Askai leaped from one boulder of his enclosure to another. Askai had been at the zoo for almost a year now. Usually he was pretty lazy at the zoo, but today he had a reason for excitement. He had heard zoo keepers talking about him being adjusted enough now and they they may be introducing a female snow leopard into his enclosure. He heard large trucks rattling into the back loading area and lots of people gathering. Askai paced anxiously waiting. Getting hot, he trotted over to a shady area and laid under a tree, flicking his tail in anticipation.

kimora was born and raise in captivity all her life, so being around these strange two legged things called humans did not bother her. she was a little bit nervous from the long journey to her new home. from her cage she could hear the humans talking excitedly about her arrival. she made some sounds as the truck doors were opened and her cage wheeled out. the zoo keepers and staff were gushing over kimora about how pretty she was and how she would look good with someone they called askai. kimora paced in her cage as the rolled her to her new home, before she knew it her cage door was open. she was very hesitant about going into the enclosure, but who could blame her especially when there was someone else scent all over the place. she slowly stepped out of the travel cage just standing near the door taking in her surroundings.

Askai jumped to his feet when he saw the cage being loaded into his enclosure. Although this would mean sharing his enclosure with another leopard, Askai was lonely and a companion would be good for him. He stood watching from a distance back in the shadows. Askai was quite curious, but he resisted the urge to walk straight up to the female, wanting to let her become acclimated to her surroundings.

kimora walked a little bit further into the enclosure as she sniffed at things here and there. she trotted over toward the little waterfall and pool crouching down she lapped at the water before scanning around for the other leopard. kimora was still fairly young, she had just turned four and had not been bred before. she walked to a sunny spot that happen to be where the staff and zookeepers were near, kimora laid down and started to sun bathe.

Seeing that the female was comfortable, I stepped out of my shady waiting spot and made my way slowly towards her, my massive paws padding the ground. I went up to her and sniffed her head, then rubbed mine against hers in greeting. I could tell out of the corner of my eye that a lot of people had gathered and the zookeepers were watching intently to see the outcome.

kimora was swishing her tail from side to side as she looked around herself, only to have her attention grabbed from her surroundings as she looked to the shady spot where the male leopard was coming from. kimora stiffened as the male sniffed her head then rubbed his against hers. she rolled over on to her back and playfully pawed at his face like a cub

there was silence from the people watching from outside the enclosure. Askai was pleased the the leopardess had accepted him the way she did. He responded playfully by opeining his mouth and pretending to bite her neck, but not actually touching her with his teeth. He moved his body so he was parallel with her. He placed a paw on the other side of her body and let a playful growl out of his throat. Then he heard the people begin to clap. they were glad that he and the leopardess were getting along so well. This moment had been long awaited.

kimora let out a growl as she used her back paws to paw lightly at his stomach when askai playfully pretended to bite her neck.once he let go of her neck, she wiggled out from under him and jumped back from him as she heard the humans clapping. she pounced forward at the male wrapping her front paws around his neck bringing him to the ground. she started to like his face and neck before trotting over to the pool. she looked back at the male before stepping into the water getting her tummy wet.

Askai fell to the ground with a thud next to the leopard. He had a wide grin across his face. So far he was loving the company of this leopardess and he was the happiest he had ever been since arriving at the zoo. In the background people murmured and laughed. Askai was so gay. He bounded after the leopard, passing her and running into the clear water, his fur becoming wet, and sending up a splash onto the female, getting her wet. He turned towards her, standing chest high in the disturbed water, looking at her playfully. His pelt dripped with water.

before kimora could go into the crystal clear water any further, askai ran right past her into the pool sending water droplets everywhere. kimora shook off the water growled playfully at the male before bounding into the water after him. she splashed him back and pawed at him before jumping away from him and trotting around in the water. kimora sauntered out of the pool shook off the water then started to lick her fur in a sunny spot.

Askai Bounded through the water, chasing after Kimora. He followed her, trotting out of the water, and padding onto the rock ground of the enclosure. Because Snow leapoards are in the rocks, there was only a little bit of grass in the enclosure.It was mostly rocks and dirt. Askai laid down a few feet away from the female. He laied in a scattered shade because being a snow leopard, he got hot easily. That's why their enclosure was some what cooled by a misting and cooling system.

after she had finished grooming her fur, kimora shook her head before stretching out on her side swishing her tail. soon more humans that were visiting the came to see the two leopards.she closed her eyes for bit and took a cat nap, kimora's hers flicked every now and then as she listened to the many sounds around her. she was feeling a bit anxious due to her coming into heat within a day or two.

Askai was very content with his new companion. He fell asleep happily and napped for about 30 minutes. He awoke with a big yawn and he stretched out his legs, unsheathing his claws. Askai was still learning to filter out the sounds of the visiting people, but he was getting used to it. He layed there for a minute, looking at the female. He was so happy and no longer lonely. Askai didn't even realize how lonely he really was. He saw people passing quickly wiithout them doing anything. He decided to get up and go to the water and get a drink of water. He sauntered over to the pool and lowered his body into a crouching position and began to lap up the frigid water.

kimora rolled over onto her back as she laid on one of the heating rocks swishing her tail, sending off the ligth scent of her coming into heat. she watched askai walk over to the waters edge and start to drink but she remand laying of her side swishing her tail, watching the people watch them and walk past their enclosure.kimora stretched her paws out and started to rub her face against her paw as she yawned a little bit tired from the traveling she had down that morning.

Askai lifted his head, water droplets falling from his chin. He smelled a faint smell of heat, something that reminded him of home. When he was in the wild. When female snow leopards wandered. This was the first time he had been with one since the wild. Askai assumed it may have been a tiger or something across the zoo because it was so faint. When he turned towards Kimora though, he could tell it was her. Askai was a bit confused at first. He had bred a few times before in the wild, but he had not since being in his enclosure for almost two years. He stood up and turned towards Kimora, looking at her.

kimora heard askai move, she lifted her head and saw he was looking at her. she tilted her head then sniffed in his direction before flicking her tail once more unknowingly releasing the scent of her coming into heat. she laid her head back down and roled over onto her other side. kimora had been in heat only once before but was never bred, so she did not totally know nor understand what exactly was going on or what was yet to happen.

Because the heat scent was so faint, Askai did not respond as he would as if she was in full blown heat. As soon as the scent would become stronger, Askai's instincts could kick in immediately. He walked closer to her, and laied down next to her, this time only about a foot away. He kept looking at her, his neck stretched up as he laid on the ground.vHe flicked his muscular and fluffy tail. Askai did not fall asleep, and although the nonstop voices piercing through the air continued on, he kept his attention on Askai. Perhaps it was because she had just arrived. Perhaps it was because she was almost in heat. Perhaps, it was both.

Kimora watched as the male snow leopard started to slowly walk over towards her. She did not mind the closeness of the male when he laid a foot away from her. She chirped at him then rolled over onto her side before getting up to get closer to him. She sniffed his head and then the rest of hi. Before she laid down next to him and started to lick his neck

Askai was pleasantly surprised by the feeling of her rough tongue running his spotted fur smooth on his neck. The warmth felt good. He made a grunting noise, inviting her to lay down next to him. When she did, he adjusted his laying position and licked her neck too, just behind her ears. A low grumbling formed from within him, and a soft purr emerged. It slowly faded, and then emerged again. He took his head back to look into her blue eyes, then, he continued to groom her.

(should they know that they're like the last two snow leopards on the planet of their species? Should they know that they have to breed in order to keep their population up?)

kimora purred slightly loud as she laid down next to Askai. she welcomed the warmth of his tongue on her neck, kimora gently batted at his nose with paw before settling down allowing him to groom her. kimora watched Askai and made low grumbles in her throat as if talking to him. her fluffy tail lightly swished back and forth as she laid there getting groomed. soon kimora yawned and shook her head before standing to stretch then sat once again.

( i don't think they should know their the last of their kind or that they have to breed. i think it would be nice to like see zoo keepers get involved to check when she is ready to breed then like maybe move the two of them to a different smaller closure for when they breed. especially since it will be kimoras first time)

(is that how it works? I'm just curious. Do they allow it to happen naturally in zoos or do they do a special thing for them such as putting them in a private enclosure for breeding? Is it because Kimora doesn't feel comfortable out in the open?)

Askai continued to groom her, flattening and straightening her fluffy fur. She stood up to stretch and he tilted his head up to look at her. It was a lazy afternoon with the excitement of getting a new companion. He fell into a lounging sleep, basking on the cooled rocks.

The next day he awoke, in the early morning, before the the sun had arose. He got up, his breath visible by the cold air of the November morning. Askai walked over to the little man made pond in his enclosure, crouched down, and began to lightly lap up the still water, creating ripples.

( well i was thinking since they are the last of their kind it would d be best todo that. also at some zoos they do but male and female into smaller inclosures to make sure they feel comfortable enough to mate since its private.)

kimora looked down at askai and made a little chirp sound. she was happy to see someone of her own kind besides her mother. she yawned before laying down beside her new companion and started to doze off into slumber.

the next morning she heard askai moving but she simply laid there still tired from the events of the day before. after about an hour kimora finally awoke, she slowly stood and began to stretch. she looked over at her male companion and walked over towards the pond. she too took a light drink before yawning. she saw a patch of sunlight and took the chance to bask in the light before the days activities started.

Askai lapped up a little more water, and lifted his head up to look over at Kimora who had gotten up. He lowered his head again to gently lap up some water. His muscular long fluffy tail curled itsself up and then down a couple of times. When he was done drinking, he stood up and loped up to a high rock in their enclosure. This was the height of his activity. Early morning. He made a low but loud moaning roar. He descended the rock and scratched his hind legs on the hard stone and sprayed urine onto the rock. The arrival of Kimora during the daytime has somewhat altered his sleep habits, but he would soon get back into his natural habit. He bounded back up another rock, his long tail balancing him. He climbed the rocks and stood, his breath visible and he could see the sunrise in the distance.
