Maurice eyed an apple tree. He was tall for an arabian, most arabians being 14hh and him being 16hh, so he could reach them. But he wanted to make them last, so he just kind of stared. He had nothing to do. He kind of had land, but he wasn't sure if another stallion was already here, but so far nobody had opposed him. Still, he needed mares. He wanted beautiful arabian mares to make beautiful arabian foals. Nurturing was in his nature, as was being protective. He needed a family to look after. He shook his mane and broke into a floaty arab trot to the other side of the clearing, laying down into the soft springy grass and nibbling at it softly. It was like heaven here, especially compared to his old home in the desert. There were very few flies, which would be especially good for his foals, who's tails would be too short to flick them away. There was shade for when it was hot, and sun for when it was cold. It was more luxury than a horse like him needed, since he was more than well adapted to living in barren lands. He was a born scavenger, but that didn't mean he couldn't appreciate a good lush place to raise a family. He just needed mares.

Loly pop watched her stallion with a snort and shook her mane, she wasn't found of their new home and was still a bit startled. Her body was tense, her nostrils flared, and the white of her eyes showing. She listened to their suroundings with erected ears, her breaths deep and pankicked. Suddenly a laugh came from behind her and a yell as Star passed her, "Come on!" She yelled seeing plenty to explore, she headed in a derection that seemed to be most intresting to her. Lolly pop jumped startled then stunned with shock she watched her acting like a foal again, unafraid of the world. "N-no thanks." She stuttered with a trembling voice. Trotting out to Maurice she stood near him and grazed. Star trotted about checking the new land out intill she grew board and galloped back to graze with them.

Maurice rose his head and pricked his ears forward, looking at his giddy mares. Lollypop was nervous as usual. He stepped over to her calmly, as he always did with her, since she was so easily startled. He nibbled gently at her coat. "Easy, it's safe here." He said soothingly. He watched Star gallop around with anxiety. "Don't go too far. We haven't been here long." He warned, listening even more intently than usual for danger. They needed to find a water source, but he didn't want to move his mares yet, so he paced around the area, nose to the ground, trying to sense underground water like he was so used to doing in the desert. He stopped at an area near a cluster of bushes and began to paw the ground vigorously, upturning grass and dirt. Slowly as the ground deepened it turned to mud and then a small puddle. He shook his mane, snorting with accomplishment. "Thirsty?" He said, turning to Star and Lollypop.

Chocolate Rose-
Lolly pop listened to him nodding but stay close to him at all times. When he began pawing she watched him cunfused, "What are yo-" she stoped amazed by this. "Thank you." She said gratefully and lowered her head to sip some up. Soon enough she felt another velvet muzzle rub agents here. Once done she raised her head, water droplets rolling down her muzzle and dripping into the water.

Star Dust-
Star nodded to him then countied grazing. At his question she lifted her head and looked over surprised,"Nice job." She said trotting over and lowering her head to drink. She finished a little while after her friend. "Thank you." She said turning to walk up to Lolly pop and groom her.

Maurice nuzzled Star then trotted up around in front of them, head up high and alert. He stared into the trees. They were sheltering, but something about them seemed threatening. Probably because they were new here, and he didn't know what was around him and his small herd. He jerked his head around at every rustling of a bird in a tree, or drop of an acorn. Soon though, he decided it would be okay for now. He went back to Star and Lollypop, resting his head on Star's withers. He eyed them fondly with large expressive eyes. "This will be good for our foals, don't you think?"

At the same time both grooming mares stoped to look at him and say, "Yes" then giggle, "Jinx" Lolly pop said playfuly.


(Eeeeeeeek! Short and horrible, I'm sorry.)

(Its okay. Sorry I took so long, I was at the barn lol. Also are they like pregnant already or should they mate or what?)

Maurice jerked his head around at a louder-than-usual rustling in the more wooded area. He herded Lollypop and Star further back before going to investigate, stepping cautiously into the trees. His nostrils flared loudly. Big, yellow eyes stared back at him; Coyote. He snorted aggressively, pinning his ears against his head and violently biting the coyote, drawing a good amount of blood. The coyote yelped and jumped at him, aiming to bite his neck. Maurice reared and hit the coyote with long spindly legs. The coyote yelped some more and limped away quickly, and Maurice bit him again and chased him further into the woods, then came back to his mares. He shook his mane, nostrils still flaring. He lowered his neck and stood in front of them, looking around for any more. But he saw nothing, and soon relaxed. He turned back to them, nuzzling them both. "Don't worry it may take a while for these animals to learn not to come here, but they will learn. It was just a coyote anyways." If it had been a cougar, he would have chased it off and moved the herd elsewhere, but coyotes were something that would be everywhere no matter where he went, and they weren't nearly as much of a threat as a cougar. Maurice was a skinny, lithe and spindly horse, but he was tall and much more powerful than he looked, so coyotes didn't worry him much as long as they stayed away from the mares.

Lolly pop was greatful and happy with his action but Star looked quite pissed," It didn't do anything wrong!" She said angerily.

(Ok this is a horrible post, sorry. My muse is on fantisy stuff latley.)
