(sorry it's soooo long i was in a type mood-)

The new trainer took up room with the horses. He had new ideas and didn't agrea with half of my methads. Mr. Archer still kept me as his head trainer, it had been like that since he beacem owner of River Bend Stud's. We where very good friends and he trusted in my disicions but this was something he couldn't lie about or agrea with. The mare was hurt and may never race agian. Something told me not to just pass her by at the auction huse in kendlen at Kenutcky Horse park. She had exseptanal blood lines I though she was well bred and well built for her young age. Almost filled out like a four-year-old but sleek and strong. The only thing wrong about her was the one flaw, a fractured cannon bone. It was a common injury in horse racing not to common but one of the most happning you would see. She seemed to be fighting it though, or the look in her eyes said everything. She was fighting so she would not be forgotten or left beahind. Soem might have baought her for a brood mare but I had a feeling in my gut she would recover and make a come back. I had seen her fall at Churchill that season. It had been a sloppy track condition and a horse bumped into her when coming out of the gate in her first race. Now I had purchased her and we where both standing in the training barn at River Bend Stud's farm. That assistent trainer of mine kept talking about what a wasit of time she would be but I would not here of it. Conpletly confadent for some reason I and Sammy got her in a large stall at the end of the training barn where the pony horse Seb had been kept but now the filly needed it. I thought this horse could do me some good and get my mind off of thinking my job was close to being taken from me, but also she was there beacuse I beleved she would be fine. A vet check up would be great, X-rays and a vet's critacle eye was needed. I had worked wiht injured horses but none with this bad of an injury. Going to my office I picked up the chat of phone numbers and names of local vets. We had a privet vet but that was for Mr. Archers horses and he was not here to give me permison to ask to use his. Using the first number I waited the other end was still ringing.

[Spritz]

The blonde vet leaned over her desk, filling out a form. The phone rang noisily, and someone answered it promptly. "Nikki? Your turn, a fractured cannon bone!" I sighed, and got up, taking the address from her. I quickly got into the vet truck and drove to the destination that was written on the slip.

Getting up I walked out of the office and back to the training barn where the vet would meet us. Walking down the end of the barn isle I spotted Sammy and he left so he could go get his other jobs done while I stayed with the filly. She was a light flea bitten gray and smoke almost black main and tail. With all her papers and license she was qualifed to race, once she was healthy agian that is. Going into the stall I went to stand by her and strock her neck. I could remember helping with a colt when I had been a groom, he had a pulled tendon. Patting her shoulder I spoke to her softly she looked almost asleep.

[Spritz]

I checked the address, then realized where I was. The home of the famous River Bend Studs. I opened the truck door, and hopped out, blonde curls bouncing slightly. Dressed in sensible jeans and a black blouse, I walked to who I thought was the one who had called. "Hello? I am here to see the mare?"
I smiled slightly, eyes twinkling.

I could here a truck coming down the rode and lefdt the stall aalked into the barn sle. A woman in jeans and a black blouse made her way toured me. "Yes can I help you?" She must have been the vet "Are you the vet?" I asked walking over to her. I could here the filly moving a bit in her stall-

[Spritz]

"Yes." I stick my hand out. "I am Doctor Anderson, Angela. Where is the mare? I heard it was a fractured cannonbone?" My eyes dart from his face to the mare in the stall.

I smile and shake her hand "Yes well thats her back there her name is Grand Solo." I said "She hurt herself at Churchill." I said "After she got bumped coming out of the gate." I said. "My name is Ronny Homes by the way." I said walking over to the fillys stall.

[Spritz]

"Nice meeting you." I open the stall door, and stroke the mare softly. "Is it alright if I give her an overall heath exam? She has to pass if she wants to race, anyhow."

[Man O' War Lover]

"Yes thats what I was hoping you could do." I said leaning agianst the stall door watching them.

[Spritz]

(Im gonna skip a bit)
I quickly run my hand over her legs, checking the bones and structure. When I was finished, I step back, after lisning to her heartbeat and checking her for other multiple diseases. "She seemes perfectly fine to me, exept that cannon bone."

[Man O' War Lover]

"So what needs to beone for it?" I asked "Like how long should she rest, I don't know how bad it is and I don't know how long I should wait before putting the slightess presure on her." I finished-

[Spritz]

"Im going to wrap it, and with time, it should heal just fine. It isnt real bad, only a slight fracture. I have a good feeling it will heal with time. Dont worry, I can keep checking on her to see the progress, and let you know when she could be worked. She's a real nice mare." I step back, admiring the animal.

[Man O' War Lover]

"Yeah I bought her at Kendlen." I exsplane. "I thought if I got her fixed up well and a vet could help maybe she could race agian or just retire to brood mare she's got nice blood lines." I said-

[Spritz]

I nod. "She is a nice mare. Built for speed, just look at her body type. If the fracture heals up alright, there is nothing that can keep her from racing."

[Man O' War Lover]

I smile at the filly "The reaosn why I had you check her wa sbeacuse she does not belong to Mr. Archer but to me, I was intrested in claiming her but Mr. Archer didn't want to spend money on her though." Pausing I watched the filly look at her for a moment sniffing at her hands. "But uh I sort of shruged it off and then she broke down in the middle of the track. She was sold the next day to me." I said "I just don't understand why they sold her? Anyway I guess it's not to seriuse then."

[Spritz]

I shake my head, exiting the stall. "No, I dont think so. By the way she is walking on it, it seems to already be healing on its own. You are quite lucky, and so is she. I'm going to get a splint, just to keep her from moving it to much."

[Man O' War Lover]

I smile a little "Thanks e and Sammy will keep a good eye on her." I said starting to walk with her-

I smile, and open the tailgate of the pickup truck, jumping nimbly inside, and carrying out a large toolbox. I hop down, and slam the gate behind me, heading back into the barn.

I walk back into the barn with her and ask "How long have you worked as a vet?" I didn't know exsactly why I asked this but it slippe dout in some ways-

[Spritz]

I enter the stall again, and kneel down by the mare. "Only a few years. I have been working here for only a few months, so I am still a newbie around here. People usually dont like me treating thier animals, seeing as I am young to the practice. But what about hours upon hours of teaching and studing?" I shake my head, pulling out a splint. "Sometimes I get remorseful at the old farmers who dont let me treat thier animals."

I watch her put the cast on as she talks "I can understand that, It took four years for me to even become a assitant trainer here, then it took me five years to get head trainer." I said, "Some poeple are just being safe though, but still you need money to pay bills seems that others have hired you ofcourse. A vet told me to call you if I ever needed an outsid vet so I did. You seem pretty good to me." I said-

[Spritz]

I stop, and look at him. "Thank you." I say sincerly, before finishing the splint and closing my vet box, standing and petting the mare softly. "I wish you the best of luck with her, I'm sure she'll do great. Just give me a call if you need me again. I can come out whenever." I flipped him my buisness card.

Taking the card from her I say "Sure I will call if I run into any problems and let you know how she's coming." I said with a small smile. "Would you like a look around though?" I asked

[Spritz]

"Why not. There's nothing else to do, back at the clinic." I nod once, blonde hair shining in the sunlight. "This is quite a place, I have heard. Lots of top stallions. Am I correct?"

I smile a litte, we got that a lot "Yes we have some of the best leadin sires of North America." I said "There's Party Shoes, Hummingbird Knight, Magic Man, then tewleve others like Robin, Classic Disguise, Common Era, Stop The Music, I could name the raset but the first three I mentioned are the finest of them all." I said smiling "I trained them all, there good horses, Magic Man is badly tempered and Party Shoes just wants to be left alone and Hummingbird Knight is the curiuse one, hes quite the ham." I say-
