A Deadly Team (R/M) (Vladimira)
A rumbling wind tumbled through the Redwood Forest bringing the chill of winter on its tail. It rustled the slowly decaying leaves that clung to the high branches of the tree tops and sent the ones no longer clinging to life in a flutter down to the forest floor. The multicolored leaves pooled together on the ground, obscuring the rich dirt with their masses, making food harder to find for smaller creatures. The leaves made a gentle crunch..crunch...crunch as animals scurried over them in search of their nests and burrows, hoping to safely store their goods for the up coming winter before time ran out. Even animals of flight rushed about the tree tops making their final rounds before heading south to escape the impending dreaded season. The sun, lost high up in the sky and obscured by the massive redwoods, did its best to filter through the branches and penetrate down to the ground where it offered warm sanctuaries for anyone passing by. Most where filled with woodland creatures trying to soak up its last final rays before it would disappear for the next 4-5 months.
In one of these particular warm spots stood a small and petite looking mare. She stood with her head hung low to the ground, her ashed mug almost touching the dead leaves scattered about her small hooves. Her left hind leg was cocked in relaxation and she occasionally swished her flaxen tail casually from side to side. She was in a state of pure bliss. The little arabian loved the fall and the winter even better. She was hot blooded and nothing soothed her fiery make up more than the cold, agonizing winter of the Redwood Forest. While all the other inhabitants were busy working and preparing for hibernation, she was frolicking in the dead leaves and waking up early every morning to check for frost on the land. So far she was disappointed.
With a sigh of contempt, the red roan relaxed even further in the sun's pool of warm light. She even went as far as to buckle her slender legs and dropped her tired body to the ground. With a dull thud, her forelegs struck first and then the ground met her plump rear. She tucked in her legs and turned her neck, resting her dish shaped head upon her back like it were a pillow. For awhile, she would just lie there without a care in the world. She had some serious business to attend to, but for right now, it could wait. She just wanted to relax and enjoy the fear and stress of the creatures around her who fretted over the sudden scarcity of food. It drove her to do what she did best. She thrived on other's pain, making her feel invisible and strong. With another sigh, her eyelids fluttering, she sank into a deep sleep.

"I hate autumn," The words came out oddly with his soft accent as he swished his white tail, stamping the ground once or twice as a few dead leaves crunched under the weight of the horse, "Too many leaves everywhere, impossible to stay quiet." With a soft groan of annoyance he wandered on forward, "Where the hell am I anyways?"
He lowered his head a little, pale blue eyes looking for potential threats to his safety in the forest. With his slender white body, he stood out very much against the darkened forest backdrop, so he'd have to keep his guard up, even more so now. When the snow started to fall, then that's when he had an advantage. From far away, hardly anyone could see him coming.
He paused for a moment to inhale the rich scent of the forest, holding his head up proudly as his head scanned the surrounding area. And just for a moment, he thought he caught something in the sunlight ahead...

Re: A Deadly Team (R/M) (Vladimira)
Even deep in sleep, the little mare was well aware of her surroundings. Up close or from a distance, she appeared as a bronzed statue and it often scared other creatures that came to investigate her. Was she real? Was she alive? She was able to hold scarily still and used this to her advantage. It came in handy when she was ready to hunt. Besides being unworldly beautiful, being able to remain completely still for hours drew the attention of many delicacies. And this was one of those instances. As much as she enjoyed lying around in the sun, basking in all its sunny glory, she used it as a hunting technique.
Her skin began to tingle as if millions of little ants were crawling all over her and tickling her. Somebody new was within the confines of her humble abode. They were close, within viewing distance, but she refused to open her eyes and search them out. She knew they saw her and she loved an audience. Finally taking a deep breath, she focused on releasing a set of pheromones that would attract a large kill to satisfy her hunger and hopefully scare off the intruder. And so far the first part of her plan was working because not more than five feet away stood an eight point white tailed buck. She smiled to herself and inwardly prepared for the dance of death and feast. Faster than lighting, the tiny mare was on her hooves and encircling the deer in an invisible trap of sweet pheromones. He had no idea what was about to happen. Catching him off guard, she gracefully swept in and took hold of his throat in her maw and with blinding speed, knocking him off his hooves. He went down with a dull thud, his spine not longer intact. He was paralyzed with not only fear, but with the inability to move for the rest of his time on the Earth. The next two minutes. With a angelic smile and devilish topaz eyes, she swooped down and tore his jugular from his throat, but not before the sunshine glinted off her two fangs. The buck's light went out almost immediately as he lie there, the hole in his throat gurgling fresh blood. The Arabian spat out his jugular and dipped her head down to latch onto the spurting vein to drink her fill and feast from her victim, her fiery tail elevated and waving gently in the fall breeze like a victory banner.
She could only hope the intruder was smart enough to leave or he could end up the same way her dinner did.

Re: A Deadly Team (R/M) (Vladimira)
He watched with such fascination. What an interesting coincidence that there was more like him in the world. He slowly moved forward, tail flicking and leaves crunching under his weight, he called out, "That really wasn't necessary. Impressive, but I'm not exactly frightened off." He stopped in his approach a few meters away from the mare and her feast, appearing completely still as he dipped his head down, snorting, He then purposefully brought his head back up and yawned, exposing his long fangs, an echo to the ones belonging to the mare. He then stopped and simply stared at her, pondering what would happen next. If she attacked, it would be an interesting dance.. But he'd much rather have an intellectual conversation with another one of his kind. So instead he stood still, watching and waiting for her response to his intrusion on her rest and her hunt.

Unlatching her fangs, she elevated her head and turned slowly towards the sound of someone, her uninvited guest no doubt, approaching her. Something was oddly familiar about this creature headed her way, and not the fact that it was another equine or that she recognized it, but something deeper. The white stallion stood a few meters away from her, his ice blue eyes holding something within them that she was often told her's held. She tensed slightly when he suddenly dipped his head and came back up, giving her a yawn and showing off his own teeth. Her upper lip raised into a snarl but then she cooled and finally allowed her body to relax and move. He was one of her kind. It came to her as a surprise being she hadn't seen another of her species since her training.
With narrowed topaz eyes, the little mare watched her brethren debating whether or not he would be worth a fight. As tradition goes, one was to protect their land from anyone who may attempt to steal it, but he seemed as though he were just passing through. The mare's ears pricked forward at the light sound of his voice and her skin trembled for reasons unbeknownst to her. Shaking it off, she coolly asked, "Who are you?" Keeping her eyes on him, she lowered her head and took hold of the buck by his back leg. She started dragging him out of the sun pool and into a darker spot where she would keep him and save him for later.
