"Get him off! get him off!" shouted Dan, the farm director.
The young stablehands used all their might to pull and tug the big stud off the petite mare. They had all assumed the mare could handle such a large stallion, but they presumed wrong and she was having complications.
"Walk him around and put him to pasture, i don't wanna see him for the rest of the day." he said as he wiped sweat from his brow and headed down the isle to find the vet.
One boy started to lead the hude stallion down the wide isle, holding him close to his head so he could tug it away with excitment as he inhaled all the mare's scents around him. The other boy tried to sooth the skittish mare who's eyes reflected pain and fear. "She'll never mate again." concluded the vet and Dan decided to sell her.
"Careful Cloud." warned the boy who led him round and round the empty arena. He walked him outside to an lone pasture where he turned him out to run freely for awhile. "What a mighty horse." he said as he watched him, then turned to go.

Later that night, Cloud stood in his stall. He was restless and irritable. The previous day was a waste of time him because he never got to finish his business with the mare. Grunting, he turned around and around in his box stall.
Cloud was a famous breeding stud used all across the southern half of South Carolina. He was whole towering 16 hands with plenty of muscles mass to pull a large tractor. It was tested. He was a palomino and quarter cross with a pelt of gold and locks of pure white silk. He had three white socks and thin white stripe doing down his big nose. He was the "Main Attraction" at Canterbury Brood Mare Farms. Lynn Nicks was also his owner.
There was one other stud on the farm who wasn't use much. He was Chip and he often grew jealous of Cloud and teased him. Cloud could kill him in an instant if given the chance. and now he spoke, "Cloud Runner. Blech! What a feminine name!" Cloud snorted in his stall and glared across the isle at the lame, black Morgan. "Hush up, you bastard." snapped Cloud. "At least the mare's i fuck enjoy it and are worthy of me. You get scum.." he smirked as he turned away.

Lynn lay awake in her bed as she stared up at the white ceiling thinking about school. Tomorrow would be her first day as a Senior at South Gate High.
She was a typical teenaged girl with long, auburn hair and pale skin. She had freckles that over her nose and across her shoulders. She had pretty emerald eyes and a sweet smile. Pure country, but raised in the city. she owned Cloud since he was a colt and kept him at a farm just outside her old home in New Jersey. The move was stressfull. And now, she had to start all over again.

"Easy girl" I call to angel from the cab of my truck. Angel and I had been on the road showing for about a year when my parents wanted me to come home and take charge of the family breeding farm, hide away acres. We were headed to a stud farm in south carolina, as where we lived in georgia. I was 18 tanned skin from farm work and always being outside. My dark brown longhish hair which I had bleached the ends blonde. My icey green blue eyes fixed on the road as we head up the long drive way of canterbury brood mare farm. I pull infront of what looked like the brood mare barn. I turn my truck off and walk to the office " hi I'm scott McAurther my father robert McAurther sent me here to breed our top mare sunset's painted angel and maybe to get a job here for the school year" I say as stand in the door way

I whinny for scotty to hurry up and get me out of this crap hole of a trailer. I didn't like being left in trailers for long or not having the attention on me for long. I stampd my hoof being impatent

Lynn stood in the doorway of the bar watching as the truck with a trailer made its way down their dirt road to the barn. "Foreigner" she muttered as she turned away to tend to her mares. That was what she called everyone who came to their breeding farm from far off. She herself was a foreigner from Ireland, brought her at age two.

Dan looked up from his desk where he was filing papers when a young man stepped in. He stood up and smiled a grim smile and moved around the desk to clasp his hand in a firm handshake. "Im Dan Fetters. Owner of Canterbury Farms." he said and guided the boy into his office. "So..." he started as he picked up a cigar and lit it up. "Ya lookin for a job and a stud for your mare huh?" he took a few puffs and slicked his black hair back. "Who did you say your father was?"

Lynn had finished walking Marigold and put her out to pasture. She headed back into the barn to find Dan and tell him Stacia was ready for breeding. Her black cowgirl boots thudded against the stone isles as she made her way down there. She crossed her arms over her chest and clacked her gum, blowing a bubble. She yanked open Dan's door, the wind blowing her red hair back and she started to say. "Dan, Stac..." she she stopped, eying the boy. Shrugging, she continued. "Stacia is ready to breed."

" my father is Robert McAurther. He was a jockey and quite the horseman. He's famous in the eventing world now and he owns one of the largest and most successful breeding and traing farm in the countrywe had previously sold some mares to you I think they had arabain blood in then or something like" I say as I walkinto his office and take a seat infront of his desk after I give him a firm hand shake " and yes sir my mare is sunset's painted angel you might have heard of her she quite the mare" I say with a smile as I talk about my mare. I turn as soon as I hear the door open I stand when I see its a girl about my age. I notice she looked and sounded irish. She was beautiful I smile but shake my head to fcous back on why I was here in the first place " would you like to take a look at her she's wanting to get out of the trailer" I say to dan as I hear angel start to kick the walls of the trailer and whinny for me to hurry up.

Dan nodded his head as he listened and took puffs every now and again from his cigar. "Angel huh? I believe i may heard of her in the papers every now and again, but i have defiantly worked with your father in previous years." He looked up at Lynn and smiled, "Ah, ill have you get Cloud ready but first i want you meet Scott." He stood and gestured for her to come forth.

Usually bold, Lynn felt timid as she stiffly came into his office and extended her hand to the young chap. "Lynn Gilburt." she said introducing herself and then once they shook hands, she moved away and rucked hair behind her ear. "I hear your mare is restless. Shall i put her in a larger box stall?" she was inching towards the door.

Dan laughed a hearty laugh, "Do that for the boy and give him a tour while ya at it. I got work to do in my office, ill get someone else to prepare Cloud." with that, he ushered them out the door.

I stand up and walk over towards Lynn, I smile " its very nice to meet you my name is scott , but you can call me scotty if you like" I say in my deep georgian accent as I exstend my hand towards her to shake. My large hand swallowed her petite danty hand. My icey green blue eyes smile down at her.

"Thank you that would be wonderful, id love to take a tour and look around this place" I say to lynn as we walk to my truck and trailer to retreave my waited mare. "Sorry if she seems how should I put this...alittle protective or bossy but you know how mares are" I say with a smile as I unlach my trailer and bring angel out.

" easy angel no ones going to hurt you silly goose" I say as I pat my excited mares neck.
I whinny as scotty gets me out of the trailer my beautiful dampled buskin pinto coat shown in the sunshine. My wavy multicolored mane drifts gently around me like fire in the breeze as well as my long wavy tail. I prick my ears and prance at the end of my lead and whinny loudly letting all the horses know that I had arrived. I see the young girl about scottys age I stamp a hoof at her but then I stretch my muzzle towards her to smell her.

Lynn held hard eye contact with him as he introduced himself. Her hand felt so small curled up inside his is. She knew he worked very hard from where ever he came. Georgia she guessed by his accent.

They went to the trailer and she waited patiently to the right as he spoke of his genuine mare. "She sounds like a beauty." Lynn said as she listened to the impatient mare inside. Scott led her out and Lynn watched her prance her way out with an expressionless face. "How did she get that odd coloring?" she asked as she put forth a pale hand to Angel's nose for her to sniff.

"Well no one back home is quite sure how she came to have this color coat" I say rubbing the back of my neck " her mom was a dampled palomino coloring and her father was a buskin with white stockins and when we bred then we got her. Which I'm very happy we did" I say smiling as I pat angels neck

I extend my elegant head towards lynn and sniff her hand. I gently nibble at it then I start to walk closer to her and nuzzle her hair playfully

" looks like she has formed a bond with you" scotty says with a smile as angel nickers to himself and lynn

Lynn listened to him as she strokes Angel and rubs her cheek. The mare strays closer and blows into her face and tousles her red hair. She smiles a little as she says, "Very lucky."

She walks away from the unique mare and starts to head for the barn, "This way." she said and motioned with her hand for them to follow. Once in the barn, she has Scott hand Angel off to a stable hand who is to put her in a roomy box stall. Lynn begins to start her tour with Scott following close behind. She tells him the barns history and about each important horse they pass. She shows him the five riding arenas, the two breeding rooms, all the tack room and the brood mare barn.

"This is our stud barn. We dont have many studs we use that often except one..." Lynn was saying as she guided Scott down a corridor to large stall laced with gold trim and a gold name plate. "This is Cloud, our best stud on the farm." she says with a gleam. He is also my boy and came from Ireland with me."

Cloud marched up to the front of his stall and pushed his thick head out of the window and drew in a large breath. HE snorted and took in the sight of the new boy and his girl. He nudged her shoulder and whickered to her before shifting his skull and pressing mug against Scott's shirt. He could smell Angel on him and he flung up his head up and pulling back his lips. He yanked his head back into his stall and began pacing, his palomino pelt shimmering with health beneath the afternoon sun.

scott smiled" very lucky indeed" he say s as angel and him follow lynn into the barn where angel would be staying. scott handed angel off to the stable groom and patted her neck " you behave yourself missy your hear" he say before following lynn on the rest of the tour

angel went uitely into her new roomy box stable. she oes a few circles checks out her water bucket and her food bucket then sighhappliy. she then sticks her hdanit arabian like shaped head out her box stall and looks aorund her new home

scott listens to everyword that came out of lynn mouth. smiling at how she kneweverything about each horse they pasted. " wow this place is way bigger then i thought it would be" he saidas they walk past the broodmare barns the riding areanas the tack rooms and the breed rooms " reminds me of home already" he says with a ligth laugh as the walk into the stallion barn. as we head over to thier main studs stall , lynn tells me this is her horse, as a beautifull palomino head comes out of the large box stall to greet us. " he sure is a beauty just like his owner" i say and smile at lynn then as i pet cloud i laugh as he smells angel " looks like he can smell my girl on me isnt that rigth boy"

( just an FYI, Lynn is clueless about love. she was an orphan and never really found someone to LOVE her. She had a rough time growing up and got hurt a lot. It may take her awhile to open up with Scott and begin to like him. She is stubborn and may seem distant or rude, though it adds to her mystery personality lol)

Lynn nods her head as she watches Scott with her baby. She smiles at them and reaches her hand up to stroke Cloud's cheek with a pale hand. He brings his skull down and nudges her palm for a treat. "Here ya go boy." she laughs as she pulls out a peppermint and lets his fuzzy lips lap it up.
"I guess he can." Lynn replies as Cloud ducks his head back in and searches for his water bucket where he begins to drink. "The barn is pretty huge here, but its not complicated like most stables around these parts." she says as they begin walking back towards the brood mare barn. When Scott had said Cloud had looked as wonderful as her, she gave him an odd look, almost rolling her eyes.
In a way she was used to the typical banter the other stable hands threw at her about her looks and stuff like that, It was usual and she brushed it off. Never, would she go back there again.

They were coming up to the house when Lynn stopped and picked up a horse shoe from the dirt. "Up ahead is the farm house where everyone stays. I live there and a couple others who work here do to. Dan lives on some estate like the rich man he is and the others live in town." she says to him and resumes walking closer to the large, brick colonial house.

scott smile as lynn let her guard down around cloud, he found it to be very sweet. scott watches cloud as lynn talks about the barn. " thats true most farms like this one usually turn out to be pretty large" he says as they exit the stallion barn. as they passed the brood mare barn angel had her head over her stall watching them with her ears pricked. she whinnied a heelo then went back into her stall todo who knows what. scott smiled then returned to earth when lynn stopped to pick up a hporse shoe and point out where he would be staying. " sounds like dan really isnt a horse man.. just into getting money and breed good blood lines if i may say that" scott say noticing it was true that dan was no wher in sight " how many other workers like in the farm house" he asked again as they walk up to the house

Lynn doesn't look at him when she answers him. "Yeah, Dan does not ride or come round them unless he is needed for breeding. He mostly works with customers seeking a stud or placing bets in shows." she talks about Dan as though he means the world to her. In a way he does. He took her in after his wife died, the one who wanted to adopt her.

As they neared the house, its shadow began to crawl forward and stretch out to them. She casts a glance up at the many windows and at the ivy slowly creeping its way across the front. Soon, the gardener would have to fix that. "Only about three other people. Jessie, Aurther, and Annett. Annett is from Mexico." she tells him as they start to walk up the steps. She shivers in the slight breeze and sighs quietly, thinking about Annett who was adopted from Mexico before her.

" her reminds me of my uncle jack" scott smiles thinking about his uncle " he always knew what horses to breed together to come out with the best foals around and whenever he made a bet on a race or a show he always won but when it came to riding or even grooming he stayed in his office most of the time" he says before looking at the house then to lynn. " do you think it would be ok with dan if i brought my dog here to stay as well or should i not go there?": i ask her as he approach the house. the house was beautiful. it beat living out of hotel rooms for the past year

Lynn listened to him as he told her about his uncle who was a lot like Dan. By now, they had reached the door and Lynn placed her hand on the door handle. "I dont think he would mind." she said

Lynn opened the door and led Scott inside into a wide foyer decorated with baby blue walls and red decor. She slipped off her boots, placing them on the mat and then waited for Scott to do the same. Quickly, she gave him a grand tour of the house and then led him upstairs. She counted doors and stopped behind the third one. "This is yours. Mine is next door." she said and started to walk to her own room.

scott i smile " good cause shes kindof out in my trailer" i say as i take my boots off and follow lynn around the house as she gave him a tour. scott took in the house where he would be living for a year and he seemed to like it very much.

as they head up the steps lynn leads scott to the third door which she said would be his new room. scott smiled at the idea of his own room for once. scott watched as lynn walked to her room just one door down " thanks " he called to her as he headed back outside to his truck to collect his things and his dog.

" come on sadie" scott calls as he starts to walk back up to the house. form the trailer you coul dhear a bark and out jumped a beautiful australian shepherd that came running after scott righ ton his heel as they got into the house

Lynn nodded her *welcome* and slipped quietly into her room. She shut the door behind her and flipped on the switch. The sun was slowly setting and dark shadows were starting to creep into her room. She hated the dark. Lynn glided to her window and pulled aside the curtain. She had heard a bark and figured it was Scott's dog, the one he mentioned.

She studied him from the window, looking over his structure with keen eyes. He seemed nice enough and had a pretty good profile. Shrugging, she left the window. She pulled open her dresser and yanked out a set of brown PJ shorts and quickly changed into them. She left on her tank top. she pulled her red hair back into a pony tail and sighed as she passed the mirror. The hall sounded quiet as she pressed her ear to the door so she decided to slip out and go to the kitchen.

scott walked into the house and went straigh to his room sadie righ ton his heels till she smelt food from the kitchen. sedie ventured off towards the kitchen as scott went to his room.

as scoot got to his room he noticed sadie wasnt with him " oh no" he said as he put his stuff down and went to go look for her.
he had taken his shirt off revealing his eight pack from all his years of hard work when he walked into the kitchen adn saw lynn and sadie barking at her

Lynn had just entered the kitchen and turned on the light when she heard the sounds of paws scraping against the wooden floor. She whirled around and Scott's huge dog had found its way in and started barking at her. "Sh!" she tried and backed up against the counter in fear. She was afraid of big dogs.

Lynn was shaking when Scott came into the kitchen to retrieve his hound. She glanced up at him with scared eyes and saw he was shirtless. She gazed at him for a moment, trailing his muscled body. She then quickly shook it away. Fair game, she was in short shorts.

As scott entered the kitchen, sadie had lynn pinned in the corner on the counter. " sadie be nice lynn lives here too you silly rascal" iscott said as hetook hold of the australian shepherds dark leather collar and point her towards the stairs " now go to our room and stay there till you can be nice" he says as he gentle patts sadie on her rump.

Sadie whines as scott made her go to his room, she was just wanting to make a nw friend. After sadie went up stairs, scott turned to lynn notcing her scared look in her eyes he rubbed the back of his neck " I'm sorry about that sadie isn't mean or anything she's only 2 and wants to be friends woth everyone she meets" he says trying to be nice. " are you ok?" He asked lynn softly as he took one step closer towards her. That's when he notice he wasn't wearing a shirt and she was in short shorts

Lynn watched the floor as Scott scolded Sadie. He was gentle, but firm about it. She lifted her gaze just high enough to rest it upn the large dog who whimpered and started out of the kitchen. She shook her head and climbed down from the counter. "Im fine." she said and closed her eyes for a minute.

Lynn turned away from Scott so she wouldn't be tempted to look at his bare chest. Why was she so eager to look? She headed towards the fridge. "We haven't had a dog on the farm in years." she commented as she pulled out some ham and honey.
