We cant save him now for it is too late. We must do as we do when something dies, return it to the Earth..

Back in the day, grave digging was considered an underground sport. It was played by the shadows of night under the guidance of the moon. It was a dirty, disturbing game of finding a fresh grave and digging up the remains of the occupant to sell or use. It made profit and if you scored big, you made big. But of course some loss big. Much like this sad tale you are about to read, someone loss big..very big.

Here Lies Savage: Beloved Family Horse

"Ah, Jack this one oughta be a good one."
Jack picked up the rusty shovel he had placed on the ground near his feet and took a step forward so he could read the tombstone that was lit beneath the faint glow of his master's lantern. "It's a new one." he commented.
"No shit, ya fool!" his master hissed and swatted his head. "Now dig!"
Jack winced and quickly began to dig. The plot was fresh and moist so the dirt was easy to remove. He tossed it over his shoulder and worked at a steady pace until the large box was uncovered. It was plain old crate with a date carved into it and two locks. Jack used his shovel to dig out around the box so his master could step down and inspect it.
"Climb back up there and hook Darth up to the box with those chains." the master ordered.
The young servant scampered up the incline and backed the sturdy stallion up towards the grave. He took the chains and dropped back down into the hole where he proceeded to hook the chains around the crate. "Ready boss." he said and stared down at the dirt.
The master laughed a sick, wheezing laugh and climbed out of the hole. He sat atop Darth and kicked at his sides, shouting for him to go. The big stud lurched forward with a cry of rage and put all in weight into pulling the crate from the hole. The team worked for hours, deep into the night trying to pull the crate from the ground. Finally, Darth had it free and the trio escaped unseen back to their home.
"Let's see what we got!" the master shouted with excitement as he waited for Jack to break the locks on the box. Using the shovel, he busted each one and lifted them away. "Move, boy move!" the greedy master huffed as he shoved him aside.
Lifting up the lid, he gasped and then swooned. "Boss?" Jack asked as he leaned over the big man. Jack peered inside the box and gasped too. In the box lay a dead horse, which is what they knew. But neither one knew what it looked like. The master came to and cried, "Its a devil! Its a damned Arabian for Christ's sake!" His old eyes began to water and he slapped Jack on the back. Jack looked at the massive red pelted stud with pity and started to help his master chain him up and lift him into the air so he could be laid out on a slab to be operated on.

Nearly 18 months later, the master, we shall now call him Zeek, stood back from his work and clasped his hands together. "Jack! Turn it on!" Much like Frankenstein, Zeek intended to rebuild a swifter, smarter horse so he could become rich and famous. His eyes were wide as Jack flipped a switch and the tank the horse was in began to hum and vibrate. The beast inside stirred and then began to thrash about inside the foggy liquid. "He is coming alive, Jack!" he cried as he rushed towards the tank to press his face against it. The horse's eyes flew open and he hurled himself side, throwing his body against the glass sending a crack spiraling up the side of it. He repeated the process over and over again until it shattered, sending Zeek in a scared fit of rage. "Jack! Turn it off!"
But it was too late. The former Savage fell from the suspended tank with all the glass and liquid onto the floor. He gasped for air that he didn't need and flopped about on the dirty floor. Zeek cried with horror, "I have made a monster!" Sure enough, he did. His intentions were to create a fabulous looking creatures with divine beauty and "super powers", instead, he got a fleshless monster with a skull. Protruding from his skull were long, narrow ears and his mouth was filled with razor sharp canines and four long fangs. He was completely drained of the beautiful red color he had before and now glowed a misty white. Savage reared up on his hind legs and stabbed the air with razor like hooves. Zeek tried to escape but Savage killed him instantly and then turned on Jack who had vanished.

Savage stood amidst the chaos of the laboratory with his skull head held high and his fangs exposed. They dripped Zeek's blood that now flooded the floor and mixed with the liquid from the tank. The fat man lay tore open at his feet with his face missing. Savage reared again and sought an exit, fear and excitement pulsing through his dead body. He located a window and barreled towards it. He tucked in his head and leaped, crashing through the thin glass and landed with a thud on the other side. With a loud shriek, he took off into the night.
