Peyton had been on the run for as long as she could remember, she was born as an expeirenment but became more then that as she grew up. Her long auburn hair blew in the breeze as she drove down a country road in the middle of no where's land. Out her noone would find her or make her do thiings she didn't want todo. She was looking for a new start. Maybe even become a vet somewhere since she could talk to them. Peyton was daydreaming about having a normal life when she heard a nasty sound come from her truck " shoot " she said as it started to smoke luckly the next town was an exit away. As she turned into the town 3 minutes later she made it to the garage before her truck went died. Peyton stepped out of her truck wearing cut off jean shorts and a purple plain button down that was unbuttoned . " hello is anyone here" she called as she ran her hand through her hair then placed them on her curvey hips waiting for some help

"God damn" muttered Adam as he lied on his back under a car, on an old skateboard. He hit the wrench against one of the pipe's. This was the 6th day he had been working on the chevy car he had saved from the scrap yard. He could admit to himself that he was a pretty good mechanic, the best in this town and a couple of others, but this one was just impossible.

He kept muttering profanities At the car under his breath. He was happy with his life, ever since he dropped out of the senior year at high school, he had been studying cars with the old owner at he shop. He became a son to Greg, but after he passed away, he learnt that in his will he passed on the shop to him. Now he was in charge, and the only other employee was Saunders. Some gangly kid that knew cars, but just really needed the money, he kind of reminded Adam of himself when he was younger.

He was preoccupied in his work that he didn't hear the spitter of a car drive into the garages driveway, he heard the call of a women come from the front. He slid out from under the car on the skateboard, and saw a pretty redhead (hehe) stand in the middle of the garage, hands on hips. He stood up, his bare chest glistening with sweat. He threw his shirt over his shoulder before pulling off a small charming smile. "how can I help you ma'am" he said, a little twinge of country could be heard in his deep voice.

Peyton smiled asa well musceled guy that looked somewhere around her age , her human age anyway ca.e to help her " hi I'm peyton and I'm new round here but my truck seems to be acting really weird" she said as she put her aviaters on top of her head revealing the deepest green blue eyes you've ever seen. Peyton walked over to the hood of her truck and lifted it up smoking coming out in steady heaps.

" piece of crap" she said as she looked but at the guy " I didn't catch your name but do you think you could help me out" she said as she hooked her thumbs in the belt loops of her shorts and bit her lower lip. Peyton knew this ment she would have to find work for a few days while her truck was getting fixed. Who knows maybe even stay in this town. It was a cute medium sized town so it should be hard to find some type of job

Adam kept the charming smile on his face as Saunders walked out from one of the doors, "hey boss, where are he 18 inch rims for tires?" he asked. Adam couldn't help but roll his eyes, the kid had been working here for a month yet he didn't know where the simplest of stuff was. "Im the very back, next to the actual tire" he responded without taking his eyes off peyton. "Adam" he responded "I'd shake your hand but it's covered in oil" he said with a small chuckle. When she took if her glasses, he was brought off guard. He had never seen such colored, beautiful eyes.

He shook it off quickly, his charmers smile still on his face as he walked over to her car and stuck his head in. He straightened up a few moments later finding the problem pretty quickly sfter locating where the smoke was coming from. "your valve guides are busted, now since your car is an older model I don't have any for your specific car, and ill need to order some" he said wiping his hands with the shirt that was on his shoulder.

Peyton watched as a younger gangle kid came out asking about tired. She smirked as adam looked annoyed with the kid." Don't worry about it I'm used to getting my hands dirty wether dealing with trying to fix my truck or trying to help an animal I always seem to get dirty" she said with a smile. Peyton blushed as she new her eyes caught adam off gaurd. But she just didn't care if people thought she was different anymore.

" how long do you think it'll take to get the parts in" she asked as adam told her the knew about her truck. This ment shed be stuck here for a while.

Adam couldn't help but let out a small deep throated laug when he heard peyton ramble a bit. "so you like animals eh?" he asked her with a raised eyebrow. Adam sighed as he looked at the truck again, "a couple of days, maybe a week" he said looking at her, getting lost in her ocean green eyes. He shook his head again, telling himself that she was just passing through and that shed be on the road again. "i think a week tops to get them in and it would just take me a couple of hours to instal them" he said watching as saunders rolled out a tire. He sigh again "thats a 20 not 18..." good lord he thought to himself.

" yes I like aninmals especially horses. I'm a vet" peyton said as adam asked about her linking animals. Peyton listen as adam told about how long it would take to get the parts then fix her truck. " ok that's not to bad uhn do you no of anywhere I could stay for a while and maybe get a job working with horses" peyton said with a shy smile. Just as adam was about to answer her the lanky boy came out with the wrong tires yet again. Peyton could help but giggle softly at adams expression on his face

Adam raised an eyebrow "impressive" he said with a small smile as he looked at her. He really could just loose himself in those green..blue deep ...he didn't notice that his hand had started to slide of the hood of the car where he was leaning against and he slightly stumbled forward. A blush crept onto his cheeks and he cleared his groat and looked away. "um weel here's a ranch not far from here, you could go check it out" he said turning to glare at Saunders whi just shrugged.

Peyton tryd to hide a smile that tugged at the connors of her lips as adam stumbled forward after loosing his grip on the hood of her truck. " I would love to check it out where is it exactlty" she ask as she looked out around the small town. Just as she turned back she saw adam shoot saunders a dirty look she smirked it was quight funny how adam and aunders worked together

Adamshot him another look as Saunders mouth opened, ready to give hi stow cents in but Adams look stopped him. Adam looked back at Peyton, "not far from here, but its still not walking distance" he said motioning at her car. Saunders started to walk over to them, "wow you've got some sick eyes" he said looking at her. "really San?" Adamm looked at him annoyed, then looked back at Peyton, running a hand through his hair. "I could give you a ride there" he said with a small shrug.

Peyton listen as adam told her where the ranch was, but when he said it wasn't in walking distance and hinted that she would need a car in the back of her mind she was like yah I could just canter there big boy if only you knew. Saunders broke through peytons thinking as she heard him make a comment about her eyes. Peyton smiled " thanks" she said with a laugh as adam got on his case again. When adam said he could take her a big smile went to peytons face " that would be amazing" she said thrilled to be getting a ride to the ranch

Adam laughed as he saw her reaction, "Alright, just let me finish up with something and I'll drive you," he said quickly before lightly hitting Saunders on the back of the head, as he kept staring at Peyton's eyes. Saunders shook it off and just shrugged going back into the rear of the store. Adam closed the hood of the car he was working on before Peyton came in, and took the keys out. He smiled up at her, "My car's in the front," he said "Saunders don't burn the place down" he yelled before walking out, making sure Peyton was following.

Peyton smiled " alright ' she said as she watched him go to the car he was working to shut the hood before he hit saunders in the back of his head she laughed softly and smiled at saunders for he turned and walked away going back to work. Peyton had been looking around the town when she heard adam say his car was in the front. She smiled and started to follow after him towards his car

Adam smiled at her, as they walked into the back of the parking lot. Stood there was an silver pick-up truck. He opened the door for her, for the passenger seat and hoped in himself on the driver's seat. He waited for her to be buckled up before driving onto the roads. He looked at her, "So where are you?" He asked her curious, about where this girl was from.

As they walked to the back of the shop and got into adams silver pick up truck. Peyton smiled as he open the door for her " thanks" she said. As she got in and buckled up. As they started down the road peyton was looking out the window before adam asked her where she was from. She smirked she didn't have a real home and she wasn't about to tell him her story. " I was bron in north carolina but when I hit 18 I was on my own traveling" she said as she looked over at him

Adam smiled as he kept driving one eye on Peyton as she talked. He wondered if she would decided to stay longer than the week. He shrugged, "I've been living here since I was born, not a much of a traveler," he said with his country twang in his voice. "Started working at the garage when I was 16, then It became mine once the owner passed away" he said, "Now I only have Saunders helping out" he said with a smile.

peyton smiled as adam told her about his life and how he got to become the owner of his shop. "sounds like your whole life is here" she said as she glaced over at him beofre look out her window at the mountains then sighing " i never got to really meet my birth parents i was told they died in a crash and i was the only survivor" she said making up a partical lie so that adam wouldnt ask about her family

Adam shrugged, "yup pretty much, I grew up here with my mother" he said, and looked at her with a frown. "I'm sorry Peyton" he said genuinely. They started to pull in a gravel driveway. Large white ranch houses, scattered across the grounds with a large barn. "Well here's the ranch I talked to you about before" he said, he left Peyton's past alone, seeing she really didn't want to talk about it.

peyton smiled " its fine sometimes tough things happen to people to make them strong" she said as they pulled into the drive way of the ranch " wow is this like a breeding farm or something its huge" she said as she looked around as soon as she saw other horses she almost jumped fromt he car. " who owns this place" she said as the truck stop and she got out waiting for adam to come stand with her and oet the friendly mares and foals that came over to the fence to greet thier arrival

Adam smirked, "So im guessing your pretty strong then" he said half to himself. He looked at her and then around at the grounds, "Yea it is" he said with a small shrug. He laughed when he saw that Peyton was about to jump out from her seat, "woah there cowgirl" he said with a chuckle and he stopped the car in front of the farm house. He walked over to Peyton with a ginger mare, and her foal. He patted her on the neck, when she loudly nickered when she saw him and trotted over.

peyton winked at him when he made a comment about her being strong " yes i am. i could take oyu down" she said with a laugh after he came and joined her by the fence with the mare and foal. peyton could tell by the mares reaction she knew adam very well " she knows you" she said softly as she petted the mare. then she looked at adam " how does she know you soo well" she said as the mare started to lip at her hair

Adam laughed, "oh really? I'd like to see that" he said. He kept petting the mare as she playfully tugged on his hair, then she moved to his shirt. "Hey girl," he said with a laugh, as he pushed her muzzle away with a light pat. She snorted and stuck her muzzle in his face. Adam smiled at Peyton, "Her name's Aviva" he sighed looking around the farm, "This is where I grew up" he said with a small shrug.

as adam played with the mare peyton smiled to herself but when he answered her saying this was where he grew up her mouth almost dropped open " your kidding me right" she said as the foal nipped her back pocket pushing her into adams arms as she gave a squeal " she blushe delooking up into adams eyes then stepped back " uhm you just dont look like you would know much about horse since you know you work with cars" she said as she placed her hands in her back pockets then she remember whay he said in the begging " hey i can but i would want to hurt sucha cute face on a pretty boy" she said with a laugh

Adam chuckled at her reaction, "No, im not kidding you, my foster family owns this place" he said giving the mare another pat. Adam was caught slightly off-guard when Peyton barreled into him. He cleared his throat, and turned a slight shade of pink, "Don't worry about it" he said running a hand through his hair. He shrugged, "Well I know lots about them, but you know cars don't bite ya" he said with a laugh, "or kick, and you don't have to clean up after them" he said listing things off his fingers. "I still like working with them though" he raised an eyebrow at Peyton and just shook his head, "why don't we go into the cottage" he said giving the mare a last pat.

Peyton laughed as adam started to count off reasons why he preferred working with cars over horses. " you have to show me your skills sometime" she said with a smile as they started to walk towards the main cottage. " this place looks like a dream" she said still mesmarized by the ranch. She could see herself here for a long time
