecting nothing but you, trying to kill me." She shrugged, lowering her head, but keeping her eyes trained sharply on him. He spoke, then brushed past her, pushing her off to the side and making her stumble slightly.
As he started to make his way away from her, she silently pursued, placing the tip of her sword on the back of his neck. She knew the feeling, the feeling of the cold metal edge pressing into her flesh, and it wasn't pleasant.
"Who there brother. I dont think you're going anywhere."

Kulukath frowned as he felt the tip of the sword on the back of his neck. He nearly turned around to face her and smack that sword right out of her hand (with his strength, he knew it would be an easy feat) but decided against it.
"So," he commented casually, "You've decided to do your job after all?" Kulukath chuckled, and in one small and quick movement, took a single step forward and then turn around. He flicked the small dagger from its sheath, holding it at the ready. It was the fastest thing he could unsheath. "I'd like to see you try." Kulukath grinned maliciously. "Ready to go, princess?"

Cocking her head, Castien chewed the inside of her cheek, stepping back as he turned around, unsheathing the deadly dagger. She didn't speak, and wondered if this was worth doing, if this was something she should carry out, or not. Easily shifting her weight, she let a sly grin cross her face.
"Have you ever fought with a girl before?" She asked, straightening. Holding her sword steady, she lunged at him.

Kulukath frowned and stared at her, flipping his dagger back into its sheath and grabbing his full-fledged sword. "Girl or not, you're nothing in comparison to who and what I've fought before." Kulukath side-stepped expertly, swinging around on his heel until he made a complete turn-around and placed the tip of his sword on the back of her neck.
"You really could brush up on your skills, you know? I thought elves were better..." Kulukath frowned. "Ah, this won't last very long, will it, my dear?" Kulukath chuckled rather grimly.

Castien breathed a heavy sigh, feeling that terrible feeling of the cold metal on her neck. She easily twisted, spinning out of harms way, before leaping into the air, snapping out her legs powerfully, and delivering a sound side kick to his chest. Hoping it would help in some way, she landed gracefully on her feet, holding her sword above her head, as he had a perfect chance for a downstroke. Stepping back, she warrily circled him like a tiger, debating when to pounce on the enemy. Her hair fell into her face, and her chocolate eyes blazed feircly.
"Lets play."

Kulukath coughed slightly when he felt her foot against his chest, the dirt and blood mixed on the bottom of her shoe now smeared all over his muscular chest. He wiped it off and jump-kicked to his feet, doing a backflip out of her range of hit. Kulukath grimaced and shapeshifted into a boa constrictor, his sword ending up in his tail, as he slithered towards her quickly, wrapping himself around her legs and crawling up from there (lol creepy), until he was wrapped around her waist, tongue slithering out evilly. He hissed ad flicked his tongue against her cheek, his sword in his tail, flicking it back and forth restlessly. "You wanted to play, princesssss?" He teased, squeezing himself tighter around him.

Castian stumbled backwards, loosing her balance as something tightened around her legs, crawling upwards. Glancing down, she then realized what she was dealing with, and felt the snake tighten around her waist, squeezing the air out of her. His tounge on her cheek made her shiver in discust, and then, while she still had breath left, she dropped to the ground, rolling over and ontop of the snake, trying to squish him, though she wasn't that heavy. Grabbing the snake right under its head, she squeezed with her fingers, trying to cut off its air supply, all the while trying to squirm out of his grip.

Kulukath hissed angrily as her hand clamped around his air pipe, and he decided the only way to make her let go was to squeeze tighter, so he did just that. Though in squeezing tighter he was forced to drop his sword from his tail. But this was one of the advantages to fighting when you were a shapeshifter: you could change into a lmost anything (though he'd been trying to be a dragon for years, he hadn't yet perfected it). He hissed again, but his tongue got stuck between his fangs and he wriggled madly, squeezing tighter then releasing a bit, trying to get her hand off, then squeezing again, then loosening up, shaking his head madly.

Castian couldn't help but try to gasp for air, opening her mouth as the snake squeezed itself tighter around her. She figured she must look like a dying fish, but was determined to show this male she could put up a fair fight, living up to her male name. Drawing back a fist, she pushed the snakes head down onto the ground, then solidly hit it in the face, her eyes narrowed and hard, glittering in anger.
The position of the snake, wrapped tightly around her torso, squeezing the life out of her, made her utter a small sound, before her body fell limp, her head lolling to one side, lips slightly parted, face pale.

(SHE IS NOT DEAD! I REPEAT, NOT DEAD! But, I wouldn't mind if he thought she was. xD)

When he felt her go limp, Kulukath hissed angrily and felt blood in his mouth as he unwrapped himself from around her, turning back into his humanoid form and wiping the blood form his mouth. He grimaced and took his sword up from the ground and sheathed it, kicking her in the side, trying to make sure she was dead. Kulukath brushed himself off and turned around to leave, walking with a quick pace, his one wing unfurled and guarding him with a shielding black aura, in case she wasn't dead, but she seemed dead enough to him. Shrugging, he fingered the horns on his head and tossled his hair, happy with yet another kill.
That just meant he'd have to find a new place to stay.

Castian was finally able to breath, and after feeling him kick her roughly to the side, she silently took in many deep breaths, untill she could see, and think stright. Opening her eyes a slit, she saw that he had started to make his way out of the clearing. With a new sense of determination, she jumped to her feet, silently fading into the trees. She could hear him making his way throught the forest, and she silently slipped around him, stalking in a giant circle, knowing soon, there paths would meet.
And she was ready, to take, him, down.

Kulukath stopped for a moment, feeling something strangely out of place. Kulukath frowned and shifted into a black widow, crawling faster and faster, grinning in his spider form. If she was still around here, how would she ever see him? And even if she did, if he bit her first, she was pretty much a goner. But the only thing wrong with being a spider is the fact that she could easily step on him. The only thing different was that he couldn't really die, but he would at the same time. He would be forced into hell, and become a full-fledged demon. He'd lose the shapeshifter blood in him. And he may only become a ghost, seeing as he'd tried to Shadowhaph so many times. The demon king probably wouldn't take lightly to the fact he himself had been killed and was now knocking on his doors.

Standing silently, standing so still, Castian's hearing was focused, listening for the slightest of sounds. Soon, she heard a faint scuttling through the underbrush, something that no human, or anything else, could detect. It grew louder, and Castian stepped back, watching the underbrush.
Something small and black scuttled out, and the elf stepped back, watching as a large black spider made its way towards her, and she narrowed her eyes. A small black wing was on its back. She knew this... thing.
