A Wolf's Lone Cry of Sorrow
Past~
"Julian! Come here girl!" called Stanley as he picked up the chew toy. The rusty colored Siberian Husky lifted her head and peered at her owner with lavishing blue eyes. Her tail thumped the snow excited as she laid on the ground. He called her again and this time she jumped up and raced to him on powerful legs. She jumped at him and nipped at the toy, trying to reach it for a game of Tug-O-War but he held it playfully out of her reach. "Get it!" Stan teased. Julian yipped and barked as she placed her front paws on his chest and reached with her jaw for the toy and got it. Stan laughed as he stepped back and watched her run off with the toy hanging from her jaws. "Come back girl!" the teen shouted as she bucked and romped in the knee deep snow that had fallen over night. Her ears perked at his voice and she bolted after him, churning up the white powder with every step until she launched herself at him and both fell in heap. Laughing, Stan stroked her thick coat and kissed her head. "I love you girl." he said into her fur and she sat panting beside him.
"Ready Stanley?" his father asked as he walked up to them.
"Yeah dad, just let me get Julian's things." he said sadly. Julian picked up on her boy's sudden change in attitude and whined softly. He seemed sad. She cocked her head to the side and kept her tail still as she watched him go into the house and come back with a box of her stuff. The husky whimpered as he walked by and got up to follow him. She then remembered her toy and jogged back for it.
"Lets go Julian!" Stan called and she trotted to the big pick up. As she was about to hop into the cab, Stan's father caught her and placed her in the bed. "Nope, you ride back here." he said and closed the tail gate. Without complaining, she went to the windows and sat down leaning against the frame. Stan stared at her through the glass and she licked it. The truck began to move and she tried to balance herself on the slippery metal.
Night fell and a terrible storm has blow in, blanketing everything in sight. Julian shivered, even with her thick coat, and barked loudly her complaints but Stanley's father would not let her into the cab. Suddenly, the truck jerked and began to slide along the mountain road hazardously. She tried to hang on, but her paws slipped and she was thrown against one of the sides. Next thing she knew, the truck was tumbling and rolling over and over again down the hill. She was thrown from the bed and landed with a yelp against a tree and was knocked out cold.
Hours later, Julian awoke with a terrible pain in her temple and her eyes were blurry. She tried to recall what just happened and saw the truck in a crushed mess not more than 20 feet away from her. She got up and bolted to the car, barking and yelping at it furiously. "Stan!" she barked as she scratched at the half broken windows. The truck was over turned and the doors were on. The windows had cracks but she couldnt get into them to help her boy. Not even a response came from inside. She hopped on top of the truck and sat down, tossing back her head and howling to the moon like the wolf she wasnt.
Present~Julian
I padded through the shoulder high snow with ease, picking my way carefully over hidden stones and branches from the ice storm. I shivered as i came upon a clearing with a den. I grunted and slowly approached the mouth. Nothing inhabited the inside so i crawled in and curled up in the back. It has been two months since the accident and iv been living out here ever since. I dont like it but the wild will have to do since no town are around here. I hunt my own meals and find my own shelter like my wolf ancestors did. Sighing, my breath lingering around me face, i close my blue eyes and try to sleep thinking of Stanley.
