For a long time the grey stallion by the name of Silver had roamed, he was once a famous race horse able to outrun most horses. But the one thing he wanted and could never have, was a family. He had been gelded at the age of 2 and then escaped at 5, and had now wandering around on his own for 2 years. Now standing alone in this feild, he grazed happy and content for the moment

[ That's all right. :] ]

Sparrow looked on with interest, her black coat gleaming in the shadows of the forest just on the edge of the open field. She eyed the stallion warily, keeping her tentative footsteps completely silent. Maybe she should make her presence known…? She wasn’t completely sure. Stallions gave her the shivers sometimes. He looked distant. Sparrow tilted her head and accidentally sneezed as a butterfly landed on her nose. Her eyes widened as she stood alert, wondering if the stallion had heard her.

Silver bolted a short distance hearing a short sharp noise, realising it was the sneeze of another horse, he turned and laughed lightly. He shook his mane and looked over to her, she was indeed a beautiful mare. But her kept his distance she seemed jumpy, but not as much as he was, she was the first horse that he had been even remote in contact with for about 2 weeks. Silvers, dapple grey coat caught a ray from the sun and his beautiful colour shone. He smiled gently to the mare, unsure on what to do

Sparrow couldn't help but laugh when the stallion bolted. She walked out from the tree's canopy, not daring to get too close to the stallion. He seemed... different ... from other stallions. Not at all fearless, and quite unsure of his surroundings. Sparrow, however, had been here for many long years, and was quite sure of any dangers that may be lurking around these parts. And he certainly was not one of them. She smiled back to him and let out a soft whinny. "Hello," she commented casually, trying to make him and herself feel comfortable.

Silver raised his head higher and listened to her soothing voice, his body was visibly calmer and he replied with a smooth voice " Hello there miss..."he said politely, giving a small bow his head.

Sparrow nodded her head in return, amazed at how quickly this conversation was becoming stiff. She decided to continue to prod a bit, "I'm Sparrow." She gave a soft smile as she looked him in the eyes, tail swishing casually. She snorted as bugs crawled around on her face, and shook her head to get them off. "What are you doing around these parts?" She asked, tilting her head slightly, mane falling to one side of her face.

Silver watched as the bugs continued to harrass her and him both, flicking his tell in a warning to them. " Hello Sparrow, my name is Silver..I ran away from my owners..." He said, not mentioning he was a race horse as alot of them were gelded. He wanted company for a little longer.

Sparrow nodded slightly, "Hello, Silver..." she replied, then listened to the rest of his tale. "Oh, I see." The fact he'd been owned unsettled her. "I don't mean to prod," she said quickly, "but why did you run away? I've heard owned horses get lots of food, attention, and grooming. To me, it seems as if us wild ones are the strays, and the owned ones are the top dogs." She sighed a bit, and waited for his answer.

Silver sensed her discomfort, he let out a short sigh and then proceded with telling his story. " Well I was a race horse, then after me winning my last race I was retired..I got bored not racing..so I race away.." I didn't want to tell her, because she might leave and I wanted some company other than myself. I lowered my head..

Sparrow nodded slightly. "Oh," she pretended to understand. She knew what a racehorse was, but she didn't know what was making him so uncomfortable. Quietly, she walked closer to him and used the top of her muzzle to lift his head back up. "It's not a problem," she replied quietly. "I won't judge, if that's what's bothering you..." she added hastily.

Thoroughly confused at his distress, she tilted her head. "Why would I have reason to judge you? What's the matter?" She asked, feeling awfully stupid. She stomped her hoof, frusterateed with herself. "Forgive my stupidity. I'm not very familiar with the world of owned horses..."

Silver looked away from her, he wanted to tell her but he couldn't quite bring him self to say...in his head he screamed at himself to tell her... * I was gelded...*, many stallions had chased him down and bullied him for being a gelding. He looked back at her and mumbled.." The human gelded me..." It was hardly audible

"Oh," Sparrow realized, nodding her head slowly. She shifted uncomfortably, then tilted her head. "No matter, then. That means nothing to me." She smiled encouragingly, hoping he'd cheer up. "No need to be gloomy about it, eh?" She nudged his shoulder gently.

Sparrow laughed and stood there for a moment, "That's better." She couldn't help but notice how fast he was. She made her stride longer, but she couldn't completely catch up to him. Her head was level with his hip, but that's all the advancement she could gain on him. "Dang, you're fast!" She exclaimed, but continued to run alongside him. "How many races did you win?" She asked in between breaths.

Sparrow was greatful when he slowed down, and let out a puff of air. She wasn't fast, but she had amazing endurance and stamina. She continued to stride alongside him without tiring. "That's a lot of races." She said, amazed. "Too bad they retired you, eh?" She didn't want to make him feel bad, so she hastily added. "At least out here you can run as long and as far and as fast as you want."

Silver skidded to a stop smelling the air more now...he couldn't tell what it was but it was moving closer, at least a mile away though. He looked at Sparrow and said " A lot, I had a leg injury, it healed, but they would not let me race again, incase it broke.." He threw his head up with a happy whinny..smiling at her..

Sparrow skidded to a halt alongside him. "What's the matter?" He seemed to override her question, and she just paced a moment nervously. "I've never broken anything." She commented before kicking up her heels along with him, smiling, too.

Sparrow nodded and shivered. "That sounds painful," she commented and lowered her head, smelling the sweet grass before taking a bite, beginning to graze. The running made her a bit hungry.

Silver also grazed, feeling his stomach rumble. He wondered whether the human would hunt for him. He was very valuble. He hoped that they would leave him alone, silver cantered around happily after finishing grazing
