"No!" Castien's voice was sharp and crude, as he gripped the bars once again. She could feel the electricity mount, see the bars start to sear his palms, just as it had hers. The pain had been excruciating, and she cried out, trying to get him to stop. Seconds later, he had pulled the bars apart with seemingly superhuman strength. Just then, she saw Elohir standing up behind Kulukath, his knife in his hands. "Kulukath!"

Kulukath’s energy was nearly completely wiped out. He had heard Elohir’s shuffling feet, but didn’t bother turning around to defend himself. His mind was dazed; his vision hazy, and his palms were burned. He let himself fall to his knees, trying to gather his senses. “Run,” was all he could manage to mutter to Castien.

[Spritz]

Castien scrambled out of the cage, her bare foot grazing across one of the bars. It delivered a nasty shock, and Castien fell to her knees. "Kulukath!?" He had slumped to the ground, muttering one word, before he ceased to move. Elohir brought the knife down with force, his hands gripping the hilt tightly. "NO!" Castien screamed, before moving forward, falling ontop of Kulukath so her body protected his. Knowing the pain would be terrible, she cried out as she felt the blade peirce her shoulder.

Kulukath was trying to dissuade her, when she jumped in front of him, protecting him from the blade. His mind was still dazed, but he managed to turn around, folding Castien up in his arms and removing the knife, “W-why!” he stated angrily. “Why did you do that!” Kulukath placed a hand on her shoulder, quickly healing it with most of the energy he had left, then pushed her to her feet. “I said run,” he muttered, but made no attempt to move himself. “Go, Castien, if you love me. Go.”

[Spritz]

As Elohir realized what had happened, his face paled and he stepped back, stuttering slightly. "C-Castien!" Castien didn't say a word, her jaw clenched. Biting her bottom lip to ignore the pain, she felt her teeth sink into the soft flesh and winced at the new pain, feeling blood dribbling down her chin. Feeling Kulukath remove the blade made her shudder in pain, and she shook her head as he tried to heal it. "No!" Scurrying backwards, she felt the wound start to close, but the pain didn't subside. Elvish blades werent like other blades. At his words, her face paled. "No Kulukath, I'm not leaving you!" With that, she grabbed his hand and started to drag him, with much difficulty towards the door.

Kulukath gritted his teeth, wrenching his hand from hers. “Castien!” he cursed under his breath, “You have to go!” Kulukath got warily to his feet, a leftover spark of electricity shocking him from the inside out. He cringed and shooed her away. “I have to kill this womanizer,” Kulukath coughed slightly. “I’ll be fine. Just go. It should’ve been me that got hurt with that blade, not you. I don’t want you in danger! Please!” Kulukath was on the verge of begging by now, “Please just go.”

[Spritz]

Elven blades had a nasty sting, and Castien's shoulder felt like it was engulfed in a raging fire. The pain made her head swim, and she realized that Elohir had done something to the blade that had been intentionally meant for Kulukath. As soon as her lover wrenched his hand away from her, her face paled slightly, and she shook her head. "No Kulukath!" She fell to her knees beside him, aware of Elohir, who was starting to make his way towards them. Smoothing his hair from his eyes, Castien leaned down and kissed him softly. "You'll be fine...Rest and regain your strength." She felt Elohir pulling her away from Kulukath, but she didn't fight, turning and walking away with him, if only to save Kulukath's own life.

Kulukath shook his head, “No, Castien, don’t give yourself up to him…!” Kulukath took a trembling step forward, but his legs failed him and he collapsed again, cursing fluently under his breath. “Castien no!” Kulukath pulled himself to his feet with more determination, but couldn’t walk more than a few steps.

[Spritz]

A shiver of cold and misery wracked through Castien, and she felt Elohir's arms wrapping around her. Shuddering, she clenched her jaw as she heard Kulukath protesting, and shut herself out, away from everyone. Closing her eyes tightly, Elohir's arms were encircling her waist, and he was leading her out of the tunnels. She let herself go, let him touch her, but she thought about other things. She thought about the child she was no doubt carrying, she thought about the beautiful forest. She thought about the first time she and Kulukath met, and a small smile formed on her lips.

Kulukath couldn’t help but feel the rage inside of him fueling him beyond what he thought was possible. Castien had let him touch her! He knew her intents were not to betray him, but he couldn’t help but feel betrayed. Tears stung his eyes. He had to do something! Curse his stupidity! If he hadn’t let Castien out, he could’ve killed Elohir first. then gone and gotten himself almost electrocuted to death. “Castien!” He screamed, bringing himself forcefully to his feet, staggering back towards where she and Elohir had disappeared.

Castien grimaced and raised her hands, clapping them over her own ears. Kulukath's screams were echoing in the tunnels, and tears started to stream down her cheeks. Elohir's touch suddenly felt like fire on her skin, and she shivered slightly, hating the feeling. Her eyes were squeezed shut, and she lowered her head, feeling Elohir's chest pressed against her back. Hating herself for what she was allowing him to do, she clenched her jaw tightly. What could she do? There was no way she would allow him to... rape her, but she wasn't going to make it look like she was going to fight back. Not yet.

Kulukath, Castien's words were unsteady. Please, please forgive me. A sob came from her throat, echoing in the tunnels around them.

Kulukath shook his head, blocking his mind from hers. He couldn’t take it. Knowing what that Elohir would do to the woman he loved with all of his heart…and that she’d let him…It killed him inside. His emotions raged with anger and betrayal and sadness, and he couldn’t un-mix the thoughts that floated around in his head. With that, he started staggering back towards them, trying to find his way through the darkness, his limbs still tingling with leftover electricity, his burnt palms searing with pain every time they touched something.

[Spritz]

When Castien felt Elohir's hands sliding up under her dress once again, she stiffened, and set her jaw. Time seemed to freeze right where it was, and she was faced with a decision. Throwing an elbow harshly into his gut, his cry echoed through the tunnels as he bowled over, then grabbed her wrist and twisted it harshly. She tried to get to Kulukath once again, but was rewarded with a flash of blinding light, a searing pain that twisted through her body, then she fell onto the ground, unconcious.

Kulukath heard a yelp, not but a few minutes later. It wasn’t Castien, so that meant it had to be Elohir. Filled with hope, Kulukath surged forward, stumbling once or twice over his legs, until his hope and anger and determination flowed through his veins enough to make him feel invincible. He reached the two not long after, seeing Castien slumped over, but not knowing she was only unconscious. “What do you do!” Kulukath roared, striding up to Elohir, flipping out his poisonous dagger, his eyes filled with hate.

[Spritz]

"Back away, princess!" Elohir snarled, narrowing his eyes and standing over Castien's limp body. "You know she doesent deserve you! You're a mutt, a mix of evil! What is she!? A pure wood elf!" He shook his head, taking note of the dagger that was clenched in Kulukath's hands. "You have to admit, cant you see that she needs more than you!" Castien didn't stir, her cheek pressed against the cool stone floor.

Kulukath stopped at his words. He knew they were true. Castien didn’t deserve to be the mother of a demon’s child. Kulukath narrowed his eyes, but neither moved forward nor backward. The words hit home. He’d promised Castien he’d never leave her, yet the point that Elohir made was so prominent; he was wondering why he’d gotten Castien pregnant without giving it a second thought.
Because I love her, Kulukath thought to himself. But if I love her, why force her to bear the spawn of demons?
Kulukath stepped back, shaking his head, “Then why don’t you just kill me now,” he muttered, tossing his poisoned blade at Elohir’s feet. “That way she won’t have a choice to come running back to me.”

[Spritz]

Elohir narrowed his eyes. "You know its true Kulukath, I can see it in your eyes." Stepping forward, the elf shook his head, and pursed his lips. The blade clattered to the floor, and a faint smile passed over Elohir's lips. "If you really loved her, you wouldn't force her to be with you. How could she love you anyway? How will she be looked at for the rest of her life, because she was yours?"

[Guest]

Kulukath clenched his fists. What Elohir was saying, what he was accusing him of, was right. Castien deserved better than him. She deserved to be with her own kind, who was so graciously taking her back after all this time. “Fine,” Kulukath said, hanging his head. “She doesn’t deserve to be the mother of devils. But if you do anything now, just take my dagger and kill me. I can’t live without her.”

[Spritz]

"Exactly Kulukath." Elohir stooped down, and grasped the blade in his fingers. Flipping it in his palms, he handed it back to Kulukath. "I'm not going to kill you. Only for Castien's sake. But I dont want you to ever come around again." His voice was smooth and he accented his words, his elvish accent clear.

[Guest]

Kulukath flinched, expecting to feel the searing pain of the neurotoxins at the tip of his father’s blade. Instead, Elohir passed it back to him. Shaking his head skeptically, Kulukath took the blade from his hands and sheathed it. He stared at Castien’s unconscious form, and then frowned. “Goodbye,” he murmured before walking solemnly back down the corridor, away from the village.

[Spritz]

As soon as Kulukath left, a smug smile formed on Elohir's lips. He stooped down and picked up Castien in his arms, cradling her head gently with his hands. Finally, finally! After all this time, Castien was his! His! A hearty chuckle emitted from his lips, and he leaned down, kissing her lips gently. Stooping past the orc guard, he made his way out of the tunnels and back into the sunlight.

When Kulukath got there, he stared from the edge of the village into the Elves that had watched him leave, and had now turned back to their own business. Kulukath’s heart crunched painfully in his chest, and he’d seen that Elf—Thínil, was it?—that was Castien’s sister, who had sneered devilishly at him. Despite it all, Kulukath knew that Castien deserved better than him. He was a mutt, a filthy mix-breed that shouldn’t have mated with a purebred Elf. He felt awful about it now, as if he’d ruined her entire life. Maybe leaving was the best idea. Maybe Elohir was right.

[Spritz]

Castien, in her drowsy, unconcious state, was aware faintly of touch, the feeling of someone carrying her. Soon, she felt warm sunlight on her skin, and she smiled faintly. She knew it was Kulukath who was carrying her, as he wouldn't have let Elohir get to her once again. She let her mind brush against Kulukath's, and spoke quietly, so only he could hear her.
