Savannah Wanders In... (Humans Only Please!) Empty Savannah Wanders In... (Humans Only Please!)

~Savannah~

I ride in on Nekano, his livery chestnut coat gleaming in the sunlight. He flicks his tail and tosses his head slightly. I jiggle the reins of the bit less bridle slightly, and he lowers his head, tucking his head in and arching his neck. His tail flagged behind him, and he lifted his feet high in a prancing walk, his gate long and smooth. I bring him to a halt and look above me. Iridessa circled high up in the sky, her long, sculpted wings spread to their full length of 3.5 feet as she rose on thermals of air before diving back down. I sigh and look back down, running my fingers through Nekano's long, silky mane. A few moments later I slide from his bare back, my feet touching the ground silently, and straighten.

I leaned slightly against Nekano's withers, my hazel eyes looking upon the clearing around me. Hemlocks and spruce trees made up the forest around me, and a large cliff rose into the sky behind the woods. Mountains' jagged peaks rose hundreds of thousands of feet high in the distance. The grass was thick and soft, with a small pond in the center.

I went to Nekano's head and slipped of the bridle. He shook his head slightly and extended his nose towards me, dilating his nostrils and breathing deeply. I breathe back in our little way of hello, and he tossed is head, nuzzling my shoulder before prancing off with his nose near the ground. Once he found a good spot, he dropped to his knees and rolled onto his side, then onto his back, kicking his feet up in the air to scratch his back. Once he was satisfied, he extended his forelegs before him and heaved himself off the ground. Before he had even shaken off the grass from his deep golden red coat, he was off at a gallop.

Nose lowered and extended, powerful loins and muscles collecting beneath him and extending to shoot himself around the meadow, he galloped in large arcs around me. The circles gradually began to slow and tighten, getting smaller and smaller before he was right by my side once more and stopped beside me, barely winded. I smiled and reached up to scratch his forehead. He leaned into my touch and sighed deeply, closing his eyes and wiggling his lower lip. I smile and laugh silently to myself. He opened his eyes and raised his head, examining me with dark eyes. It looked like he had on eyeliner and mascara with the dark ring around his eyes, and I smile again. He sighed again and wandered over to the small pond. After sniffing the water to make sure it was safe enough to drink, he lowered his muzzle to it. But instead of drinking it, he plunged his head in up to the eyes and began blowing bubbles.

He lifted his dripping head and snorted, taking in a deep breath of air, before plunging his nose back in as before, swinging his head from side to side, creating big waves in the water as he walked forward. He pawed at the water when he raised his head, wetting his belly. Then he laid down and rolled in the water to cool off his coat, then stood up once more.

Once he was cooled off, he finally took a long drink of water. My gorgeous stallion was smart; he knew better than to rink the cold water when he was hot and sweaty. He would colic then, and out here he would get no help fast enough, as one person could not help a colicking horse alone.

He raised his head again, his fine ears elegantly pricked forward, neck arched, tail raised. The wind blew his silky mane and tail to the side, but otherwise he stood as still as a sentry. The sunlight caught in his coat and gems seemed to replace his hide, filled with an internal fire that danced across is coat in dazzling beauty. The only thing to be heard was the sound of the birds and other animals inhabiting the forest surrounding us. He then snorted and lowered his head, breaking the silent spell, and began to graze. Iridessa flew down and landed softly on my shoulder, ruffling her feathers and looking quite at home. I smile and pat her beautiful feathers, admiring her beauty, before sitting down criss-crossed. My left elbow propped itself up on my left knee, and my chin fell into my open hand. My right hand played in the grass, fingers running through the silky, lush greeness of it as I thought absently. I opened my min to the creatures surrounding m, seeming to become one with Nekano and Iridessa, before exploring with my mind the other animals and beings surrounding us, all the life that had been created by the Lord himself.
