Suddenly, Joel let one of their thoughts fill his head. Then he roared in fury, shoving the thoughts out. His eyes turned dark red, veins popping out below them. His fangs grew swiftly as he jumped down from the tree ripping them away from her. He faced her momentarily, his-longer than a normal vampire-fangs flashing white in the headlights. Then he snarled like an animal, facing the figures who were wide-eyed in fright. Without a second thought he grabbed one by his shoulders roughly, sinking his fangs into his throat. After that one was drained, blood dripped from his chin as Joel shoved his away. As he went for another in his rage, he stood in front of the headlights, giving Alice a clear view of who he was.

Him Right Now:

Alice heard a snarl and looked around almost groggily. Her vision was blurry, due to hitting her head against the car as she was torn from her vehicle, eyes wide but glazed over. The dark-haired girl watched the 'man', attacked the others. She saw his familiar figure outlined in the light of her headlights, whispering. "Joel..." Before her mind slipped, rendering her vulnerable and unconscious.

As Joel snapped the last mans neck, he heard his name. He whipped his head to look at Alice, then in about one second was he right there, almost on top of her. The smell of her rushing blood sent sparks through his stone-cold body. He lowered his head down to her neck, but stopped before he could feed on her. With a animal like growl he stood up, sitting her up against the side of her car. Then he sat away from her, in front of the car. He started to rock back and forth, eyes wide. He absolutely hated when he went off, he hated the results. The men laid scattered across the road, their blood still dripping from his chin. Joel's mouth was open a bit, his lips low enough to show his, still out, long fangs.

The girl made a small sound as he lifted her, head lolled to one side against the cool metal of the truck. Alice wasn't bleeding anywhere, she was a tough lass, but sometimes the right crack to her head just took her out. Groaning, it was obvious she'd be back round anytime soon.

Joel went stiff when he heard her groan, sensing she would awaken soon. Then he stood up and began pacing, running his cool white fingers through his blonde hair. What would he do? He couldn't let her divulge his secret. He would almost certainly get killed by a hunter. But he didn't want to compel her again. So he growled in frustration, the veins slowly fading from his eyes.

Alice let a low moan escape her lips as she came to, lifting a shaky hand to gingerly rub her forehead. "D-did I h-hit a deer or s-somet-thi-thin'?" She stammered, trying to remember what had happened. But in her head, her memories, there really wasn't much. Yep, she really had hit her head hard.

With almost wild looking eyes Joel looked at her, breathing hard. He was still debating changing up her memories, but knew he would regret it. So instead he said, a animal like sound in his voice, "No...you didn't."

Alice squinted, trying to calm the swirling blurry vision. "Then w-why a-a-am I-I sat h-here?" The lady stuttered, raising her other hand to her head to rub her temples. Pulling herself, quite amazingly, to her feet, Alice looked at Joel with glazed over eyes. "Y-you're that m-man from e-earl-lier."

Joel growled a little as he swiftly appeared in front of her, gripping her head gently between his hands. Then he ordered, his eyes dilating as he did so, "Everything is clear, you can remember everything." As he finished he turned his head, the veins popping out again with the smell of her blood. Then he released her and  started pacing again, why did he do that? "Fuck, fuck, fuck!" He growled lowly. Even now his fangs were out, yearning for more and more blood.

Alice flinched as he appeared before her, trying desperately to pull away from him but unable to do so. His hands, cold against her warm, soft skin, held her there. As he spoke, low and careful to her, the memories surged back like a tidal wave, the fog lifting, mist clearing. "Oh dear God.." She whispered, moving to cut her rumbling engine.

As she remembered Joel the red back to her, his face very off looking with only his eyes red and his fangs. His veins had sunk back in as he took deep breaths. Then he said, trying to suppress a growl, "See-" he paused looking at the bodies before him before continuing, "You didn't hit a deer did you?" But as he said this he looked down in shame.

Following his gaze to the bodies, looking down sadly at the mangled corpses with an unreadable expression. Just her icy eyes shimmered with unseen emotions, unnoticed. "I-.." She started, walking forward unsteadily to lean against the bonnet of her Jeep Wrangler. "Those people.. They're the wanted rapists.." She whispered, voice cracking.

Quickly, Joel shook his head muttering something under his breath. But then he looked to her and stood in front of her, meeting her eyes and asking, "Are you okay?" Deep in his eyes, the emotion of worry clearly shown in his blood red eyes. As he waited for an answer, he put his hands on either side of her on the hood. He wasn't going to let her move until he was absolutely positive she was ok.

Alice lent back as he loomed over her, hands braced on the hood as she looked boldly into his eyes, ice meeting crimson. "I'm fine." She answered, though that was an utter lie. She felt like the easiest breeze could knock her clean off her feet, and she could barely keep the image in one piece.

Joel didn't move. He stood there and even lent closer, never letting his gaze move from hers. Then he said, his cool breath losing against her face, "Tell the truth please. I'm not moving until you do." Slowly, but surely, were his hybrid features disappearing, but his fangs were still a little visible.

Alice stared back bravely, leaning further back and feeling fainter by the degree. "Then you'll be wai-..." She couldn't finish, fainting cleanly beneath him, her body hitting the car with a dull thud. Luckily, her keys were still in the ignition, and the ranch was the only thing at the end of the road.

Luckily, Joel was quick and caught her head before she hit it to the truck. Then he picked her up in his arms and laid her in the back of her truck. Then he got in the driver side and punched it, doing a doughnut to turn around. He wasn't going to go to her house, but to the ER. With his expert driving at going the max speed the car would go, he got there in about 20minutes. He picked her up like cradling her in his arms and brought her in, where she was quickly taken back I put a note in her pocket that said:

I'll be back with your car, just wait for me.

Then he left to go back to the scene and clean up.

Alice was simply limp in his arms, out cold and silent. Almost like he was holding a corpse. Her ebony hair was over her face, hiding her beautiful facial features, cold eyes closed off from the world. Her body jerked and convulsed with the rough road, a quiet groan leaving her lips as he cradled her and walked. She was laid on a bed and monitored, waking up quite the while later.

When she woke up, he was there, but sitting in the corner of the room. Hospitals sucked for vampires, blood, injuries...ugh. But he felt a connection to this girl. So there he sat, until he sensed her awakening. Then he stood up and walked to the side of her bed. He couldn't help but joke around, "I told you, you weren't okay."

[Lottii]

Alice groaned, sitting up slowly and clutching her head. "I ain't dead yet, bucko." She grumbled, voice rough and low. She was hiding the stabbing pain in her head and left wrist, looking down to find it in a support. "damned hospital. I shouldn't be 'ere." She muttered, standing up pretty quickly. Or going to. A nurse swiftly pottered over. "Please Miss, lay down."
"No."Was the short answer.
"Sir, please tell your girlfriend to lay down and rest."

When she got up, in a split second before the nurse was there, he zoomed in front of her. But he chocked down a laugh at the nurse but put one hand on her shoulder and peered into her eyes, his pupils dilating, "You heard her, lay down and stay resting, sweetheart" Then be slowly guided her to lay down, nodded to the nurse then sat down beside the bed again.

Alice jumped at his hand, about to argue before she had to do as she was told, following his guiding hands and laying down. She didn't know why she'd done as she was told, but just felt a compulsion that she couldn't deny. "Joel..." She whispered, just like before she'd passed out the first time, looking at him with pained, confused eyes.

[Guest]

As she spoke, Joel gave her a look to be quiet for a minute. But after the nurse finally left, he sighed and looked her in the eyes and said, "Sorry 'bout that," then he grew a sly grin, "sweetheart." But then he spoke in all seriousness, "What is goin' on in that pretty little head of yours?"

[Lottii]

Alice silenced herself, cringing beneath his look and closing her eyes, trying to force herself to relax, to calm down and breath easily. Not that it was working. Her eyes snapped open as he called her a sweetheart again, just about to seriously chew him out as he asked. "I ain't all too sure myself." She answered honestly. "But a hell of a lot of pain."

Joel tapped his foot on the ground gently, then he sighed, "You want out of this damn place right?" This was actually very risky for what he was about to do, but if she was in pain..."And you want that pain to go away right?" If she said yes to these two things, he would use his blood to heal her. But for at least a day or two, he had to make sure she didn't die.
