Onyksi traveled down the beaten path, towards the Lehtiä Kylä. It was a good day's walk away, but the path underneath her feet was still taken regularly, and she had no problem staying hidden in the path, her silvery hair shining underneath Kuu's rays. The night sky shone with its heavenly stars, and she took in a deep breath of air. "Moon not high..." she grimaced at her rocky English. She barely knew English. She lifted her wrist to her mouth, speaking into an implanted chip that lay just above the veins of her wrist, that allowed her to communicate with her partner, Lintu. She began speaking into it, talking to him in her native tongue, Finnish, "Kuinka kaukana olet? En näe sinua."
She waited for ten minutes, yet there was no reply. Onyksi began to fret and rushed forward at inhuman speeds, practically yelling into the Communicator, "Lintu, missä olet!? Tule mukaan!"
Onyksi, in her rush, managed to trip over a mangled body and faceplanted into the soft, muddy and blood-stained earth. She whipped around to see her companion, Lintu, with a knife protruding from his chest, blood poiring out on either side. "Lintu!" she cried and hovered over his body, dropping her face onto the wound after removing the knife, blood smearing on her cheek.
She thought she heard something and shouted, "Go away!" in her best English, before continueing to sob over Lintu. Whoever had killed him would pay, and she secretly wished whoever was still around was his murderer, so she could maul him or her into a bloody pulp.

Re: Play The Card [Experienced]
Ru was having a bad day. He found nothing to hunt, his muscles were aching from a long run and a much longer walk and a bee stung him right in the nose, and why on earth did she do that for? Not that it mattered now, all he wanted was to get to a nice and inviting spot in a forest he didn't know and that seemingly grew to fit somewhat smaller creatures , not as in dwarf small, but he was heavy for a human, and some of the roots that looked strong won't support his weight, or a stone would stir when he placed his foot on it and he was grambling as he walked "Silly ihmiset... aina paniicissa... niin töykeä... bahh! viikolla juuret..." . He needed to get out by nightfall but the forest appeared to be endless which proved to be a good thing since the people he left behind weren't so fond of him, the hayforks told him that.
By evening he was managing himself quite well in the forest as he learned where he should, and shouldn't walk and by the time he could see the moon he got the sense of his changing serounding, the main gift that allowed him to be a good ranger. Some time after he was striding with only half his mind in it, the other half was sorting the last events. He struggled through a particularly thick bush and then he heard a shout, he didn't understand the words, but he heard the voice and tone good enough and he froze, listening. There was nothing special he could hear, and yet... He changed direction, now heading the the sourse of the sound and as he got near he could make out the sound of crying. He got close and what he saw was a female elf, armed to the tooth elf with muscled body and the smell of this forest, certainly not the thin, nearly skinny, delicate silvertounge elves he used to see in cities and villages. This strong elf was a very poor one however, crying over a very dead elf. At first he though to come over and offer help, then he took the thought back at the clear sight of her weaponry and instead he gave a small grunt and said "Excuse me".
*wish i could stick around for more, but i gotta get some sleep*

[ that's all right ]
Onyksi lifted her face, the streaks of muddied and half-brown blood sticking to one side of her delicately featured face. It was quiet the forest, and whoever murdered her long-time companion and fellow hunter was obviously not around. She stood up for a moment and surveyed the dark trees that went on endlessly for miles and miles, and she grimaced, plopping back down next to her companion and salvaging a few more of his better weapons from the toolbelt around his waist and the fine oak arrows tipped with swan feathers, putting them in her quiver that was slung rather carelessly over her shoulder from her mad dash to find her companion. Putting her right hand on the wound she whispered to his corpse, "Löydän ne. Sitten tappaa heidät, niin julma kuin sinulla on tapettu. Vannon," before a fresh wave of tears flowed down her cheeks and she haunched over his dead, toned figure once more.
When she heard something creak, Onyksi opened one eye and looked over the rim of her arm, and when she heard a voice, she snapped her head up, immediately getting to her feet, not bothering to wipe the blood off of her cheek. He would be avenged, and if it meant having to carry his blood on her face until his murderers were dealt with, she would gladly do so. Onyksi grimaced when he spoke in English, and hoped he'd speak her native Finnish tongue as well, before saying in English, "Yes?" thought it was pronounced with a thick accent, and she added quickly, "Olen suomalainen, ei Englanti." Even her name, Onyksi was Finnish for the word 'onyx.' To her tribe, it was a rare and cultivated yet dark and shady gemstone that symbolized wealth, power, prosperity, and stealth. It was an honorable name for her to own, considering her lineage. She righted herself and put a wary palm on the hilt of a dagger dipped in neurotoxins, in case the stranger tried to hurt her or desecrate the body of her fallen comrade. "State your business." She said in a hard-to-understand form of English, her Finnish tongue not accustomed to it.

"Yes? Olen suomalainen, ei Englanti". 'Finnish then' Ru thught, when he saw her hand move to her dagger he instinctively took half a step back, his left hand going to the lower part of his two handed swords scabbard, it would take him about three times longer to draw his sword than it would take her to draw his dagger, knowing he cought the elf in her grief he didn't take another hostile action and kept himself in check. "State your business"... 'She would have it easier in finnish' Ru reckoned and said in a calm and low tone "Nimeni on Ru eikä minulla ole bisnestä, Ohitin lähistöllä kun kuulin et huutaa, ja hyvin..." Ru understood how foolish his first notion would sound "Luulin, että saatat tarvita apua" he said to the obviously capable elf. "Tiedätkö kuka tämän teki?" he suggested wit hhis free right hand over to the corpse and took few sideway steps to get a better view, he stopped halfway from where he wanted to go, after just a couple of steps and regarded her, taking a better look at her posture, her features, her eyes... "Siellä kosto silmissäsi, lisäksi veren" Ru let off his scabbard and fully faced her, not fearing anymore. Vengeance is directed against a particular person and he done her nothing. If she had enough brains in her head she won't have any reason to attack him and he allowed himself to speak, not sure is that will make her attack him or ignore him but he asid it anyways "Kosto on huono, se saa takaisin sinulle", as he spoke the words he understood the chances of her listening to him are slim. He was calm, too calm, and that scared him 'stay aware! she looks like she's going to slit your throat if her friends killer is behind you!', infact, he didn't know what to do now, instinct told him that turning his back now won't be the right idea, and he didn't like the feeling that was taking over him - the feeling that this can carry him to a story he wouldn't like, one he didn't belong to, but here he is now...

Re: Play The Card [Experienced]
Onyksi was getting tired of the man's rambling ons. He had no idea about revenge, did he? Onyksi grimaced and gripped the dagger's hilt until her knuckles turneed white. She was in no mood to deal with him. "En tarvitse apuasi," she snapped before turning her face to look down at her fallen companion. Onyksi gritted her teeth and stared back up at him before reluctantly wiping the blood off of her face. "Veri kumppani on rohkeutta ystävä," Onyksi stated simply before staring at the blood that now stained her olive-green sleeve. She chuckled at him, noticing the hesitance in him in whether to turn around or not, as if somebody was standing there, ready to slit his throat as well as her own.
Onyksi stiffened and said, "En tiedä tappaja, mutta olen edelleen eri mieltä ajatuksiasi kostoa. Kun murhaaja on tapettu, aion olla sisältöä ei tappaa ellei se ole välttämätöntä. Mutta tämän lisäksi, olen salamurhaaja." Onyksi shrugged and took her hand off the dagger and turned around, though her slightly pointed ears still detected any of his movement. She had to get away, and find the killer of Lintu, else she'd find herself distraught and feeling guilty. She would kill the murderer as bloodily as she liked, and then, and only then, would she be content. She turned around to face the dead body of Lintu again before picking him up and slinging him over her shoulder. "Olet nähnyt Elven kuollut. Vähintä mitä voit tehdä on osallistua hänen hautaaminen." she said to the stranger before turning and walking further down the road, her mind in turmoil.

Re: Play The Card [Experienced]
He was surprised by her offer but immediately tailed her walking alongside and about a foot behind her, she was right - he could atleast help her burry her friend. Her pace wasn't quick because she carried her friend thus he had time to regard her and there was something that didn't fit right in - not that she didn't handled herself well, she walked with grace of an experienced traveller, the low, big moonlight was shining off her hair, her clothes blending with the enviroments colors, and her feet... there were two things about her feet. The first one he noticed was that her steps fell into the right placed, on the ground, on stones... that was when he remembered thinking that this forest was ment to be walked by smaller creatures and now it was obvious - elves. It took him some time to figure, but her steps had a certain edge of awareness, she seemed to make no noise and walked with heel first unlike someone who would stomp his feet on the ground when he's carrying something heavy but then he remembered that she told him she was an assassin, and though she looked like a ranger now he had to believe it, after all he was, well... mostly a ranger, and he was wearing a warriors gear. He could see her determination searing she walked rather slow for him so he decided that if he's going to help her burry him they can at the least get to it faster, he hated cold bodies "Otan hänet, voisimme matkustaa nopeammin tällä tavalla".

Re: Play The Card [Experienced]
[ yeah, you got it right ]
Onyksi was filled with regret as she stepped through the forest, thoughts wandering through her mind about what she would do to Lintu's murderer. She could still smell his blood, which was now leaking out onto her only slightly armored clothing. The feeling of the cooling stickiness was comforting in a way. Being an assassin, she was used to blood, but having the blood of a fallen companion on her was much, much different. Her thoughts were completely consumed with regret. He'd told her that he'd walk ahead and scout, but look what'd happen to him? He was an Elf---he was supposed to be able to slay enemies with one stroke of the neurotoxin dagger he'd held with him, which she now had on her. She grimaced when the stranger offered to carry him, and snapped back, "Tuskin tunnen sinua, ei edes nimeäsi, mutta haluat vaipasta!?"
Onyksi unintentionally sped up her pace. She didn't want him to help. She didn't need his help! Without thinking, she snarled, "En halua teidän saastaiset kätensä häneen, ihmisen!" Onyksi jumped over a root and walked onward, up the road and slightly to the east, stopping minutes later at a cove between two large oak trees, a fresh bed of moss on it. "Here," she said in her rocky English. She put him gently on the ground and sighed, brushing his longish black hair out of his face and being filled with remorse. "Kasvata juuria," she whispered, and tree roots intertwined with a light green moss, glowing a faint white line began to grow up from the ground, gently wrapping around Lintu's body. Onyksi kneeled beside him, hands folded in front of her face, eyes closed as the magic continued to work.
[ ihmisen is literally translated into 'human' though on Google Translator it just says 'man.' ]

Re: Play The Card [Experienced]
Ru didn't know if he should take it as a compliment or an insult but she called him 'human', and that meant he might not be so different from them after all but being an assassin she ought to have noticed, perhaps that probably was because of here sorrow... "En ole ihminen, olen ihmissusi" he said when the ritual was done, keeping quite the whole time as a last respect for her fallen friend. Now that this was done there were other things on his mind "Minne aiot mennä? Miten voisit löytää salamurhaajan tappaja?" and after a short contemplation he added as a practical note "Jos aiot tappaa niitä saatat tarvita apua, todella, tällä kertaa. ja jos siellä on joku, joka voisi tappaa murhaaja salamurhaaja on soturi" this wasn't a boast, if the young elf was going up against someone who already proved able in killing an elf assassin she's going to end up dead with or without her revenge and he was getting nervous, the night called him to hunt, the night, and his stomach. He looked at the roots where the body lay thinking he never saw a ritual like this one and he looked back at the elf with new respect. For a moment a thought saying she might be a good challanged passed in his head but he dismissed it as soon as it came, he wasn't there to find a fight, and this forest probably has more assassins like her and her partner patrolling it, and somewhere not too far there was someone specialized in killing assassins, no, he needed an ally right now, and his own idea started looking more appealing to him even if he didn't meant it as he said it. If he'll lend her a hand he could be safe and she could find her friends killer.

Re: Play The Card [Experienced]
Onyksi stiffened for a moment when he commented that he was a werewolf. She didn't like wolves in general, and she didn't like humans. So what was so good about an oversized wolf-human thing? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Onyksi sighed and responded quietly, "Ihmissusi tai ei, arvostan teidän kunniaksi minun ystävälleni. Vaikka en useinkaan kunnioittaa ystävällisistä. Ne vain tuovat hyödytön tuhoa." Onyksi said the last part quietly and stood up to stand eye-to-eye to this werewolf. If he indeed was a werewolf, not only her strength and cunning would help her win a battle, but her fuel of anger and hatred towards that race. Onyksi was suprised that the assassin elves were not in his history. Werewolves, at one point, had terrorized her people, claiming the land that the assassin elves had lived on for so many millennia. Onyksi sighed at his offer for help, but nodded solomnly. He was right. If Lintu's murderer could kill an elf that easily, then she had no chance, really, against it. "Hmph, sitten seuraa minua." She almost added that he would need to watch his back, but decided against it and left the burial ground for her fallen comrade and began walking back towards the main road. Her highly trained ears picked up every single noise in the forest. From her own footsteps, to the werewolf's, and deer as well. She could sense another somewhere in the forest, an unwelcome one that smelled of blood, but not elven blood. Ignoring the sensation, she said over her shoulder, "Nimeni on Onyksi."

Re: Play The Card [Experienced]
"Kunnossa" Ru said not thinking about it too much he followed her like an automated robot, the last few days were very tiring and his body and mind began to suffer the penalties for pushing their limits "Voisimmeko löytää jotain syötävää nopeasti?" he asked, sounding more hungry than he meant, but not caring anymore. Thats when the smell of foul blood got to his nose, not an elven blood like the blood of the slain assassin smelled but something he couldn't make out yet, and he found that his stomach was rumbling in dismay, refusing to acknowledge that this smell could possibly be a part of his meal, quite amusing. Lucky he had someone who knew this forest with him. "Oh kyllä, mihin olemme menossa?" after the smell of bood flooded his nostrils he was getting interested and adrenaline began pumping into his veins and since he was tired it was easier for him to let the wolf within guide him, he sniffed the air every once in a while and crouched ner bushes, examining them. He kept Onyksi in his mind, remembering her location and direction as a wolf would do with a fellow wolf when they hunted in pack, not too close to eachother, but never far. And so he followed her with few meters between them, getting more and more aware to his serounding with every passing moment, seeing the forest as a blur and spots being highlighted by his senses.

"Ruoka on tapoja pois. En tarvitse ruokaa. Hunt jos sinun täytyy," she replied dryly. She would eat a few berries every now and then, a squirrel if she must. It was nothing for her not to eat. She frequently went days without eating, and never suffered from hunger or fatigue. It was in the Elven system. She used her highly trained ears to listen behind her to what he was doing, but after awhile she considered it none of her concern. She needn't worry about him. Shrugging, she replied nonchalantly, "Oma klaani, tietenkin." She shrugged, "Mutta se on vähintään kolmen päivän matka." She finally turned around to see him sniffing things, his eyes filled with a bloodlust that startled her at first, but she quickly pushed it away. "Minä jään tänne. Menet metsästää." Onyksi leaned against a tree and took out her dagger, flipping it over in her hand and sheening it with a cloth that she kept. She nodded away from herself, in the direction of where he was sniffing the most. "Jatka."

Re: Play The Card [Experienced]
After a short while he was locked on the smell of strange blood yet every time he thought he got it the smell faded away leaving him clueless about its nature and whereabouts, he was also half listening to Onyksi in that proccess. There was one time he was getting the smell just good enough to nearly recognizing it, the wind came out through the bushes carrying the smells of trees, flowers, mushrooms growing in wet soil that was rich enough to have its own distinguishable smell, and just the tiniest tray of that bloods' smell he was getting when they first began walking, but then Onyksi spoke to him directly and that got him out of concentration, the tray lost in the moving air. She told him to go hunt, and first he was thinking 'But i didn't get the smell yet' and he commented while unsheathing his greatsword "Mielestäni tarvitsemme enemmän kuin tikari tappaa se" then he looked at her and blinked, she was talking about hunting a meal. There was a hares' lair somewhere nearby that he pinpointed earlier, still not taking her offered dagger he stood up holding his sword low "Palaan pian" he said shortly and set into the the forest, intrigue increasing about the strange smell that came and went from the opposite direction, he seposed it shouldn't take him more than ten minutes.

"En aikonut tappaa se tikari," Onyksi said, rather annoyed. Was he really that clueless? All she was going to do was maybe carve something and sharpen her dagger. She watched him, the tiniest bit intruiged about his odd behavior. It was so unusual from the way she usually acted or had other people act. Onyksi sat down and began to carve a dragon out of wood that she'd already started, pulling it out of her quiver. "Selvä." She nodded to him absent-mindedly. Onyksi continued to carve the dragon, its wings splayed out elegantly. She caught a whiff of blood, but didn't pay any mind to it. It smelled odd, but again, she didn't really care. Onyksi sighed and began to hum a native tune to herself, called 'Tanssit Kuun.' She would wait for him; she didn't care.

Re: Play The Card [Experienced]
Ru didn't see the dragon wooden statue Onyksi got out of her quiver, he left in a hurry, knowing he was delaying her. A moment later he was wading slowly through the shrubs and leafs and branches till he could hear the small animals. He hated sneaking, he was terrible at it by nature, but years of traveling tought him enough, he didn't got close enough to catch the hares, instead he waited for a couple of minutes, letting them get used to his presence. Now however, came a part the he loved - he could perform one, single strike with such a complete silence that the animals couldn't notice it unless they saw him, even the air didn't move when he did that. He held his sword like a javline, and waited for the right moment, and there it was, there were two hares in line with him, and they stood close to eachother. He kept his feet in place and turned his body one way, getting twisted a bit like a spring, then releasing the stress slowly, letting the air glide off him without a sound and at the last moment using his momentum and all the force he could muster, hurling his greatsword forward. The sword penetrated the first hare and pinned the secound to the ground, the rest of them skipped away quickly. Ru cleaned and sheathed his sword, held the hares by their ears and went back to Onyksi. When he got to her he offered her one of them, gesturing with his hand "Ateria ennen matkaa?". Then e noticed the wooden figurine "Tämä on mukava työ".
[ i guess thats alright then, and i have no idea what fluff is in this matter, but you're alright too xD ]
edit:
Onyksi didn't respond, she seemed entranced with the statue... "What am i doing here? Walking alongside an assassin... i should be out of here, out of this forest" he thought. Giving another glance at Onyksi, he dashed off unnoticed, to safety and dinner.

After a couple of minutes running he stopped and cursed himself loudly 'vaikka minulla on karkotettu, minulla on vielä tämä kirottu kunnia, ja lisäksi hän tarvitse sitä'... He ran back and thrust one of the bunnies into her face "Olen aikeissa mennä, haluat yksi?" he asked, plainly showing he'd rather be going.

Onyksi's highly trained ears easily picked up the footsteps that the male was returning. She sighed and looked up from her carving as she smelled the smell of dead rabbit filled her nostrils. She reeled back momentarily, "Jos olisin halunnut yhden, olisin pyytänyt sinulta yhteen aikaisempaan." Onyksi shot him a glance, pushing the rabbit away from her face. "Minne olet menossa?" Onyksi asked, mostly to be polite. She'd already turned her head and was continueing to pick on the detail of her carving.
