Marble nodded at Chance obediently and trotted after him. She smiled at the newcomer and introduced herself. "Hey, I'm Marble." She stood still for a moment and watched in horror as Maddie lept up and killed the fox. "Oh no!" she cried softly but was silenced as Chance showed the magical healing properties of the liquid inside the small, blue, bottle. "Wow..." she breathed, glancing over at Delilah to see her reaction.

"No worries, stick with me, and you won't be hurt for long, nless I hurt you." Chance said, trotting into the forest. After about 20 yards of walking, the pup stood still, sniffing the air. Instantly, he started digging, sending dirt onto the female dogs. He pulled up purple roots, about 6 of them. He tossed one to Marble, to Delilah, and to Maddie. Then 3 more to each of them. He pulled up a seventh root, eating it quickly. "They keep your strength up, and they taste like cream."

Marble jumped when Chance started digging. "What is it?" she asked, worried that Chance had noticed something dangerous. She was relieved when it was just a clump of purple roots. The Pomeranian caught hers in her mouth and chewed happily. "They do taste like cream!" she exclaimed delightedly. She wagged her tail and ran to catch up with Chance, shaking the dirt clods off her coat.

"Purple Argeranian Root, very tasty and good for you. Its the base of most potions." He said, sniffing around for more. Chance found a tattered hankerchief, and put a couple more roots into it, taking it by the edges and picking it up in his mouth. "Ready for adventure?"

"Sure!" Marble yipped, wagging her curly tail even harder. "What kind of adventure?" she asked curiously. The little dog peered at the hankerchief and inhaled deeply. "It smells a little funny, though..." The roots emnating a scent similar to the curdled milk she had tried once. The pomeranian puppy bounced around the others happily and grinned.

"No certain adventure, just a fun one." He said, lifting his nose to the air. "I smell something." He said, dropping the roots and returning to where the roots were. He dug deeper, and discovered a nest of what looked like small green jelly beans. "try them." he said, pawing them out.

Marble nodded agreeably and picked up one of the ovals. She chewed slowly and swallowed. "They taste good. What do they do?"

"For normal dogs, they don't affect you as much, but they still affect you." After chewing about 5, he opened his maw, letting out a deep, roaring bark. Birds fled, and some leaves were blown off the bushes. "Deepen your voice, as well as powering it. Try it."

Marble stepped back, shocked that such a powerful bark bark had come from such a small dog. "Wow!" she stammered and picked up a couple another bean. After chewing and swallowing it, she tried barking, imagining that she was a lioness. Instead of her usual little yip, there was a bark that sounded like that of a hyena's. It wasn't as loud as Chances but it was way louder than she had ever barked before.
