I Can Be Your Hero, Baby (Harley)

"Take 'em into the barn turn the lights down, you know the drill." Justin instructed a stablehand. He had been planning to breed a black & white paint stallion to a black mustang mare. They would make gorgeous offspring. The hand led the two horses to a barn and did as he instructed.

Justin turned around and walked back to the ranch's office. He opened the screen door and went to a back room which had a desk and two chairs, the main office. Justin sat down behind the desk and pulled out some aperwork for a new horse. it was supposed to come in today.

He had read the papers over and over, until he memorized them. He awaited the owner to bring the stallion. Justin's new head stud. He could see it now. This was his pride & joy, horses was.

Cowgirl pranced around the pasture, tail flagged. Some stud whistled and Cowgirl shot hima dirty look. The stud back off and shook his head, mumbling something. The mare stopped and started grazing. Today was a pretty day, and she was glad to be outside enjoying it.

[Harley]

One question, how should I reply to this?

Can you be the owner with the new horse? That's what I was planning on you to do. Sorry if it seems like powerplay.

[Harley]

She tied the horse outside and slowly walked into the barn. "Justi-" She was cut off by a stable hand and pointed towards where he was. "Thanks." Catherine nodded and looked around the barn. Soon, she reached the office and slowly knocked.

Her horse stomped a hoof and let out a squeal. Catherine quickly went to calm it and put a comforting arm on its back. The horse nibbled at her blonde hair and nuzzled her face. "I'm telling you, it's my freckles! Not dirt!" Catherine laughed and ran back to the door.

Justin raised his head when he heard a knock. "Come in." He shuffled the papers back into their drawer. Justin straigthened his things on his desk to make it seem neat, thought it wasn't.

He expected it was the owner of the new stud. Justin looked out the far window to try and spot it, without luck. "Hello? Come in." He spoke louder so the woman could hear.

She opened the door and stepped quietly in. Catherine shut the door behind her and turned around, blond hair bouncing neatly on her shoulders. "I brought him. Sorry I'm late, my horse was at the farriers and I had to pick him up before I could bring this one." She was shuffling through her own papers and not even looking up at him.

Once Catherine had returned the papers to her pocket, she silently cursed her self for being late and looked up. "I'm Catherine, by the way." She tucked some of her curly hair behind an ear and smiled slightly.

"it's fine. I'm Justin. Come. Sit down." Justin furrowed his brow. Why did she seem so nervous? Whatever. Just do buisiness. "Can you tell me a bit of your horse's history?" He asked politely, even though he already knew it. Justind straightened his collar. I feel like a secretary. I hate this desk. He stood up out of the chair. "I'm sorry, how 'bout we take this buisness outside. i can show you around." He lead her to the door and opened it for her to follow outside.

[Harley]

She smiled, nodded and followed him. Catherine started telling the history of the stud. His good blood lines, his sire and dam. She always paused to make sure she wasn't boring him to much. "And that's about all I know." Catherine rubbed her forehead and sighed.

"Well, anything else?" Was her last question as she scuffed the dirt with her shoe. Her hands were behind her back as she stood straight up and waited for his reply.

Justin shook his head. "No. That is just enough. Do you want me to show you around? I can lead you to the stables." He pointed in the direction of the building in which held all of his horses. The breeding barnw as beside and the livestockbarn was several yards behind that. The pasture was on the opposite side of the stables. It was a beutiful, big ranch.

[Harley]

Catherine nodded and smiled. "That sounds nice." She ran a hand over her her arm and followed him where ever he went. Catherine looked around with wide eyes. "Very nice place you have here," It was true, it was the best she had seen in a long time.

"I would give anything to have a breeding ranch like this." She bit her bottom lip and looked at him.

Justin escorted her around the ranch. He looked back at her after her comment. "Well, we do have spots open for workers, if you wanted to." He rubbed his un-shaven chin.

"I would greatly appreciate your help." Justin smiled flirtingly and sent her a charming wink of his blue eye.

[Harley]

"I think I would like that very much." She nodded at the job offer and pretended not to notice the flirty tone or charming wink. "After all, I guess we are allooking for a job these days. When are Jet and the mare gonna meet?" Catherine spun around and nodded towards the impatient stud.

She ran a hand through her hair as she gave the horse a you-will-get-your-chance look.

"Now." He walked to the pasture and retrieved Cowgirl. "This is my girl. Her show name is Gowgirls Don't Cry, but we just call her Cowgirl. She's awfully shy." His deep, Louisiana accent came through. H eusually tried to hide that he was from Louisiana because most people thought they were all stupid, mindless cajuns. That's the reason he moved to South Carolina.

Justin blushed slightly and hoped Catherine didn't notice his accent. "Anyway, the breeding barn's full so, yeah."

[Harley]

"Love her markings." Catherine said softly, not making any sudden movements. She ignored his accent, even though she liked it. Well, she thought, if he lets his out, might as well let mine out. "Well, patience is key." She let her real accent out. Australian. Catherine had lived in Australia for 9 years before moving to America.

[BayMickey]

Justin looked up at the sound of an Austrailian voice. Wow... Now, he was really inticed to her. He had never felt this way before. He felt, almost, as if he had a crush on her. He shook away the thought and it disappeared. "Thank you. Once the others are done, if you want to, they can go ahead....?"


Cowgirl snorted at the woman. he flicked her flagged tail and nuzzled Justin. She groomed the top of his head as if he was her colt. Laughing, she turned back to see her studs. Cowgirl rolled her eyes.


Justin brushed the top of his head off and pushed Cowgirl's head away, while laughing.

[Harley]

She gave him a shy smile before nodding in agreement. "Looks like you two have quite the connection. Wish Jason and I had that." With a sarcastic sigh, she glanced at the mare. " Really wish we did...."

"Shayla and I are the closest." Though her accent made it sound like 'shyla'. Catherine was talking about the horses and there refusal of being social.

Justin was a little confused, but he didn't show it. h elook towards the breeding barn and saw a stable hand leading out the mare and another leading out the stallion. I nodded towards the horses in question to if she wanted to breed the horses.

[Harley]

"Might as well while we have the chance." She said and headed over to the stud. Catherine untied him and led him over. "I do hope this goes well." Once more she bit her bottom lip and patted the shoulder of her stud.

The horse nipped at her hair and she gave him a, really? look. "Be patient." Catherine laughed and gently pushed him.

Justin nodded. "Okay then. Let's go." He led them over to the BB, which is what they called the reeding barn. He opened the door and let them follow in. Justin unlatched Cowgirl's bridle an dlet her run around.

[Harley]

Catherine led the stud in and he instantly reared at it all. "Shh!" She turned and calmed him. "Calm." She walked beside the horse and caught up to Justin. "I have to admit it. This is the first time I have ever been in a real Breeding Barn."

Catherine looked around, awe struck. "Can't wait to work here."

Justin laughed. "There's far more prettier ranches and farms than this. I rebuilt this with my friends and workers from a fire a couple of years ago." He looked down at the dirt then looked back up at her. "Let's give these horses some privacy." He turned towards the door.

Once they were outside, he turned the BB's lights down and locked the doors.


Cowgirl snorted when she saw a stud come in. She rolled her eyes and stopped to look at him. I hate it when Justin does this."

[Harley]

Catherine nodded and followed him. "Really? Looks like pros did it. Not bad." She smiled and looked at the sky. Catherine brushed her hair out of her eyes and put her hands in her pockets. '' Hot day today...." She muttered and looked back at Justin.

"Cannot wait until fall..." She took her Jean jacket off, which revealed a black T- shirt with a rose on it.

Justin sighed. "Yeah, I agree. And thanks." He stared at the barn door. Weirdly, he heard nothing. No moaning, no grunting, no neighing. A puzzled look came across his face. Usually, Cowgirl had enticed the stud by now to mount her. He put his hand on the top of his head.


"That's weird. Has your stud mated before?" He turned and looked at Catherine.

"Yes, quite a bit. But there has been fails if he thought the mare wasn't worth it." She sighed and hit her head lightly on the barn. "He will soften up over time. All the fails he mated the next day. most of the time."

Catherine looked around and let out a groan of bordem.

Justin nodded. "Got it." He slid his hands in his pocket.


Cowgirl trotted up to the palamino stud. "Hello. I'm Cowgirl." She smiled flirtingly. She wanted to get this over with.
