Re: Terrified To Die [R] (~-Making Mirrors-~ )
Fate shook her head at Connor's words though she looked away. "I'm sure you had your reasons to do so. I just wish I hadn't witnessed it is all," she said, staring through the trees to the distant river. She sighed and looked back at Connor. "Connor, there is no need for you to apologise. I mean, the royal family is the one that had done something so terrible to you guys that you had to commit such an act," Fate sid. Which was kind of a lie, but also the truth. Someone wouldn't murder someone for no good reason, would they? But that didn't mean she had to like that Connor and the rest of the bandits destroyed her home and the only life she knew.
Fate watched the man before she sighed. She ran a hand through her hair lightly and closed her eyes for a moment and took in a deep breath. When she opened them again, the reddish colour sparked brighter for a moment before it died down back to her original colour. She, obviously didn't know, though. Fate had no idea whether she had any sort of magical abilities or if she was just human. Though, she had never even considered she had asny sort of magic. She had only ever thought herself a normal, if not just average girl born into a wealthy family.
"Don't you think that you're being a bit harsh on yourself?" Fate asked softly, "i've only been here for not even a whole day, and I can see you seperate yourself from everybody else.. Like you don't want to get close to anybody. Hwoever, it also seems you want to break free from all this," she looked away for a quick moment, "I may be wrong, but that's how I see it. That's how you seem to me," She said, glancing back at him, hoping she didn't anger him with her words. She hadn't meant for it to be like that.

Re: Terrified To Die [R] (~-Making Mirrors-~ )
The man was surprised at how well Fate handled the situation. She spoke smoothly, as if she was asking how the weather was and like he was no more than a family friend. He was impressed, actually. Connor nodded minutely, the motion barely noticeable. He had had a reason, didn't he? The thought plagued him, and he tried to think of something else. His gaze never left her, even as she closed her eyes. When the girl's eyelids fluttered back again, her eyes danced in a bright flash of crimson. Connor's eyes widened and then narrowed as he focused. Each second took the color further away, however, and they returned to their normal color. He frowned and canted his head slightly. Connor's jaw slacked as he went to say something, then snapped closed when she spoke once again. For a moment, everything relating to the girl's odd eyes faded from his mind. Her voice was like a music as she told him her theory. It was about him, she had been thinking about it too. Someone had actually taken the time to see things his way.
He couldn't help the smile that brightened his face. It erased anything menacing about him and for a moment he looked just as amiable as his older brother. The moment of delight faded though, and Connor's lips returned to their emotionless position. He lowered his gaze to his boots and shook his head slightly. "There's something different about you, Fate," he started, pausing only to gather his wits about him. Connor had intended to say more but the words didn't come. The man just left it hanging. The pools of emeralds that were his eye turned back up to those unique brown ones and he saw no judgement. For a moment he actually thought of her as a friend. No, that wasn't possible.
A smile licked at his features but never fully blossomed. "Thank you."

Fate watched Connor's expression before a smile lit up his features. She blinked in surprise and just stared at him. A few moments later, He spoke, saying that she was different. She cocked her head to the side, confused. How was she different? No. Fate was just a normal girl, who had happened to be born into royalty. She didn't count herself even as a princess in normal situations; only when the need arose for her to be would she truely be one. She gave a light shake of her head and went to say something back to him but he spoke again. His words shocked her her. 'Thank you'. Fate stared at him for a long moment before letting out a soft breath and she shook her head.
"There is nothing for you to thank me for. I've done nothing of merit," Fate replied lightly before she gave him a hesitant smile. She glanced past him as noise from the group increased. Obviously, they were about to leave. Fate gave a light nod to Connor, "excuse me, I think we're leaving now," she said and then walked past him, her shoulder burshing his arm lightly as she walked over to the group as they started to leave, the leader watching her for a short moment before they moved off, Fate following them in silence.
Connor was indeed a strange man; different from what she was used to.

Re: Terrified To Die [R] (~-Making Mirrors-~ )
Connor shook his head, as if dismissing her words as easy as brushing away a speck of dust.
"No, I do. I thank you with good reason," he hadn't managed to finish before the sound of men roared louder. He frowned, and glanced back. Her voice danced across his ears and Connor turned back. Reluctance rooted his boots to the earth. The man nodded, and watched as she walked away. When she touched him, a strange feeling raged inside him. It was both anger and excitement, hatred and contentedness. What was with this girl? Had anyone else touched him in such a way they'd be on the ground writhing in pain. For a long moment, nothing registered to Connor. He stood ramrod straight with his back to the group. The curious man's emerald eyes gazing calmly into the shadow's abyss.
"Connor!" Kayle's booming voice made the man flinch. "Brother, we are leaving. Unless you plan to make friends with the tree, come on!"
The raven haired man sighed and turned silently on the heels of his boots. A warm smile flashed across Kayle's bearded face and he waited for Connor to reach him. Something hung over the brother's heads as they walked, though, and it bothered Connor. Occasionally, the man caught himself resting his gaze in Fate's direction. It's not that he found her overly attractive, although she was, it was that she seemed to know him. Just two days had passed, and Connor felt the need to listen to her stories and tell her his.

Re: Terrified To Die [R] (~-Making Mirrors-~ )
Fate looked at the group as they walked and watched as two men came to walk beside her. She watched them for a few minutes before she turned her attention to the ground. She sighed softly before she looked up as she felt someone's gaze upon her. She looked up and around the group to see Connor looking right at her. She held is gaze for a few moments before she looked away, not wanting to hold his gaze for too long and for fear that the leader might notice and get angry.
She stared at the ground as she walked, studying the footprints from the men infront of her. She was so out of place and she felt like everyone was watching her. Which, not everyone was, but a few were still looking at her. She shook her head and then raised it, looking straight ahead and deciding to ignore everyone. It was the best course of action, right?
Fate had no idea how long they had been walking, but the distance didn't really bother her. Neither did the time. Her mind was blank, she had nothing to think of. Well, she did, but at that moment, she couldn't think of anything. actually.. The whole they had been walking, she didn't have anything pass through her mind. Just a blank canvas, ready to be painted. Empty.
Sighing, Fate suddenly tripped over something and she fell forward. However, a firm hand gripped her arm and held her steady before she fell onto the ground. She righted herself and then looked at the man. It was the man who had ahrrassed her and she stared up hi before shrugging him off. "Thank you," she said calmly before she nodded her head at him and stepped away, trying to ignore the sickening feeling in her gut when she stood next to him.

Re: Terrified To Die [R] (~-Making Mirrors-~ )
[[ Sorry that took so long, I went back to refresh my memory a bit ]]
Connor noticed Fate becoming uncomfortable and turned his gaze away.
He didn't want her to think he was anything like the brutes he associated with. He drew his bottom lip up between his teeth and slowed his pace, falling behind the group so that he could walk in silence. Fate and Kayle were walking ahead of him, and the rest of the group were ahead of them. He sighed thickly, comforted by the fact that they couldn't hear or see him. Their silence pleased him. Connor wasn't one for strength or power, but when it came to endurance he was well equipped. While the others, especially those plagued with a recent mug of ale, huffed and puffed along, Connor strode with a royal elegance, never once faltering against the prolonged travel.
He lifted his chin slightly towards the sky. It was nearing the evening, and he assumed they would find somewhere to stay for the night. If he knew his brother at all, and he did, Kayle would want a few hours of daylight to either drown in mead or have his way with one of the women in the camp. There weren't many, and most of them were very unappealing, but they were women and Kayle always lusted for such things. None of the females even spared a glance in Connor's direction, and he wouldn't have met their eyes if they did. They were rowdy, distasteful strumpets.
A branch crackled and there was the soft sound of weight meeting the ground clumsily. He turned and looked in the direction of the sound, predicting its owner to be intoxicated. It was Fate however, which truly surprised him. Connor tensed as a man touched her arm and stepped towards them. He released her though, and Connor found himself dumbfounded by the fact he had even cared. Once again, the woman was changing him. He just didn't know if it was for the better or not.
"Connor," Kayle's thundering voice sounded beside him and he jumped with surprise.
"Kayle, I did not hear you approaching." Connor glared over at him. He wasn't upset, just flustered by recent events. "My apologies brother, I was wondering where you'd like to set camp. Here might be nice, but I'm worried it will get too cold." He grinned like a fool and clapped a hand against his smaller brother's back.
"Here will be fine, I assure you it will remain a comfortable temperature." He nodded. Kayle turned and told one of his friends, who sent the message along the others until they came to a full stop and began setting up their tents and unpacking their belongings.

Re: Terrified To Die [R] (~-Making Mirrors-~ )
Fate jumped at the sound of Kayle's voice, which had somehow ended up behind her. She glanced back, unsure of how he had gotten there. With a sigh, she looked ahead again, deciding to ignore the two brothers and to keep on walking. A minute later, someone came round to tell everyone they were camping here for the night and Fate sighed in relief. She was tired. Not because of all the walking; she was used to that. Actually, she had no idea why she felt tired, but she'd let it slide, she knew she'd be fine. She watched the men as they all stopped and started to unpack their belongings and she looked around, unsure of what she should do. She ran a hand through her hair with a sigh and walked to the edge of the group and leaned against a tree. She didn't like the idea of sitting down at that moment.
Fate looked over at Connor and Kayle for a long while, just watched them, before she turned her dark gaze away from them, to look to the side, through the trees. She wondered what was through them, where it would lead to and if she'd ever be able to escape from these bandits. No. Probably not. Which scared her. She didn't want to stay here. She had no idea what was going to happen to her around all these men. And they were bandits.
Fate gave a light shake of her head and then her attention was snapped back to a man who stood infront of her, breath stinking of alcohol. She didn't know how long she had just been standing there, but by the lack of sun and the campfires, she had guessed for an hour or so. The man reached towards her, but she stepped to the side, not knowing what he would do if he got ahold of her. However, the man's face contorted in a mixture of anger and desperation. He lunged towards her, hands outstretched and Fate stepped back again, only to run into another drunk man. Her brows furrowed in surprise and she looked up at him. He went to wrap his arms around her, to keep her captive, but she ducked under his arms, only her hair grazing his hold. She stumbled forward and straightened, turning to face them.
There were only the two of them. Fate glanced back and noticed, properly, that she was a fair way away from the camp. And these men had taken full advantage to that most people wouldn't notice. Fate looked abck at them, watching as they came towards her. Fate looked back and then walked towards the rest of the groups. The men followed her, seeming to not see the group.

Re: Terrified To Die [R] (~-Making Mirrors-~ )
Connor stepped forward quietly, hoping to be left alone to rest until the morning.
He ran a hand through his dark hair and released a tired breath. A hand touched his elbow, and Connor leapt with surprise. He grabbed the hand and twisted it backwards. Kayle cried out and shoved his brother off of him, who stumbled slightly before bumping against a tree and steadying himself. "You shouldn't sneak up on me," he growled, and pushed himself away from the bark. Connor dusted himself off and glared at the burly man before him. "I'm worried about you, brother," Kayle shook his head, and approached the dark man without trepidation.
"There's no need."
"That's twice, Connor. I've tried to scare you before and failed, yet I've accidentally snuck up on you twice today." Kayle argued.
His brother shook his head and stepped back. "I don't need your concern, I'm not weak." Connor sighed and glared at Kayle. "I can handle myself," he added.
"Fate's not yours to court." Kayle stated and Connor swallowed hard. He shook his head and glanced behind him. "I'm not courting her, I'm helping her. She doesn't want your groping hands."
With that, he walked away from the argument and sat down at a makeshift table. Those who had been sitting there promptly stood and left, recognizing the anger boiling inside him. They thought he had lost his powers, but they still feared him. Even if he was the leanest, and seemingly weakest person there. Without his magic, some of the women could beat him in a brawl.

Re: Terrified To Die [R] (~-Making Mirrors-~ )
(all good and sorry I left, went to Carrara markets with mum and friend)
(Sss)
Fate looked back at the two men as they followed her into the campsite, their drunken state making them not notice where they were. They stumbled forward and made a grab for her, but Fate basically danced around them. They grumbled their anger and their greedy hands stretched to grab her arm, which she skirted away from with a grin. These guys were far too gone to catch up to her. They were practically falling over each other. It was amusing her how they thought they could catch her when they were drunk.
Fate smirked as they both lunged towards her and fell over on top of one another. She looked down at them as they tried to untangle their limbs from one another. She gave a small wave, just for teasing measure, which seemed to anger them even more for their failure. She spun around and strode off, a skip almost to her step.
She looked around the camp, unsure of what she should do now. She sighed softly and wondered what she was going to do tonight. She went over and grabbed just a simple piece of bread, suddenly thankful for her lack of appetite. Even when she was young, Fate never ate much. She took a bite and looked around, her brown eyes scanning the campsite. Kayle was no where in sight which was only mildly surprising. However, she did notice Connor sitting by himself, clearly angry about something.
Curiosity got the better of her and she went over and sat opposite the table. "Are you alright? What's wrong?" she asked softly, weary of what he might try to do if she asked the wrong way.

Re: Terrified To Die [R] (~-Making Mirrors-~ )
Connor's brooding was interrupted when he heard Fate's unique footsteps.
Great, so now you're memorizing her walking pattern? Fool. You're such a fool. He gritted his teeth and turned his eyes away from her as she sat across from him.
"You shouldn't be here," was all he said, lifting his legs onto the bench. He reclined himself so that he lay along the seat, his height forcing the majority of his legs to rest off the bench. Connor did want her company, but he didn't want his brother any more upset with him. No matter how much he tried to convince himself otherwise, Connor cared for Kayle, and he hoped his brother felt the same. Then again, he never seemed to show it. The thought flustered Connor and he lifted his forearm across his face.

Re: Terrified To Die [R] (~-Making Mirrors-~ )
Fate watched Connor for a moment and she groaned at his words and then folded her arms across her chest, watching as he laid back and rested his forearm across his face. "So what? I should try to escape?" she asked with a smirk. She knew clearly what he meant, but she was trying to get him to be a bit more responsive. Fate sighed and leaned forward, now resting her arms on the table. "Talk to me, Connor. I want to know what's made you so angry; I don't like it when you're like this. It's like you hate the whole world yet you don't know how to escape," she said lightly, watching him before she sighed.
She leaned back, waiting for him to speak, however, he didn't and she sighed again before she stood up. "If you really don't want to talk, I shall leave," Fate said lightly before she turned to leave. Honestly, she didn't want to leave. She wanted him to talk to her; to confide in her about his problems, which was strange. She shouldn't be like that, but she was.
However, she knew he wouldn't. She was just a stranger, and one he probably hated at that. Why would he speak to her about something that was bothering him?

Connor shook his head at her pressing questions.
As she stood to leave, he shifted his arm from his eyes and glanced over at her. "You can't run from the world, Fate. No one can." He spoke timidly, which was unusual for him. Once he was sure she heard him, Connor turned and replaced his arm over his face. Even in this strange position, he appeared regal and charming. Why did she even care? The fact that she longed to know what frustrated him interested, angered, and pleased him all at once. What was he supposed to do? Tell her and then be scolded by his brother for speaking with her? Kayle would claim Connor was trying to 'court' her. What a concept! Connor courting a female, especially one his brother had claimed as his own! The man sighed and took his arm away, gazing up at the sky. It was a gorgeous blend of red and blue hues and shades that danced like and cradled each other like lovers in a ballroom.

Re: Terrified To Die [R] (~-Making Mirrors-~ )
Fate was surprised at his words and she paused, thinking for a moment and watching him as he covered his face again for a few moments before looking up at the sky. She sighed and looked at him for a moment more before saying, "I do realize that, Connor. But it does not stop someone from trying. And who knows? If one tries hard enough, they may be able to escape. All they need to do is try and believe they can get away," she looked at him one last moment before she walked off. She had no idea why she was saying that to Connor, however, that's the way she felt.
Surely, if one tries hard enough to escape and they truly believe they can, they will. It was one thing Fate believed to be true.
Fate sighed and went to lean against a tree near a couple tables. She leaned her head back against the bark and closed her eyes. Where would she end up in the next week? Dead, or still at the mercy of these bandits? Or maybe she would finally escape them and be free to go somewhere and try to find somewhere to live. She knew she wouldn't get her revenge on them within such a short period. So trying to figure a way out would be easier... Wouldn't it?
Fate sighed and opened her eyes, looking towards the edge of the camp, where she saw Kayle walking back from where ever he had been.

Re: Terrified To Die [R] (~-Making Mirrors-~ )
Connor released his breath as she walked off, and he shifted to watch her go.
You just need the key, he whispered to himself. His chest ached. Not from a fight or a fall, but because there was a hole growing there. Big and deep and black, consuming everything he was terrified to lose within himself. When the things you want people to see in you are destroyed, what are you then? A shell? Or maybe a monster, something to be feared and avoided. Shaking his head, Connor sat up and combed his fingers through his hair. This was becoming all together too complicated. Nostalgia was beginning to gnaw at his bones for a time when Kayle and Connor could race through the forest, pursued by the imaginary villains that were always too slow, too weak, or too dim-witted to touch them.
Kayle stepped out from the treeline and into the camp, his hair slightly disheveled and a thin layer of sweat pooled in the crook of his neck. He glanced around for Fate and was relieved when he saw her. She was looking towards him also, so he offered her an amiable smile before turning his attention to the others. They had set up a small feast of bread and harvested foods. It would have to do for now.

Re: Terrified To Die [R] (~-Making Mirrors-~ )
Fate studied Kayle for a while and when he looked towards her and gave a smile, Fate gave a small smile in response. She was unsure of what she should do now. There was nothing to do and no where she could go. She looked over at Connor again and watched him for a moment before she glanced over at Kayle. Had something happened between the two of them? Is that why Connor was so pissed? Fate sighed and stepped back, away from the light of the campfire and into the tree line.
She turned and walked through the trees, feeling the difference in moisture in the earth. She gave a soft sigh, touching the bark of some trees absentmindedly and ducking under spiderwebs and low hanging branches. She was lucky she barely left any trail, but she knew if they wanted to, they would find her. Fate sighed and walked around the trees and then made her way out of the treeline, coming to a calm, gentle river.
She sat down near the water, dipping her feet into the cold water. She stared at the other side and wondered what she should do.
The sound of owls came to her ears, as did the howling of wolves. She looked around and then saw the glowing yellow eyes of a pair of wolves. She watched them, staying where she was. They stared right back at her before they stepped through the bushes and slowly came towards the water. One was a large male, the other a small, young female. She watched them, not really scared. She was never scared of animals unless they tried to attack her.
The two wolves came towards the river and they lowered their head to the water and lapped it up. Fate gave a soft smile and she slowly reached out a hand towards them, palm up. The male's head snapped up and he growled, teeth bared, but Fate did not move. The female looked over at her, curious. She stepped into the lake, ever so slowly coming towards her, nose stretched towards her hand. Fate smiled and looked at the male who had become silent. The female's nose touched her hand and Fate looked back at her.
She could feel the small wolf's warm breath before it stepped closer and pressed its cheek to her hand. Fate smiled and ran her hand through it's thick fur as it moved closer to sit beside her. Fate looked at the male, stretching out her other hand. It growled again, but fell silent shortly after. After a few minutes, it stepped towards her, through the river and sniffed her before coming to lay beside her. Fate smiled and ran her hands through the wolves' fur.
Fate never knew why animals never attacked her and always seemed to become like domestic pets around her. Maybe it was her aura. She didn't know. But she liked it.
Suddenly the male jumped to his feet, facing the treeline behind her and growled, teeth bared. "shh," Fate said softly, running a hand through the wolf's neck fur to calm him. She glanced back, seeing a shadow, but not making out who it was. "Who's there?" she asked, voice slightly defensive.

Re: Terrified To Die [R] (~-Making Mirrors-~ )
Connor rubbed his forehead before standing up.
He made his way over to another table and snatched a recently buttered piece of bread from a man's hand and took a large bite. The man growled and turned around quickly, trying to take the bread back from his hand. Connor chuckled and moved the food out of his reach. "Come on, I thought you were better than that!" He teased, waving the bread before the man's bearded chin before tugging it back again. The man, whose name was Finn, grumbled and shoved Connor in the abdomen. At first he fell backwards, stumbling into a passer-by before catching himself and standing back up. He laughed past the temporary pain and took another bite.
"Enough!" Finn snarled, reaching up and grabbing the food. It crumbled in his fist and flaked towards the ground. Connor frowned, and looked down the pile of crumbs. "What a waste!" He cried sarcastically, then maneuvered around the beast of a man. "Go ahead, beat me to a pulp!" He whispered in the man's ear. Finn jumped in surprise and whirled around, throwing a punch but catching only air. Connor had ducked, and was currently leaning cozily into the table bench.
"Finn! You can take him! Show 'em who's boss!" Others came up behind the fight, and Connor simply shook his head. Finn reached down and grabbed the collar of his shirt, lifting him into the air and breathing rancid breath into his face. "Oh, nasty!" He complained, pressing his palm into the man's face. Finn chuckled and whirled around, throwing Connor into the dirt roughly. A wheeze escaped the man who now lay in the dirt, and he lifted himself onto his elbows. "I will admit, that hurt," He grinned, and glanced over at his brother as Kayle came to see what was wrong. "Just a bit of fun, brother!" Connor chuckled, and grunted when Kayle yanked him onto his feet. "Hey!" He protested, shoving Kayle off of him and standing on his own.
"This is ridiculous, Connor. You're making a fool of yourself." Kayle hissed into his younger brother's ear. Connor just grumbled and turned away from the small group. "Thanks for the entertainment, Finn," He spat over his shoulder, then disappeared into the forest with a smirk on his lips.

Re: Terrified To Die [R] (~-Making Mirrors-~ )
Fate watched the dark shadow and slowly pushed herself to her feet, unsure of what to do, but not wanting to stay on the ground incase it was a person and not her imagination. But then again, the male wolf had sensed someone. So who was it? Fate cocked her head to the side and took a hesitant step closer to the person's outline, which physically stiffened. Fate's bro furrowed in confusion and she stepped even closer, curiousity getting the better of her. Another step closer and Fate watched as the person took a step back and then turned and ran off, or more like, stumbled away.
Fate watched the retreating figure, confused and then ran a hand through her long auburn hair and turned back to the wolves who were both standing and in defensive stances. Fate gave a light laugh, "hush. It's fine, they're gone," she said with a smile and she watched as they took in her words and then both sat down. Fate stepped over to them an crouched down, running her hands through their thick fur again. The male's dark yellow eyes watching her closely, whilst the female closed hers and leaned into her touch.
Fate loved it how most animals would become like pets around her, but then be able to leave and become the wild animals they truly were.
Fate straightened and smiled down at them before she turned and walked along the river. They trailed after her, almost like they were guarding a pup that was curious and wandering away. Fate couldn't help but laugh and she looked back at them with a grin. She turned to go up into the reeline and they followed, not caring where she went, just wanting to watch her for now. However, once she stepped into the treeline and took a few steps, she ran into someone. She had been too busy watching the wolves behind her, she hadn't noticed.
On cue, the two started growling and Fate panicked for a moment, thinking it may be someone out to hurt her or something. However, she looked upto see Connor and she sighed in relief. She looked a the wolves and shook her head, "He's a," she paused her moment, thinking, "Friend?" she wasn't actually sure what Connor was to her, so she'd settle at that. The wolves shut up and took a few steps back before sitting down and watching them.
Fate turned to Connor, studying him. His clothes were covered in dit; as if he had fallen or something. There was a graze on his arm where it must've cut when he had fallen or whatever and Fate looked up at his face for a moment before looking at the graze. She reached towards it, tentatively touching the outside of it, unsure of whether it hurt. Probably not, Connor was tough. She looked up at him again and asked, "what happened?"

Re: Terrified To Die [R] (~-Making Mirrors-~ )
Connor shrugged his coat around his shoulders and brushed a bit of dirt from his sleeve.
Where it was once shiny and impeccable, it was now scuffed and soiled. Not that it matter much to him, the fabric was easily cleaned with a dip in the river. Connor chuckled to himself and shook his head, stepping on silent feet over dry leaves and branches. The men in the camp always took things so seriously, especially Kayle. It was all just a bit of fun, why couldn't he see that? The ebony haired man ran a hand across the back of his neck and grinned as he let his head fall backwards. There was a strange warmth on his forearm, a wound he assumed. Not a bad one, just a little deep and was currently bleeding down his wrist and into his palm. Connor lifted it and opened his hand to watch the blood. It was slow, close to drying. He took his other hand and ran his thumb across the blood, smearing it down to his fingertips and focusing on the warmth it brought across the skin. The crimson liquid dried shortly after, becoming a dark red, almost brown color.
Connor wiped the blood onto his trousers and glanced up just in time to run directly into Fate. He tried to lean back and keep from ramming directly into her but he failed, and grabbed her wrist gently as a way to steady her. Once he knew she wouldn't fall his hand fell immediately to his side.
"I-I am sorry," he stammered, stepping backwards and out of her space. Although Connor did it mainly because he felt uncomfortable so close to her. He eyed her warily as she touched the edge of his wound, and stifled the wince on his face. It wasn't a bad wound but his skin was softer than most and therefor more sensitive. Fate spoke, and he listened, but he ignored the concern. "Nothing, I fell," Connor lied, and was surprised that it was pathetic and completely transparent. Mentally cursing himself, he pulled his wounded arm back with his other and standing straighter than before. His dark hair was disheveled and tumbled across his cheekbones and across the bridge of his nose, but he ignored it.

Re: Terrified To Die [R] (~-Making Mirrors-~ )
Fate completely ed his apology and she noticed him stifle his wince. She hesitated for a moment and then he spoke, saying he merely fell. Fate's brow furrowed slightly and she looked up at him, studying his face. "Liar," she said, "there's no need to lie to me, Connor. It's obvious something happened back at the camp," she shook her head and looked back at the river, "you should rinse it out. To get the dirt out and to stop it from getting infected," she said and then turned and walked to the edge of the water, the two wolves coming to stand by her side. She gave a soft smile and crouched down, running her hand through their fur and then tapped the fae's nose. Which made her reel backwards in surprise.
Fate grinned and then reached down to the water, washing off her hands and then cupping her hands and catching the water after she ripped a bit of fabric from her dress and drenching it, ahnging it over her wrist. She stood up slowly, making sure as little water escaped. She turned back and walked to Connor again and looked up at him. A moment later she reached over and let the water trickle over the small wound, watching the dirt and blood roll down. She glanced up at him, worried it might hurt.
Once the water drained from her hands, she grabbed the wet fabric and then gently wiped the wound, stiffening as she did so, afraid he might lash out. Fate looked at Connor and then at his wound, "sorry if it hurts," she said softly. "I just don't want it getting infected. That's never pleasant," she said softly.

Re: Terrified To Die [R] (~-Making Mirrors-~ )
Connor shook his head and protested as she touched the wound with the fabric.
It hurt, but he gritted his teeth and stood rigid before her. He was much taller than she was, and her head only reached his shoulders. His eyes wandered over towards the two wolves, and he furrowed his brows. Most animals despised him, even ran from him or turned to attack him. Yet these creatures were calm, and completely ignored him. Fate pressed the strip of her dress down further and he tensed, looking down at the wound as she worked. "What did you do to them?" Connor asked her, referring to the wolves.
His deep emerald eyes wandered up to hers and he frowned when she spoke. It'd only match the rest of me....
He shook his head and offered a small smile. "Thank you," he practically whispered, then gently pushed her hand away from his arm. Connor turned his attention to the wound, and ran his finger over it in a zig-zagged pattern. The skin pulled together slowly and merged together, a thin green line glowed where skin met skin and then faded to reveal a completely healed arm. Not even a scar remained.

Re: Terrified To Die [R] (~-Making Mirrors-~ )
Fate blinked at Connor as he commented about the wolves, asking what she did before he thanked her nd gently pushed her hand away. She watched, fascinated by his magic and how he just healed it so quickly. No scar or trace of the wound which had once been there. A moment later, she shook her head to clear her mind and she looked up at hima nd then glanced at the wolves again and shrugged. "I didn't do anything. Nearly all animals are like that around me. I don't know why," Fate replied and then held out a hand towards the wolves.
They hesitated for a moment before they stepped through the treelin and trotted over to Fate, pressing their noses to her small hand. Fate smiled and then looked up at Connor. "They won't hurt you," she said and then looked down at them. "Go on," she said to them. The male sat down, refusing to move from his spot, but the female took a couple steps towards Connor and then reached up and sniffed his hand. She then pressed her nose to his fingers before licking his palm. She sat down and looked up at Connor, tongue hanging out the side.
Fate couldn't help but smile at the sight and ran her hand through the male's head fur. "See? They won't hurt you. Or atleast, she won't if you pat her. He seems a bit funny, though," Fate siad, looking down at the male for a moment before looking back up at Connor.
She then thought of something and she glanced through the trees and then looked at Connor. "Someone was watching me earlier," she said and thought for a moment, " I couldn't see him, but when I approached him, he ran off. And not back towards the campsite. He seemed to be injured or something," she said, looking through the trees again with a sigh, "but I could just be thinking too much."

Re: Terrified To Die [R] (~-Making Mirrors-~ )
Connor eyed the creatures warily as they approached him, his jaw tightening.
Not once did he look away as the beast stepped even closer and sat before him. As he glanced up at Fate, the wolf nuzzled his palm. Connor reeled backwards in surprise, clutching his palm to his chest and glaring down at the canine. For a moment, all he felt was anger. Connor had to force himself not to snap the animal's neck right then and there. Gritting his teeth, he looked to Fate and snorted at her words. His emerald eyes turned towards the male that was hanging back, and they narrowed slightly. "The female is ignorant. He fears me, as most beasts do." Connor snarled the words, then turned back to the red haired woman. "I fear them as well."
Clearing his through, the man shifted and crossed his arms over his chest. He was not embarrassed by the fact that he was afraid of them, in fact he preferred it that way. The less he had to deal with them the better. Like people, they were overrated and foul. Something to be ignored and shooed off rather than befriended. Fate spoke up again, bringing Connor's gaze to hers. "Watching you? Was he looking for help or trying to hurt you?"

Fate couldn't help but frown at his words about the female being ignorant. It wasn't nessessarily true; she could just be trusting like some were. Fate gave a soft sigh and looked up at him when he mentioned that he feared them. She watched him for a few moments, unsure of what she should do. What could she do was more the question.
Fate thought for a few moments when he questioned as to whether or not the man wanted help or to hurt her. She didn't know. "No idea, to be honest. When I got up and went towards him, he ran off," she replied with a shrug. She looked at the wolves and gave a light shake of her head and ran a hand through the male's head fur and said, "you guys can go," they hesitated for a second or so before they turned and walked off. She smiled at their retreating figures and then turned back to Connor.
"If he comes back, then I can tell you if you want.. It doesn't really bother me," she said and then paused, "whether he hurts me or not, I don't really care," she said softly. It's not like she really had a life to live anymore. She was merely a captive. She had no freedom. After a couple minutes of silence on her part, Fate looked up at Connor, studying his emerald eyes and then asked, "do you think that Kayle would ever let me leave?" she cocked her head to the side and watched him, waiting for an answer and expecting a no but hoping for a yes or a maybe.

Re: Terrified To Die [R] (~-Making Mirrors-~ )
Connor took in the information and shrugged away the offer.
It's not like he'd be much help, after all. Subtle uses of magic here and there were alright, but blatant use would risk his brother finding out. His eyes turned to Fate's hand as she stroked the male's head. Trying to ignore the beasts, Connor turned his gaze on a young leaf, glossy and pure, sprouting from a nearby plant. He listened as their footfalls faded into the dark shadows of the foliage, extending an elegant hand and clasping the leaf between his index and middle finger. Connor tenderly slid his skin across the surface, his gaze almost trance-like as the inner workings of the organism tickled in his mind like a fall breeze. It was a beautiful, dream-like feeling that he hadn't experienced in so long that it felt almost ethereal. The back of Connor's senses still followed the footsteps, and like an alarm they brought him back to reality when they could no longer be heard. He turned back to Fate as she spoke again, this time her voice was timid and testing, like she was worried about asking the question. He cocked a slender eyebrow at her and stepped slowly towards her again. He stopped when they were across from each other at a comfortable distance. "No. I do not think he will let you go free." Connor told her, his brash approach was seemingly final and cruel.
"But, perhaps, his decisions will be swayed..."

Re: Terrified To Die [R] (~-Making Mirrors-~ )
Fate waited for Connor's reply and when he did answer, Fate's hope vanished. So she would never be released from her captivity within the group of bandits. Fate sighed and looked away, however, when he spoke again, saying that he may be swayed, Fate's attention snapped back to Connor, eyes wide with a mixture of emotions. Fate reached out without even thinking, her hand gripping his upper right hand gently. "Really? How?" she asked softly.
A moment later, she realised that she was touching him and she quickly let go, drawing her hand to her chest, slightly embarrassed. "Um, i'm sorry," she said, looking down at the ground. How could she be so stupid? She knew that Connor didn't like people touching her. She didn't have to ask, she could just tell.
Fate glanced up at Connor again and dropped her hand to her side, a strand of her auburn coloured hair falling over of dark eyes.
