Dust whirled as the kirin fled around the small arena. Bright lights reflected off her silver colored scales and the horn that protruded from her forehead. Dirt matted her fur. She whirled around, legs nearly flying as she sought out an escape. Dark eyes were wide with fear. Stasia bleated with distress, looking up at the rows of humans that surrounded her. The only thing that seperated her from them was the five foot tall concrete wall and chain link fence that was securely fastened on top. They laughed at her, occasionally yelling out bids or the more common taunt. The kirin continued her fear driven run around the arena, bounding away when the closest human yelled at her. It felt liked a layer of dust coated her lungs, and Stasia coughed, blinking as she came to a stand still. The humans fell silent. Someone must've won. Pain exploded in her legs and shoulder as a chain flew from a newly opened doorway, wrapping around her fore legs and yanking her to the ground. Struggling to regain her breath, Stasia kicked and rolled, trying to free herself. She bleated pitifully. Darkness enveloped her, and the light of the arena was shut out by the thick iron door. The chain chafed her legs, rubbing away the brown and grey fur. Scents of death and despair flooded her senses. Other mythical creatures peered out at her from stalls or crates, a sad, defeated look in their eyes. Stasia's own eyes hardened. She would not be broken, no matter what they did. Her captor pushed her into a stall meant for a horse, filled with musty old straw. It was more than others got. The chain fell from her legs, and disappeared as the door to her prison closed.
Stasia allowed a few tears to slip out, along with a choked sob. How had she gotten here? It was such a distant memory. Kirins were valued for their scales, and sometimes the human forms they held. Stasia wasn't sure if they knew about her human form. She hoped they didn't. The things that happened to human slaves in this place was disgusting, and it was the last thing Stasia wanted. If they wanted to kill her for her fur and scales, then she would fight. But not reveal her human form. Not unless she escaped. Stasia licked the areas on her legs where the chain had rubbed, sighing softly. A creature somewhere in the room howled, and humans yelled. It was followed by a yelp and a heavy thud. Wincing, Stasia scooted farther back, and hoped for the best.
(Basically, some guy bought a kirin, expecting a kirin. After they get to whereever they are going, Stasia shifts and makes an escape attempt. And then, it can go anywhere from there.)

Bradley
The smell of dirt and various animals flooded Bradley's nostrils as he entered the doors of the auction house. Looking around, he saw the crazed looks on all the peoples' faces. Then he thought It's just an auction, why does everyone get so worked up? He knew what he had came here for, and intended to get it. He searched the caged animals, looking for the kirin. He didn't know exactly why he wanted one, but just knew that's what he came here for. Finding a place in the crowd, he sat down and waited for the line of creatures to come through. He would wait for however long he needed to wait, if it meant finding a kirin. After what seemed like ages, he saw the scaled creature enter the ring. Standing up, he took a good look at the beautiful creature. He saw the pain in her eyes, and he could feel his stag's emotions starting to surface. Blinking twice, thinking, he threw up his hand and bid. He could tell there was something different about this one, and wanted to know more. No matter the cost, he wantedthis badly. After some arguments and many bids, he eventually won.
Not being able to wait, he followed the people where they were taking her, handing them the money. He went to the stalls, ready to claim what he bid on. The animals that didn't get bought.. they killed them. I walked through the halls, trying not to look to the sides. All kinds of whines and howls escaped their lips before their final breath. I closed my eyes and found the way to the stall the kirin was in. The other animals could sense he was not just human, he hoped the other people didn't notice. Opening her prison doors, the others took her into a cage and loaded her into his truck. When they left, he looked into her eyes. Something inside him tingled, wondering if she knew he was a shifter. Bradley knew she was a kirin, but was that all? He looked at her suspiciously, seeing that she wanted so badly to escape. He couldn't take his eyes off her. Still standing there, his mind wandered...

Stasia opened her eyes, watching light filter through the darkness as the door opened. A thick, braided rope found its way around her neck, and jerked Stasia to her feet before she could register anything. Tossing her head, the kirin was dragged from the cell. She set her hooves, trying to get purchase on the concrete floor. The rope tightened, making it difficult to breathe. The man dragging her jerked harder, sending Stasia stumbling forward with a hitched gasp. A cage, barely tall enough for her to stand in, awaited at the end of the rows of other cages and stalls. Before she could try to fight, Stasia was forced into it. The door closed, and Stasia peered out from between the bars. Light momentarily blinded her as they brought her outside. Fresh air washed over Stasia, and she sucked it in greedily. They loaded her into a truck, and Stasia fell to her knees. Instead of regaining her footing, Stasia let her back legs follow. Resting her head against the bars, the kirin flicked her tail.
A man, who she assumed was the winner, surprised her. She didn't flinch, just searched his eyes for the comfort she so desperately needed. He didn't glare, didn't look at her with the same hunger money greedy men did. It was nice. Dipping her head gently, Stasia dropped her head and closed her eyes. A cool breeze washed over her, and with a snort, Stasia fell into a doze.

Bradley smiled slightly as he watched the kirin go into a light sleep. Securing the tailgate, he walked to the driver's side and got in. Driving away, he looked at the animals remaining, feeling sorry for them. In all their eyes he could see sadness and pain, knowing they did not deserve to be treated like this. He shook his head and pulled out of the auction parking lot, heading home. Bradley lived very far away from that place, some place in the mountains. Hardly anyone knew about the cabin he had up there. That is where he would keep the kirin, hoping she wouldn't try to escape. Traveling up winding roads, he eventually reached a dirt road that led to his home. He had a place to keep her, a fenced area outside his house that went into the forest, almost like a sanctuary. There were no other animals in there of course, but there used to be. Reaching the cabin, he put the truck in park and opened the tailgate to get the kirin out.
Opening the gate to the fenced area, he brought her over in the cage. Being cautious, he started to open the door to let her out. "Don't worry.. you'll like it here" he said softly, reassuring. Opening the door to her cage, he watched to see how she would react to this new environment.

(I'm curious, what kind of fence is it? And height?)

Stasia slid forward slightly as the truck came to a stop, and groaned. She stretched out as far as the cage would allow, and blinked her eyes open. The tailgate open, and the kirin leaped to her hooves, glancing around nervously. Stasia examined her surroundings, picking out possible escapes or anything that she could make one. She spread her legs to stableize her self as he moved her, and made no move to leave as he opened the door. "Doubt it..." She muttered in the kirin language, just a low grown beneath her breath. Stasia liked how it went off into the woods, and wondered if any tree branches went over the fence. That would be an escape.
Slowly, she stepped out, cautiously at first. Once all the way out, she took off at a brisk trot, looking the fence over. With her hooves raising small clouds of dust, Stasia disappeared into the trees, bobbing her head as she searched for her escape.

Re: ℓєαяηιηg тσ ƒℓу (я)
(Just like one of those fences they use to keep deer and elk off of highways, if you know what I'm talking about, probably 10 feet high)
Bradley watched the kirin with curiousity, waiting for her to get out of the little prison cage. He could tell she was not very happy, and was also nervous. He wondered why she was that way. He was giving her a new home, probably way better than what anyone else at that sale would have done, and she still seemed upset. As he heard her make a low pitched noise, he could feel the stag's emotions come through. Being a shape-shifter himself, he knew what she had just said. Standing up, he closed the gate and loaded the cage back into his truck.
Bradley knew he would have to show this kirin his stag form sooner or later. It would be better if it were sooner. He knew there was something different about this one... and wondered if changing into his stag form would alarm her or comfort her. Would it scare her? Or would it let her know she's not alone? Bradley walked around outside of the fence, knowing that she wanted to escape. Still in human form, he mumbled some words in his stag language, wondering if she'd recognize them. "Why do you want to escape?"
(Sorry for my ignorance, but what's SSS?)
