Shadow walked briskly, his pads where bleeding from the long journey. His head hang low as he quickly walked uncomfortable. Dominic, for the first time in his life, wasn't a shadow to some one...he didn't like it. Coming up with a idea he got off the old warn down deer trail path and walked beside trees, I'm their little shadow now! He thought and it made him feel slightly better but Shadow would never forget his family and looking at Helper as she took her dying breath. Thinking about it mad him shiver. Soon her stopped at a safe looking spot wedged between roots where he was sure no coyote could hurt him. He laid down to rest licking his aching pads. His small stomach growled, he hadn't eaten in half a day! He wanted his momma's milk so badly! Or at least the regerated meat he had been being starting to eat as he was weened. But he couldn't have either, his family was dead, Mother, Father, Helper, Leader-His older bro-, Hunter-Older Bro-, and Silver-His grandma-........all dead. He was completely alone, he missed his family, even if he never knew their real names...just their nicks. Sighing sadly he laid on his side slowly closing his eyes to rest, chest lefting up slower and slower till he was dozed off into a light sleep.

The large male walked through the trees, his thick pelt making the already large male look even larger. Though, despite his size, he was a kind wolf. Yes, he coud be harsh,but he was kind. Many often mistook him for a mean, cruel wolf because of his size, but he wasn't like that at all. The large wolf stepped around the trees, wondering what he should do now. There was nothing to do at the moment, afterall, he had no pack to go to yet. He was a loner.
Soon, the male spotted a dark lump of fur hidden int he shadows of the trees and he stopped, cocking his head to the side. After a moment, he walked over to the smal pup and nudged him with his wet nose. "Are youlost, little one?" he asked, "where is your mother? Your father?" he asked, watching the small black up and laying down to be closer to the little one's height so he wasn't so itimidated by him. Like most pups were.

Shadow awoke with a cold noise pressed on him as a stranger nudged him, timidly he hid in the shadows. He didn't like strangers no matter the size. "N-no sir." He squeaked, "M-m--my family is-he gulped hard but couldnt finish his sentence-my family is..." His quite sad scard voice traild off before a small yawn forced its way out. No! They are not! No Shadow, your family is alive! They are! He lied to himself in his mind but it was no use at all. He had to accept the cold harsh, bitter truth of reality.

The male looked at the little pup and gave a soft whine at his words, knowing he he meant. His family was gone. They had been killed. When the pup trailed off, the reached over and nosed the pup. "It's alright, there is no nee to tell me. Not until you'e ready," he said with a soft smile. He watched the pup and rested his head onhis paws. "Did you want to come with me? i may not be as good as your mother or father, but I can protect you and get you food," he said, smiling at the pup and waiting for an answer.

Shadow eyed him carefully and felt better as his nature camr clear, he was a kind fellow. His ears perked at his words and he nodded silently. Giving a quite yip he came out into view. He listened to the offer and stuttered, "O-ok" and stood up moving closer to him, "I'm Domic, but e-every one calls-he paused for a sad moment- called me Shadow." He said quietly with saddens welled up in his words, it's going to be ok now. He told himself trying to feel better.
