Heart Of A Dancer had been born in the mountains and led a hard life. Her small herd had no lead stallion, who ahd been caught by the two-leggeds, and the lead mare was sick. Mountain lions, coyotes, and wolves were constantly attacking the herd. When she was only three, she was promoted to lead mare when her the lead mare, and her mother, passed away. She was a good, strong lead mare, independent, loving, and caring, she had a strong will and never let anyone push her down. Then a year later when she turned four, the two-leggeds caught her. She founght strongly and bitterly, hating their ropes and stinging whips, wanting to go back to her mountain home. The old horses who ahd been born with and bred by the two-leggeds looked down upon her in shame, but she didn't care. She redused to eat, drinking only enough to keep her head and strength. Thn one day, a young fool boy came into her pen and left the gate open, thinking her will was broken. She kicked him full in the chest and with her remaining strength galloped away. She never knew what happened to the young man and never stopped to think about her captors, she just wanted to get away from them. She wandered for days, looking for her herd, but could not find them. She ate and drank freely once more, and the hollows above her eyes and on her flanks gradually filled again, along with her back and ribcage. Every ngiht there was the possibility of predators, but she managed to fight them away. In the morning she would graze a moment and get a drink, then keep up a steady canter. She became muscled yet slim, fleet yet strong, and with a will that never had been and never would be broken.
