The Gryphon's Promise [R] (OPEN)
The golden glow of the flames enveloped the lands. A mixture of orange, yellow and red burning everything and leaving it black and burned behind in its wake. Her dark sapphire blue eyes reflected the frightening beauty of the fire as it swallowed everything in its rage. Even in all its terrifying glory, the young chick could not tear her eyes away from it. It amazed her. How such colours could blend together and cause such heat. The fire had taken her brother as prey in its fiery depths, leaving the young chick with only her mother.
Her mother stood next to her, tall and strong, staring at where her brother had once stood. Her brown and red feathers glowing against the flames' golden glow. For a moment longer, she mourned and watched, but then she turned and picked the chick up in her beak and flew off. The smoke in the air was heavy and thick and caused problems with the young chick's breathing. A few moments later, after seeing the flames for a few more terrifying moments, she passed out, welcoming the darkness which swallowed her whole.
When she woke up, but was in a dark place. The young chick panicked for a moment before realising that it was her mother's warm body curled protectively around her. Wriggling out from her mother, the chick looked around. This place was new and strange and she wanted to explore it. But the smell of singed feathers came to the chick's nose. She turned to see the ends on her mother's wings, paws and talons burnt from the flames last night. What had caused the fire, the chick did not know.
The young chick was the biggest out of all the chicks her mother had ever had. And the only one not to only have brown and red colouring. The chick's fur along with her downy feathers were a medium silver. The scales on her forelegs were the same silver but splashed with tawny red, like blood. The small tuffs above her ears were the same red as well as her talons and beak. Her eyes were a dark sapphire blue, unlike all the others, including her mother, who had amber eyes. Her mother was bewildered as to how the young chick came to be, but had never complained about the chick's uniqueness.
The chick sat down and cocked her head to the side, watching her mother sleep. As if knowing she was being watched, the older gryphon stirred and opened her eyes, looking straight at the silver chick. She stood up and stretched, her amber eyes watching the chick closely. "Well, Aderyn, shall we find something to eat?" the adult gryphon said.
Aderyn meant bird and the chick found it half suitable. Afterall, she was half bird, or so the stories told. Huffing in reply, they walked off to find something to eat. Aderyn gathered her mother didn'ts want to risk flying anymore with singed feathers.
They soon a herd of cow near a civilisation of humans. The adult gryphon looked at the chick and ordered her to stay there. Doing as she was told, Aderyn watched as her mother ran into the field, targeting a smaller cow. They scattered but were too slow for her mother. A moment later, the cow was dead and her mother had begun to drag it over.
That day they ate their fill.
Months passed and Aderyn grew bigger quickly and her bewilidered mother could only watch as she outgrew her in a matter of years. Now an adolescent, the young gryphon had lost her downy fluff and now had feathers. She grew the same tawny red on the ends of her flight feathers on her wings and the fur on her tail. Her neck grew a ring of tawny red. On her shoulders, chest and ends of her wings, she was mottled with black and white.
Never before had a gryphon ever had Aderyn's colouring. It was unheard of to have so many colours. To have a base colour of silver was unheard of. Indeed, Asheryn would be a prize should she be found out.
She learnt to fly and speak and hunt and everything else a gryphon knew. They both went hunting together that morning. They targeted a bull in the herd of cows and soon enough they were digging into it.
But then the unthinkable happened. Gryphons with humans upon their backs came surging towards the pair. Bow and arrows, swords and axes in the humans' hands. Aderyn's mother instantly acted, saying to the young gryphon, "promise me to live a long, healthy, happy life, Aderyn," and leapt towards the 5 gryphons, hissing and screeching. She was bigger then the other gryphons, but they were outnumbered.
Her mother and gryphon fought and Aderyn could hear talons clashing together and skin tearing but she dared not look at whose. An eternity later, her mother fell to the ground, dead. Blood pooled around her and Aderyn stared, horrorstruck. Why? Why why why? She didn't understand. What did they do wrong?
The young gryphon stood her ground for a moment before she turned and ran from the oncoming gryphons. She had no chance. If her mother couldn;t beat them, she couldn't. She may havbe been bigger then her mother and stronger, but she had more experience.
Unfortunately, Aderyn was shot with an arrow. She kept running, but minutes later, she collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
When she woke up, she was in a cage. Surrounded by humans.
Years later.
Sitting in the cage beside other cages holding gryphons, humans came to look at them. Every now and then, the now adult gryphon would be taken out to fight other gryphons or the occasional human. It was to the death, so obviously, she had won them all. She didn't like it one bit. She hated killing for others' entertainment. even after so many years, the gryphon wanted to go home back to her land in the West.
Today, though, she was at a gryphon auction. Many wild gryphons, or tame gryphons just being sold were here. but the silver gryphon was neither wild nor tame anymore. She was somewhere in between.
Now, the gryphon was called Rhosyn, which meant Rose. She thought the name was pretty, but hated the name for herself. She wanted Aderyn back. That was her identity.

Re: The Gryphon's Promise [R] (OPEN)
Other gryphons are allowed and other humans. Good or bad, just no wild gryphons, only partnered ones with a human. No rare coloured. Red, browns, yellows, oranges only. But not unatural colours. I mean like rust red, blonde yellow, tan oranges and such.
