Alone At Last... Or Am I? (Please respond!)
~Rose Heart~
My slim form cantered in silently, my body moving with the absolute grace, power, and beauty of a dancer. I toss my head with a snort, flagging my tail behind me. My multicolored body slowed to a prancing trot as I entered a gorgeous meadow. A cliff rose jaggedly out of the earth across from me, a waterfall freefalling from it to a small, clear pond below. From the pond was a silver river that twisted like a snake, disappearing into the forest that surrounded the meadow.
I reach down with my head to inspect the grass, liquid silver from the light of the full moon pouring over it. I sigh and snort again, lifting my head once more to inspect the valley again. The night was silent, the only sounds the gentle waterfall and the wind whispering through the treetops. I toss my head and prance nervously over to the pond. I lower my head, my muzzle creating ripples throughout the pond as it touched it. The water was soothing to my parched, raw throat.
Suddenly I had the feeling of being watched. I raise my head, the whites of my eyes showing, and look around me. Standing on a tree bare of any leaves, sat a large black raven.
The bird examined me with cold, evil eyes, and for a moment I could not move. I felt as if someone were grasping my throat, cutting off my air supply, and I was unable to breathe... I shake my head, eyes wild, and scream a rough whinny into the air, the sound holding an edge of desperation to it. The raven raised its dark beak into the sky, and screamed an answering call to my fierce neigh, lifting up into the sky. My voice echoed strangely over the silent land as clouds covered the moon, blocking out the stars and all light. The raven angled towards me, its eyes evil and cold. I felt a ripping feeling as its beak tore at my neck, and I lifted up into the air, sharp hooves striking out at it. I missed, and I threw everything I could at it. But none of my powers seemed to work...
I cried out in fustration, landing on all fours and kicking powerfully up at the black bird. By then, it was high in the sky, blending in with the dark.
Gone.
I watched the black sky with fearful eyes, standing silently, still, until the first rays of sun touched the sky.

I watch the sky begin to light up as the sun rose, the dark clouds drifting away. I sigh and lower my head to the water, touching my lips to it. Yet I do not drink. I canter around teh meadow for a few minutes, head raised, ears pricked forward. I whinny loudly, hoping someone nearby would hear...
