Ruthless (horsegoddes) Shadow_Hound_by_slyeagle (Not a blood hound, but I liked it)

Takeshi stretched out on the cold stone floor, his strong jaws opening in a long yawn. He could smell fresh meat, wafting from the bowl only a couple feet from his nose. His name meant fierce and violent, or warrior, and he had lived up to that very very well. Takeshi had lived up this name very well, seeing as his rare breed, the shadow hound, supposedly crossed with a hell hound, were very aggressive and intelligent. He procrastinated getting up, but his rumbling belly reminded him that he should probably be ready when he master came in.

Takeshi stalked through the forest, hot on the trail of a fox. The fox had been killing the turkeys, and his master became infuriated to the point where he sent his ferocious dog after it.

(that was a terrible first post, but yeah, it will get better)

Piper pranced through the meadow. although the grass was brown, and the sun was not bright, Piper was not easily disheartened by little matters like this. Piper focused on the joys of life. he was in his peak young ages and was showing it. He took long and high leaps into the air. Piper was so preoccupied, that he didn't even notice that a hound was on his trail.

(sure. and Takeshi isn't full grown either, just large for his age)

Takeshi tested the air, his lip lifting up to reveal a shiny white fang. He was careful to make no sound as he turned his long pinted snout towards the scent, and took off with a graceful jump. He spotted the fox, obviously unaware of the deadly predator on his trail. Most would be stirred by the image of youth, and even at 1 1/2, Takeshi felt no compassion for the fox. He slunk through the dying meadow, a slinking shadow. He waited till he feet from the fox, and launched himself over the remaining distance, aiming to land on the delicate frame.

Piper paused his prancing and lowered his head to the ground. he was following an ant with his nose. he is a very observant fox and appreciated little details of mother nature. but while his thoughts scurrying alongside the ant, he felt a great weight be thrown upon him. he tumbled a couple of feet, with the weight clinched to him. Piper thrashed his legs about, trying to right himself, but he was trapped under something. Although Piper was at his peak mental ages, he still hadn't developed a full grow foxes body. he continued to struggle unter the weight, his adrenaline pumping.

Takeshi snarled at the fox, batting him over with a paw so he could see the predator he was facing. His almost glowing amber eyes glared straight into those of the fox. "You will make a wonderful hat for the mistress, won't you?" The hound growled, and rolled the fox over again, picking him up by the nape of his neck. "Don't struggle, and it won't hurt." Takeshi growled through the fur, and took off at a dead run, the fox swinging from his jaws.

Piper was terrified. When he finally collected his thoughts and processed what attacked him, he was very fearful. He did not respond to the comment that the hound snarled at him, he just layed there pinned to the ground and in shock. When the two met eyes, Piper's were wide with fear. Piper just layed there terrified, shocked, and paralyzed with fear. In the jaws of the hound, Piper recollected himself once more. Because a fox was a shy animal, his response was to flee, not fight. As soon as the dog unclamped his jaws around Piper's scruff, he attempted to run.

Takeshi wondered if it was possible for him to feel sorry for the fox, being small, young and defensless. He dropped it at a small creek, hoping it would be to scared to run, but he was wrong. The hound took off after the fox, snarling and telling him he would regret that. "I'm not to return unless I have you! I'll chase you every day, every night until I catch you!"

The hounds words were swept away by the wind and distance between them. He ran as fast as he could away from the hound. he dove under and over fallen trees. he wove in between trees and rocks, he leaped over small streams, he kept running. he used his agility to distance the hound from him.

Takeshi felt himself stumbling, felt his paw twisting and a bolt of pain shot up his front leg, causing him to fall and tumble off a small outcrop of stone. His yelps echoed off the valley walls, and the hound lay there, his eyes wide with pain. He was to far from home for his master to hear him, and his master wouldn't come looking for him anyway, and by the time he did, Takeshi would be dead. The hound tried moving his front leg, and found that it hurt like hell to do just that. Every breath hurt, and the hound could feel blood trickling from somewhere.

Piper heard the sharp yelp a distance behind him. he slowed down to a halt, then slowly turned his head. Why would a fox turn back towards the predator? no other fox would have, except for Piper. His curiosity kept nagging at him, and he had to go investigate. piper trotted a ways back, untill he reached the hound. he kept his distance, and just kept looking straight at him. he was very alert, and even though he knew that it was most likely that the hound could not hurt him in the state he was in, he was wary. he just kept standing there, looking at the hound suffering.

Takeshi felt the pain fading, and decided he could move. The moment he shifted, pain shot through him once more, an a second yelp erupted from his throat. He wasn't aware of the fox that watched him, but instead focused on the pain.

When piper heard another yelp pierce his big furry ears, he instinctively bolted in the other direction, then stopped, turning back in the direction that the wounded hound was in. he slowly krept back closer to the hound, and softly whispered, "Um excuse me, are you okay?"

Takeshi panicked when he heard the fox, ignoring his bodys protest and swinging his head up to look at him. "Do I look okay?" He snarled, struggling to stand and sink his teeth into the fox's throat.

Piper took a step back as he struggled. he didnt want to take any chances. But for some reason. Piper stayed put. He defied all prey laws by not bolting out of sight. For some reason, Piper remained. Even he couldn't figure out why. Maybe it was his kind or caring personality, or curiosity. When the hound snapped at him, Piper did not respond. He did not want to anger him any more. Piper stood, there watching the dog struggle. his curiosity dominating his instinct.
