Diona's footsteps were light and didn't make a single sound on the leafy ground of the forest floor. Quietly, her companion, Gilraen, followed, bow strung. Diona nodded with hushed approval as the younger girl was about to make herself independent for the rest of her immortal lifetime. Diona signalled Gilraen with two fingers to continue forward without her. Hesitantly, Gilraen nodded and moved forward, walking towards the giant beast. The beast they were hunting was called a Draconian. They were half human, half dragon, and they were evil, evil creatures. Slaying one was an automatic way into elfdom, and being independent from all other elves. Gilraen stalked closer to the Draconian, its wings flapping unknowingly. Gilraen pulled the bowstring back and shot one wary glance at Diona, who waved her hands as if pushing her forward, in an encouraging motion. Back against the tree, Gilraen quickly enchanted the arrow with a deadly poison that was known to kill instantly, as long as it hit the bloodstream. Her shot would have to be absolutely perfect, and Gilraen knew it. She aimed for the underarm of the Draconian, where scales were lacking, and the viens were easily punctured. With a fierce war-cry, Gilraen released the arrow, and it zoomed towards the Draconian, who looked up in surprise. But it was already too late. As the arrow made its mark, the Draconian thrashed wildly for a few more seconds before falling over on its side. Gilraen jumped up -- much higher than any human would've been able to -- and let out a loud victory cry that echoed throughout the forest.
"Well done," Diona's silk-smooth voice commented. "You've earned your freedom into the elves' society. Welcome." Diona bowed with an incline of her head and Gilraen inclined her head in return, beaming all the while. She wondered if there was anybody else in this forest she could chance upon to share her victory with...

I hunch down, arrow ready and poised on the bow string. The beast in front of me snarled, looking through the brush, trying to spot me. In one swift motion I drew back and aimed at its chest. Then it saw me. It lunged, fangs dripping with venom and eyes red with anger. I quickly rolled out of the way, and readusted for the kill. I let the arrow fly, and it sank neatly into the creatures heart. Blood gushed out of the wound and I shot it once more, in the head so it wouldnt suffer. I couldnt tell what the beast was, some weird combination of a snake and a... I couldnt tell.
It lay limp on the leaves, an arrow sticking out of its groutesk head. I felt something within my chest and I turned away from the thing. I hated killing, but it had to be done. Little by little I was getting used to it. I plucked the feathered arrows out if the beast, and wipe the bright red blood on the grass.
Quivering the arrows, I heard something.
I .With the speed of a deer, I reached a clearing with a dead Draconion in the middle. I quickly drew another arrow and looked around for the killer. "Who is there! Show yourself!" I say, peering into the woods.

Gilraen ceased her celebratory cheers and turned her had to see another elf. She glared for a moment before looking to Diona, who just shrugged and went to picking berries and herbs. Diona was like that sometimes. As an experienced healer, she would decontaminate the body of the Draconian and together, Gilraen adn Diona would take it back to their 'tribe.' Gilraen entered the glade once more and looked over the male elf, who had his bow strung. Out of self defense and just in case, Gilraen placed her hand on her oak bow and got ready to fire back at the elf if he tried to shoot at her.
"I am here..." Gilraen said, stepping silently into his complete view. She cocked an eyebrow and searched the male's eyes, wondering what caused him to be so defensive towards a Draconian, of all creatures. Pulling a strand of starlight-blonde hair behind her ear, Gilraen continued to stare at him until Diona joined her side, then shook her head in disapproval, and returned to the Draconian's body and started putting herbs on the wounds to disinfect them.
"What do you want?" Gilraen asked, becoming more bold and defensive towards the kill she'd made. The kill that had let her into her own independence. Now Diona wouldn't be there to back her up if she needed it, so Gilraen's usually soft and promising posture became more rigid, waiting for the elf's reply.

I step back and look over the female elf, skeptical. "Alright. I'm not going to take your beast or anything. I just heard a noise, you no doubt." I shrugged and lowered my bow. My arrow was still notched though, in case this girl wanted to kill me. I look at the Women. They were beautiful, I had to admit. The huge trees loomed overhead, casting weird shadows on the ground, concealing rocks and crevises in darkness. There could be another beast hiding. I grew wary, eyeing the shadows suspiciously. My long blonde hair fell into my sky blue eyes, and I brush it away. I stand still, only my bare chest moving with each soft breath I took. I hear something, a growl perhaps.Quickly I raise my bow, waiting for whatever it was to show itself.

"Gilraen Séregon," Gilraen introduced herself, lowering her hand from her bow momentarily. Diona looked up and said curtly,
"Diona," before returning to her work. Diona's mind wandered here and there, not really paying much attention to her companion and the new male elf. Gilraen couldn't help but wonder why the male chose to go without a shirt, for most of the males in her congregation deep within the woods were fully garbed. Shrugging it off, Gilraen heard something in the woods and turned around with lithe movements. She notched an arrow on her bow and raised it, pointing in the direction of the noise, but not shooting. Instead, Gilraen silently made her way towards the noise, searching in the darkness. Once she was only a few feet from it, she released the arrow, and it whizzed into the darkness, but there was no sound after that. Lowering her bow, Gilraen decided she'd investigate further. She placed the bow over her back and hopped onto the nearest tree, climbing nimbly. She reached the branches at the top and looked down, still not being able to see much in the darkness.
Diona ignored the two of them completely, rather indifferent towards the new elf. She watched as Gilraen climbed the tree, then shrugged it off and continued to work, occasionally casting small spells with quiet words over the Draconian's body and it would glow faintly, then nothing.
Gilraen stayed perched on the branch, looking down into the darkness of the forest below her.

I jump onto the boulder, and peer into the darkness, seeing a slight shadow. I drew my bow and jumped down into the darkness. Nothing happened. My eyes adjusted to the dark, and I could make out something in the corner, huddling by the wall. It was a fawn. I quickly stepped forward, putting my bow away, and picked up the little fawn. Its huge brown eyes looked at me. It must have fallen and was not able to get back up. I place in gently on the ledge above me, then hoist myself up,next to the fawn. I pull te tiny thing onto my lap, looking it over for broken bones or sprains. I found that its left hind legs was twisted unaturally, but not broken. Silently, I calm the little one and put my hand over its eye. I think set the leg quickly. The little fawn squeeled, but the leg was now in place. It would have to heal though. I stand up with the fawn in my arms.

Gilraen nodded, noting that the elf had still not introduced himself. Not taking it personally, Gilraen jumped down from the tree and landed nimbly, without even the slightest loss of balance. She made her way over to Diona and the Draconian, and placed a hand on Diona's shoulder and said in a low vioce,
"Maybe we should get going," Gilraen shot a quick glance at the other elf, thinking about his looks momentarily, then shook her head. Her eyes hadn't been trained to detect attractiveness, she told herself, but to detect prey. Shaking her head, she gave a brief smile to the other elf and turned back to Diona.
"We're not ready to leave yet, the Draconian has not yet been completely decontaminated. Why don't you go converse with the other elf?" Diona winked slightly then turned back to her work.
Gilraen let out a quiet moan of protest, then turned back to the other elf, and instead of walking all the way to him, she sat cross-legged in the middle of the glade. "What was wrong with it?" Gilraen asked, even though she had already witnessed the fawn's crooked legs. She might as well humor him.

"Sorry, I am Caldrion." I say, and gesture for her to pet the fawn. "Something with the tendons, no doubt. I think I have seen this before." I say, and softly pet the fawns head. I look at the elf, and note how pretty she was. I start to blush and turn my head, my hair falling in my eyes. The fawn relexes in my arms, not trying to get away at all. I had a gift with animals, or at least that was what my mother had said. My mother. Tears fill my eyes as I thought of her. I quickly wipe them away before Gilraen saw them. I thought about something else, this fawn perhaps. I lifted her up, my strong arms carriying her to the clearing. "So what are you doing here?" I ask her. I had been hunting. But not for the tribe. I didnt have a tribe.

Gilraen nodded and touched the fawn's coat for a few minutes before dropping her hand. She nodded at the final introduction of his name and gave a smile. "I'm no healer," Gilraen laughed, "I wouldn't have known what to do." Gilraen noticed his hair fall in his eyes and grinned. "You really should consider getting your hair cut," she jested.
Diona looked at Gilraen and gave another wink, as if encouraging flirting, but Gilraen's gaze hardened at Diona and her friendly demeanor downplayed. Gilraen wondered why the fawn wasn't scared. "You're very talented with animals." Gilraen commented casually. "Usually animals just run from me, seeing as i'm a huntress and all." Gilraen then shrugged.
Gilraen stiffened at his question, although she didn't know why. "I was hunting that Draconian for my entrance into the tribe. Now," she said with a big grin, "I'm officially independent and will be seen as an individual in my tribe." Curious, she inquired, "What tribe are you from?"

I smiled as she gently pet the fawn."I guess its just in my blood. The animal stuff I mean." My hair fell in my face again. "Uhm, probobly..." I say, reaching up a hand and pulling it behind my ear. It fell into my face again. I sighed. "I dont belong to a tribe." I say, and see Diona wink at Gilraon. I raise an eyebrow suspiciously. "I need you to take a look at something-" I say, standing up. "If you dont mind." I was talking about the monster I had killed. I had no idea what it was, and I needed help. "Its something I killed. I dont know what it is. Its not this though" I say, pointing to the creature that Doina was leaning over.

Diona listened to their conversation quietly and minded her own buisiness the rest of the time.
Gilraen laughed as his hair continued to fall in his face. Then she nodded at his request. "All right," then said, "You mean Draconian?" She chuckled slightly. Gilraen got to her feet and wiped her hands off, getting rid of the excess dirt. "There are a lot of creatures in these woods. I may not know what it is." Gilraen said truthfully. "But you can show me and I'll do my best to figure it out. If I can't, maybe Diona can." Gilraen shot a deadly glance at Diona who only chuckled to herself and stood up.
"Well, call me if you need me," Diona replied. "The stupid beast is finally decontaminated and ready to be presented to the tribe." Then Diona turned to Caldrion, "It's odd you say you have no tribe. There is only a handful of elves I've met that don't." Diona eyed him suspiciously then shook her head and turned back to the Draconian, beginning to transfer the beast from here to the tribe by magical means.
Gilraen sighed, "All right, let's go."

Dionas words hit home. Hard. I didnt have a tribe. My tribe died. "Ok then." I motion for Gilraen to follow me, and step through the woods, fawn still in my arms. We reached the monster. The blood had ceased, and the beast was limp. Its fangs stuck out, and its eyes were still open, though dead. I turned away, sickened at the sight. Blood stained grass around him, but whatever the blood touched, died. The grass all around the beast was dead. I walked closer to it, looking in its dead eyes. I turned to Gilraen. Gilraen stepped closer to the beast, crouching on the ground. Once she got a whiff of the smell, she coughed and backed up. She placed a finger in the blood and watched it slowly eat away at the skin and nail on her finger. Gilraen cursed and healed the wound with magic, though the skin and nail that'd already been destroyed did not repair itself. Gilraen looked at the beast and shrugged. "I'm sorry, Caldrion. I have no idea what it is." She eyed her finger again and swore. "I don't think Diona would know either..." Suddenly, Gilraen felt awkward being alone (mostly, besides the fawn) with Caldrion. She dropped her gaze and felt her cheeks flush.
Gilraen then smiled and looked back up at him, "How did you manage to kill it? It looks pretty vicious." Gilraen shuddered at the thought of the beast in its living form.

"Ah-" I say as she touched it. She healed it, and I gently touched her hand to look at it. "It should get better..." I say, and quickly drop her hand. I could smell her hair, and my cheeks flamed. I noticed she was blushing and I scooted away a little. "Aim. Aim and speed" I say. "He almost got me though." I say, remembering the attack. "He is venomos, can you see?" I gestured to the fangs filled with venom. "Dont know what that would do to you, but I dont want to find out." I smiled at her without meaning to. Clearing my throat, I held the fawn closer to me.

Gilraen nearly pulled away from the contact, surprised by it. Once he pulled away she sort of wished he would hold her hand again, if only for a minute. Shaking the thoughts off and becoming increasingly vexed with herself, Gilraen decided to lighten to mood due to his comment, "Maybe if your hair wasn't always in your face you would've been able to avoid it without question." Gilraen watched him shift gears in the conversation and she glanced down at the fangs and nodded absentmindedly. "Yes, but I am rather curious." Gilraen took off a piece of skin that was around her peeling finger (which was now turning a rather disguisting purple-ish blue) and placed it gently on the fang of the creature. She watched in horror as the piece of skin shriveled up and turned black, then withered away to nothing. "That's....." Gilraen didn't finish her sentence. Instead she back up and shook her head, stepping closer to Caldrion without thinking.

I take a step back as the skin turned black. "I am really glad he didnt get me." I say, and look at her. She stepped closer, surprising me. I wanted her to. I wanted to hold her hand again. I blushed, a funny look on my face. Unintentionally, I also stepped closer. My arm brushed against hers lightly. My skin tingled as I felt her. The little fawn looked up at me, its huge brown eyes happy.
(Sorry, I couldnt think of any more!)

Gilraen nearly jumped when she felt his arm brush against hers. "Yeah, I'd be glad, too." She murmured. Gilraen noticed him blush, but pretended not to. Instead, she looked down, and shuffled her feet nervously.
Just at that moment, Diona walked in to break up the little love-fest that was on the verge of happening. "Okay, lovebirds." Diona said, making Gilraen spin around angrily as her face flushed red, giving Diona a deadly stare. Diona shrugged it off. "Let's go, Gilraen. The beast has been transported." Diona looked over Caldrion again and sighed, "You can come, too. Gilraen's house has a spare room you could use."
Again, Gilraen blushed, her face feeling hot. Sighing, Gilraen let the rosy color drain from her face before turning around to face Caldrion. She smiled weakly and said, "It's better than being out here with beasts like those." She offered timidly.

Caladrin-
I see her blush and decide that next time I would hold myself back. My face gets red as Diona talks about us. "Only if youre sure it will be ok-" I say to her offer. I didnt know if I should go or not. "If I went, is there a place for the fawn?" I ask, showing them again the baby in my arms. "I think I should keep her untill her leg is better."

Gilraen nodded and pondered a moment. "Yes, there's room," she said, then felt as if she was pressuring him into doing this. "But if you'd rather not, you don't have to. I don't want to force you to do anything..." Gilraen said, the awkward feeling that she'd felt when they were alone slowly wearing off now that Diona was here.
Diona rolled her eyes, "All right, you two. He obviously wants to stay with you, Gilraen. Come on, let's go before the tribe starts worrying about us." Diona gestured to Caldrion and the fawn, then took Gilraen by the shoulder and they began walking.
Gilraen gestured for Caldrion to come join the two of them while they talked. "It'll be forty-five minutes at most. We'll have plenty of time to discuss things."
"Things, indeed," Diona replied and Gilraen managed to hold back a blush. Why was Diona picking on her so? Was it because Gilraen was now her own individual? That seemed the most logical answer. Sighing, Gilraen let it go and waited for Caldrion to join them.

Caldrion-
I saw them start off, and I guessed they wanted me with them. I ran to catch up, the fawn bouncing against my tan chest. I walk behind them, letting them talk about thier own needs and dreams... I felt funny, awkward maybe. The fawn looked up at me and I smiled. Gilraen seemed a little hesitant. "Um, if you dont want me with, its really ok. I dont want to take up your space of anything." I say, sounding much like what she had said before. I blushed, again. My bangs fell into my eyes and I brushed them away.

Gilraen chuckled slightly, "No, it's all right. You can stay with me for a while. Maybe you can join our tribe if you like it. If not, I'm not very good at pursuading people." Gilraen smiled and noticed him blush, then his hair fell again. "And besides, i need to give you a haircut." She joked and ruffled his hair, feeling awkward at touching him again, even though it was on his head. Gilraen smiled and managed to barely keep back another blush, though her cheeks did turn the faintest of pinks.
Diona looked at the two of them and absentmindedly commented, "You two would make a cute couple."
Gilraen punched her companion on the arm and turned to Caldrion, "I'm sorry about her. She tends to speak her mind." Gilraen grimaced then added, "Unfortunately." Silently, Gilraen took in Diona's comment and wished that it were true.

I laugh, then she reaches out and ruffles my hair. I was suprised, but almost reluctant as her hand fell to her side again. Ugh, my cheeks turned pink. Diona was laughing. "You two would make a cute couple" I hear her say, and hide my face behind the wall of blonde hair. I see Gilraen pinch her on the arm and hiss something. "Speaking your mind isnt always a bad thing-" I say softly, thinking no one would hear. I look around the forest. The huge trees loomed overhead, the sun only breaking through in a few spots.

Gilraen smiled, "Speaking your mind is bad if your name is Diona," Gilraen replied to his comment which she had nearly misheard. Gilraen stepped a bit closer to Caldrion, mainly to escape Diona's daunting company. "Tell me about yourself, Caldrion." Gilraen said, looking up at him and gently yet tentatively pulled his hair from his face. "You really do need a haircut," she muttered, a faint smile touching the corners of her lips. Gilraen then dropped her gaze to the ground and watched her feet as they continued to walk, waiting for the reply to her question. She didn't want to prod, but she was curious to know more about him.

Caldrion-
I grinned at her as she pulled my hair away from my face. "There arent many scissors laying around in the woods, are there?" I tease. My face looses a bit of cheerfulness as she asks me about my past. I decided to tell her the truth. "They were all slain, my tribe. I was the only one to escape, because I was banned. My father was mad at me, I dont remember why." I say, and I really didnt. I sighed and looked down at the ground. "Anyway, here I am. I have been alone for a while... Thats why my hair is so long!" I end the sob story cheerfully. At least I tried to.
(No, your not a failure! Its ok if they are a bit shorter, they are still much longer that lots of other peoples!)

[ lol okay ]
Gilraen nearly stopped walking as she looked up at him, eyes glossy. "I--I'm sorry. I didn't know..." Gilraen replied, a horrible sense of guilt coming over her. "If I had known, I wouldn't have asked. Sorry to bring it up." Gilraen rubbed her arm tentatively, hoping he was angry at her for bringing up his past. She didn't mean to bring back painful memories. "Anyways... tell me something else? Like what do you do for fun?" Gilraen asked, desperately trying to change the subject. "Or what are you skilled at? Diona is the best healer I've ever seen." Gilraen comment, ignoring Diona's smile of success.
