I sighed and let a lazy forefinger trail through the water. It was so quiet, save the cricket that was chirping. Pointed ears caught everything, and the sensitivity of them made the silence all the more maddening. My red hair was swung around my shoulder and covering part of my thigh, hiding the quiver and the sheath of which a golden sword hid. I had never seen many others; I was too shy and not very social.

A soft hum escaped my throat, my voice dry and cracked from not using it. The blue glow from the water bounced off my pale face as a strand of red hair hung in it. No, I wasn't looking for company, I wanted to get away from it. The only beings I ever saw was a fantasy hunter; a human who dared capture elves, winged wolves, anthros, unicorns and other things.

I warily made my way through the area. I held tightly to Shadow's halter and thought Shadow, make sure that if you see anything you warn me first before you run off and attack. I'd need to get a good look at it first. Shadow quickly jerked on the halter and said Jack! There's something on the other side of this fountain! I slowly made my way around the fountain and pulled out the net. I tossed it and it landed on an elf. I used my magic to seal the net then once I got a good look at her I surprisingly set her free. She was too beautiful to capture. Her natural beauty was meant to put smiles on other peoples faces. I soon spoke up and said "Hello. My name is Jack. What's your name?"

[Harley]

I jumped in surprise as a net landed around me. How could I have not heard such a large creature approaching? Once the net was off, in my hands was the loaded bow. "Star...." Slowly, I traded my bow and arrow for the golden sword, deciding it was better. "You're a fantasy hunter?" l asked in disgust, nodding to the net.

Gray eyes bored into his, I locked the image of his dragon in my mind and smiled. "Why did you come here?" I flipped my hair out of my eyes and I backed up, sword still pointed at them.

[Dark**Light]

"I didn't want to come here. Someone sent me. I didn't know his name but I saw his sword. It was neon red and had a blue stone on the end of the handle. Oh by the way this is Shadow. As you can tell she's my dragon." Shadow snarled then I thought Shadow! Stop that right now! I figured Star knew a bit about dragons.I soon said "Sorry about that. I don't know what she was thinking. AS you probably know once a fantasy hunter always a fantasy hunter. I didn't ask for any of this. But I was lured into it none the less." I looked at her and soon put my hand on my sword ready to pull it out of the sheath if I needed to. But I quickly pulled my hand away thinking What am I doing?! I can trust her! Shadow responded,though I didn't need her to, with I don't know and from the look of her eyes I wouldn't trust her. She's got the look of a shape shifter... warrior. I looked at her again and just stopped and stared.

[Harley]

"Well, why don't you quite? I don't get what the fantasies did to you." I growled. "But if there is a fight, it may as well be fair." With a laugh and bright flash of light, Star was a golden dragon a bit taller than shadow. "I may have a chance." (Switching to 3rd person)

She narrowed her silver eyes. "Careful on what you think. The dragon I got this form from could read minds, and the power came with the body." She whirled around and looked at them over her shoulder, "By the way, I don't think I need to stay any longer." The dragon flashed and was and elf again.

[Dark**Light]

I looked at Shadow as she shape shifted into a dragon. I thought you were right! But still I can trust her. I said " I promise I won't hurt you or capture you. Friends?" I held out my hand and Shadow lowered her head into a bow. I was hoping we'd be able to have a truce.

[Harley]

She whirled her head around, sending her red locks flying. "Friends? With a Fantasy Hunter?" Star spat. "Only because you didn't do it willingly." Star had a feeling she could trust him, and she always let her heart make the choices.

[Dark**Light]

Shadow snarled when Star snapped at me and I didn't stop her. Soon Shadow was ready to breath fire in an instant if she needed to. I said "So what is it? Friends or Enemies? I can always send Shadow onto you." I said jokingly. I looked at her again and her red hair looked as if it were flaming. I knew she was mad. We should back away now Jack. Unless you want to be devoured...do as I say! Shadow looked at me with an odd look on her face and started to back away. I took two steps back then held my hand out again. This time holding my silver, black and gold sword in my hands. Ready to attack if needed.

[Harley]

"Hey," She said, backing up. "I said friends, just in a different way." Star looked around and sat back down on the fountain and kept an eye on the dragon. "Hard to trust you when I know you could sic her on me any time."

[Dark**Light]

"I was joking. I don't think she would do that...not because of me at least. Maybe on her own terms but not because of me." I laughed then walked up to her and sat next to her. I almost fell into the fountain but I had grabbed onto the ledge just in time. Then Shadow decided to scare me so she flew over to me and tapped me on the shoulder causing me to fall in. I fell under the water then popped back up and said "A little help here."

[Harley]

"Hmm.... should I help him Shadow?" Star laughed and pulled him out with a surprising amount of strength. "Let me show you how its done." Star dove under, going quite deep. Air bubbles popped up on the surface as fiery red hair flowed around her face.

[Dark**Light]

I watched as she swam in the water. Shadow stuck her nose in the water then quickly pulled it out and snuffed. I thought I must be crazy then dove in. Shadow thought what do you think you are doing!? Jack get back here! I swam down beside her and realized I could hold my breath for a vary long time. I grabbed Star's hand and started to swim deeper with no hesitation.

[Harley]

She laughed as he pulled her deeper. A flash of blinding light, then Star was a red haired mermaid with a hell red tail. "Ha!" She laughed and breathed out a bubble, which eased its way into his mouth. "Breath."

[Dark**Light]

I was just about to swim up for air when an air bubble came into my mouth. I inhaled and said "Thanks. I needed that. Not kidding either." I laughed and pulled out my sword. It glistened in the water. I tilted it into the light so that it sent a beam of light up to the surface. I laughed when I saw Shadow start to play with it. The sword quickly slipped out of my hands and fell to the bottom of the fountain. I said "Oh no! That sword was given to me by my grandfather! He died in a battle for Shadow...as an egg. He entrusted me with the egg until he won the battle. But while the battle was occurring Shadow hatched. After the battle, realizing that I was destined to become a dragon rider gave me the sword of my great great great great uncle Eragon. He was also a dragon rider." I dove deeper and soon felt the pressure taking it's toll on me. I fell unconscious while under the water. I still could breath and my hand was on the sword. The last thing I heard and saw was Shadow above the water screaming Jack! I heard her voice soften and say again Jack.

[Harley]

Star listened carefully and laughed when Shadow starting playing with the beam of light. She sighed when he dropped his sword, but listened to the story anyway. "Ja-" But he had already fallen unconscious. The bubble only lasted 20 minutes, of which it had already been 18. She broke the surface, sucked in air. She wasn't pure mermaid who could stay under forever, she still needed air. It would take her a while to get to him, so she started her furious swim down.

[Dark**Light]

I woke up to see Star swimming down. I inhaled but only inhaled water. I coughed and grabbed my sword. I started to slowly swim toward Star when all of a sudden I got a bust of energy and vigorously swam to Star. I was about to grab her hand when I started to fall. I swam as hard as I could and grabbed her hand. I had run out of air and fell unconscouis again. This time Star had my hand and I had my sword. I wasn't completely out. I could still hear everything and I could have a small grip on Star and my sword. I saw light and soon was out cold.

[Harley]

I pulled him up towards air and put him on the edge of the fountain. I pumped on his chest, and when that didn't work well, I sighed and turned into an elf. "Shadow? I am not a doctor!" Star tried slapping him, but that didn't work well either. "Seriously. You could of asked me Jack." She sighed and lay back, hoping he was just out cold and there wasn't any water in his lungs.

[Dark**Light]

I woke up and coughed up water. I looked at my surroundings and saw Shadow. She said What were you thinking! You could've killed us! She sighed and lied down. I looked in my hand and saw my sword. I thought to myself YES! I got it and didn't die! That's an achievement! I smiled and saw Star. I almost dropped my sword back into the fountain but my good reflexes caught it. I sighed in relief and said "Well, that was quite the adventure! And by the way...Thanks for saving me. I could've killed myself and Shadow. It was dangerous and if you weren't there I..(I looked at Shadow and she glared at me. Then I corrected myself) WE could've died." I sat up and felt a pain in my arm. I looked and saw that it was broken. I cast the spell Waise Haile and was healed. My arm felt much better. Then I slipped and fell back into the fountain. I quickly pulled myself out and laughed.

[Harley]

She glared at him along with Shadow. "You could of asked me! It wasn't worth the risk." Star flashed and in a moment a huge white tiger was standing over him, a paw on his chest. She looked at Shadow and shook her head. The shape shifter flashed and was gone, not gone, but just small. The small being landed in Jack's hair. "This form helps calm me." The small Star squeaked and yanked on his hair.

[Dark**Light]

I said "Ow! Ow! Ow! OK I'm sorry! You're right I should've asked you! Now could you please stop pulling my hair!" I pulled her out and threw her into the fountian. Once I realized what I had done I said"Oh My Gosh! I'm so sorry!" I reached in the fountain and pulled out the tiny speck and put her on she ground. I said "Would you please forgive me? I'd really appreciate it. Along with if you wouldn't pull my hair!" I looked at her and felt a small laugh coming on. I held it back and looked at her. Or at least what I thought was her.

[Harley]

She dried her wings and let fire shoot from her small fingers, it just stung his face, nothing serious. The red haired elf appeared again, her arms and legs crossed, she glared at him angrily from her sitting position. "I guess." She stood and put her hair behind an ear. "Now what?" The elf asked, sounding annoyed. "Oh, I have an idea." She smiled and in a moment, Jack was looking at a clone of himself. "So this is what a male human form feels like. By the way, if I am near the form I am, I hear what they think, feel what they feel, and like what they like."

[Dark**Light]

"Hey Hey Hey! I never knew I looked sooooo much like my great great great...you get the point, uncle Eragon!" I let my mind go blank and lied down. I thought about Star. She was the most beautiful person I had ever seen. I then realized that she probably heard all that. I sat up and said "So much for privacy." Shadow laughed and said I guess not! At least I have some privacy. Except for the fact that I can hear everything you think and vise versa. I laughed and patted Shadow. I hopped onto her back and flew into the sky.We didn't show off or anything. It was just to get cooled off. The breeze rushed against our faces. I cast another spell and was soon able to see what Shadow saw. She looked at Star and grinned. I looked at her and smiled.

[Harley]

"You're thinking that just because I can hear it." She smirked and flashed into Shadow, and followed them up. "Let's see how fast your reflexes are." Was all she said and started blinking. In a flash, she was her flightless elf self and was falling. She just let her hair whistle around her face as she waited. Grey eyes followed his, which were getting farther and farther away.

[Dark**Light]

I screamed in my thoughts Star! Shadow..GO! Shadow responded in her battle voice and said With pleasure!. She dove down as quickly as she could and grabbed Star with one of her claws. She tossed Star onto her back. Her back was slippery from the humidity. I was expecting Star to slip so I didn't hold onto the saddle. I held onto Star. I started to slip and soon fell off. As I fell of I let go of Star and screamed "Hold on to Shadow, Star!". Then Shadow screamed Jack! You're ridiculous! Hold on!. She grabbed me with her claw and tossed me towards her tail. Then she whipped me,not very hard though, with her tail. I shot right into the saddle and Shadow said Works every time. Always perfect aim right Jack? I responded with Well you were a bit off this time...but I still landed in the saddle. Shadow glared at me then I said I was kidding! You were spot on. Shadow responded with That's better. Shadow landed near the fountain and grabbed me by my collar with her mouth. I told Star to go to the fountain. Shadow laughed and put me down. What was that for, Shadow?! I said. Then Shadow responded and said It was just a joke.(her tone sharpened) And a lesson! Always listen to me when I tell you to do something! You could've killed us both! You die...I die. I'm to young to die! Anyways, know that the dragon is in charge! We're stronger, bigger and sometimes...SMARTER!

[Harley]

Star laughed and sat on the edge of the fountain. "You realize that if you didn't catch me, that I would just transform into something different to save myself." She smiled and patted Jack's shoulder. In a soft tone, she titled her head and said, " What now?"
