I swam along the ocean's bed,my tail slapping the sand. I loved swimming,after all,I was a mermaid. I was probably the only one here,in this tropical unknown island. I was also,the only one who had some special powers. I was gifted with agility,and gills. I had the power to freeze water into ice,and manipulate water as well. But,I didn't exactly master these skills. I played with the tropical flounder that circled me,making backflips and breaching like a humpback whale. I loved to play as well,maybe even more than swimming! I pulled myself up to the shoreline,taking a break by the clear fresh waters. My hair clouded up to the surface,eyes closing as I breathed silently.

(Plan: I would guess kidnapped,or maybe even something worse. I do want some drama xD)

I crouch behind a bush as a watch the beautiful and mystical creature sunbathing. Oh how she pulls me in and intrigues me. Never before had I knew mermaids existed. I ran my eyes over he shiny scales and her smooth skin. Wow how beautiful she was. This was my second week of watching her every day. I just couldnt keep my eyes off her. After a long day, I drift off.

I flutter my eyes,tilting my head slowly toward a rock. I soon saw something unfamiliar. It was.. A man? No,he had no tail! What was this creature? She had only seen animals and heard humans as myths! Legends! She quickly stood up,sitting on her own tail so she looked taller. "Who're you?!" She asked in an surprised honey sweet tone.

I was softly awakened by a smooth voice. 'oh no'. I did not stand up, because I did not want to seem threatening to the mermaid. "i'm Daren" I said trying to stay as calm as possible. I stayed behind the bush.

She looked at the bush,her palms landing on the sand. She coughed,needing water to breathe. She quickly retreated,swimming like a speeding torpedo toward the bay nearest to him. She was a curious mermaid,not really one to be frightened. She slowly poked her head out of the water. "Darek? Odd name! Where's your tail?"

"no it is Daren" I say. I rise from the bush seeing that she is not scared. "I am a human, I don't have a tail"

"Daren? Even odder!" She giggled. Her hand even fed to him,curious if he had the ability to swim. "Can you swim? I think humans can swim!"

[horsegodess]

"yes I can swim." Daren said as he approached her. He stared in awe at her beautiful scales on her tail.

Her tail slowly lifted and slapped the underwater stones,smiling. "Great!" She tugged him into the water,hugging his body from behind. Within seconds,they were out in the deep waters,about three feet under. She was a few inches away from him,laughing with ease underwater.

Daren yelped as he was pulled underwater. He took a big gasp for air before he was pulled under. He felt his body get heavy from his clothes absorbing the heavy water. When she let go, he immediately swam to the surface, taking a deep breath of air when he surfaced.

Her head tilted,scales glistening underwater like a rainbow. She circled him,spiraling up. She looked down at him. "I thought you could swim?"

"i can. but i have lungs. not gills" He said as he treaded water beside her. "umm, this is pretty uncomfortable swimming in my clothes. can I get out please?"

She sighed,frowning. She thought he could be her new swimming buddy,just like her with skin and human eyes. She nodded,gripping his hand. She went at a smooth stride,bringing him closer to shallow waters.

Daren was led to shore. "thank you" He said as he climbed up the sand. He no iced that she looked sad. "i can come tomorrow" he said.

"Tomorrow? But,I wanna play today!" she whined,letting go of him. She sat down,crossing her arms.

[horsegodess]

Daren was surprised at her response. It seemed quite childish and suddenly he did not feel the magic anymore. "not today" Daren said as he got up and started walking home

(hey can you make her more woman like? So that he can keep in love with her? I am not criticizing you, I just think it would work better this way. )

She sighed,watching him walk away. She sat on the beach,leaning back against a flat rock. She started to sing,her voice enchanting and high pitched. Her hair fell over her shoulders,skin shining with smoothness. She could become a human with two legs if she wished,although she never had a reason too.

A day passed and Daren was reluctant to return to the mermaid. Except this time, he came in a bathing suit. When he arrived at the location, he was going to call her name, but he realized that he never got her name. he sat on a rock, waiting to see if she would come.
