(is that the scientific word for it? lol)
Thrain looked down at his mate for a moment and brushed her side with his softly as he thought. "Something juicy." he answered with a smirk as he elevated his skull towards the sky and inhale once more. This time, he got something. His already wide nostrils widened even more as he took in the fresh scent of moose and his eyes rolled in their sockets, the black pupils dilating as he kicked into hunting mode. Letting out a growl of excitement, he dug his sharp claws into the moist terrain and launched himself into the air. He had to follow the scent and he expected his mate to be right behind him.

[ lol no it’s from a book I read ^^ Dragon’s sign of affection ]
“I agree on that,” Fate said, flicking her tail yet again. Maybe that was going to be a habit now. It was going to drive her insane, though, and she knew it would. It’d be a habit she’d have to break sooner or later, but at the moment she didn’t care. Fate looked over to Thrain as he picked up the scent of something big enough and juicy enough for his liking. Fate ruffled the scales on her neck as he jumped into the air, rumbling the ground as his hind legs propelled him up into the sky. Fate was right behind him, and once she got high enough, Fate smelled the moose. Fate growled faintly and took off after Thrain, keeping a respectable distance. As a young dragonet she’d learned that it was usually the male—if it was a mated couple—was the one to get first pick of what to kill and get to eat the first bite of whatever it was. Fate spotted the moose first and angled her wings, making a purring noise in her throat to tell Thrain she’d spotted the food. The moose seemed to be oblivious to their darkened figures against the sky.

Thrain easily caught sight ofthe moose not far below them wandering aimlessly through the trees. He heard her soft humming and responded back with a soft growl as he angled to the left and prepared to dive. Swooping towards the ground, he thrust his talons forward and extended the claws as he got closer and closer to the male's hide. Screeching, he threw all his weight upon the buck and tug his talons deep into his flesh. The male moose bellowed and his legs buckled in awkward ways as it fell. Since Thrain was much larger than the hoofed beast, he easily smashed it beneath him. His large build blocked the female from fleeing allowing Fate easily attack her.

Fate snorted and followed him downward, allowing him to get the male in his large talons before entering the fray herself and wrapping her talons around the female moose’s barrel, crunching its neck in her mouth. Fate wrapped her tail around the female’s leg, making the female moose stumble and make it easier for Fate to silence the female for good. As soon as the female was down, Fate landed and snorted, ruffling her wings and sniffing the female, staring at the female and looking back up to Thrain, allowing him to take the first bite, like her mother had taught her… it seemed like such a long time ago.

Thrain was on the ground, curled up around his kill like he was a boa constricter instead of a large dragon. He arched his neck he began to sniff his kill in various places before looking up to watch his mate kill her prey with ease. He smiled at how cunning she was and proud he owned her for himself. He saw that she was waiting for him to take the first bite so he bowed his head and took a healthy chunk from the moose's hide. After chewing, he spoke softly but with authority, "You may eat now." and returned to eating his dinner.

Fate watched him chew, and her stomach almost growled, but she managed to suppress it. She found she didn’t mind waiting—at least she had a mate that would, someday in the future, be a father to her eggs. He seemed to her like the kind of male she should be proud to be owned by. So, she would wait patiently for her turn to eat. Fate nodded when he told her she could eat, but it somehow vexed her the authority in his voice. Fate knew it would take some time getting used to the fact she was now pretty much completely under this male’s control. What he said went. She’d get used to it. Eventually. Fate hummed a quick ‘thank you,’ to him before taking a large bite out of the female’s midsection, looking up when she swallowed and commented, “It was a good hunt.”

Thrain continued to eat silently along side Fate. He often glanced at her a few times to make sure she was eating well, almost protectively. It was the first time in his life that he felt he finally owned something. This female was the best thing that ever happened to him and he was going to make sure nothing ever bad happened.
"I agree, it was an excellent one." he said back with a nod of his thick head as he slid his tongue across his upper lip to check for blood from the carcass.

Fate finished eating a bit sooner than Thrain did, and she restrained herself from talking until after he had finished his own meal. She nodded and smiled at his words before watching him lick his lips for extra blood. In a comforting—if not a tad submissive—way, Fate inched closer and licked off a stray spot of blood on his cheek before crooning quietly and resting her head on her fronts legs, but keeping herself in a position where she could see Thrain with relative ease. “Now what would you prefer to do?” Fate managed to suppress the urge to simply get up and go flying back to the ruins, as she usually would’ve done after a healthy meal, but she had to remember she wasn’t her own anymore. No, she belonged to somebody else. Thrain wasn’t bad, either, so Fate wouldn’t complain, regardless the situation. In a sign of affection, Fate lifted her head again and groomed the scales around his shoulders and crook of his neck.

Thrain smiled at her as she reached up to lick a spot of blood he had missed. It sent a light shiver down his smile and he thumped his tail against the ground. He watched her bring her head in and start to groom the scales along his shoulders so he lifted his head up to allow her more room. "I suppose we could do whatever you wish.." he said with his eyes closed. He began to hum comfortably.

Fate smiled slightly as he thumped his tail on the ground. Once he moved a bit, Fate scooted closer, grooming around the base of his wings (which were sometimes known to be ticklish, depending on the dragon) and up the base of his neck. When he said they could do whatever she wished, Fate’s first response was that of surprise. She hadn’t expected him to give her the liberty of deciding the activity. And to be completely honest, Fate wasn’t sure what she wanted to do. “Hmm,” Fate said, lifting her head momentarily to talk clearly. “I don’t really care. I’m content with anything.” Fate smiled and flicked her tongue across his cheek again before going back to grooming underneath his scales.

The golden dragon jumped at the feeling that tingled between the base of his two wings. He made him smile and shrink away until she drew her head up to speak to him. "We could go watch the sunset.." he offered, licking her cheek back.

Fate chuckled lightly when he jumped at the feeling of the base of his wings being groomed. She remembered the first time her mother had groomed her there: she’d gone into a giggling fit. But then again, that was when she was less than a year old. Now she’d probably be able to hold in the unnecessary laughter. When he offered to watch the sunset, Fate smiled. It sounded nice. She crooned quietly when he licked her cheek and sat herself up straighter, making sure to keep her head lower than his chin, however. “That sounds good to me.” Fate smiled and rubbed the top of her head underneath his chin in an affectionate manner.

Thrain smiled and enjoyed the feeling of her underneath his chin. She was warm beneath her green scales and she felt inviting. "I know the perfect place." he told her as he drew back. Moving away from her so he would not hurt her when he took off, he prepared for take off. He gave her a goofy grin and winked before taking to the sky. The sun was already getting low, but not quite at the point it touched the Earth. Thrain hovered as he waited for his mate to join him.

Fate smiled and closed her eyes momentarily as she enjoyed his closeness. She allowed him to withdraw when he stood up, and she stood up moments after him, chuckling at his grin and wink. He was quite the charmer, wasn’t he? Fate smiled brightly and launched up into the sky, claws digging into the earth and leaving large scratch-prints as she propelled herself into the sky. She flew as close to Thrain as she could without having their wings crash into each other, looking out across the sky at the sun that was already starting to set, turning pinks and oranges and throwing them into the blue of the sky. At this rate, they’d be able to see most of the sunset. Fate prummed quietly to herself. Today was the best day of her life.

Re: Along the Base of Loneliness [ Mature/Experienced ]
Thrain smiled over at her exposing his sharp, glittering fangs. Putting his gaze forward, he sought out the large jagged rocks where he used to perch alone to watch the sunset. They weren't far ahead.
The golden dragon dropped to the flattest rock he could find and waited for Fate to do the same. He cast his gaze out across the sea that billowed before them. The ripe sun was just touching the surface as it emitted rich hues of reds, oranges, and purples. The thin clouds that trailed above it drank in the colors making a neat collage that drew the eye to it.
Thrain prummed as he tucked his wings tightly against his side to give his mate plenty of room to cuddle up next to him. He watched her with loving eyes and beckoned her closer.

Re: Along the Base of Loneliness [ Mature/Experienced ]
Fate followed him, enjoying the scenery as they scenery as they passed it. The jagged rocks that lay ahead looked welcoming to her as a dragon. The waves crashed somewhere far below them, and Fate looked back up to the sky as the sunset dropped lower, threatening to hide itself behind the horizon. Fate watched Thrain land and a loving look glittered in her eyes. As she landed, Fate sat down until she saw Thrain pull his wings in tighter against him. Getting the message clear as daylight, Fate smiled and hummed deep in her throat before walking over to him and settling down beside him, making sure she too tucked in her wings closely beside her. Fate looked back out to the sun, resting her head gently against his neck, feeling more content than she ever had in her entire life up to that point. So, today had been successful. She’d finally found a suitable mate that she was completely sure would stay with her. And even though she was owned much like property now, Thrain wasn’t like some males and didn’t take advantage of her—and from what she could tell, he never would.
He treated her like a fellow dragon, and she enjoyed that about him. Fate prummed again quietly and watched as the sun sank lower, adding dashes of red and violet and deeper purple into the sky as the moon began to peak out over the horizon, bringing along with it a host of sparking and twinkling stars, each individual one prominent against the midnight-blue background of the sky as the sun bid its adieus and allowed the moon to take its place. As soon as the sun was gone, Fate looked up at Thrain with intrigue and nuzzled underneath his cheek gently.

Thrain rested his head above her's and sighed as he watched the last of the sun's light glow and then disappear beneath the horizon. Now the sky was dark and held a vast expanse of twinkling stars. He looked up at them in wonder, his topaz eyes drinking in the millions of dots that shimmered in various colors. They always amazed him.
(bout to change it up)
The golden dragon sat with his emerald beauty in silence, but the air was filled with great love and passion. He admired her and she adored him, making them the perfect couple. As Thrain was about to turn to Fate and say the three words he knew would change their entire lives, something hurled itself from the brush behind them and barreled into Thrain. It knocked Fate back into the rocks and sent Thrain over the edge. He let out a roar as he plummeted to the water. He caught himself just before he landed and glanced up. Above him looked a brilliant, orange dragoness. "Glory.." he muttered in completely astonishment.
Glory was Thrain's former love from many years ago. Their relationship ended in the breaking of her heart, but Thrain could not deal with such a hot headed female who was nothing more than a lusty whore. Glory hovered over the large stone and stared down at Thrain who glided over the water. Her aquamarine blue eyes pierced his with such hate, he could almost feel it. Her scales were a rich sunset orange with flecks of yellow and white scattered randomly. Her under belly and wings were a fiery yellow. She had two horns atop her slender head. Over all she was a very thin, fit female with fine features and a deadly past.

Re: Along the Base of Loneliness [ Mature/Experienced ]
Fate snorted angrily and tumbled back into the ground, roaring when a rock hit the base of her wing, and a crack resounded around the rocks. Fate shook her head and staggered to her feet, rushing over to the edge, looking down to see another dragoness hovering over Thrain. Fate frowned and backed up a moment before stretching her injured wing. It hurt like hell, but Fate was more interested in who this female was. Fate propelled herself off the cliff, but her injured wing made her flight pattern uneasy, and she ended up spiraling down, her tail thwacking the other female harshly on the back of her neck, in between the base of her neck and the start of her wings. Fate tried to stop herself from falling, but her weak wing wouldn’t support her, and she landed roughly in the water, sending up a spray of water around them.
Fate left her injured wing out, unable to fold it against her, and snorted, “Thrain?” Fate called up to him, lifting her head and staring at the dragoness. She suddenly wondered who this female was. Female dragons didn’t usually come up and attack males unless they already knew them. And even then, females were not supposed to confront dragons unless they had a good reason to. Fate backed up and swam out of the water, clambering up to the bank and sniffing her wing and wincing. Stupid female… stupid, stupid female…
Growling angrily, Fate stared up at the two dragons, snapping open her good wing and trying to lift herself into the air, but her bad wing simply snapped again, and flopped down by her side. She had a daunting feeling that the base of her wing might be broken. Damn female! If she hadn’t knocked her into the rocks so roughly Fate wouldn’t be like this. “Thrain, who is that!?”

Thrain watched as his mate attempted to fly towards him, but her wing failed her and she plummted towards the water. He felt the spray from her landing land on his scales and he grimmaced. "Fate!" he called as he started to swoop down to help her, but Glory roared a victory and caught his attention again. He glanced at her before looking back down at Fate who had managed to swim towards the shore. He watched her clamor up it. He knew her wing was either severly hurt or broken.
Glory looked up when she heard the other dragon shift on the rocks above her. With a growl, she watched and prepared an attack as she drew closer, but the female's wing collapsed and she fell past her. Her tail came down harshly on her neck, making her cry out in anguish. "Who am I?" laughed Glory, her voice a icy fire. It was sharp and high pitched, yet it was harsh and heated. "Im Glory. I take it Thrain never spoke of me.." she said as she landed up on the rocks above the both of them. She wrapped her spiked tail around her thin legs, and craned her neck to lick the base where her wings met.
Thrain ignored her and flew down to Fate. "Darling, are you okay?" he asked, his voice thick with worry. He landed beside her and moved to look near her wing base. It was swollen and the scales looked ruffled. "I think your wing is broke.." he decided as he drew away before he touched it. He didnt want to touch it or hurt her. Glory's voice stung his ears and he cringed. "Glory is like an ex-girlfriend.." he answered her and growled.

Re: Along the Base of Loneliness [ Mature/Experienced ]
Fate growled at Glory, already hating the dragoness with all her heart. Fate was pleased with Thrain’s concern, though, and she nuzzled his neck gently, “I’ll be fine,” she commented quietly, even though she knew she really wasn’t. A dragon with a broken wing was no better off than a rabbit surrounded by wolves. Fate grimaced as she shifted on one of her legs, letting out a growl as her wing shifted, the bone cracking again, but not breaking again. It was probably already broken, it couldn’t get any worse. Fate knew that.
“Was your whole purpose just to hurt me and take Thrain back!?” Fate roared at Glory, taking another step forward, he wing dragging alongside her, and she winced before forcing herself to stop. Despite what she wanted to do to this damned dragoness, Fate knew she couldn’t afford to have her other wing broken. Then she might as well be dead. She already felt awful. She was stuck down in this trench, and she couldn’t get food or help Thrain hunt. There was a burning shame over her, and she was sure it showed in her eyes, but at the moment he didn’t care.
Fate looked at Thrain and sighed heavily, lowering herself to the ground and nursing her injured wing, flinching each time she touched it. It hurt more than she’d expected it to. “I’m sorry Thrain,” Fate muttered. She felt bad. She couldn’t do anything. Not only was she rendered useless to Thrain, she couldn’t fulfill her duty to him as a mate and lover, as well as a fellow dragoness. Fate lowered her head and rested it on the shore. The shame was crushing, and she swore it was just as bad as her wing as it was emotional. Stupid dragoness. Stupid Glory. She didn’t deserve that name.

Re: Along the Base of Loneliness [ Mature/Experienced ]
Thrain hovered around his wounded mate. He felt that there was nothing be could do even though he so badly wished to make her all better. He looked at her wing as he ignored Glory who was perched above them on the ledge. "This is not good.." he mumbled as she struggled to hold back his anger that boiled deep within him. Her wing was a mess and every time she moved, he saw her wince in pain. With a growl, he elevated his head and glared up at the orange dragon.
Glory peered over the edge of the rock and smiled down upon the damage she caused. "Oh, i have no plans of taking him back. I'm just making sure he knows how bad he hurt me." she huffed. Flicking her long tail, she gripped the ledge with sharp talons and watched them below her. The female was obviously hurt, bad, and Thrain seemed to be pull of sadness due this "accident." "Now that your hurt, or ruined, you cant do anything which include a family..." There was devilish smirk on her face as she said this, and a sickening happiness in her heart.
"You have no reason to be sorry, darling.." he said as he continued to glare at Glory. "Just because she is hurt, does not mean we cant go on." he hissed and started to pace along the bank, thinking. "Your just a jealous bitch who will never have a family because your a whore who treats your mates like shit!" he roared up at her, his scales shivering with anger.

Re: Along the Base of Loneliness [ Mature/Experienced ]
[ You are back! I missed talking to you—whatever happened, are you feeling any better? I hope you are…! ]
Fate snorted angrily as Thrain hovered around her with anxiety. She frowned. Why’d she have to be stupid enough to try and fly down there after knowing her wing was too badly wounded? How would she ever get out of here and back up to the perch? She listened quietly to Glory, almost submissively, as she continued to talk. Fate rolled her eyes and tendrils of smoke wafted from her nostrils in an angry fashion. Why did she have to torment her so? Scales ruffling angrily, Fate stepped forward a bit, wincing as her injured wing dragged along beside her. “If you don’t want him back, then—” as soon as Glory mentioned the not having a family part, Fate fell silent. She’d wanted a family, she knew that… But Glory was right in that aspect… How could a dragoness without a wing be of any use to a male? She couldn’t hunt for him, she couldn’t fly with him when he requested it, and she couldn’t breed nor be a successful mother with an impaired wing.
“She’s right,” Fate murmured quietly, crouching down onto her stomach and keeping her eyes trained on the ground. Despite the harsh words that freed themselves from Thrain’s lips, Fate still felt like she’d done something horribly wrong. Staring at the waves that crashed along the sandy banks, Fate concentrated on what he had told her. He’d said that they could still go on…but was he just saying that? Fate was a nuisance now. She couldn’t get out of this gully, nor could she fly out and get food of her own. It was the female’s job to be most like a slave to her mate, and in this condition, the only service she could do him was talking and nuzzling.
“I’m sorry, Thrain. I shouldn’t have tried to move…” Fate shook her head and buried it underneath her good wing, closing her eyes and ignoring everything else around her. What’d she done?! Obviously something extremely stupid… Why had she done this…? At least he was trying to defend her, right? The both of them? With the injured wing, Fate had now clue how long she’d be a bother to every other dragon besides herself. “I was stupid.”

Re: Along the Base of Loneliness [ Mature/Experienced ]
Glory's eyes moved to slits as she took in his words. They pierced her straight in the heart and now she was mad. With a roar of indignation, Glory backed up and prepared to jump from the rocky ledge and attack her once mate. She reared up onto her hind legs, extending her massive wings, and throwing her head up high as smoke rose in spirals from her small nostrils. With a eerie cry, the orange female lurched forward and dove from the ledge.
Thrain stopped pacing and looking longingly at his mate. She knew what Glory had said really cut to her heart and now she was beating herself up because of it. "Oh Fate.." he rumbled as he started to get closer to her. He moved around her broken wing so he didn't accidentally step on it and cradled her under his neck. "I promise everything will be okay...we will fix this.." he assured her in a whisper. His head flew up when he heard Glory's aggravated battle cry. He grew tense and prepared for the worse. Other than fighting Fate for a chance at love, he had never fought a female. Let alone intended to kill one..
(Thanks for caring. I was a little sick with something id rather not say. But its good to back and i missed talking with you as well)
