The wild mare was grazing peacefully with her moderately sized herd in the mountains of Montana, when she heard a far off chopping sound. She pricked her ears and lifted her head, trying to detect where this familiar sound was coming from. She heard this sound constantly, almost every week. She had always heard the sound before, but never discovered what it was.

When the chopping sound grew louder, the mare's curiosity shifted to a fear. She could sense the tension and fear all around her that her herd-mates were emitting. The chopping sound soon became unbearable and deafening. She could barely hear her herd's high neighs. Then a shadow blanketed the brown colored field, and a flying monster towered over the herd. The mare's instincts and adrenaline suddenly caused her to snap into action. She bolted in the direction away from the horrifying creature. The herd reacted the same, running away.

The herd galopped for about ten miles. An unfamiliar structure fell into vision. The herd's fear drove them on, despite the strange structure. They ran closer, and another horse was released, and led the herd into a fenced in area. The slamming of the gates behind her echoed in her ears as her freedom was stolen away from her.

The mare slid to a stop when for the first time in her life, there was no way to go around the object in her way. She neighed loudly to the horses that were rounded up with her. She reared up at the fence. She trotted around the small space in exasperation, looking for a way out.

eventually, the mare settled down, exhausted from the ten mile run and the anxiety. She stood there, head low, and sides heaving.

"Mr. Bradly please listen to me. I know payment is do on the ranch but....You don't understand how times are right now. I promise I'll have the money in by the end of the month." Allison hung the phone up and sighed holding her head In her hands. Ever since yer father died ah was given full responsibility over the ranch. The ranch used to be one of the best for rodeo Broncos, by all that had went down the drain as his health desinigrated.

Ever since she was ound Allison had learned how to act around horses and how to take care of them. It had been a few years zinc she had been to a wild horse auction and she had been hearing of one coming up. She disagreed with how they took them but she knew it was life. As she left the ranch she called son of the farmhands and told them she would be back In a few days.

As she came closer to the horse corrals she saw the orange fencing keeping them in. When she walked up to the fence she glance around looking for the perfect horse until her eyes landed on a beautiful mustang mare that was splattered with brown.

The the quiet sound of afternoon soon was replaced by a loud murmuring. Strange beings moved about, often pointing their fingers in her direction. she was spooked at first and very timid, but she grew used to the commotion, and continued to stand with her head low. The mare let out a huff of air through her nostrils and the loose layer of dirt scattered. A speck of dust found it way up her nose and the mare snorted and shook her mane. a fly landed on her flank and she swished her tail.

(should this be a silent auction or not? i think it is done both ways)

Allison looked at the other horses in the orange pen but her eyes still landed on the mare. All the other horses were still spooked and still running around like a mad animal. She looked around and saw other people pointing at the mare as she just stood there.

The wild mare was so subdued and depressed from losing her freedom at this point, that she almost appeared ill. Then, a big muscular figure opened a gate. it was not the same she ran into, but to the wild mare, it meant freedom. She jolted her head up, and her ears stood erect on her head. The mare grew restless again as the man fiddled with the gate. As soon as it was opened, she bolted through the door, only to enter another, smaller enclosure. It was closer to the crowd. All the murmuring creatures looked at her. they seemed to prod at her with their eyes. The mare felt exposed. like a zoo animal. there was no where for her to hide to get out of sight. she restlessly turned in circles, searching this new pen for an opening. she huffed and snorted in great frustration and agitation.

Allison watched as they began auctioning off the wild horses. When the man let the mare go into the smaller pen she walked to the back of the crowd and stayed standing up. She remembered coming to these auctions when she was little when she thought of the way the other horses were treated. Allison leaned against a wall and watched some people shaking their heads most likely they were the ones who wouldn't bid.

The mare continued to thrash around in the small space. She needed her freedom. A man then started shouting and yelled gibberish really fast. The mare pawed at the ground and tossed her head ike a bull about to charge, and dust flew up around her.

When the auction started so did the bidding people began to those their hands or cards. Once people slowed down bidding Allison started raising her card. As the amount of money got higher more people dropped out but Allison kept going. She didn't know why she needed to buy that mare she just knew she had to.

The mare directed attention towards the odd contraptions being thrown in the air. She stood there, mesmerized. The mare was a curious one too. then, another man opened another gate. This time, the mare knew that she wouldnt be freed. she was smart and clever too. She walked into another bigger pen, where there were other horses too. she was filled with joy to be with other horses again, but she only stayed there for an hour or so, then the man stepped inside.

He had a long coiled rope in his hands. The mare perked her ears in interest. Then, the man whirled the rope around in the air. She spooked and she and the rest of the horses cantered around the ring. a hissing sound whizzed above the mare and fear shot through her. her big eyes showed it all. Then, the hissing sound again, like a snake flying over her. Then the rope fell over her strong neck and tightened as she took another cantering stride. The mare slid to a stop, as the others continued to canter around. She lashed her head about and reared up. The more she moved about, the more the restricted her neck became, and soon it was hard to breath. The mare slowed to a walk and then stopped. She allowed herself to be led out of the pen and onto open grounds. She bolted for freedom, but the rope caught her neck, and she was pulled back in.

After hours of protesting and rearing, squealing, bucking, kicking and biting, The mare was finally loaded into the metal enclosure, where she would be driven to her new home. Well, thats what it is called anyways.

Once the auction was over she paid the money for the mare and watched as she was lead into the pen with the rest of the sold horses. When she got back outside she got the trailer unlocked and opened it for the people who were wrangling the horse up. She stood there and watched as they fought with the mare to get her into the trailer. Once in they locked it back but instead of getting into the truck and driving off, Allison walked along the side of the trailer and got a closer look at the mare.

Allison watched her for a moment more before getting into the truck and driving to the ranch. After about a half an hour she pulled onto a dirt road and backed the trailer into a large pen with a very high fence. She opened the trailer and waited for the mare to go into the pen.

The mare was aware of the creature looking at her. she gave a snort, and continued to look froward. the fear was drained form her eyes enough so that one could see expressions on her face, but she still had a tint of fear in her. When the odd creature peered in at her, the mare felt trapped and vulnerable, and backed her rump into the back and spooked her self a bit. after she had settled down, she stood there, not sure what her fate was to become.

when the trailer pulled into the dirt driveway, the mare lifted her head and perked her ears. she did not hear other horses, but she did hear other animals. then, she saw the creature walk around and unlatch the back. The mare gingerly felt her way down the ramp and backed out of the trailer. then she picked up a trot and trotted around the pen, taking in all the sihgts, smells, and sounds. she was still shocked from her experience earlier today, but now she was just glad to be out of the rattling silver trailer.

After locking the gate and putting the truck and trailer up she took care of the other animals on the ranch. After about three hours Allison made her way back to the pen and slowly walked in the pen and relocked the gate. She sat down near the fencing but stayed where the mare could see her and started to click her rouge a few times to get her attention and tossed an apple out to her.

(Ugh sorry.)

And then a dreamy man named mulhorny walked up to her, took her by the waist, and led her to the bedroom. They were in there for several hours and none of the horses knew what to do they could only hear moaning. They were so worried that they rammed down the door and trotted into the room. When they saw what mulhorny was doing they gasped then trotted towards the two. The horse saw Allison and eating some delicious cookies and mulhorny making laughing moaning noises. Mulhorny was her long lost brother. They spent the rest of the remembering great old times and baking more cookies together.

after an hour or so, the pinto mare settled down and was very tired. She lowered her head and drifted off. Then, when the girl who had taken her here, clicked, the mare awoke, and pricked her ears at the noise. She snorted, and turned her head back. Then she tossed an apple, and the mare pricked her ears again, eyeing the red object. she pretended to not be interested, but her curiosity was bugging her to step towards the apple. After about 5 minutes, the mare couldnt stand it anymore and she took a cautious step in the direction on the apple. She was aware of the creature there too, but the apple held the majority of her interest for the moment.

Allison watched the mare as she eyed the apple and laughed to herself. "It's not going to hurt you, it's a treat." Her looked around the pen then back to the mare and watched her with interest. Usually when she did this the horse would freak out and run the pen forcing her to leave. She saw some of the ranch hands come up and watch through the fenceing.

The mare became sort of spooked by all of the people, and became more wary and jitterish, but the apple intrigued her. She took another step closer and another and another. She kept her head low and finally she sniffed the dusty apple. her whiskers touching it.

She watched her sniff the apple and slowly stood up not wanting to spook her. She looked around before looking at the ranch hands some of them going away then two or three of them came into the pen with some lassos. One of the ranch hands starts to swing the rope around and threw it towards the mare.

The mare shot her head up when a man raised a lasso again, just like at the other place. The mare's curiosity in her eyes turned to fear and she reared up, and in a panic, started to canter around. Then she heard the heart stopping hiss of the rope, and it landing over her head. The mare was very panicky and thrashed about with the rope around her neck. she began to buck and whirl around in every direction. she whinnied in fear.

Allison watched as she struggled then the two other ranch hands lassoed her also and fought to keep their hold on her. "She'll calm down in a few just give her some time." She watched the mare struggle she didn't like this part of breaking but she had to.

The mare continued to struggle. the rope felt like no predator she had ever encountered before in the wild. This predator was fast and quick and could seize her in one strike. She feared it at it clinched her neck tighter and tighter. She thrashed her head about, trying to get the rope to loosen. She was not as tired as she was before when she was seized by a rope the first time. she had rested before this, and now the mare was determined. She pawed at the ground in frustration and threw her head.
