Rainy Days [T]

Flasher sat in the den, her jaw set. Outside it was raining hard. She could hear the trees groaning and the grass crying as they received too much water. Flasher knew that her den would flood if she didn't get to high ground. She dashed out of the den and her paws slipped on the mud. She raced up the slope that led to the top of her den and climbed up it. She reached the top and stood there, the rain like bullets against her skin. Flasher howled to any other wolves that would be in the area.

Diablo padded through the clearing, his appearance definitely looking dominant. Hearing the howl, he twitched his ears before bending his head back and returning the howl. Diablo's paws carried him towards the sound in the pouring rain, and saw a fae with a flooded den. He was surely going to try and help. His brown pelt was soaked, but his aqua blue eyes showed no interest in getting wet. "Excuse me fae, for intruding. But I think I might now a den near by, up on a slope so it doesn't flood." He suggested, dipping his head. Diablo was always the one to help another. The wind blew through his pelt, and it whistled through the air.

[Blackberry]

Flasher jumped. She hadn't expected a wolf to appear so quickly. "Um, okay," she said warily. Her soaked pelt was so cold against her skin and she was trembling. Her pelt was smeared with mud and grass and her amber eyes were wide. Flasher wondered why she was going with this male - he looked scary and dominate. She was small and weak. The wind battered her fur and she curled her black lips back against the wind. She lowered her head and climbed down the slope.

"Follow me." He said, which his voice sounded booming, but he kept his tone soft. Diablo lead her to the den. It was big and quite warm. "It will be comfortable here. My name's Diablo, by the way." Diablo told her, a soft smile on his face. His ears twitched, and his aqua eyes flashed.

Flasher blinked at him, her large ears flicking back and forth. "Nice to meet you, Diablo," she said. She didn't trust him well enough to tell him her name. She cocked her head to the side. "It better be," she added, scratching her side with a hind paw.

Diablo's eyes blinked back at her, no threat in them. "Nice to meet you to." He replied, laying down tiredly. "Sure hope you didn't leave anything in your den. It'd be history by now." Diablo joked, twitching his ears.

[Blackberry]

Flasher shrugged. "I don't keep things in my den. The only thing there would be old prey bones and possibly some bedding." She shook her body free of water adn then flexed her aching muscles.

Diablo nodded and yawed. He laid on his side, looking up at the fae. "So what's your name?" He asked politely, lifting his head to face her. His blue eyes searched her amber.

[Blackberry]

"That's not important," Flasher said, carefully avoiding his question. "What is important is the other wolves. Do you think they're okay? What about any pups? Or prey? Do you think the prey run away?" Her tail twitched back and forth, head still cocked.

Diablo chuckled. "There are no pups around here. Most wolves move them to higher grounds anyways." He replied, his dark blue eyes only showing interest.

[Blackberry]

Flasher glanced at him. "Mating season is coming up soon," she pointed out. "There will be pups everywhere, and I'm worried that there will still be these dumb floods everywhere, and a pup might drown." She sighed. "I think all the wolves of this area should leave."

[P r o m i s e r]

Diablo gulped as she said 'Mating season'. Diablo had always wanted a mate. But fae's were never able to accept him.

Flasher noticed him gulp. She lifted an eyebrow.

"I've never known a fae that would accept me." He told her, reading her expression.

[Blackberry]

Flasher flicked her tail. "Maybe you weren't pushy enough," she said with a shrug.

[P r o m i s e r]

"No." He answered, sighing heavily.

[Blackberry]

Flasher shrugged again. The rain thumping outside was growing lighter and not as loud as before. She hoped it would clear up soon - leaving would be much easier.

Diablo yawned, and rested his head on his paws.

[Blackberry]

The rain was growing softer and then it grew to a dull thud. Flasher got up and stood at the entrance, tail flicking back and forth.

"What is it?" Diablo asked, looking out of the den.

[Blackberry]

"The rain's gone," Flasher said without looking at him.

[P r o m i s e r]

"Bout' time." Diablo growled, smelling the damp air.

[Blackberry]

The fae turned right and bounded in that direction, not even bothering to say goodbye.

"Hey, wait!" Diablo yowled.

Flasher skidded to a stop, her paws slushing through the mud. "What?" she asked.
