The polish wood sign swung on its hooks, connected to the strong stall door. The words inscribed on the sign were this.
Above and Beyond
If you had seen the sign by itself, you wouldn't quite know what to make of it, what it meant. But above the sign, with her magestic, beautiful head over the stall door, stood our explanation.
The wonderfully black mare stood in her stall, perfectly groomed, her ebony coat shining. Her long thick mane hung down over her thick gleaming neck, and her hind foot was cocked, a white sock on that one foot only.
The mare had beautiful dark chocolate eyes, and a small white snip on her muzzle. That and the white sock were the only things that werent dark on her, and she looked quite stunning.
Letting out a strong whinny, the mare tossed her head, answered by the many other horses that resided in the racing stable.

His long and dark mane fell to his shoulders as her stood in the stable, waiting patiently. The stunning roan coat glistened in the sun even though the steel stable stood over his head. His long mane reached to almost his shoulder blades. He flipped it and looked around outside, hearing the crowd cheering, making him think of his old times. He smiled and looked at it, getting even more comfortable. He remembered when she was uncomfortable and went insane. But now look where he was.

Above and Beyone (Aka Raven)

The mare pranced unhappily in the stall, hearing the crowd outside. She was at the time stabled at the race track, as she had to be worked on the track every morning and evening, to get her used to the racing senario. Raven was, of course ready to race, and was quite frantic to leave the stall and run on the track.

Running Justice tapped his hoof impatiently and flicked his tail. "Hurry." he muttered and snorted. The announcer started to announce the players in the race. He rolled his eyes. No one could beat him! He sighed and got ready.

[Spritz]

Soon, the groom made his rounds, and reached Ravens stall, slipping inside and clipping a lead tope onto her halter. She stepped out, and soon was in the crossties, her gleaming coat being groomed for the third time that day. Even though today was only a exercise run, they still wanted her to look her best.

Soon, the stud was all tidy and ready to go out. Opening the gate, he walked out, head high as he looked around. The crowd roared also as another horse came out. He snorted and rolled his eyes. "Me.." he reminded himself. "Not a mare." Snorting quietly, as if it was a joke he stepped up to the chekered line.

[Spritz]

Raven was quickly tacked up, and soon she was led out to the ring, where her jocky mounted her. He was light, she could hardly feel him on her strong back anyhow. She snorted in discust as she saw that a stallion was lined up to race with her. Well, technically, it wasn't a race, a mere exercise run. But to her, it was on.
As she walked into the starting gate, she nipped at the stallion next to her.
"Watch it, bud!"

Justice felt a nip on his neck and looked over to see the mare. He rolled his eyes and nipped her neck softly. "You watch it!" He sneered and looked forward as his jocky climbed on. He didn't even know he was on him. Until he tapped him softly whispering, "good luck." He waited silently. Getting ready, happy be able to move around.

[Spritz]

Raven snorted in discust, then focused on what was ahead. Little did she know, this was a test to see if the two horses were race worthy. They would have to prove themselves in order to move on.
Suddenly, the gunshot sounded, and the gates flew open. Raven was out even before they had fully opened, and racing along the track, her hooves pounding fast, but not as fast as she wanted to, as her jockey was holding her back for some reason.

As the gunshot went off, Justice was surprised as the mare bolted off. He just gave a cool smile and started to run, passing her and saying. "I was just giving you a headstart!"

[Spritz]

Raven snorted, then surged ahead, catching up to him with ease, her powerful legs flying benieth her, leaving hoofprints in the dirt behind her. She was racing neck to neck with the stallion, then her jockey slackened the reins. She thrust her head outward, her strides elongating. She suceeded in passing the stallion.

He panted, going faster as she got closer to him. But instantly, he was head to head with her. She was getting closer. She's good. He thought then ran faster passing her really quickly, as lightening making his twist and turns, chuckling.

[Spritz]

Raven whinnied in protest, speeding up and once again, racing head to head with him. THe crowd was cheering wildly, and her strides matched his own.

Justice's stride now matched her own, not able to escape match for match. Soon, they got over the finished line and cheers roared over his ears. "They both have a tie!" People whispered.

[Spritz]

Raven snorted in discust. Why hadn't her jockey let her run! Now she was tempermental, and she turned, nipping slightly at the jockeys leg. He scrambled off, giving her reins to the groom, who quickly patted her and told her she was a good girl. She glared at the Stallion,before walking away, her long black tail swishing behind her.

The stallion smiled and felt the groomer groom his back, the jockey walking away. He then opened his eyes and turned to see the mare walking away. He ran to her swishing his tail, his eyes shinning. "Hey, hey good race." he said.

[Spritz]

Raven was led into the barn, where she was put into crossties, the stallion behind her. The saddle was removed from her back, and she shook herself off, her black hide gleaming, coated with sweat.
She snorted, and turned her head, looking over her shoulder.
"Yeah, sure. But next time all you're gonna see is my butt."

Justice nodded quickly and tried to keep his lips from moving into a mock. "Um, okay toots. Make that dreams everyday, and I guarentee it will come true." More sarcastic. He got his sadle tooken off, full body gleaming in the sunshine that peered through the barn.

[Spritz]

Raven stomped, her iron clad hoof making a sharp crack as it hit the ground. The groom rushed over and pet her, and she tossed her head impatiently. Just then, did the mare notice that her stall had been moved around, and now her and the stallion were side by side.

Justice snickered when she was snorting and almost pushing the human away. Quite fiesty, he deeply and secretly liked that. He stomped his hoof and looked at her. "So, toots, what's the name?"

[Spritz]

Raven flicked her tail in annoyance, and was unclipped from the cross ties, led nearer to the stud and released into her stall. The door closed behind her, and she eyed him from behind the bars, her deep eyes unreadable.
"Raven."

Justice smiled and nodded. He tried to read her eyes, which said nothing he sighed. "Justice." he answered quietly lowering his eyes to the ground.

[Spritz]

Raven turned and pawed the stall floor, lowering her head to nibble at the fresh green hay that was supplied. Little did she know, that the owners of the stable had formed that race between the two horses to see thier speed, compared one to another. Now, she was supposed to be bred to him as soon as she came into heat.

Justice shook his head and rolled his eyes sightly. "Now what?" he asked almost silently.
